Hotel Atlantico: Looks great, but it ends there.this

This hotel looks good for what you paid. Nicely placed on the beach. The staff were friendly ,but not knowledgable in the reception.the food was awful . The room maids used the towels to wipe the sinks and parts of the toilet . The reception played favourites. And overcharged me for wifi. When I complained I was given 10 hrs. Free not to tell the manager. Often no plates. But... This I expect in Cuba.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good Resort

The lunch and dinner buffet was the same every day. There was chicken, pork, fish an shrimp made to order. The seasoning was lacking but that’s Cuba in general! There is a clear lack in fruits and vegetables, there was no lettuce, tomato, onion, the only fruits were watermelon, guava, papaya, pineapple, grapefruit. That being it was still good compared to what we heard from people at other nearby resorts. There was a 24hr snack bar that had sandwiches that was good! Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Trip to Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo, September 2022

It seems that Cuba tourism and hospitality industry has suffered big time over 2 years of COVID pandemic. The services and resources were not at the high level as before the pandemic (I have been to Cuba several times). There was a minor shortage of bottled water, fruit, bread, and some food stuff. The main pool was not working due to broken filter, so there was no pool bar which is one of the most attractive spots of any resort. There was no waiter at the other pool(s) which made it difficult  [... read more]for the elderly and people with disability to get drinks or snack at the pool(s). Tons of flies and mosquitos even inside the buffet restaurant. Maintenance of facilities was not at the expected level (broken toilets, pool filters, etc). Night entertainment was mainly DJ, except for 2 nights of live performances. However, the majority of were trying hard so the visitors have a good time, especially: 1. Juan at the Sports Bar 2. The chef at the lobster restaurant by the beach 3. Roxy, Rachel, and their managers at the "a la carte" restaurants 4. supervisors at the buffet restaurant 5. and many others 6. Fortunately free WiFi internet was provided, though you needed to log in frequently Hope that Cuba will recuperate quickly to the previous high level we are used to see in Cuba.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Our experience in Playa Cayo Santa Maria

Fourth time to be there. Previous times were acceptable although the food quality and services was not match a 4 star hotel.But this time almost every thing was horrible! Almost no eatable food(my sons survived on fruits whole week!),many drinks were not available and we found 3 times insects in our coffee and drinks!The complementary drinks in our fridge(like coke, beer,..) had been reduced to one bottle of water for 2 person per day! Our room had a bad smell I guess because the wall was wet is some parts!They told us because we came on Wednesday,there is no special party for returning guests like you as we missed it on Wednesday! Finally after on week of poor services and shortage on every thing ,all family got Corona as a result of poor sanitation and all of us are badly sick and off work now. Truly it was a wasting of time and money!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Vacation

Very nice place- would go again. Little too much Fish to choose for food for us :( overall was great :) Beach could of been cleaned up more often by shoreline, but was nice! Great entertainment, friendly people and beautiful scenery

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: The resort is clean

The housekeeping Maids don’t do a good job cleaning. The bed sheets are pulled tightly and neatly and look very good with the swans and different things they make with the towels. However, the maids don’t take the time to actually CLEAN the shower, toilets, sinks and the floors.they just make it look nice on the surface. The cheap fish was the same kind every meal. It is a clean well maintained resort. Beautiful layout beautiful flowers and gardening !! The beach is very close to everything. Workers very friendly and the place is very clean and spotless. I would definitely go back if they change the couple things I mentioned about.

Los Delfines: Adequate, good price

Room (standard): floor not swept and fridge dirty on arrival, shower lever not working but repaired in good time. No phone to contact reception. Linen: only 2 medium towels, no bath mat, only bottom sheet on bed, worn blanket with holes (but clean), no extra blankets We were upgraded to a suite as it was our anniversary, it had a table and chairs, regular size new fridge and ocean view. However, the water new got warmer than room temp, and the day before leaving a water pipe burst in the build [... read more]ing, so there was no water for bathing or flushing the toilet. The biggest disappointment was that no one came to offer us the use of another room to shower in (no phone for us to contact reception or vice versa). We used the outdoor showers and lobby toilet (in another building). Food: okay, not a huge variety, but fine. It was much better our last day - that seems to happen often in Cuba. The snack bar sandwiches and fries were cold and not very good. The regular snack bar was closed for renos, so perhaps it is better there. Bar: poor synthetic pina colada, beer and basic mixed drinks okay. Wine was sometimes served at the buffet, present at the a la carte. The a la carte was a highlight because it is in a colonial Spanish building. The food was not much better than the buffet, but the ambience is worth it. Shows: basic, music off at 11 pm. Did not do the pool activities - pool was fine. Would we return - yes, it is great value and a central location. The staff were friendly and treated us well, masks were worn in the buffet but not elsewhere. There were only 20 cases per day being reported in the country that week.

Melia Varadero: Fantastic resort!

