Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful two weeks at Flamenco!

Having been to Cuba a dozen times, this resort is one of my favourites. Love the size of the resort, very well laid out and everything was close (we were in building 4). Staff were wonderful from the waitresses, waiters, bartenders (best drinks I have ever had in Cuba), maids and gardeners. Food was great, good variety at the buffet, 24 hour snack bar was fantastic, love the coffee and the A la carte's were very good, my favorite was the Calalu. Rooms were spacious and clean, lot's of hot water  [... read more]and good water pressure in the shower. Cold drinks, pop, beer & water always stocked in fridge and no problem changing in beach towels daily. The only down fall was the coral on the beach but there were a few areas that you could walk in without too much problem, but once you were out passed the coral it was a beautiful sandy bottom. Check in was done at the airport, room keys were given to us and bracelets put on and when we arrived at the hotel drinks waiting for us and bags were taken to our room. Only a 15 minute bus ride to our hotel from the airport. We had wonderful two weeks.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Fantastic

It was the first time for my daughter to venture outside of Canada so Cuba seemed to be a great place to start. Her first time experience at Memories Flamenco Beach Resort in Cayo Coco was excellent. We both enjoyed everything about our trip and would definitely return again.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: a beautifull resort

A great resort. Staff is very accommodating and polite. The whole place i.e.Gardens, grounds, walk way, pools extremely clean and beautiful. Great price for a holiday. Buffet We would definitely go back again.

Melia Jardines del Rey: A three stars hotel-not more !

This hotel is still under construction-expect hammer noises,dust and landscaping in early stages of development.Very inconvenient layout of the grounds,swimming pools are not connected by bridges,so you have to go around a lot.Spa is not open yet ,even if it is already advertised on website,which was a huge disappointment for me.Front desk service unhelpful and indifferent,not informing about flight cancellations,not willing to accommodate to room changes etc.Food is decent,but if you wait you c [... read more]an get excellent barbecue done by chef.The waitresses at the lobby bar are nice and fast with orders.The front desk staff should be trained in hospitality or fired.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Time!

We spent 7 days at this resort for a friend's wedding. We had a really nice time! A lot of people complain about food in Cuba, but this resort had really good food. Obviously things won't taste the same as in Canada and I wouldn't expect it too, which I get the feeling that is what a lot of people think. There wasn't much that I didn't like with the food! The snack bar is very basic, but good when you're in a pinch at an odd time. We would get a hot dog or burger before going to our room at night. They also had good breakfast there. The entertainment at night was great, we only caught two nights of it but they were really good shows, they are VERY talented. The pool bar is nice but found a lot of kids hung out around there and sometimes was a little much. They also held a lot of children's activities right by it...would have been nice to keep that a little more separated, not a huge issue though. The beach is nice, as others say the coral/rocks is a little sharp in spots but we just wore flip flops and had no problems at all and it's neat to see all the fish that live around the coral (you don't have to swim out further to see them). The only real thing that got to us was the first night we arrived, our toilet broke. We called down twice within 3-4 hours and they said they'd take a look. Never did, so we went to the lobby and told them again. Someone finally showed up but took out the guts of our toilet leaving it completely useless. We had to call again, and they tried telling us it was 'impossible' to fix and would be looked at in the MORNING. So we were expected to be without a toilet all afternoon/evening/night and morning. They did nothing to try to help until I went down to the customer rep and complained that we have to have a toilet! (even if it was still possible to manual flush with water but they took everything out so it wouldn't work at all)...they finally worked to get us another room to stay in. It was really frustrating waiting around until 10-11 pm (after being up since 5 am with our flight and all) to find out if we'd even get another room. They also told us it was another ocean view...it wasn't, it was garden view and a king size instead of double bed (we requested double), they expected us to stay in this room saying it was 'nicer', for the price we paid for ocean view, my husband managed to get them to give us the other room back the next afternoon though. However after that whole ordeal we had no problems with the staff, they were all great. And the rest of the time spent there was awesome. But I am curious as to why bathrooms have no paper towel or working hand dryers? Not a big deal to us, but it was a little weird.

