Dreams Huatulco: Good Resort with potential

The Dreams resort on first blush is lovely, the staff at the resort I can’t say enough good things about they were outstanding and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time! On closer inspection the property is starting to show its age and is in need of painting, repairs to floor titles and toilet seats are needed on all toilets. The constant fight for beach chairs and access to palapas or umbrellas is ridiculous eit [... read more]her buy more chairs and umbrellas or limit the number of chairs people can lay claim to, I shouldn’t have to get up before 6am each morning while on vacation to ensure we had chairs and shade available either on the beach or by the pools. The food was ok nothing spectacular the best meal we had was at the Italian restaurant one evening but when we decided to go back there for our final supper the menu was the same but the food presentation and quality was completely different and not for the good.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Had a great time

Everything was well kept, the staff treated us like royalty. Its a smaller resort so there was a touch of closeness yet there was plenty to do matching any larger resort. Ocean was kept clean and there is a lagoon close by where one can snorkel for free with lots to see.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Friendly hotel

No fridge in room, rooms over pool needs renovation, bathroom especially. Food not always hot. No ice cream. However really loved all the extra touches example, shaved ice, cerveshe, pineapple and coconut. Service was great. Staff fabulious. Beautiful gardens, pool super. Beach club adequate.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Beauty resort

Beautiful large room overlooking the 3 pools and ocean The Grill restaurant was excellent On the 10th floor is the Sky Bar with a stunning view of the sunset every night .Food at buffet was normal but at the beach bar everyday was Wings Ribs Fish tacos Everything you could ask for for a lunch Drinks were premium also Smaller resort but very nice Close walk to town along the beach also I would reccomend this hotel Thanks again

Samba Vallarta: Comfortable, enjoyable stay.

The grounds and pool areas were immaculate. Meals in the Mexican and Italian restaurants were enjoyable. Buffet food was amazing - lots of food and lots of variety. The rooms themselves are outdated but kept exceptionally clean. All staff were very friendly and accommodating - AMAZING staff in all dining areas provided excellent service and kept the food and drink coming and coming .... :)

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very nice resort

Our trip started off a sour note, we had a single female friend travelling with us and had requested adjoining or rooms side by side. They had my wife and I and our single female friend in different buildings. We complained to our check in person named Gala, She got us in the same building but different floors( as good as it was going to be) As for the resort, the restaurants and food was very good, the restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful. Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Amazing resort

We stayed at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa Feb 25 to Mar 3. 2020 The resort is a really good size making it easy to get around Although it was hard to get into the ala cartes at time the food was all very delicious . There is a smoothie stand ice cream shop coffee cafe and burger stand besides all the restaurants which we enjoyed. Such a friendly lady as well Edwardo our lobby bar waiter was exceptional at remembering all our drinks and made us feel welcomed. The walk to Puerto Morales is about 50 minutes long from the resort but the sand is so soft and the breeze so cooling it didn’t seem that long at all especially when we stopped for a beer along the way. All in all I would have to say this was one of my favourite resorts

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing resort

This resort was top notch! It was always kept very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was A1 the liquor was top shelf. We loved the downtown feel with shops, restaurants and bars being in the same area. You could find quiet or a lively atmosphere your choice. Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer! Thanks Tanya for a great recommendation.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Phenomenal Staff

We enjoyed out stay very much. First of all I would like to say we travel quite a bit and have been to over 10 different resorts in Mexico since 1996. The one thing I would like to say about all the staff that work here they are all 10/10. Of all the places i have been too the staff were the best by far, I can not say enough about them. My favorite above all was Oscar Cach one of the waiters in the buffet, he just goes far and above with his amazing service and great sense of humor. The gro [... read more]unds were nice as I prefer the smaller resorts for getting around as I am a paraplegic in a wheelchair so makes it easier on me. The food in the Buffet was very good in fact probably the best we have had in Mexico. I wasn't crazy about the Italian restaurant as the food was bland they didnt even have fresh garlic in the kitchen just garlic oil. that should tell you everything you need to know right there! We tried the Brazilian steak house one night and again it was just ok but that is because i am used to eating the best meat in the world because i live in Alberta, nothing will touch that. We never tried the Mexican food restaurant. The burgers they cook outside in the little food van on the grounds were very good but sometimes the lines up's would get quite long. Now i did ask for an accessible room and Trip central was nice enough to phone and even confirm it which was great as no other company did that for me before as they always say they can not guarantee an accessible room. As for the accessibility of room I felt was not very accessible at all there was just one tiny grab bar beside the toilet that was up high and at an angle so almost useless. There should of been a lot more grab bars around the toilet I am just lucky that i am still strong enough to move my body around and i took things very slow and planned as it was scary. As for the shower it was a true roll in shower no step or bump which was great but the shower hose attached to the head was almost too short. I am just lucky i bring my own shower bench when i travel so was able to park it real close to the controls. But in all fairness to the resort I didn't complain or tell them and investigate further to see if they had better or "real" accessible rooms. They did have a phone by the toilet which is a must so that part was covered. If you like to party a lot you might not want to stay there as they shut their outside bar down at 11 pm every night and their lobby bar at Midnight. But you are right in Playa Del Carmen so you can go off to some bar or lounge if you wanted too but of course you would have to pay for your food and drinks then! Overall i would give the resort a 9 out of 10 at a minimum because everything was almost perfect for the 10 days we spent there. Food, customer service, smaller resort making it more personal. It was definitely one of the best times we have had in Mexico

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: 2nd year in a row - just as great!

