Hotel Playa Paraiso: Awesome resort

Our room had a king bed, modern and clean. The grounds are kept very well. The food was to our surprise great. All the staff very helpful and we never waited for anything. The pool is quite large no worries about bumping into someone but the best part of this resort is the beach. Unbelievable .....we spent the whole time on the beach. This resort is a little gem its small so everything is 2 minutes away. It's modern, clean, staff very attentive and helpful and good food. What more could you ask  [... read more]for. This is our 6th trip to Cuba and we would definitely go back to the Pestana.

Hotel Vigia: fair resort

hotel was a bit dated not a lot of choice for restaurants,west jet vacation team did not fill there obligation for a briefing on tours and excursions i had two appointments but they just didn't show up,i went to Thomas cook travel at the hotel and arrange a trip. i don't think i will travel west jet vacations again.

Tryp Cayo Coco: older resort needing repairs

NO hot water the whole time we there! got the run around when it would be fixed. sent to another room to shower and the washroom never cleaned after the persons that used it before. dirty towels on the floor and in the tub . 2 times the water was luke warm and no pressure.

Hotel Mojito: not great this time

Have been to mojito for the third time and found it just ok this time. Much more crowded this time and line ups for most things. Hotel in need of some repair and lack of toilet paper in the main bathrooms a little annoying. Also lack of soap and paper towels unacceptable. Staff are very hard working and friendly, always greeting you with a smile. They are the best thing about this hotel. Will probably not be back.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: quiet vacation

This was my third time stay at the Memories Flamenco Beach Resort. I enjoyed it as much as two previous times. Nice, clean room with a beautiful view on the ocean, good food - meats and fish freshly from the grill, fresh fruit and many other choices. The beach is nice, though there is a dead coral reef in some places, plenty of shade under the trees. When you are on the beach try to catch a sight of Mario - an iguana that comes to have a look at you from the top of a dead reef, hoping to be fed  [... read more]a banana or a piece of bread or an egg.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing activities staff

We enjoyed our stay despite a few hiccups. The activities staff saved our trip! They kept us busy, made us feel welcome and encouraged us to try new things. We had problems with our room and amenities, that should not have taken 5 days to correct.

Hotel Vigia: Great Value - Definitely Return!

A lovely small resort. The hotel & rooms are a little dated, but we loved our stay here. Beach is beautiful, staff friendly & helpful, a couple of room issues which were dealt with quickly & followed up by customer service to ensure we were satisfied. Food was ok - it's Cuba, after all. Front desk staff were helpful. All in all, great value for the money we paid, and would definitely return!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing resort

We loved everything about this hotel. The food was excellent and the rooms very large and clean. The staff were A1, there is not one thing we can complain about. There was a smell of septic one evening near the lobby but they were busy and we did not smell it again. We stayed in block 32 and want to stay there again. Great place for families, friends and retired couples.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good Resort

The resort itself was nice and clean. We found communication wasn't good. Lots of the workers don't speak or understand English very well at all. In the lobby for bus tours they could have had a speaker announcing what bus has arrived and for what tour. You had to always go to bus and ask where it was going. They had shows every night which where very good. If you like to snack bring your own chips, cookies, whatever you like. They don't have much and is expensive. You also need 25.00 Pesos to get out of Cuba at the airport, so put it aside when you get to resort. Rooms- nice and clean, had no deodorizers for the bathrooms Pools- very nice,clean , bar service was good Buffets - hours where not good , some of the servers where not friendly, some food over cooked and dry. They did have ketchup,mustard,salt & pepper. People did drink the water served in the buffets. Beach - water beautiful but to get into water there was lots of hard coral in areas that you had to walk over to get into water and some smaller rocks on beach. Beach bar was good. Public bathrooms - no paper towels and the air dryers basically just turned on and off. No deodorizers for the smell and lots of doors wouldn't shut. These are just things we notice. After all that we had a great time !

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great vacation!