Hotel Camino del Mar: 5th visit at MCG

Our week at the MCG was wonderful. We beached, fished the pier, fished the big bridge, recorded 70+ species of Birds, rode horse back through lagoon & along the beach, swam, walked the beach, enjoyed the food...best in five visits, enjoyed the early evening entertainment. Our 3rd floor room was very clean, had hot water, toiletries, toilet paper, drinking water & pop replaced daily. Buildings need maintenance... paint, fix doors, replace light bulbs, repair parts of wharf, and wooden structures. [... read more] Staff is extremely friendly, hard working, extended our room checkout time and supported us when our flight was delayed. Even though this Resort is tired & worn...it is still the best place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Cuba.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort!

We enjoyed our stay; it is a beautiful resort and when it is open to full capacity, with the accommodation complete, it will be a busy spot. The pool is fabulous, beautiful area, the beach is great, we loved to walk the beach everyday. Suggestion, take "water shoes", there are rocks as you enter the water (I kept my flip flops on). I love Cayo Coco area, returned after 17 years; it's very busy spot now with the new hotels but that didn't bother me at all. The service at the hotel was great, the buffet restaurant was great, good food, no complaints at all, plenty of food for all .. suggestion, bring pepper/salt, ketchup & seasoning salts LOL .. it's was a personal taste thing .. they provided HP & A1 sauce, which was great for me. The al-a-carte restaurants were great, no complaints, food very tasty and service was excellent!! Our room was comfortable, new design, lots of room for 2 people, king size bed, loved that we had a coffee maker .. suggestion, take coffee mate or similar as they don't provide any type of coffee cream/creamer with the coffee maker. I would think you could get milk from the restaurant if you need it as there is a fridge in the room. Also, take adapters/converters for small electronics e.g., cell phone charging, curling irons/flat irons .. it is 220 volt people!! I have an "European curling iron" and it worked great, no convertor required! There is a hairdryer and it worked great! Take face cloths if you use them .. I didn't ask housekeeping for one; I'm assuming they would provide you with them if they are available. Cuba has come along way over the years .. I worked with the 1st travel operator to take Canadians to Cuba (mid 70's), only to Varadero at that time, so with that said, "you've come along way Cuba", offering great spots for vacationing Canadians! The "people" are very friendly, accommodating & hard working! I would definitely return to this resort, great relaxing, stress free spot! I would return to Cuba, all areas!! Ciao!!!!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Excellent Value

The hotel is new and very clean/modern. General layout of the property is good, walkways everywhere needed. Food was the best I have had in the past 3 trips to Cuba, great veriety and selection. Waiters and bar staff were the best I have ever seen in Cuba. The beach was incredible and lots of chairs even when busy. The front desk staff were at a min. helpful, always seemed to have something else better to do than assist with guests needs. Melia Jardines del Rey: Will be an amazing resort

