Melia Jardines del Rey: Good food!

Resort is still under construction. You have to expect work during the day time. However, the food is very good, entertainment is ok for now and Victor, bartender at the beach bar, does the BEST mojitos! Disco is under construction as well. A must see after all the construction will be done!!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Good

I love this place food was good beach and pools great. However on my third day I got up in the middle of the night to find seven cockroaches yes seven I told three people the only answer was they don t have teeth. My tv went off after three trips to lobby and three phone calls one of which they hung up someone came up to fix it. I told them how bad it smelled in my room he said must be the pump and off he went. The maid stuck toilet paper in all drains which did not fix anything. The women the t [... read more]he breakfast buffet were rude I have never seen the likes if these two. I came and asked for a table to be made up she dropped a knife and fork on the table this is not acceptable behaviour. They want to bring up ratings this is not the way to do it.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Pleasantly surprised!

Wow is all I can say about this resort. This was my fourth time in Cuba and I have to say I was happy I chose this resort. It was clean, comfortable, the food was good and the service above average. I found all the service people to be warm and friendly, especially at the beach. Speaking of the beach, wow! Soft sand and turquoise blue water. I would return to this resort in a second!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very good week at Flamenco Beach Resort!

The Resort was great! The room was always clean. The "A la carte" restaurants were very nice and the food great! The people working at the resort were always polite and ready and accommodate us. The only thing I missed from the other places we visited was that there was not a market attached to the resort.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Overall good vacation for the value

This resort beach front is truly amazing! The beach is absolutely beautiful with soft white sand and turquiose water and the tide goes out daily so you can walk out in the ocean quite a distance and you can go for very long walks on the beach! The food and the room are good not excellenet but you always can find something to eat we had no issues with getting sick and the rooms were clean and we stayed in a renovated room therefore the water pressure was excellent. We truly enjoyed our vacation and the value was excellent for the price of our vacation. The hotel is really lovely... grounds are well kept, the staff are very accommodating and friendly and the rooms are extremely clean. I would also like to mention how helpful the SunWing rep was... Jorge Mario went out of his way to assist us - as well as the hotel rep named Yoenia - We would highly recommend this resort

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: decent value

Stayed week of January 22 . Winter season. Very windy every day and cooler temperatures now. Decent clean rooms but very hard mattresses. Food was standard for Cuba but not bad. Buffet food better than a la carte so don't waste time lining up for reservations. No apparent advantages to diamond club so save your money. Family oriented with lots of kids activities for 7 and under. Could definitely use boogie boards at the watersport centre and bring your own basketball or Tennis gear as they only  [... read more]have one ball I never saw and 2 racquets with one bald tennis ball. Apparently gifts from guests left behind. Sad but true. Beach is coming along nicely. We didn't need water shoes at all. Staff is very friendly especially in buffet at omelette station and smoothie bar. Front desk Giovanni was great and took care of any issues immediately. Water pressure in rooms extremely low unless you shower early before everyone else decides to. Lots of improvements to be made but mostly management issues. Nightly entertainment was amazing as in most Cuban resorts but definitely not much for active people during the day. Good resort for old people and young kids but very busy overall. As always the tourists are the only major issues. Smokers and the ignorant people who leave their towels at the pool all day. Lots of chairs at the beach and decent snorkeling. Dolphin and horseback tours cheap and a must do. No good markets nearby but you can take a $5 bus ride to see it if you want. No shirts or shot glasses even. Nothing like veradero. Overall a decent resort but too busy for me and one week of the same food was enough. Too bad they couldn't give their Staff a better resort to work on. They were all great people.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: great value

Beach was great with some coral for snorkeling. Room was clean. staff was friendly and helpful. Short trip from airport to resort.no problem getting beach chairs or towels. Three a la cartes to choose from. Preferred the Cuban a la carte lots of choice at buffet. Enjoyed yoga and aqua aerobics in the ocean with Joe also available in pool. Did not use gym or tennis courts but looked to be in great shape. Nightly entertainment some better than others. Dancing was great! Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best in Cuba

This is my 5th time to Cuba and I have stayed in a different resort every time . I must say that I was very impressed with how clean everything is floors, public bathrooms , guests rooms. The resort is very well run, you can see the management team all over the resort ensuring everything is running smoothly and pitching in to help where needed. They asked us to complete a survey and followed up the next day with any concerns we had. They called the room twice to make sure everything was going as [... read more] expected.The beach is a little rough on your feet but if you bring water shoes you should not have any problems. The food was okay and there was never any really long lines ups for the fresh food as I have found in other resorts. Overall I would suggest this is the best resort of the 5 I have stayed in.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Need a lot of TLC

