Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Review

The hotel was very nice. The grounds were well kept and the landscaping staff were very friendly. The room was great! Our housekeeper Tatianna was always gracious and left cute towel animals for us to get a laugh. The pool was very inviting and the entertainment staff were happy and energetic. Great place to relax. The beach was amazing!! Beautiful and picture perfect. The food on the other hand, was horrible. I can't find one good thing to say about it. My girlfriend is a chef and I,myself c [... read more]ooked professionally for ten years. We where shocked at some of the food service methods practiced at both buffet and reataunts. Hot food cold, cold food warm. Way over cooked or severely under. I'm not as particular as my girlfriend, so I was able to stomach a few options and got through. My partner, on the other hand, was very limited and eat very little. We are not food snobs by any stretch. I'll almost eat anything, but this was bad. I'm not looking to get anything out this review. I don't even need a reply. The travel agency and Heather our agent were great and I'll definitely use them again. I wish I could say I would recommend this resort because it is a special place, but knowing how poorly the food is prepared, I would say pass. People always say " the food wasn't good" when talking about their all inclusive vacations. Why is that? A few minor tweaks to the way the food is prepared and it would have been memorable; for the right reasons. Just my opinion.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good overall value!

This resort was good overall with a few glitches here and there. Upon arrival around noon, we were told our room wouldn't be available until after 4. This was a common occurrence as throughout the week, the lobby was full of weary travellers crashed on sofas waiting for hours on end for rooms.It killed the first day of our vacation. Once settled in the room, it was quaint and clean. The resort grounds were lovely, well manicured. There was minimal residual damage from hurricane Irma. Several b [... read more]uildings were under repair and the outside stage and disco were out of use. The evening entertainment was crammed in the lobby which was okay. With only one bar to handle to crowds in the lobby, it was extremely difficult to get a drink. The beach was beautiful and could not disappoint! You can walk for hours in either direction. The main buffet was decent, had some great food and some not so great food. omelets were excellent in the mornings and I was delighted they had delicious bacon. The problem with the buffet is it is very very noisy with the clattering of plates and people. Most food is not very warm, unless you get something cooked fresh off the grill. Evening dinners in the buffet often featured a large roast which was always good. lots of fish available as well. I highly recommend the beach restaurant for lunch. fresh grilled meats and fish in a quiet peaceful setting. Much nicer thatn the busy buffet and you get a view of the ocean. I ate lunch here most days. The snackbar at the pool was good but terrible busy. The pool itself was lovely, not very warm and there is no shade anywhere. I ate at 3 a la carte restaurants: Japanese, very fun and good, the Italian, very good, and the French, it was the best! the beef was incredible and was served under a silver dome. WE did one excursion to Havanna. I was told it was a 2 hour drive, and it is 140 kms BUT....bus took forever to pick up many guests from other hotels which made it 3.5 hrs to havanna from the time we boarded. the bus toilet was out of service. guide did make a washroom break en route. A few of the minor complaints at this resort are: - poor check in -not enough bartenders (lobby and beach had huge lineups) - room fridge was stocked daily with water, but rarely beer -over crowded lobby for evening entertainment -no shade at pool

Sol Varadero Beach: Bring a clean pillow case

Rooms were very run down and the spread and pillows are very stained. there is no disco and only 3 a la carte restaurants. The bathroom in the lobby’s were constantly out of both toilet paper and soap. The food is standard Cuban faire.the rooms overlooking the pools run the risk of being awake all night due to the partying. Beach is lovely! Missing a restaurant by the beach.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus Needs Help

Over all the Resorts is OK ..Most all staff are very accommodating . Check in is not till 4 so that needs to get fixed . Main Lobby Bar service poor , due to under staffing . Products not available at all during week , Amaretto ,Kahula to name a few .. Food was fine , Tasty but again long line ups to get food cooked .. needs to be fixed . Rooms are huge and are fine . Clean and staff very good . Over all at 3.5 at best not a 4 star location . Breakfast opens at 7:30 too late should be 7am .. Lun [... read more]ch the same 12:30 needs to be 12 .. Over all a good place but lacks staffing which would fix the line ups

