Melia Las Dunas: Resort with a past greatness.

All grounds and public areas are well maintained but everything is getting old and worn-down (maybe except the pools). Rooms are clean but bathrooms look very old and worn. Food is very good with a great choice of fish and seafood. Barbecues are great. Restaurants comparable to other resorts. Plan of the resort similar to Playa Pesquero in Holguin.

Check in: fast and easy Grounds: beautifull and well kept. Pools were too cold. Outstanding beach and really enjoyed swimming in the ocean Food: lots of choice but not too appealing, breakfast was the best, at lunch time we really enjoyed the pizzeria a la carte restaurant, dinner we went to the buffet which was fine. Melia Marina Varadero: Planning our Return already!

It my our first trip with our 2 year old. Of course, we were worried about everything. This is my 4th time in Cuba and I know all about expectations and limitations. Melia was absolutely beyond any expectations. It blew us away - the facilities, the rooms, the food, the service and the sheer beauty of the Marina itself. I won't even mention the beach - everyone knows how amazing those are in Varadero. I am very grateful to the hotel for making our first family trip an absolute dream come true. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Resort

Very clean, I like the small units no elevators, very spacious rooms and nice balconies, very good food. and friendly people staff, Ocean was a bit raff, because of the cold front, close to couple shopping centres. Transportation bus stop at the hotel double decker bus Vowwwwwwwwwww.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: NOT a 4 star hotel!

This was the first trip I took to Cuba. The bus ride from the airport to the hotel is about 1 hour.... On an old bus, which I am sure hit every pothole on the causeway. Not a pleasant experience at all We had asked that the 4 of us get rooms in the same building. We were told that the place was packed and the best they could do were rooms in buildings across the walkway from each other The first rooms that we were given were ATROCIOUS! There was mould in the bathroom, the blind behind the tub w [... read more]as covered In mold and slime. Our room was dingy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Our friends' pillow cases had blood stains on them. We spent some time on the phone trying to explain the situation, but got nowhere. Finally, we went to customer service...... And there we met Lily, the ANGEL of service reps. She listened to our complaint. And took us to another building, where, miraculously, we did get rooms on the same floor. These rooms were at least habitable. I found that the converter I brought would not charge my low voltage items... Laptop, batteries, phone. I talked to Lily, and she loaned me her personal charger. When this worked, I asked her to purchase me on and I would reimbursed her....Lily insisted I use hers for the duration. See.... An angel. The food at the buffet was plentiful, and there were several choices each meal. But... There was very little change from day to day, each meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner each day seemed to the same foods) for that time of day. The á la carte restaurants were tired looking, and the selections were not very far above the fare at the buffet. I will say that each and every wait staff we encountered was professional, cheery, courteous and attentive. The cooks, once they got to know you (a 1 peso tip each time helped) took extra care prepping your choice of meat. There was always beef ( which had a different texture than ours and was always, to my standard at least, somewhat tough... But still tasty) chicken, fish, and (at least 4 of the days) pork to choose from. There was a good choice of complementary sides as well. Desserts were plentiful, and I discovered a variation of rice pudding which was VERY good...... One odd thing we encountered.... you CANNOT get milk for coffee or tea during supper..... We solved this by buying milk at the on site store and bringing it with us. Oh, and BRING KETCHUP! They don't know what it is for some reason.and PEPPER... although they have pepper I didn't like theirs. The grounds looked depressed, although this may have been because this is their winter as well. There were always groundskeepers doing cleanup... Everything just seemed shabby. The beaches were nicely laid out, although you had to of get there very early to obtain a shaded spot... Same as at any other resort I've been to. There was nightly entertainment, and it was very good. We were entertained each time with the troupe entertainment. The piano bar was a grand room.... But it stank from cigar smoke. This was a problem, as none of us smoke, and my lady has a breathing proble. But the music was excellent. Nightly entertainment at the bar varied from a pianist one night to a guitar and cello player the next. Very good to listen to.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Friendly resort

The grounds and size of the resort were perfect. The service was expectionally friendly and always accomodating! The rooms were comfortable but needs some renovations to be a 5 star resort. The food at the buffet was a bit better than average. There were no themes, therefore pretty much the same choices night after night. The a la carte restaurants are a nice change with great service. The resort beach is small, a lot of coral ( great for those who want to snorkle), needs more attention when the [... read more] winds bring in the seaweed. Otherwise, you can walk the beautiful beach with the soft white sand Cuba is known for.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Fair

For a 5 star hotel it was pretty average. The food was bland and not enough of a selection. The staff was friendly except for the staff at the main lobby who ignored your requests. Some of them didn't even make eye contact. The bartender at the racquet ball bar was the worst. She should not be working in a position dealing with the public. She is rude and is another staff member that does not make eye contact. The maids in building 4 are so nice and very accommodating. Always smiling and happy.  [... read more]The 2 hour wait for the sunwing bus to go to the airport was unacceptable. The staff could have come out with sandwiches because we missed our evening meal. I don't think I will ever go back to Cuba again. They need some restructuring at the airport. The three hours through customs was horrific. Is it necessary to photograph each individual traveller coming into and again when departing cuba. INSANITY!!!!!

Paradisus Varadero: Great Vacation!

It's a great resort with lots of palm trees, extremely close to the beach and great food. There are a few cons- the entertainment is pretty slim, it's a quieter resort which we enjoyed but may not be for everyone. The bathroom in our room was subpar, I wouldn't consider it a 5 star, but it's functional. And lastly we didn't discover some of the features of the hotel until the end of our week, so the orientation/signs/staff could be a little better. Melia Las Dunas: Excellent vacation!

