Melia Las Dunas: Just got back form Las Dunas with a few tips
Check in was okay with no major hick ups...the rooms are clean nothing special it is Cuba so to be expected . Food also was ok for Cuban standard .May change with the embargo being lifted (at one point in time).Staff was hit or miss as this resort is huge and you may not see staff more than a few times in a week except your chamber maid ( ours was great) 1.5 plus hours from airport...bring bubba mug...bring sweater for nights as cool and windy ( we travelled feb 4-11 and evening hit 17 degrees) [... read more]
Tryp Cayo Coco: Had a great time
Just got back from Tryp Cayo coco We stayed for two weeks We had a great vacation the food in the specialty restaurants very very good The beach was really beautiful The only thing I think would help this resort is to update the rooms The staff are friendly Would definitely recommend this for the price
Melia Las Americas: It's what your braclet says
We found that if you were a repeater guest you got first class service if your first time their you are treated like a outsider the funny thing we have spent 20,000 in this resort and braclets the same from the first
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Melia Peninsula Varadero - beautiful
We just returned from our first trip to Cuba - Varadero. The staff at this resort were amazing, everyone is only to happy to make sure you have a great vacation. Smiles, service and a great attitude. The grounds were immaculately groomed and the pools were clean and spotless. The beach is gorgeous - clear and turquoise waters. Food was very good - although most might expect to have everything "just like home" - that will not be the case. Both the buffet and the a la carte restaurants have a wide [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Great for families!
As a family of five, we're always challenged to find all-inclusive resorts that can house all of us in one room. The Melia Marina was a perfect compromise. We spent a week in the Melia Marina Apartments (about 5-10 minutes' walk from the hotel/resort), and were upgraded from a 2-bedroom to a 3-bedroom on arrival - without even asking. It had three full bathrooms, was every bit as bright and lovely as it appears in pictures, and was larger than the main floor of our house! Apartments vs hotel: W [... read more]
Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing atmosphere
Our room was kept very clean every day. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Although the food is good, just redondant during the second week! We always sat in the same area to have the same waitresses who gave us good service. I would squeeze lemon in my water. Once they got to know me, they would have it ready for me! We were happy to tip one peso each meal.
Melia Las Dunas: Great resort for cuba
Overall pretty good for Cuba! We were not expecting much after being in Varedero approx 10 years ago and not enjoying much of that experience. After a week, Jan 30 to Feb 6 2015, we actually said there was nothing to complain about. Remarkable for Cuba! Service was excellent, towels everyday, fridge restocked everyday, buffet very good and al lacarte restaurants excellent. We ate at the Oriental, Seafood and Italian. All great. Beach was good but palapas very close together. Beach was very busy [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: Almost great!
We enjoyed our stay at the Sol Palmeras. Our room was clean and comfortable, the housekeeping was good, we felt safe and the beach was clean with good sand. The food on the buffet was good with a great fish grill. We had onl went to the steak house and Mexican ala carte. The steak was good but we left without finishing our meal in the Mexican resort. We enjoyed the lounge entertainment but for us the sound was too loud with a poor sound system for the other nightly shows. Some toasters that work [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus Princess is Fabulous
This was my first all inclusive resort vacation and now I have been spoiled! The Paradisus Princess Del Mar was beautiful. We took the advice of other reviewers and booked the Royal Service and it is worth every extra cent. The private bar, restaurant and beaches are great; but the best is the butler service eliminating the hassle of having to book anything on your own
Hotel Camino del Mar: Melia Cayo Guillermo Cuba Very Nice Resort
The grounds of the resort are lovely. The beach is outstanding and the people working at the hotel are wonderful...friendly,hard working, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Transportation from the airport, and check in went quite smoothly. The food is good and there is a fairly good variety. The evening entertainment was very good. We were very impressed with Daniel, an outstanding guitarist, who put us in mind of Jesse Cook. Draw backs were the rooms were somewhat tired and need a little [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Relaxation in Cayo Coco
Great place to go and relax. Clean hotel and well manicured grounds. Staff are beyond freindly and helpful to make your vacation a pleasure. The beach is one of the most beautifuil beaches I have travelled to.
Starfish Cayo Largo: Amazing Beaches!!!!!!!
Typical Cuban resort, slightly overrated. At arrival rooms were not ready so he had to wait for about an hour. Room a bit small, with two double beds, and fairly clean. Have to pay two peso per day for safe. Grounds fairly clean but overall buildings and other facilities in need of some renovations. Food was good but occasionally they might run out of some items (eggs, bear?????), it's an island so deliveries are not that frequent. Fantastic beach, probably one of the best you'll ever see especi [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Very good. Very few "let downs"
Royal Service was worth the expense. Private cabanas, pool, restaurant, butler, etc.... Food was better at private restaurant. Beach in this area had quite a bit of coral was up which was strange because it was clean a little further down.
Starfish Cayo Largo: Excellent Place
What a great resort, very clean, super friendly people, awesome food. From being on Masterchef Canada season 1, I know food, this was great food, great selection, there is something for everyone, even had fresh made pasta, as this resort now has a Italian Chef overseeing the resorts food. Nude beaches are amazing, it was fun to take it all off in front of others ;) No tan lines.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Relaxing vacation
A quiet, well laid out & well kept facility with very friendly & competent staff but it is starting to show it's age a bit. Swimmers will be disappointed by the beach as there is a lot of coral making entry difficult and quite small & crowded where the umbrella's are. Entertainment is varied & competent. Food is a bit of an issue. While their is lots of it, we found that they need to cater more to healthy eating, not enough whole grains, fresh vegetables, too much salt & sugar but the seafood is [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Fabulous
The grounds were beautiful with lots of area to walk and even a botanical garden. The staff were very professional, friendly and good at their jobs. The food was great with lots of variety. The Al a cartes were excellent with great offerings. The beach was beautiful and the snorkelling was usual for Cuba. Our only recommendation is not to fly with Cabanna Air as our plane was in rough shape and caused delays. Although the staff were extremely competent.
Hotel Vigia: fair resort
hotel was a bit dated not a lot of choice for restaurants, west jet vacation team did not fill there obligation for a briefing on tours and excursions i had two appointments but they just didn't show up,i went to Thomas cook travel at the hotel and arrange a trip. i don't think i will travel west jet vacations again.
Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Resort is beautiful, but has some issues
The resort itself is spotless, the dining rooms are beautiful, the food is in need of improvement, I got food poisoning, after that was afraid to eat much. The service the waiters etc. was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, but the cleaning of rooms was very , we came back from the beach late afternoon to find the room still not made up No makeup mirrors in the room was my wife's pet peeve. The helicopters buzzing the beach all day made it hard to relax on the beach. The seaweed on the beach wa [... read more]
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful resort with potential to be 5 star
The beach is the star attraction. Immaculately clean, powdery sand, abundance of lounge chairs, kayaks, pedal boats, Hobie Cats and clear gentle water with good snorkelling at the Paradisus end. Since there are only 2 hotels sharing the beach, it never feels crowded. There are 2 grand lobby areas, open to the sea breezes with bars and lots of seating. Entertainment is provided daily/nightly in the lobbies and in a large, airy theatre. There are 2 large free form pools that are very well maintain [... read more]
Tryp Cayo Coco: older resort needing repairs
NO hot water the whole time we there! got the run around when it would be fixed. sent to another room to shower and the washroom never cleaned after the persons that used it before. dirty towels on the floor and in the tub . 2 times the water was luke warm and no pressure.