We’re very happy we choose this resort and had a great week in Cuba ! The location is fantastic, only a 10 minute taxi ride to downtown Varadero, which we went to 3 days for shopping, eating out, chatting with locals, and stopping for some Cuban rum lol! The rooms are simple, but clean. Beds comfortable. The A/C works very well, in fact almost too well ! The staff are beyond friendly and accommodating, and very very grateful for your tips. Dinner at the ala Carte is very very good though. Pool is wonderful, lots of choice for chairs in the sun or shade, and the beach area and ocean stunningly carribean and just beautiful. Would definitely return.

Melia Las Americas: A home away from home!!

It has been at least six years since we stayed at the Melia Las Americas. This fine resort has been nothing but highly professional and helpful to its customers. They even have set up a v.i.p. lounge in which a photo of the frequent patrons is presented on one of the walls. We have, over the course of fourty years, stayed in all of the different rooms. It was heart warming upon arrival to see the staff, who immediately recognized us and set us up in an upgraded room with no charge.This res [... read more]ort is and will always be our home away from home.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Lots of potential

The hotel itself is newer and looks qnice and our room was always kept clean. The stairwells and hallways could have used some regular sweeping. The grounds were kept fairly well, but we saw the same chicken bone on the walkway the whole week and although the pool was kept well, the area around the pool deck could use a bit more help. There is still much to work on but lots of potential. The beach is gorgeous and the water is crystal clear. We spent most of our time in the water. The pedal bots and Hobie cars were in excellent shape and plentiful. The guys were helpful and they were heroes. They rescued and revived a drowning snorkeller when were were there. The mosquitos or whatever was biting us from day one were ridiculous! Even with regular application of our high-deet bug spray, we got eaten alive and are still itchy several days after our return. We saw that the Hotel fogged for mosquitoes, in fact we were quite upset that they did this during times when people walked along the paths. It happened to us three times, when all of a sudden a horrid-smelling smoke shot out of a big canister from the back of a pick-up truck. I complained to the front desk but they didn’t seem to care. Why can’t they do this later at night? It sure didn’t seem to help by doing it at 7 pm and goodness knows what we breathed in. The food! Oh dear. I had low expectations but it was far worse than I imagined. Unless you got something from the grill, it was room temperature at best. And never mind the poor selection and repetition. I understand that they simply don’t have the supply, but geez. Boiled potatoes three ways - sliced, wedges and cubes - but no fries? No lettuce, no pizza, no burgers. Cut up hot dogs for breakfast sausage. I could go on. We didn’t go hungry but the food was disappointing. Since we rarely felt compelled to hit the buffet, we spent more time swimming so that was good for us. Lol We we’re thankful for the man at the grill cooking our eggs and pancakes in the morning and the girl who made smoothies. Toast and butter were good too but often crowded even with low occupancy rate. The bar staff was great, especially Yireni at the Lobby Bar. She was such a lovely person. Coffee was great and yummy iced coffee was always being churned. That was a bonus.The only bartender that was unfriendly and unwelcoming was the young woman who also took the restaurant reservations in the mornings. She was always eager to get on her phone and let other bartenders do the work. I didn’t catch her name because they don’t wear name tags.

Melia Las Dunas: Dissaponted

This was my 14th stay at the Melia Las Dunas Resort. I regret to say that I was extremely disappointed this visit. The each was the highlight as usual, however, the hotel has become very run down. My girlfriend had to change her rooms 2 times. The first water was coming in through the light fixture on the ceiling from heavy rain then the second room the AC as not functioning. There were only a handful of Canadian guests and another handful of international guests leaving the rest to other Cubans travelling from other parts of the country. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cuban culture and people I have met over the years and is the reason for my return multiple times. The majority of the guests were rude and quite disrespectful to the resort leaving their garbage everywhere on the beach and around the pool. Let's talk about the pool next. I was disgusted for the first time with the pool. After the rainfall, I visited the pool and noticed debris floating at the bottom thinking it was twigs from the trees but everywhere in the pool was loose black grout. This was there the entire stay! I can't imagine the bacteria festering in that once beautiful pool. I understand low season forces the hotel to close one side, leaving only the family side open but children in the pool with diapers also in unacceptable. The staff was as usual very kind and polite and have always maintained a professional repour. I am sad to say that will be my last visit to this resort but not my last to Cuba,

Tryp Cayo Coco: Best hotel I Cayo Coco!!