Rooms are rundown, most of the resort didn't have hot water, no porters to take you to your room when you arrive a night, phones didn't work in the rooms, they ran out of towels and sheets, some of the towels either had rust stains or holes in them, internet is in Spanish and no tech to help you with problems, only one beer on tap and if you wanted their other brand you had to pay for it, food was the same day in and day out, most of the evening entertainment wasn't enough to keep you interested [... read more] in staying to watch. The good was the grounds were kept nice and the maid kept out room clean.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Well Worth It

We were looking for a quiet week of reading on the beach or poolside, and the Pestana was a great place to do just that. The staff was terrific -no exceptions - and the food was very good. The rooms were quite clean and comfortable, although they do not stock the mini-bar. Loved our getaway at the Pestana.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Enjoyable vacation!

We had an ocean view room and found that all the other accommodations were also conveniently located to everything. The buffet was delicious with many tasty options available. The restaurants were appreciated as well. Daily entertainment was presented by talented young dancers. Especially enjoyed the water ballet performance in the afternoon! Value at this resort is excellent. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a break from cold Canadian winter temperatures.

Hotel Playa Coco: great as always

This was our 9th stay at this resort. Needless to say our stay is made better because we know so many of the staff. Check-in was fast and easy. Every time we go, there have been improvements made to the property. Other resorts have a tendency to fall apart before changes are made. The entertainment staff outdid themselves this year. All of the shows were new and fantastic. Even when rain hampered our sun bathing, the entertainers kept us all happy in the central lobby. It should be noted that even though you have to have travel insurance to travel to Cuba you still have to pay the doctors bill in cash and have the insurance company reimburse you when you get home. This applies no matter where you stay.

Hotel Camino del Mar: amazing does not do justice!!

Amazing hotel with amazing people. Well worth the money. Will definitely be returning. Food was great had so much to choose from. Room was just like out of magazine. Definitely recommend! Staff is worth visit alone.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia does not have it quite right yet

Location is great, close to airport, beach is nice, love the long walks. Food is good, al a cartes are good, the rooms are just ok, beds and pillows are terrible. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold. The pathways were not well planned out and you have to share them with golf carts constantly speeding by. You have to walk through the unlit pool area at night to get to the 24 hr restaurant and bar. My building backed onto the pool yet not a direct pathway to get there. But the pool [... read more] is one of the nicest ones I have ever seen anywhere. The staff is amazing and very hard working especially the bar tenders and wait staff in the lobby bars. I am sure it will become better as the hotel is completed. Not quite a 5 star yet. The money exchange to Pesos is a rip off. The hotel keeps a 3 % commission and does not give you a receipt, so one wonders if this is going into the staffs pocket.

Hotel Vigia: Just ok

Overall the hotel is a bit tired, a specially rooms Friendly staff. Surprisingly good food. Fantastic beach, however requires a little bit of TLC. Water in the pool very cold, hardly anybody swimming.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Returning Guests

Our stay was enjoyable - the gardeners, waiters and waitress were great. It was frustrating at the bar with the bartenders since they expect you to tip them every time to get a drink... Like I can understand daily but they literally don't serve you if you don't have money in your hand. The rooms that were not renovated were pretty bad. The first room they gave us was not cleaned yet and the toilet hadn't been flushed- really gross. Resort staff was constantly trying to sell us uncertified cigars [... read more] which got very annoying. Pool was clean and the gardens were up kept nicely, however there were boards missing from the board walk leading the beach (serious leg breakers) and the beach was literally twice as small since the last time we visited. All in all it was a good trip but I do not think we would come back to this resort again.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great trip!

This resort came recommended to me by two people. I really enjoyed my stay there. The staff were friendly, our rooms were clean and bug free. The food was good as well. The beach was beautiful. The resort is small which is nice so you aren't walking forever to get from one place to another.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful and amazing resort

The resort was beautiful nice clean and beach was just beauty with that Aqua water .there was shows every night and the Cuban people where so nice.This was my first experience to go too Cuba.I would recommended too other people

Beach was very nice, food was good, preferred the buffet to the restaurants. Pool area clean and well maintained. Rooms good, beds a bit uncomfortable. Staff vey nice. I would not recommend renting scooters at the resort. reserved 4, got 3 and one broke down halfway through the day.
