Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Friendly Atmosphere

Great staff.Grounds beautiful. Beach was great. Pool cold.Rooms are large and comfy. Food at Main buffet was always cold even when brought out fresh. Lunch buffer behind snack bar w as great. The best Pina Colandas. Would recommend only if the the temp. Of the food improved.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: It was okay........

Hotel was clean, needed updating and we had many issues with the room. The bed broke in half, patio door fell off. etc. Maids worked the hardest and were lovely. Service was terrible. Completely understaffed. Too much management that did nothing. Gardner's always popping out of the bushes to sell you things. Was not at all what I expected. ok for quiet older folks as long as they are ok with stairs and young babies toddlers. not ok for active folks with teens. Lots of activities listed on websit [... read more]e were not available,Diamond club not worth it at all, secluded area on beach for diamond club only members had just a hand painted sign nailed to a tree. bartender kept beer in a used jug. Lots of staff seen filling vodka into their water bottles. food/drink hygiene was very sketchy. No snacks anywhere even at store in lobby.

Hotel Playa Coco: An enjoyable resort

This hotel was good value for the price. The entertainment was fantastic. The service was good and the beach is beautiful. The pool area is comfortable for kids as well. There was a good variety of food including freshly grilled seafood, omelettes, meat, etc daily. The ice cream parkour was enjoyable for the children and always availble. Overall, this hotel included all the essentials for a nice simple family holiday.

Hotel Mojito: Great vacation

The only drawback to this hotel is that rooms do not have balconies. Otherwise, great clean resort, well maintained. As for food, the usual, although desserts were great. However, as with all the Cuban resorts we have encountered (over 20) - poor food. Choices for diabetics (no whole grain bread, sweetened yoghurt, etc) . The extensive boardwalks were great for walking when it was high tide and the beach was flooded. At low tide the beach is amazing. Especially nice resort for children.

Hotel Playa Coco: Nice Resort

It was a nice resort though the rooms and especially the public washrooms need some work/updating. The dining was nice with always something good to eat but if you wanted grilled food you had to wait quite a bit of time in line. Also, we found there was just a bit much noise with the entertainers always blaring on the mics.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great stay! Great Staff!

Just spent a week at Memories Flamenco Resort in Cayo Coco, Cuba with my sisters , mom and mother in law. We enjoyed our week at this resort. We were greeted at the airport and given our wrist bands, hotel rooms and loaded on our "diamond club" bus for a short 15 minute ride to the resort. We were given the rooms that we had asked for which was really nice. The beds were a bit hard but that was ok, asked for extra pillows and blankets and were given them right away. The resort grounds are beautiful and clean. The washrooms in all buildings were exceptionally clean from other resorts that I have visited in Cuba. The cleaning ladies were there all day and night cleaning up after everyone. The pools were nice but a little cold, was ok after you were in it. Lots of chairs around the pools, we only had 1 day that we could not find any but that was at 2 in the afternoon when the beach was windy and a little cooler. The beach does have coral around the diamond club area, but a short walk on either side you could find sandy entry to the beautiful waters. Bring water shoes. Again the water was a little chilly but warmer than the pool some days. Make it a point to walk to the left of the Diamond Club in the evening around the point to view the beautiful sunset. The weather was around 24, which was nice considering we were travelling with seniors. The food was better than other resorts in cuba. We visited 3 a la carts which weren't bad, seemed that the apps were better than the main coarse. The managers reception was nice until the lobster, it was cut pcs of lobster mixed in a cream sauce that wasn't that great and then put in the shell. We left there and went to the buffet. The buffet at dinner time was also good with fresh pasta, fish, seafood stations and the lineups were not too long. The beach grill had good food as did the pool grill - burgers were great. The people on the resort really make your trip! They are always checking up with you asking if everything is ok and if there is anything that you need they will get it. Felix at the pool was very friendly and the entertainment staff were great!. The waiters and bartenders at the lobby bar were superb! Get to know the staff, they will make your trip that much better. We did one excursion to the city of Moron (half day) which was great, I recommend doing this trip. The boat ride in itself was worth the $. Lunch was good as well with traditional pork and rice and beans, finished with a nice bowl of ice cream. The kids club looked wonderful, I did not visit there but was very spacious with a nice big waiting pool area for the little ones. All in all we had a great trip and I would definitely return to this resort! Love love love the people that work so hard to make your stay the best it can be! Muthu Colonial Hotel: Retreat

I usually visit Cuba in January on my birthday week and stay 2 weeks I come back in April and stay two weeks at the Ibostar mojito.This visit I spent my stay at the Colonial and found a lot of positive differences between the two resorts. The main difference was the closest to the beach,restaurants,washrooms and main lobby. At the Ibostar you had at least a 7 minute walk across the board walk to the beach with no washrooms in between,giving the Colonial a large edge.Both resorts have great peopl [... read more]e staff working for them so there is no issue there,both places are very competitive.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: One of the best in Cayo Coco

I have visited and stayed at many places in Cayo Coco. Pestana Cayo Coco is one of the best.resorts I have stayed. Keep in mind that January can be a bit cool because Cayo Coco is on the northern side of Cuba. The check in was probably the worse part of the experience. It took over 4 hours to get a room. After that, all was wonderful. The room was great with HOT water and was kept clean. The lobby was always being cleaned. Very few line ups for food or drinks. Like all resorts there are a few problems but for the most part it was EXCELLENT.. If going to Cuba for the first time. Check out NOTHING under a 4*, it is worth the extra money.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best Resort for the money!