We arrived at Melia Las Dunas on January 30, 2015 and had a great vacation! The weather was wonderful the week we were there although it rained one evening. This was my second visit to this resort (was there in 2013) and this year, we went with two other couples. The beach is wonderfully and if you enjoy walking along the shore, this long white sandy beach is perfect. The buffet has a great variety and all six of us had no problems finding something to eat that we enjoyed. The rooms are a little [... read more] dated but very clean. The ride from the airport (in Santa Clara) to the resort is a little over an hour but if you travel during the day, the 48 km causeway is an experience in itself! Very beautiful. Enjoy your trip!

Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful Melia Cayo Coco

We just came back from 2 weeks at Melia Cayo Coco. It was our 6th visit. The new general manager, Francisco Silva, is a man with a vision who wants to bring this resort to the 2015 international level of satisfaction. Juan, food and beverage manager works very hard to make it happen. Receptionists, Midialys, Alexis, Ariel, Oscar & Yenny were very professional and helpful. Every night we enjoyed the pianist playing in the lobby, mainly Elim and Orlando. . The group Vocal Andares, consisting of 4 tenors and accompanied by an exceptional pianist, was absolutely fantastic, in league with IL Divo. .All the bands performing in the lobby were excellent, as were the shows in the theater. In the buffet all the staff were very efficient, we especially enjoyed Erdel & Jose Enrique. The international restaurant is being renovated and will reopen very soon. Being none smokers, we really appreciate the new no smoking policy of this resort,which affect most of the lobby as well as the outside terrace of the restaurant. We swam in the ocean most of the time. We are looking forward to go back. .

Melia Jardines del Rey: Awesome Resort

We loved this resort the rooms were very nicely done. The staff were wonderful and very kind. The food was awesome and the pool was beautiful. We enjoyed the Snack Bar and loved the drinks from there and the Lobby Bar. The Oriental Al la Carte was really good. We would love to go back to this resort again next year. When this resort is finished it will be huge hopefully they can keep up with the demand of the people who will be staying there.

Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: Great holiday and a great resort

Beautiful property, good food, friendly staff. The staff on the beach are very helpful. Hector on that staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant bookings was a little bit of a challenge, everything was always booked up.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good Deal

The price was right. We knew the resort wasn't complete but were willing to go and check it out. The staff was great. The drinks were hit or miss. Beach was beautiful with great snorkeling. Buffet was crowded but food was good.

Hotel Vigia: Great value good vacation

This was a safe, relaxed place to stay. No, there is nothing flashy but it's clean, in fairly good condition and great staff. Would go back. They are doing construction (was not a huge inconvenience)and nothing is mentioned in the carriers accommodation descriptions. Customers should be informed of this prior to booking.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star!

Always wanted to go to a Paradisus as I have been to Cuba 17 times always staying at the Melias, had the impression that Paradisus was one step higher in regards to amenities and service, expected some extras. This was not the case here, resort itself is beautiful. Day one, resort ran out of orange juice in the buffet, ran out of straws for two days, service in all restaurants were very slow due to understaffing, we were suppose to receive rum and sparkling wine in the room, never got them, thre [... read more]e days in a row no bottled water or beer. Disappointed to say the least. I have been a Melia member for 10 years and expected a little more. Will not be returning to this Paradisus.

Tryp Cayo Coco: you wont find a better beach anywhere.

the beach was amazing .you wont find a better beach anywhere . the bars had excellent service and great drinks . Cubans are the best . very grateful for any tips given . hotel and restaurant service was the best . the only issue with this place was the rooms . they need a complete makeover. hot water was scarce . hot water 3 days out of seven .the food was not very good . breakfast was very good . coffee was terrible . pools where not heated ,very cold water .if i went back it would be for the b [... read more]each for the relaxation . very quite place . i will wait to go back when they do a makeover of rooms and food..Cuba is still my favorite place to visit .

Food was amazing at this resort other people we talked to said food was bland in Cuba but not this resort. Beach and water was really good also water was nice and blue. Resort is nice and clean the guys do great job cleaning resort. Rooms were good nice and clean very friendly staff and most speak good English we really enjoyed this resort

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Beyond just another resort

When we arrived we were not impressed or blown away as the resort is dated and simple but once we settled in and started interacting with staff it took our resort experience to a whole other level! The pool barman, Osbien was exceptional as well as the beach bartenders Ernesto and his sidekick :) All staff were gracious, attentive, and thoroughly delightful. We really enjoyed all of our a l'ecartes., Japanese, French and mediterranean. The pools were nice. The beach was out of this world! The sand was like powder and stretched for miles. We've been to many islands and resorts over the years, all 4 stars or higher and I would recommend this resort. A breathtaking location, lovely resort, with fantastic staff and excellent entertainment shows! I would go back there in a minute : )

Melia Cayo Coco: Relaxing and excellent service

It was just what I was looking for. A smaller resort so no line-ups, very relaxing, warm and welcoming atmosphere, great food selection and very good quality. Numerous activities at the beach or pool if you so choose. Entertainment every evening. Room was great, no problems, could see the beach from my balcony, close to all amenities. Weather was warm yet very windy. What I didn't particularly like was the beach, lots of algae floating in the water and onto the beach. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort & grounds but under staffed

The resort is the nicest in Cuba but as usual under staffed. Which means slow service Replenishing supplies like paper towels in the bathroom or straws at the restaurants and bars was hit & miss. Otherwise a beautiful resort but run a little poorly.