Hotel Bella Costa: Worst experience

We stayed at this resort last week and let me tell you- the rooms were fitly. The first day we walked in there was blood on one of the toilet seats. The bed sheets were dirty. We had to ask for the room to be cleaned and sheets to be changed. The room smelled like mold. The grounds were not safe- there was a lot of safety concerns especially with the pool area. I will never ever go to this resort again even if it was offered for. Dust all over the counters. The public bathroom near the lobbies w [... read more]ere not working and not cleaned at all. You had to pick up several plates in the buffet area until you found a clean one. I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone.

Sol Varadero Beach: FIRST EVER CUBAN HOLIDAY

I seldom holiday in the winter and I would recommend this hotel. The grounds were kept with great care, the pools were amazing. The staff were very helpful and willing to assist or provide information wherever needed. The beds were very comfortable and I was very happy to find English speaking television stations. It was cooler when we were there so we did not use the pools but they were beautifully kept. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs to sit [... read more] on. For my first winter vacation it was a beautiful place and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Very nice resort

Good food except for the 24 hour diner always out of stock on popular items Great staff nice beach Great location Had a great time Oh my Would go back again The hotel should consider a shuttle into varedero

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: fair resort for price

Only complaint was the fact that the dining room is far too small for the number of guests. Always a lineup regardless whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even gets worse if weather is not good and guests stay on the resort

Palma Real: Palma Real Veradero Cuba

The hotel was run down worse over the last year. The food hasn't improved much and almost all the food was cold. I do not think they know how to use the steam table!!! The staff were fantastic. The maids who are to clean the front bathrooms really need to do a better job. Petty dirty. Most of the problem is the patrons are a bunch of dirty filthy pigs. I wonder if they treat their homes this disrespectful?!! It was a total disgrace to say I was a Canadian to see just how ignorant selfish  [... read more]ill manor the young were from Quebec. I would just love for our Prime Minister, Justin go there in disguise to see what humiliation they set for Quebec. They are very ignorant to all for Canadians and do not represent there province or set a good example.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Decent Resort

The resort grounds were very nice, clean, well maintained. The pool was nice and spacous but not ideal for swimming. The food was probably the second worst part of the resort, just after it's service. We waited for almost an hour before having our order taken and this was after we tried flagging down the server multiple times. noliDUO Havana Varadero: Disappointing

At one time this was likely a magnificent hotel! Great location, however it is definitely in need of attention. Rooms were okay, but none of the doors or windows would open and close properly (room entry door or bathroom) When we arrived, despite confirming the previous day, the hotel reception was not expecting us? The breakfast buffet was good, very nice setting on the top floor patio. The reception staff seemed very indifferent (sometimes bordering on rude) when responding to re [... read more]quests. BUT, the biggest problem: NO RUNNING WATER!! There was barely a trickle out of either the sink or the shower during our entire stay.

Playa Vista Azul: As advertised

Hotel, beach and grounds are beautiful and clean. Food is so so but you won't starve. If you like to party at night either bring your own fun or go to town. Staff and service are top notch. Hints - bring larger cups for coffee shop and bars, very small ones there only. also no straws available

Memories Jibacoa: Great Experience. Very nice resort

On arrival I wondered if I had made a poor choice in resorts. The room was not at all fancy, and the beach area was partly rocky, and not like I see on some of the beaches in other resorts. The shower was not working when I arrived and the room safe was not usable. Having said that, the room was quite adequate for my needs, traveling alone, and the shower was repaired in quick response. The staff all through the resort were amazing, and there was always something happening for the entertainm [... read more]ent of the guests. There are several excursions to choose from off site, and they were very interesting for me. The food was excellent and abundant. All the common areas inside and outside on the resort were very clean and nicely kept. This was a very nice experience for me, and I enjoyed my vacation time very much.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: a satisfactory experience

The grounds and public area were fine and the staff and service were excellent. We liked the size of the resort as it was small enough that you often remembered people you met the next time. Everything is very accesible for seniors

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Great escape!