Excellent staff make you feel like your at home always trying to help you enjoy your stay just that little bit better than the last time ! Most ppl repeat guest for a reason wouldn't ever go anywhere else thank you again tryp super fantastic vacation 😀

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Vacation

Great first trip after the Covid shutdown. Starting from the airport, YYZ and plane still wearing masks but no lines or issues. Plane was only 3/4 full so we had empty seat beside us. Cuba and SNU, masks not required. Bus ride to the hotel was about 1.25 hours with great commentary and lots to see. Check-in at hotel Dhawa was fast as only 8 people got off the bus. So, I figured 20% capacity, we were taken to our room in building 3, beautiful, large, bright and very clean on 2nd floor with a perfect balcony view of the ocean. The hotel was maintained, and everything was close by. The pool was beautiful, large, 2 levels, crystal clear and warm with a swim up bar. The beach was spectacular, about a 1/2 kilometer long to the Angsana hotel. The water was clear calm and warm, and the beach was clean. never issues with lounge chairs or palapas. Now being low occupancy, it was a wonderful time to get to know the staff as they were not overly busy. This is where this hotel really excels, all of the staff are wonderful, helpful and make a real effort to chat and get to know you. They are all very good at what they do, and they made this vacation very special for us. There are no covid restrictions at the hotel, but the remanence of covid still remains. They still have had issues getting certain items, lending to shortages in food, alcohol/wine and mix, each day would be different. What they did have was decent, as you could always find something to eat or drink as they made the best of what was available. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would go back to this hotel. the area is spectacular (also if you like to walk there is an adjacent Salinas beach which extends about 3 kl to the Villa Los Brujas and marina)

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Good resort

Registration was Quick,great room Ocean view ,flood problems with toilet last 2days . fridge stocked with water and two beer the first day after that no beer for the rest of the seven days. breakfast was pretty good had bacon every day and Omelets were great. 24 hour snack bar was not good pizza had a little bit of cheese on it that was it no toppings available fries were off and on during the day. The sports bar was great could play pool bartender made excellent drinks . The entertainment at night was pretty good had an excellent hard rock band performing one night playing all the great old songs. The personnel was quite happy to help you with any needs that requested. The grounds around the area were kept up and the gardeners were very pleasant always saying good morning to you when they would see you. The beach was beautiful warm water and plenty of chairs to go around. Now the bad things mosquitoes and bugs were horrible bitten badly ,in the restaurant flies all over the tables not a very nice time eating . there is no gin so I couldn’t have my favourite drink gin and tonic . overall is a pretty good trip rated the hotel eight out of 10. tipping try to bring American one dollar bills or change to their currency as our loonies and toonies they have a hard time changing it because they can’t do it at the bank so they have to ask travellers if they can change it for bills.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: lied to

I chose this hotel because it said there was wifi and a 24 hour bar and 2 restaurants plus buffet. There was 1 restaurant and the front desk only let me make one reservation for dinner there for the whole week. after 11pm you CANNOT GET ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK. They only give you 7 hours of wifi. They also close the pool at 6pm :// a lot of promises were unfulfilled and i feel lied to.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful resort

The resort is a wonderful holiday destination, I have been on holidays a couple of times but my trip to Playo cayo Santa Maria stood out for me. From the wonderful food and drinks to the cleanliness of the resort. The staff are also courteous people. This is a great value for money and I can’t wait to visit again

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing experience!

Such an amazing experience. The resort and grounds were stunning and well maintained. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, top notch. And the swim out pool is the only way to go. The breakfast buffet had a variety of food to choose from, great selection for all food preferences. We enjoyed the a la cart restaurant options, but thoroughly enjoyed the beach grill lunch and beach bar vibe. The snack bar option was a convenient feature for when you just want a quick bite. Only su [... read more]ggestion would be to bring bug spray. The resort did fog the grounds but it is a secluded location surrounded by wilderness. It would be difficult to go to another resort after experiencing the Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Esmeralda.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Our favourite resort in Cayo Coco

Beach is very good, however you need water shoes to enter the water. They are a must.There are nasty, big broken shells for about 4-5 m from the shore, then the sea floor is smooth and debris-free / pristine. Food is tasty, and despite the options are somehow limited, you'll always find something to enjoy (paella and soup were overly salted, however). Lots of flies on and around the tables. It is a nicer environment than at the buffet, no flies, and the food is slightly better and is served with a good presentation. You can enjoy the non-motorized water sports for free (pedal boat, hobbie cat with sails, manned by marina staff, also kayak). This is a big plus, as on the water you feel the pleasant breeze in hot temperatures. You can go snorkelling at the coral reef, a short distance from the shore, but it is not free. Beware the mouth piece can be defective and take water in. Either you test it in the water before embarking on the catamaran, or you bring your own snorkelling mask. No issues with water pressure or supplies such as soap or toilet paper. Chamber maids are not all created equal. The first one was hardly doing what was required - e.g. providing water daily, or coffe pods for the machine, or removing the garbage from the bathroom. But there is a solution to that: I had the chamber maid changed with another one, which was super efficient. These are not big issues, however. The big plus of this resort is a very long beach you can stroll on for kilometers, and a very calm and clean sea, where you can swim or snorkel as much as you want.

Melia Costa Rey: Was impressed

The hotel was wonderful the food was okay for Cuba and the staff were great, although we did get ripped off by a cab driver but we're unimpressed with some of the tourists that had disrespectful attitudes toward the staff, but did meet some nice people though