The resort is beautiful, very modern. The beach is fabulous! Unfortunately I found it was cold while I was there so I didn't do any swimming or snorkeling as planned. Lot's of area to walk for long periods which was great. The food was okay but you don't go to Cuba for the food, right? Myself and the people I was with always found found and had no worries about going hungry. The service was good but they need to be much more generous with the bottled water in the rooms. Another good thing would  [... read more]be to provide maps as to where the buildings are when your checking in. Both myself and my father (we came in on different days) got lost trying to find the right buildings. Lighting up the signs with the building numbers would be a big help too! Overall I had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return other than the fact that I'd like to try a different island than Cuba (that was my 3rd trip to Cuba).

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Nice resort. Spotlessly clean room,lovely grounds

Staff was very friendly.each was beautiful. Kind of typical Cuba food, but one does not go to Cuba for the foode. I still managed to gain weight while there! One thing I would like to see changed is for them to stop playing that LOUD thumping music all the time, and stick to more Cuban music, or something that could generally appeal to many; not just YOUNG people.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing week at the Colonial

I must admit that after seeing the reviews on line, I was very nervous about choosing the Colonial. Our family of four went from Jan 28 -Feb 4, 2015 and absolutely LOVED it. Really not sure what all the negative comments are about. The resort is small....and has lots of great places to hang out. It has the feel of a spanish village vs. an American plush resort. Close to the pool and lots of other amenities. Quiet. Our maid was amazing. Lovely personality. Rooms were kept spotless. Safe in the room - worked great. Both pools are open and good. The beach is incredible. White smooth sand. Aqua water. Can walk for miles. The food is ok. It's Cuba. You don't come to Cuba for the food. At the buffet the meat grill was typically good.....pasta bar......omelettes for breakfast......some other things not so sure about.... Three a la carte restaurants. Highly recommend the Italian one. Entertainment at night was lovely and lots of fun. Interactive, cuban music. Michael Jackson show was FANTASTIC! Staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, there are some renos and construction going on - but it did not get in the way of anything. The older buildings that are needing work are closed down. We really enjoyed our time. It is a great resort and I would highly recommend it. I think the key is to understand you are at a resort that is more typical of Cuban culture, and if you are able to relax, enjoy that and go with the flow.....you will love it!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Somewhat Disappointing

Based on all the great reviews that i read prior to booking this resort my expectations were pretty high thus the lower rating. overall it was a nice week and you can't beat the price. The most frustrating part for me was the inconsistency in service, food and just about everything else ranging from fantastic to not so great. i will use the buffet as one example. This resort has trmendous potential and a little better management and quality control would go a long way towards consistent excellence. We travelled as couple and this seems to be more of a family oriented resort; be careful when you book as some weeks they have free children promotions and the week that we were there they were everywhere which was not expected during school time. The lack of oversight at the pool was another minor annoyance with people claiming lounge chairs very early in the morning and not using them for hours if at all - we were only able to get access to chairs on the last day there. I am not sure why they do this but you have to line up for the 3 a la carte restaurants from 3-5 PM on you first day there in order to get reservations and even than the hours and availability is very limited. having to line up is annoying enough but having to do it 3 times for 3 differnet restaurants on the same day is rediculous. I know that i have been overly negative and left out the positive experinces but that was done on purpose to try and balance out these reviews to a more realistic rating. I have travelled extensively in the carribean and this is my third time to Cuba so it is not like i was tottaly uaware of what to expect.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Had a great time, but some things could improve