We had the pleasure of staying at memories flamenco from January 18-25. Check-in was amazing, they gave our wristbands and hotel keys in the bus on the way to the resort, as well as a map of the resort. We got off the bus took our bags and walked them to our rooms. Everything was in walking distance. The weather was beautiful and we never had a problem getting chairs by the pool or by the ocean. The hamburgers with nachos & salsa up by the pool are incredible. We visited playa pillar beach, a must-see as well as Lenny's crab shack...there we had a lobster meal for $15 and it was incredible. It was a clean resort with great staff. We will definitely go again!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Place to Stay

We just returned Jan 27/15 from staying at the Memories Flamenco Beach Resort. We were very happy with this resort, definitely our moneys worth. The staff are all very friendly and always smiling. We enjoyed sitting outside the lobby in the mornings drinking our cappacino coffee. The buffet has a good assortment of food, the pasta bar was our favourite. The burgers made at the outside bbq pit , by the upper pool were AMAZING. The flowers and shrubs around the resort are plentiful and beautiful. The beach was beautiful . You can walk out far before it gets deep. Our building #3 was very clean and quiet. We will be going back to to this resort

Hotel Camino del Mar: Wonderful experience

We enjoyed this resort and would be happy to return one day. The beach is very beautiful, as expected. The resort was very comfortable although slightly dated. The grounds were well kept and mostly clean. There is a lack of garbage containers. The staff was very friendly and go out of their way to please. The food was satisfactory although not varied enough outside of the buffet.Overall we had a wonderful experience and thank all those who made it special.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great stay! Jan 18-25

The hotel was fabulous. The rooms were very clean and actually up to date. Staff were fabulous... Good was great (Ya that's right). Beach was beautiful and there was decent snorkelling off the beach and around the Boardwalk. The tide did take a while to go out but worth the wait... Pool was ok but we didn't use it. Nelson in the Buffett was a gem! Lobby bar staff were also fabulous. No complaints with Hotel staff. We did find it strange that rooms that were not superiour (we had an ocean v [... read more]iew superior room which was amazing) needed to pay 2 CUC a day for a safe. Go, enjoy... Only if you want a quiet and relaxing vacay!

Sol Cayo Coco: Awesome Resort

Very Clean and the Friendliest Place. The staff were the best we have seen. So enjoyable. Many new friends were made! Thankyou! The pool staff and restaurant staff could not have been better. We would Love to come back to this very same resort!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing experience

This resort had everything we wanted , good food , good drinks , very friendly staff . I will suggest this resort to anyone who wants to experience Cuba and have a stress free stay .Good location and very clean .

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Needs some upgrades!!

Great staff, but resort needs to upgrade and pay attention to detail. Lights weren't on , on pathways at night and food was mediocre; some head chefs to monitor what is put out would help. Accommodations were good, but beach area was very narrow and crowded at high tide.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: relaxing vacation

this resort is good for those who don't have problems with walking or doing a little hill climb. We found it clean and relaxing. It seemed to us that they didn't have enough staff at times. The restraunts are nice and all in one area which is good. Our room was ok we did have problems with the door handle falling off a couple of times and it did concern us as we were on a ground floor. We totally enjoyed ourselves.Food was ok. When arriving they should take you to your building as at night it's very difficult to find your way around. It's very dark. The staff work very hard and we just felt they need more. There is no where to go for a walk really except for around the resort. The beach on one side is wonderful on the other side of the walk way it is rocky. We feel if you are older and have need for a walker or wheelchair or just have problems with your legs or back this is not the place. Great family resort I believe the children seemed to be having fun but then again there is the challenge of the small hills from the rooms with a stroller. All in all we don't complain about every little thing which you may find wrong but we went to relax and relax is what we did.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Best Yet

Traveled the Carbi for years. This is our 3rd trip to Cuba & by for the best resort for the $. Staff where the most friendly. New resort, clean, normal food, # 1 beach on our strip. 20 min from airport.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Nice stay at the Pestana

