Our seven days were simply perfect. From long walks on the gorgeous beach to perfect days at the pool. Amazing staff and friendly service everyday. Would come back in a heartbeat. Next time will be at the Ambar for adults only!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Very nice resort!
It is a very beautiful resort! Really great staff! Nice pools and great beach. Really good selection of restaurants as well. I have no complaints. It's a nice size for the amount of people that stay there. You can find some quieter spots if you want or party spots if that's what you want

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: not a place i would ever return to
We were there for 2 weeks and everything was only ok we always found enough to eat.The place was clean. The beach and weather were awesome.But----------The food was only ever luke warm or cold, beef and pork tough and tasteless.Alot of europeans in resort and they catered to their taste in food. There was never much variety. The resort was understaffed and everything was self serve. We enjoy the staff at other resorts. There were a few there after a few days when they realized we were canadian and we [... read more]wanted them to be friendly. There were no coffee machines in rooms .We had to pay for our safes.Neither of which we came across before. Our fridge wasnt cold and there were no beverages in itother than 2 water. We lost power 3 times no water one whole afternoon.Irealize this happens sometimes but we had never had before. We went to the spa .That was great.Every night we all got eaten alive by bugs.We all came home will welts on our legs. Also there were alot of familys there with small kids .We should have been warned about that.We all love kids but we didnt want topay 4thousand dollars to spend 2 weeks with them.I think we should have been told that and we would not have went there. Also our room was very old shower was horrible.Animation team were good but once again only a few of them so the inter action with the guests were not what we were used to.We took in a few shows and they were good.As i said we always found something to eat and we enjoyed our 2 wks but nowhere near worth what we paid. Also no irons in room. Its those little things that make a big difference

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Not ALL That!
Aside from the food EVERYTHING else was a Poor excuse...
Arrived mid-morning to Be Live ushered into a meeting room to find out our rooms would be available at 3pm (at which point our room was not ready) and to be briefed on their "issues" locals constantly asking to sign up for excusions etc etc never mind the locals/vendors asking you to take photo, hair braids, beads etc.
96% of the staff spoke little to no english.
95% of the serving staff we visited at the RSVP dining restaurants did no[... read more]t accommidated us with a friendly greeting or offered us drinks. We would wait and wait for them to approach us even upto 15mins (= Mediterrain Restaurant) Not at any of these restaurants did we get an explaination on how the menu worked = options to choose from.. 2 from here 1 from this sections.. noone said "help your self A-la-cart is right there for you while you wait" etc etc
3 maids walked in.. on 3 seperate occasions. Keep that "do not disturb" sign on the door was quickly used and ignored... even when u tell them your in the bathroom they will still walk in and do what they have to do and then quickly leave.
Our room (ceiling) dripped water constantly.
Our bath tub had brown spots left over from their construction.
We had 8-6 hours without any running water on day 2 of our stay. Try showering and getting to dinner on time.
We had 2 hours without running water on day 3. Again, when we needed to be showering.
No clean/ mopped floors for the whole week, 2 of the 7 days no made beds, 2 of the 7 days no clean towels (not the same days..of course). I looked at those coffee stains day in and day out and asked myself why was I evening tipping?
Music blarring from adjacent rooms at 2-4 am - No courtesy
We found our safe opened (thankfully nothing taken) but opened non-the less due to an issue which they couldn't fix - but i eventually did.
Front Desk would only say "sorry for the inconvenience" never sent clean towels, anyone etc etc. never rectified the issues or offered us another room.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: It was ok! Not somewhere I would go back to!
Not a resort that I would return to! On arrival, they had the room under my husbands middle name when I was the one who booked it! We had to wait for our room which was fine as we went to the buffet! When returning at 3pm to get our key cards, the attendant walked away without even letting me know what she was doing, returned 15 minutes later and told me the room wasn't ready. Finally after 45 minutes, we got to our room. There were no beach towels or bathroom towels. After another trip to[... read more] the main reception, we waited again for 30 minutes for towels. All week, the service was poor! Our personal Concierge was only seen on two days. The room was great - we had an updated suite! The food was the same day after day - there was very little variety even though they stated they had different themes. We only received one a la carte as half the restaurants in the resort were closed. The beach was beautiful, the pool was great (never had a pool that was over 6 feet deep before) and the grounds were very well kept. The bartenders tended to over-pour your alcohol. The water park was a ten minute walk from the resort and open to the public on certain days. We only went once as it was packed. On two evenings, there were venders lined up down the main walkway selling their wares, they were very pushy and some became rude when you said no thank you. My son enjoyed swimming in the pool and ocean every day, the weather was great and it was a week away from the daily grind!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Good resort
Great beach. Excellent food. The rooms were nice. The ala carte restaurants were excellent and the service at those restaurants were fabulous. Room service was good. Staff service and guest service was poor. Guest service employees were unprofessional and booking ala cartes was stressful, staff were rude and did not book us for any of the ala cartes that they said we were booked for.
If it were not for the great beach, excellent food and otherwise friendly staff, our trip would have been r[... read more]emembered as a stressful encounter with rude employees.
Also this resort has the feel of an annoying telemarketer, as you are solicited by the resorts staff in every build to book trips only through them and not travel agents. Mia you like talking to telemarketers during dinner time then go to this resort.