All in all, it was a great trip that we made the most of. I was a little bit worried though, as I had never been to Cuba and I had heard they didn't have the best food. There were certain things that they didn't have (chips, peanut butter, jams, nachos and cheese), but there was always a huge buffet with lots of variety. I always had something to eat . When it wasn't windy, the ocean was beautiful and so calm (there was only 1 day out of 7 where there was no wind). You could see everything on the ocean floor because the water was crystal clear. The pool was nice too. And the entertainment staff were very nice and a pleasure to watch perform. I enjoyed watching the shows. They are all really good dancers - the only thing we didn't see were any acrobatic type shows. There were shows 6 out of the 7 days we were there, and of the 6 shows, two were the same show (Michael Jackson), and one night was only people from the audience. The shows are one of my favorite parts and I only got to see 4 shows essentially, so I was a bit disappointed about that. I wish there was a different show with the entertainment staff entertaining me every night. The disco was not bad - there were times were there was alot of cuban/salsa type music, but they did play some songs that are popular, so that helped and people responded and danced more to the "hit songs". They really should open the windows or have some air conditioning running in the disco, because it was always so hot and stuffy in there it was very hard to dance because you were sweating so much and couldn't breath. With no air flow in the disco, it also had an odour to it all the time, that was not pleasant. And at the disco, there was no security monitoring it. I know there is drinking everywhere, but who brings their kids out to the disco at midnight?? And why is there no one monitoring that? The one and only time the adults can actually get away from the kids, at the disco bar, and the parents bring their kids. Again, I know there is drinking around the kids all day, but there is a time and place for the kids, and at the disco at midnight is not the place. Someone from the resort should be monitoring this and intervening . The resort was really big and there was a lot of walking. And the beach wasn't right next to the pool, it was quite a walk away, so the only thing it would have been nicer if it was just steps away. We were in building 9, which was pretty far away of a walk from everything, especially the beach. We paid extra in hopes of getting a closer room (in buildings 1-4), but that didn't happen. I am not sure what would have needed to be done in order to make sure to get those rooms. We had a group of 14 of us, and we were split up in buildings 6 and 9, which again, was disappointing. When we arrived at 2:45pm to check in, they said the room was ready. They would not let us take our luggage to our rooms, they said they bell boys would deliver it, so we asked it be delivered as our room was ready. We waited until 5:00pm, 2 hours for our luggage!!!!!! That was too long to wait, especially because my luggage was there in plain view in the lobby for me to grab (next time I will insist I bring it myself). And we had to be in the room to accept it, so there was 2 hours, in my room, without my luggage or anything, so I lost out on some precious time. The balcony door did not lock, our tub was plugged and we had no hot water. We asked at the front desk to have those issues fixed. The next day the tub and water was fixed, but they never fixed our door (9215). I was happy they fixed the hot water situation though. We tried to book our a la cartes on the 3rd day,but they were all full and booked for the rest of the week, so that was disappointing for sure. And I do not like the way you have to book the a la cartes (between 3-5 at the entrance to one of the a la cartes). On our welcome info card, it said the a la cartes could be booked at the front desk between 9am-5pm (I think having to break and come back in from the beach or whereever, which is a super long walk, just to wait in a ridiculous line to book a dinner, is a bit crazy). The one lady (only the one lady out of the two of them) booking the dinner was not as friendly as I would have liked. While waiting in line, waiting to be greeted, she did not even acknowledge us and proceeded to take other people who just arrived, and didn't go in order of the line. I was very upset with the whole booking system of the a la cartes, it DOES NOT WORK WELL. I think it should be like what it says on the card, 9-5 book in the main lobby. There were a lot more kids then I expected. I have never been to an adults only resort, so there have always been kids everywhere I go, but this resort had probably more kids then adults. It was a lot more then I expected and would have liked. They did have their own kiddie pool, but it was small, and for the amount of kids, it would never be sufficient, so they moved up to the swim up bar pool. A lot of the adults I found did not supervise their kids, and there was never anyone around reinforcing the adults to watch their kids. Some of the kids were very disrespectful (and others were just great). I think a lot of the negative experience is due to the adults not watching or caring what their kids were doing. If the kids are misbehaving and splashing or whatever, its up to the adults to intervene, so a lot of this is due to poor parenting, but again, someone needs to be supervising this too because their drunk parents don't care. The first couple days were pretty windy, and when the clouds would roll in and the suns heat wasn't beating down in you, I found it a bit cooler (and those couple of evenings I found it cooler....a lot of people were walking around with sweaters). The weather the last 3-4 days was amazingly hot and there weren't many clouds in the sky at all, so finally managed to get the sun I wanted. All in all, the rooms, food, drinks, entertainment and weather were pretty good (considering it was my first time and I was a bit worried about the food and accommodations).