Service This resort had fantastic service. On the beach they would bring you beach chairs (you never had to reserve early or search for your own), the same goes for chairs around the pool. Service in all restaurants and bars were excellent with the exception of the Lobby Bar (where it was extremely slow at nights). The resort is large (even with only half complete) and they would offer you golf cart rides to your room if you wanted. Beach The beach was beautiful, it was long and had fine, white [... read more] sand so excellent for walking, collecting seashells or just building sandcastles. BUT bring water shoes, they really need to excavate the rock in the water just off shore. The rock is very sharp and will cut feet. In order to find a clear place to enter the ocean you will need to go the far right of the beach by the last of the shade structures. (It is a bit of a hike). Also the snorkelling was great - there was a reef just off shore and it was not too deep and you could see many, many different types of colourful fish. Pools There were only 1 main pool open at this point and it was really 2 pools (not including the baby pool for toddlers). The pools were like a giant square with a part in the middle for sitting on beach chairs. The one being shallower (great for kids) and the other deeper. There were lots of beds around the pool and always seemed to be one available, we never had to scramble out in the morning to reserve one. The only downside is the pool had some sort of edge that cut the children's feet. Almost every child had small cuts from something on the bottom of their feet. Oddly the adults did not. Food The food was good especially for Cuba. The buffet was large and while the selection did not change a lot, they had a fresh meat cooking station, fish cooking station, pasta station and flambé banana station nightly, the food overall at the buffet was quite good. The 2 a la cartes were okay but the menus were quite limited. The snack bar was only okay as well. It also had an extremely limited menu. Drinks The drinks were okay at best. Most tropical drinks were made from those slushy machines and they never had any fresh fruit for drinks. This is an area this hotel could improve upon. With the exception of the coffee and the coffee drinks, those were spectacular especially the latte macchiato. I was told the Spanish coffees were good too. Rooms The room was brand new and in superb condition. The safe was free and the TV's were flat screen and had a variety of channels from around the world. Landscape/Resort I am sure when this resort is complete it will be beautiful but I was there in Feb 2015 and it was no where near that point. Most of the grounds were mud. They were desperately watering and trying to get grass to grow but there was not a lot of grass. The bigger concern is there is a large section of cleared land between the buildings and the beach that will not be built on for 2 to 3 years - as they will eventually build a luxury section there(or so I was told) and it is an eyesore, it was one very large mud pit. The resort was only half complete - which I was completely aware of when I booked and I got a good price for a Melia resort. The other half was no where near done and I will be surprised if it is complete in May as they state. So many things that are listed just aren't ready. The current gift shop was the size of a closet and sold rum, cigars, and a couple Tshirts/towels so bring what you need. Overall though I would recommend this hotel and expect it will be fantastic when it is done.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Was great...until I was bitten

This was a really nice hotel. I liked the theatre a lot - great shows...the lobby bar areas were quite nice and an evening gathering place. The room was good - some issues, but nothing to raise a fuss over. Linens were a bit sparse and I should have remembered to take my own facecloths. The pool is great and once you figure out how to get a chair (most are 'saved' selfishly by people who are off to the beach or somewhere else for hours), there's no problem. However. There were biting ants in the [... read more] room, in the beds. I had sprayed the sheets with bug spray just in case and found a dead ant one night. I had a few bites, then on the second last night, I got a bad bite on the side of my foot, causing pain, swelling and limping. The last day, I went to the health care site at the hotel. The person there spoke very little English (and I know..it's a foreign country but when the hotel's staff including wait staff, cooks etc all speak a fair bit of English, it really would be great if the health rep spoke English as well). Anyway, when I finally got through to her what had happened, she said to 'rest'. I said I couldn't since I was travelling home that day. She recommended Ibuprofen - when I said I had none and thought she would have one or two to give me, she brought out a bottle for me and I'm thinking, how generous, this is great. Then she wanted 12+pesos for it, which converted to about $18 Canadian! For a bottle of Ibuprofen! For something caused in the hotel, no less! I was less than impressed and didn't pay and she just left. So that was quite a negative with the hotel overall. As for Canjet - great trip!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: 7 days at Memories Caribe on Cayo Coco

Got to the hotel later in the evening and was presented with a nice fruit drink. Quick sign in and then was taken but cart to our room, didn't have to left a bag. Got to the room and it felt a little warm and found out later the the AC wasn't working and right away they moved us right away and again they moved use with a cart and didn't have to left a bag. the next day the shower head fell apart and we told a maid and it was fixed well we were out. The rooms were clean and liked that we got a la [... read more]rge bottle of water everyday. The staff at the snack were amazing couldn't get a better bunch of guys. The entertainment staff was amazing as well. The day time activities where right fun to watch and partake in. The dinning hall was always full but you could find a place to sit right away. The food was good in the dinning hall. Always had water or a coffee with milk for you at lunch, dinner and fresh juice in the morning. The snack bar was good if you didn't feel like going to the dinning hall for dinner (hotdogs, fries, hamburgers). The pool area was nice and clean a few birds that would fly around and pick up the food that was on the ground but not that bad. Could of had a few more spots for shade. The beach was very nice, always had a place to sit. I got bite in a few spots because of the sand flies. The last day my group got a late check out, asked for a bellboys but he didn't show so we had to take our bags to the lobby. The send off was great. They play music, dance it's was very nice. I had a great time and I'm going to tell everyone to go to Memories Caribe Beach Resort. See you all next year.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good resort but has issues

Resort facilities are nice and well layed out but it took 3 days to get water issue resolved and just as long to get bath towels for our room. Beach is nice but not really swimable due to rocky shoreline and low tides....good snorkelling though.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great resort! Amazing staff!!