Beautiful resort and beautiful people! Can't ask for nicer rooms. If you want good entertainment at night bring your own music and take your party to the beach or your room. If you're looking to complain for something you will find that no matter where you go. Food is simple but you don't have to cook or clean so who cares. Great place to escape!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Disappointed

We went to naviti for the 2nd time.I was really disappointed our first visit was great. We had no hot water for most our 2 wk stay.The food was cold and the same day after day.A lot of the buildings were closed also the hot tub was closed the 2nd week..The resort was run down the staff were mostly great a few were miserable. Not enough staff for the amount of guests.ladies at the Cohiba bar were amazing.I will definitely not return to this resort

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very nice resort

The resort was really good. Amazing friendly staff. The room was very clean. The pool is great. Lots of chairs for people. The beach is nice too. Not very big and can get crowded but still a very clean and beautiful beach. The food was ok, nothing really special. The a la carte restaurant is good but not being able to make reservations makes it hard to plan a night out as it fills up pretty fast and one of the 3 restaurants closes during the week.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good Resort

Close to beach great !!!! This was our second time staying there we found the food was not good always found something but they need to improve on that . Staff always wonderful polite helpful the buildings need a little upgrade The lobby bathroom needs constant attention !!!!!! But love the fact close to downtown not big at all as a resort There was always enough chairs at beach and pool. LIke I said just improve the food a little Would I go back to this resort Yes !!!!

Palma Real: Amazing resort !!

This resort was the second one Ive traveled too in cuba . I’d have to say it’s much better then Arenas Blancas . The food as usual in Cuba wasn’t the best but that’s just a cuba thing lol my advice is to bring your own ketchup and maybe other sauces. Then you’ll eat much better . The snack bar has a late breakfast which is nice for the mornings you want to sleep in . The hot dogs taste like home . The pools are clean , the lobby is nice the entertainment was amazing ! I brought my daughter for the first time to Cuba and to be honest it was a perfect resort ! The Safe were amazing I’d defenitly come back !!!

Roc Barlovento: Friendly pretty resort

Pretty grounds, food choice is good to play it safe with (potatoes, salad, omelettes, fresh grilled meat, rice, ice cream). Wish there were Bananas. Mayo didn't seem to be around for bacon and tomato sandwich quickies. The bacon isn't as cooked as us Canadians are used to so you can cook it longer on a grill or ask the chef to. There seems to be a lack of toilet paper availability at resort and throughout Varadero :( Ask bartenders for napkins and keep in your pocket for emergencies! Community b [... read more]ars of soap used in washrooms, usually had paper towels. Unheated pools with no deep end fyi. Only real frustration was when all 3 coffee machines got fixed/cleaned at same time.. this also stopped any tea service..had to pay at local restaurant for our morning/afternoon coffees. Fun drink mixes at the resort bars (sangrias, mojitos, pina coladas etc) and they will fill your personal large drink containers or use very small plastic cups. Good beer. Rooms facing the pool area have the best view if you don't mind hearing the action. Overall a pretty quiet resort (many senior guests) after the dance show finishes around 10:30pm. Dancers are a lot of fun with very good routines. The regular singer is excellent, he is fun too. Nice Cuban live music at resort. Female host is great and always friendly! Very good late night snack bar with hamburgers and awesome cheese/ham sandwiches. Beach is steps away and beautiful. Short walk to a market and local food etc. Staff good for connections to classic car taxis to Havana..2.5 hr trip but worth it..stop on way at lookout point between Varadero and Havana..gorgeous! Be careful with mixed drinks downtown Varadero..stick to canned beer..we've been sick for days ugh. A lot of smokers, but that's everywhere in Cuba, clean smoke-free dining areas. Wish buffet served tea and coffee all day, not just breakfast..have to get at front bar instead. Beds were 2 doubles, no king was available so not very couple friendly..ask ahead! Good air conditioning and nice tvs plus never saw a bug :)))