This is our second year in a row going to PJ in Playa Del Carmen and we still love it! The rooms are big and spacious, the beds are so comfy with soft white duvets, the food is amazing and the staff are the best I've had. I've travel extensively throughout the Caribbean and I now consider PJ my go-to resort. The beach is non-existent but once you get over that, the resort is to be completely enjoyed! Last year, I wrote in advance to the resort and told them of my husband's inability to walk far and they gave us a room right beside the lobby. Wow! This year, they once again gave us one of the designated handicapped rooms at the lobby and it was so appreciated. Everyone worked so hard to make our trip memorable. From Natalie Collura at TripCentral who arranged wheelchairs at both airports, to Luis Nunez at the front desk at Panama Jacks to Julio who got my husband drinks all day at the pool, let me just tell you how grateful we are for all your efforts. This is a friendly, family oriented resort that goes overboard every day to make their guests welcome. I have no complaints whatsoever about this resort.

Riu Flamingos: Great vacation spot.

The resort was overall very good. The grounds were beautiful and there were many great areas to chill out. No shortage of chairs at the beach or pool. The food was great and we enjoyed all the al la carte restaurants.... with no reservations! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely go back.

The Sens Riviera: OK Resort

Spent 1 week with our 4yr old and 8month. Kids Club was amazing - highly recommend. Our 4yr old begged to go and he had an amazing time. Bernice was so friendly and really made him feel comfortable, and also made us feel comfortable leaving him there. But for being a kids focused resort, improvements are needed. Buffet should open earlier than 6pm, more highchairs are needed for sure as they were always scrambling to find one. Dinoland was awesome, a hidden gem really. But it should also  [... read more]open earlier - we went at 9:30am on our last day and it was not yet open. The beach was beautiful , we spent most of our time there and also the kids pool. We had a deluxe tropical view room - nothing fancy , definitely dated but we don’t spend time in the room other than sleeping, so it served its purpose. The resort seems very dated and needs some upgrades. Overall we had a great week, kids had a blast. But we would not go back.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: So much to do.

The resort is massive, yet you have everything you need close to you. We stayed at the Colonial but you have access to the other hotels. There is a lot to keep a family busy or you can sit and relax doing very little It is clean and service is excellent. You can get chairs in the shade at any time and the beach is great. The sea is warmer than the pool, which is too cold. I only managed to get in it 3 times! Al a carte restaurants are very good; lots of choice and good food. Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Small user friendly resort

Had a nice relaxing time at this resort. It is laid out very well and very easy to get anywhere is a short time. We met lots if nice people to chat with. Dining was very good. We really made use of the coffee shop and snacks! We have been to many adults only resorts in the Mayan and have to say this is our top so far!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Comfort that is world class

This was our seventh trip to this beautiful resort and it is consistently a paradise experience. We went with our family and we wake up to beautiful sunrises with palm trees sparkling with rays of sunshine, glasses of fresh orange juice with an abundance of tropical fruits, passion fruit and pineapple, family favorites, to a medley of buffet foods for everyone’s tastes. We love the cortado coffee ☕️ that makes us smile as we then relax before hitting the beach or pool. We play  [... read more]paddle ball every day and games as a family, botche ball or basketball are family favorites, and of course some jenga. We head every day to the sauna and ice pools and steam room to unplug more before getting ready for a family dinner. There are many restaurants to choose from and we always live the Japanese restaurant for the entertainment and the food is excellent. The Spanish is another favorite as the Lambchops are always delicicious. If you are a big dessert fan you may find the sweets are not always the best , but a steady diet of fresh fruits 🍉 is more than enough. House wines are ok but if a wine buff spend the extra $ for a quality wine. We love their margaritas so a week in Mexico drink their drinks instead and you will be happy. Beers are good to with Coronas with lime: our sons go to. Are we going back? Absolutely next year is year 8 or maybe 9 : have to check but this is a spot our family calls our Mexican home. The staff are always helpful and responsive: customer service and keeping the resort clean are top priorities for health and safety. Bon voyage: you won’t be disappointed!

Samba Vallarta: Amazing Quaint Resort

This is a beautiful resort. It is small and very family oriented. if you are young and looking to party this is not the resort for you. The staff are so very very friendly at this resort. They bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. The resort is clean. They don't allow people to eat around the pool which I really like. The rooms are a bit tired but you don't spend much time in the rooms anyway and the rooms are clean. We kept on hanging up our towels each night so that we [... read more] could use them the next day, but they gave us fresh towels every day. The food is good. There is enough variety that you don't get bored. They had fresh pineapple, tomatoes and cucumbers every day. We only tried the Italian a la carte and it was amazing. If you want a fancy resort, fancy lobby, millions of people and want to party this is not the resort for you. This is my third time going back and I will go again next year. I have finally found a resort that I want to come back to year after year. Just make sure that you pay for the balcony because if you don't you will get a room without.

Plaza Pelicanos Club: Nice resort

Hotel is nice for an older place.and staff is excellent. Lots of rocks on the beach if your walking on the beach. It was cleared near the hotel. Only thing it is missing is a workout gym on the property. All rooms should have balconies. Eating areas were clean and loved the made to order omelettes in the morning. All fresh fruits and vegetables were available. It's a 35 minute walk to the downtown area. Airport is 10 minutes drive .

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Stunning Resort!!

What can I say about the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar.... Amazing!! From the time we arrived, we were in awe of the fabulous resort grounds. Walking through a jungle like setting to get to the beach/pool was awesome. So beautiful and so many critters to observe. Flamingos, coatis, iguanas and too many birds to mention. Seeing the amount of "green areas" and being able to appreciate the nature in the resort was exactly what we love in vacationing. The room was clean and the fact that the resort is so environmentally friendly was comforting. Glass water bottles in each room with a refill station in the hallways was great. Food was excellent. Never had a bad meal and there was so many choices. Staff were very friendly and took the time to chat with you. Overall we would highly recommend this resort and hope to return one day!