At night, this is such a beautiful & romantic resort with lovely little cobblestone pathways meandering throughout & lit up with quaint, romantic lanterns; lovely just to stroll about. However, the lanterns were burned out for a good 2 days while we were there, leaving us walking the pathways in pitch darkness. Very clean resort. True that toilet paper is missing from public washrooms about half the time. Always have a roll with you. It is also true that despite this being such a new resort, the [... read more]re is already noticeable disrepair throughout. Great new tennis court! And nice (small) gym, with brand new equipment. Two staff worthy of mention: Annelys at Customer Service - so sweet & friendly! And Yusimi, who keeps those lobby floors spotless all day long - always smiling & friendly! ROOMS: Rooms always well cleaned every day. Chamber maids leave cool animals with the blankets & towels. Lots of hot water, but be very careful stepping in & out of the shower – many injuries with this. Watch for the wet floor, because the shower curtains don’t cover the entire length of the bathtub & the floor gets wet. We & many others ended up moving from Bldg 1, which is too close to the lobby & the loud, thumping music til the wee hours of the night - impossible to sleep, even with ear plugs. Music in the lobby is fine – buy why so loud? What makes them think that the guests even want this? So, just avoid Bldg 1 altogether. FOOD: The buffet was totally fine, except that the food was mostly barely lukewarm. If you want piping hot food, you have to go to one of the station (omelette, pasta, fish or meat). The fish station has delicious white fish that tastes like butter & almost melts in your mouth. For shrimp lovers, you’ll be on heaven at the fish station. However, seeing as the “stations” usually had at least a little lineup, I made do at the buffet, which had a very good variety of (lukewarm) food. Try the flambéed bananas. Delicious ice cream (especially the coconut). And yummy pastries at all 3 meals. God soup too. The wait staff is run off their feet. We made a nice connection with the head waiter (name escapes me), but most staff is just scrambling to stay on top of their work with not much time for chit chat. Salt & pepper shakers were regularly empty. And the salt was jammed up due to the humidity. Myself & others took to removing the plug at the bottom of the shaker & removing the salt this way. Also, it wasn’t unusual to end up with 3 – 5 shakers at our table, til we found a salt and pepper that wasn’t empty. The 24 hour snack bar has a “Pestana” sandwich, which is amazing & everyone loved it. Great fries too! The 3 à la carte restaurants were beautifully decorated & we loved them all. Highlight was the rigatoni with spinach, olives & shrimp at the Italian restaurant. So good! Everyone loves the waitress Saila at the Cuban restaurant. She’s a sweetie! All 3 restaurants had very good food. DRINKS: Great rum based drinks with good tasty Cuban rum. Drinks seem less watered down than in Mexico. Bartenders will quickly & expertly whip up any drink you want. Beer was excellent. Red wine is very good. White was awful though - couldn't even drink a sip. Bartenders & waiters while friendly enough, appear to be more focused on doing their jobs & being competent rather than being super friendly. They don't seem to be looking for opportunities to make warm connections with guests, but rather are more focused on just doing their jobs. A little different than in Mexico. Great cappuccinos & Irish coffees. POOL: Warm, clean, huge pool with swim up bar. Go hang out here if you want to socialize & meet people. Guests are super friendly! Lots of French (but often bilingual) guests from Québec, and from throughout Canada from BC to the Maritimes. Some Europeans too. At night, the pool is beautifully lit up with different coloured lights for a gorgeous effect. BEACH: Absolutely fantastic! You can do some light snorkeling right there. Water is so calm, you can easily swim “laps”. Plenty of comfy beach chairs for all. First resort I've been to that has enough chairs for everybody. Got some bug bites from the knees on down. While I never felt or saw any bugs, I suspect they were sand flea bites. Some guests were visibly terribly bitten Loud “house/techno” music at the beach all day long. Ughhh. I don’t know why they play this awful music, as no one seems to like it. I’d prefer just pure quiet at the beach, or at least some lower volume Cuban music. LOBBY: Everyone congregates in the lobby in the evening for drinks, to access the net, play cards, socialize & listen to the amazing entertainment. Entertainment is in the lobby before the shows & sometimes after as well. A variety of pianists, flutist, an amazing singer with the most beautiful Elvis voice doing Elvis songs (& others), quartet singers, kareoke & more. Chairs in the lobby are very dirty & very stained. STAFF: Apart from the front desk staff, most other staff have very limited English. Even the Doctor(s). Brush up on some Spanish! The staff work so hard. They are wiped out. I think a lot of them are students from the “tourist school” in town doing their unpaid internship. They work long, long hours & work 6 days/week. They also travel between 2 – 4 hrs every day to get to these resorts & back home. While I didn’t find them as friendly, relaxed & happy as the staff at Mexican resorts, I think it’s because they’re so overworked here. I feel very badly for them & wish their work conditions could be better. SHOWS: Shows are amazing with very talented & amazing dancers, of which many appear to be ballet/classically trained. Fantastic costumes too! I think I would go back to this resort, mostly for the unbeatable beach. Simply amazing! While there is certainly room for improvement, especially for such a new resort, it's really not that bad. My biggest issue is that they are too short staffed & the staff seem way too overworked.

The beach was horrible for swimming but I am sure the snorkeling was amazing! The resort itself was soooooo clean and just fantastic!!!! The workers were amazing and I would love to take them all home!! Great pizza, amazing pork everyday at the pool!!! Enjoyed our trip

The grounds were very well kept; the people were very nice; the beach was good; the food at the buffet was average, not enough variety; and the food at the al a carte was not good at all! Two members of our group were ill.