Secrets Royal Beach: Beautiful Resrot
Secrets Royal Beach was absolutely beautiful... the grounds were well-kept and romantically lit in the evenings, rooms were spacious and clean, service was good.
Large, white sand beach but quite a bit of seaweed. We did not spend near as much time on the beach/in the ocean as we have in previous years at other locations.
Highly recommend a swim-up room; poolside bar service meant that we could relax in our own "private" setting whenever we didn't feel like being part of the crowd. I[... read more]t made for a very relaxing holiday.
Our favorite spots were the pool bar, the beach grill, Tamarindo (Mexican restaurant at Larimar), and Oceana (Seafood restaurant at Secrets).
Pay attention to the dress codes at certain restaurants prior to travel to make sure you are equipped! None are out of the ordinary, but we did spot a group giving the staff at Oceana a hard time because the men did not have closed-toed shoes.
We did very much like the food on the resort (and at the neighboring Larimar) but I will mention that 3 of the 4 travellers in our group got sick during our stay; 2 of which had taken Dukoral prior to trave. Sickness varied, lasting from 2-6 days. It is difficult to say whether this is a direct result of food/water on the resort but it seems likely, given that no one had consumed tap water or food from outside the resort grounds.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: What a beautiful resort.
This was truly an exceptionally wonderful experience for us. The hospitality was of a high standard and the staff at the resort ensured that our expectations were met during the 7 nights (April 13/18 thru April 20/18) spent there. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were of a very high standard along with the daily and nightly entertainment.
We are going to return to this resort and would highly recommend this hotel as a vacation destination to our family and friends.

We love this hotel, for the location, for the service, for the beach, for the beautiful grounds, clean rooms.
Friendly service, help. We stayed at this hotel 8 times, and will go again and again.
Who ever criticize this hotel must have very very high expectations. For this kind of price what else they want.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great value/good resort
This is a huge 5 star resort, and has pretty well everything. The pool is in the shape of the number "8", is huge, has a kids area, a whirlpool and a bar. There are also several kids and family games organised round the pool area, during the afternoons.
Several restaurants are available to handle your hunger, however our favorite ones were the two (all you can eat) buffet style. The vast variety of food available, and all was absolutely delectable and tasty. The service is exceptional. They[... read more] constantly chearfull, bring you water (and drinks), and remove your used/empty plates.
The beach and lawn chairs area must be experienced. The calmness and soft sound of the waves rushing onto the sand. The beach includes a bar and a dance/exercise area (with loud music).
The nightly entertainment by the pool was appreciated.
The rooms are well laid out, comfortable and spacious.
However...room service was horrible. When we returned to our room in the late afternoons, we either had to request blankets or face cloths. These were items the were removed from our room, but were not replaced. I find it absolutely unacceptable to provide room service (clean the room/replace towels/etc.) and forget to leave face cloths. This happened several times. The sign on the mini bar/fridge indicated that it is replenished daily, however that did not happened.
Also, we had had to call for burned ceiling bulb, etc.
I was really disappointed with the room service from a 5 star resort. To be fair to the readers, I'm not sure if this was simply an isolated incident, rather then the norm. I may return to this resort, however my room expectations will be lower.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Vacation
We just came back from a weeks holiday at Be Live Collection. Overall we had a great trip and will definitely return. Check in at resort could use some tweeking as its a little hard with communication barrier and unorganized (this was our experience) with room and VIP services we were suppose to have. Don't get sucked in to the "welcome gift" offered by the light brown button up shirt and dress pants guys unless you are interested in time shares. The resort is fairly big and is well maintained w[... read more]ith lots of pools throughout. There are 16 blocks with the higher blocks being furthest away and is a bit of a distance away from main lobby and buffet so careful on where you book. The VIP areas are very nice and highly recommended for eating at a seperate buffet and having private areas on the beach. We stayed in Block 16 the newer block and our room was very nice but little loud sometimes at night as its near the roads and local vendor stores and outdoor pub. But we had a fairly private pool with a bar pool side and was great away from the main pool if needed so pros and cons in this area. The resturants were really good, buffets had good variety and the burger house had decent variety to choose from. Staff at the Aqua buffet by far the friendliest, very professional at the el cartes and found little overwelmed staff and some not so friendly at main buffet but it holds alot of people so Im sure alot on them keeping up. Overall we had a great trip and will return for sure but hope to get somewhere near middle of resort.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Average Resort
We stayed at this resort the week of April 13th to 20th, 2018. This is an older resort with nice mature grounds. Upon arrival we were unimpressed by the lobby but was clean. We arrived around noon and tried to check in after a considerable wait - not due to any huge crowds but due to “system issuesâ€. After some time we received our bracelets and were told to return around 3 because our room was not ready. So a good part of day 1 was wasted at the lobby. When we returned close to 3 t[... read more]here was another huge lineup. Eventually we got our room. It was clean but average. Food was ok, unless you’re really picky you’ll find something. Don’t have any complaints about the staff at the restaurants, they all work long days and we’re very attentive for the most part. We ate at most of the a la cartes and they were ok. We never had to wait for a table but this could’ve been because the resort was not full. I sense this would not be the case during the busy season. The beach is lovely and there were always many chairs available. Again possibly because the resort was not at capacity.
There wasn’t too much in terms of fun games and activities at the beach, there were some activities at the pool but nothing like I’ve seen at other resorts. Evening entertainment at the theatre was average. What we did enjoy was that they had a variety of live musicians and singers performing at one of the lobby bars every evening near the main lobby. The resort is really large but they do have trollies circling the resort on a regular basis. These are not the typical golf cart looking ones but actually look like little trains with a caboose.
Bottom line, the resort was ok, wasn’t the best nor the worst we’ve stayed at in Punta Cana. Had I not got a really good last minute deal, I would’ve been disappointed but for what we paid, it was ok.
Special mention to our travel agent Victoria Sullivan who was very responsive and attentive whenever I had questions.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nothing but positive
This resort is by far one of best we have ever visited. We were here for ten days and have nothing but positive to report. From the rooms, getting around the resort, the staff, all positive. For the size of this resort it is very well organized, the food was top notch and no waiting at the buffet to fill your plate. Probably one of the most impressive things was how clean everything was. Excellence Punta Cana: Excellent Resort
What can I say that has not been said already. This was our first time at the Excellence Punta Cana. We have stayed at the Excellence in Mexico and knew what we should be getting and we were not disappointed. From the time we arrived we were welcomed with open arms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The newly renovated rooms are nice and clean. The food was excellent from the buffet to the restaurants. We were a group of 10 and no matter where we went at night time for our meals they were very accommodating. thanks to the help of Yaritzabel who helped in making this possible. The only drawback was that there were no floaties for the pool. I know this is minor but for a non swimmer it meant that I did not spend to much time in the water. All in all if you have not tried an Excellence please do you will not be disappointed.