Resort was well set up, with all of the necessities. Make sure you pack extra toilet paper or something, as the washrooms did not always have TP, but we made due. Nice pool area near the snack bar. Good entertainment for adults and kids both day and night. Rooms were clean. The beach was magnificent! Sometimes hard to get chairs, but we still managed, as there were 6 of us. But I would say that the staff made our stay a very memorable one! They worked very hard to make sure we were taken care of [... read more] and happy!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great value

Great staff, great beach. very enjoyable. chairs in the loby and bars were not very comfortable on my back. Lots of chairs available at the beach, terrific weather. Too bad there were only 7 different shows and we were there for 14 days.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Third time's a charm!

Great for little kids! Close to airport. Short flight. Canjet flight serves food and 1 alcoholic drink free! Great people! Food is bland, but at least you don't have to cook! Beach is amazing! Best beach compared to Memories and Melia Jardins which are on either side of Pestana! We Love Pinky, Mary, Dani, Danelis, Daniel, and Saily! We had another great family vacation! Thanks and see you again next year!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: good

good,but hola rep not very good,transportation from resort to airport not booked properly and we waited one and and a half hours for bus,found out it was not booked and we had to demand transportation from the repr before she arranged properly.. We arrived hour hour before flight and got on flight with great diffultculty

Hotel Mojito: Poor maintence in public washrooms

Grounds were not the best but not bad. Food was good.Superior ROOM was the same as regular room not worth extra money .Public washrooms are deplorable most times no soap or toilet paper.Toilet would not flush even if we did not put paper in. We over tip but some staff appeared to take it for granted.We have been to cuba many times and the staff was always very greatfull.

Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful Melia Cayo Coco

We just came back from 2 weeks at Melia Cayo Coco. It was our 6th visit. The new general manager, Francisco Silva, is a man with a vision who wants to bring this resort to the 2015 international level of satisfaction. Juan, food and beverage manager works very hard to make it happen. Receptionists, Midialys, Alexis, Ariel, Oscar & Yenny were very professional and helpful. We had a non smoking room and our chambermaid Dianelis kept it spotless. Thank you Eidel Ramos and Gippsy for ensuring that w [... read more]e got that room.The beds are still very very hard, too firm for our liking. Every night we enjoyed the pianist playing in the lobby, mainly Elim and Orlando. . The group Vocal Andares, consisting of 4 tenors and accompanied by an exceptional pianist, was absolutely fantastic, in league with IL Divo. .All the bands performing in the lobby were excellent, as were the shows in the theater. In the buffet all the staff were very efficient, we especially enjoyed Erdel & Jose Enrique. The international restaurant is being renovated and will reopen very soon. Being none smokers, we really appreciate the new no smoking policy of this resort,which affect most of the lobby as well as the outside terrace of the restaurant. We swam in the ocean most of the time. We are looking forward to go back. .

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awesome resort

My husband and I were at Memories Flamenco Beach Feb 5th to 12th, 2015. This is our 2nd time to this resort and we will definately be returning. The staff is fantastic! The grounds are absolutely georgious! Beautiful long walks on the beach every day. Food was very good in buffet and al la carte restaurants! Special thanks to Manager Octavio, Yulien at the beach bar and Lilly who both recognized us from our last visit over a year ago!! Melia Jardines del Rey: Awesome Resort

We loved this resort the rooms were very nicely done. The staff were wonderful and very kind. The food was awesome and the pool was beautiful. We enjoyed the Snack Bar and loved the drinks from there and the Lobby Bar. The Oriental Al la Carte was really good. We would love to go back to this resort again next year. When this resort is finished it will be huge hopefully they can keep up with the demand of the people who will be staying there.