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful time spent with great friends

The beautiful aqua blue ocean,the white soft sand, the Cuban people, the snorkeling, the cappicinno, and a great group of friends, what more could one ask for. The resort was well kept but needs just a bit of upgrading, our maid Dayamy was wonderful, from the gardners to the bartenders, the chefs to the food service, everyone worked so hard to please their quests.Our group stayed for 2 weeks, nearing the end of our glorious vacation we all seemed to be ready for home. I have a small complaint, k [... read more]nowing that the resort and the chefs do their best to serve and provide tasteful dishes, they need to prepare their chicken. fish and pork in different ways, in the two weeks there was no variety what so ever. The buffet was exactly the same nearly every day. I wil praise their BREAD, it is amazing, fresh every day. And their soup is very tasty also. Their breakfast is the best meal of the day, their snack bar makes awesome pizza and if you are lucky you may get bbq'd pork ribs at the beach. Would I go back, I will say yes but only for 1 week.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great Vacation!

When we saw that this hotel was a 3.5 in Cuba, we really were not sure what we were getting ourselves into, but other reviews were really good and the price was great. Overall, we would give it a 4 star for sure! We found the food to be pretty good (remember you are in Cuba), but who can complain about fresh coconuts everyday, freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious coffee, and yummy grilled seafood everyday?? I also found that I would have a big heaping salad everyday and it was delicious with [... read more] fresh fruit. The staff were amazing. We had one issue with our room (started to smell like swage on the 3rd day) but they switched our room right away and even gave us a choice between three rooms. We were really taken care of. We didn't find it over crowded at all and were impressed with the beach. All in all it was a great vacation for us and we would return.

Sol Cayo Coco: Sol Cayo Coco - Great staff

The grounds are lovely and the beach is amazing. If this place was updated it would be a jewel. The rooms are clean but the furniture is shabby (not chic), the beds are hard (my husband has a nice mark on his backside from the springs). The rooms are clean, bright and spacious however the curtain was covered with mildew. There is a safe which costs 2 pesos per day extra, no coffee maker or clock. Two bath towels and one hand towel only. The water pressure was not great. Plenty of storage space.  [... read more]The mini fridge has one bottle of water only, there were two days when we didn't get any water. When we were there, there was no problem getting loungers on the beach or by the pool but maybe that was because the weather was cool and windy all week. There was always pool towels available. The buffet was the same everyday but had something for everyone. There was a grilling station for fish, beef, chicken and pork (same tongs for all the meat). Pasta station, desert, fruit, salad and soup everyday. Breakfast had an omlette station, smoothie station and the servers were great. The bartenders and animation staff were all awesome, friendly and helpful.

Hotel Playa Coco: Standard Cuba resort

My sister and I got back from Hotel Playa Coco last Friday, weather overcast a lot but way better then here. The staff makes the place, food was typical for Cuba. I have stayed from 3 star to 5 star other than a bit more variety all the same. There is renovations going on so be prepared but it did not effect our stay, we met people who paid less and more then us, I would have to say if u can get this place for 6-700 go for it. Grounds and resort kept cleaned but I will say the sheets in our room [... read more] were never changed and I voiced my concern to the front desk but nothing done about it along with no screens on the patio doors which would of been nice to be able to have the wind and sound of ocean if opened but if u do the bugs come in. While we were there 3 ladies traveling together got money stolen and I am a 100% sure it happened... The maid did it they didn't lock their safe properly and with further investigation the maid admitted to doing it. Toilets don't work well in rooms which was a problem for a lot of the travelers there, no face cloths so bring your own, hope this helps.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: awesome

Excellent place to visit a had a very good time there the staff is terrific recommend for families and couples food is also very good rooms are average for the price I think is worth it beach is super clean I will be back