Ancora Private Residence Yacht Club and Marina: Great Family Resort
We just returned from our 7 night vacation at the Alsol Luxury Village and loved every minute of our stay.
I booked an all-inclusive package with Air Transat departing from Toronto. I did a lot of research on this resort before booking.
The room: was clean and so spacious. We booked a 2 bedroom. It was perfect for our family - 2 adults and 2 boys 8 and 10. Housekeeping always promptly made up our room, and the fridge was stocked with water and pop. We always had an adequate supply of towe[... read more]ls and face cloths as well. The room was one of the main reasons I chose this resort, and it certainly met my expectations in very way. Only negative, not much on TV, but we had brought DVDs and had Netflix, so no issue.
The food: I read of a lot of negative things about the food and personally we never had any problems, we were always full and enjoyed every meal. Even my kids, whom have never left Canada, were satisfied. Really something for everyone, and I found the service at all of the restaurants friendly and quick. We ate at Mariners buffet, Italian, Steak and the Alsol poolside grill. There are no issues making dinner reservations you just have to check the daily newsletter to see what is open each morning. We did try room service once and it was quick and very good also. That is a very nice included feature and loved having the option available.
The pool: we used the main pool at Luxury the most. We did go over to Tiara to use the beach once, which we found adequate but boys did not enjoy the salt water and preferred the swimming pool. There are multiple pools available, and the main pool at Luxury was used was fantastic, never had to rush to find a nice spot and it was never busy or crowded at all. The beach is small and man-made, I don't think typical of many Dominican resorts so as long as you know this in advance.
Activities: The activity staff at the pool were wonderful, my boys loved all the games played and winning the certificates. They loved using the ping pong table. We attended only one evening show, on our last night ... the circus performance which was good.
We did use the beach shuttle once during our stay. Not the best experience but this was absolutely no fault of the hotel. They provided the shuttle as promised, but shortly after we arrived very bad weather moved in and we were stuck there, on the beach in the pouring rain. We paid for a taxi to come back and all was fine.
We had a very quick photo session one day at the pool, where a photographer from the Tiara side came around. It was very quick, there was no pressure to buy, they did the shoot with us and then said if we wanted to see the pictures/buy, to come over to the Tiara. I did of course and ended up purchasing ... I thought the price was fair, and they are very nice pictures, good quality. I heard him say he has a monkey, a snake and a parrot that he alternates each time he is out doing shoots. We had the monkey that day, he took some pictures with the monkey and some just with us.
Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time. We did provide some tips, but nothing over the top and not every time. The staff really do provide excellent, very friendly service and when we did tip it was well deserved. We would most definitely return and recommend to anyone who is considering the resort. I hope we are lucky enough to return again next year.
