Muthu Playa Varadero: Run down

Ground floor and second floor rooms are not suitable for rental (black mold, rot, humidity and sewer smell etc). After many requests, we were finally moved to a better room two days prior to our departure. This resort definately needs some tlc and it is certainly not a 4 star.

Sol Varadero Beach: Great resort

Sol Sernias Coral was a great resort. Clean staff very friendly and helpful The pool areas were awesome but it was more difficult to get a lounge near the pools Food was very good as in all resorts if they could keep it warmer st the buffet that would improve it Rooms very comfortable bathrooms were good lots of hot water

Muthu Playa Varadero: Resort review

The resort was clean and the grounds were well kept. The building itself was dated but the bathrooms were upgraded. The staff were friendly. The food was good by Cuban standards but the buffet food was not hot when it should have been unless you got it off the grill. There was usually a good assortment of choices. The bread was amazing. The beach was beautiful and clean. This is good value for the price but because the price is so good there were a lot of young people partying until late into th [... read more]e night and they were not considerate of others in the resort so it was difficult to sleep some nights because of the noise.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very good resort

This is the second time we go to laguna azul beach,grounds,restaurants,the food is to repetitive on the buffet restaurant the shows are pretty good the washrooms are always clean the people working at the resort are very freely

Hotel Los Cactus: Great for the price

The resort itself was nice, needs better plummimg(toilets don’t flush well) The beds where sleepable ,the food plenty but, always the same.The Staff could use a refresher coarse on customer service.Ihad to ask 3 different staff members to be nice.Big Shout out to Alex he was always there to help.We have been to Cuba roughly a dozen times our last time in Varadaro was 2005 and had the same complaint of the rudeness once we met Megdinna at the lobby bar we were set ! Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Meh...

Hotel was ok but did not meet expectations based on reviews/ranking, have stayed at better in Varadero for less $. Had to ask concierge staff (could never find our "butler") for multiple things that should have been included (drinking water, robes, towels, toilet paper, etc). Hot water is solar heated only, bad weather = COLD showers all week. Definitely not an adults only resort, just adult section of very large family resort and you will likely need to visit the family section on multiple o [... read more]ccasions. Great Beach, and pool area. Enjoyed the private lounge with nightly live music. Nice quiet section has a lot of potential, but just not quite there in my opinion.

Melia Varadero: Great resort!

I had a fantastic week at the Melia Varadero. The grounds and pool were clean and we'll maintained. The beach was spectacular. The staff was excellent, especially Humberto Reyes, who took care of guests in the VIP beach section. The a la carte restaurants are great. I loved that the red or was beside the Plaza of Americas which has a bank and bank machine. It's across from a golf course. I upgraded to The Level which was amazing. Loved it.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great getaway for first time to Cuba

The resort seemed more Cuban in style than others nearby, with the lobby and cigar bars especially adding to the feel. The buffet was very good, despite many people warning us of bland Cuban food! However, the other restaurants (besides the Cuban beach one) are nothing like the foods they try to be. Cubans do Cuban food well and don't quite have enough info as to other cultures cuisines, not that you cam blame them. The rooms are not much in terms of ambience but the bed was very comfortable and there are plenty of other places to hang out besides your room. We will definitely visit Cuba again!

Grand Memories Varadero: Very nice resort...friendly staff!

The service in the restaurants was excellent...The food was always fresh and delicious with many choices. We especially enjoyed the grilled fresh fish and vegetables and the roast turkey! We loved the Cafe located inside the lobby building! We went each evening after dinner and enjoyed a specialty coffee. We sat in the piano lounge and the piano player was awesome...Wonderful time!!!

Muthu Playa Varadero: You get what you pay for

You only get what you pay. If you want a 5 Star Hotel then pay for it. My wife and I stayed at Playa De Oro from 11 Jan. Until 18 Jan. This was our 8 trip to Playa de Oro. As before we had a good time. The weather was not the best, but we cannot blame the hotel for it. The hotel was recently sold and is now called Playa Varadero . We noticed no changes to the overall enjoyment of the hotel. The people are still as accommodating and friendly as before. We arrived via Sunwing and for a ch [... read more]ange there were no last minute changes to our flight schedule. We arrived in Varadero at 1000 HRS. And arrived at the hotel at 1230HRS. Having been there before the greeting by the staff was outstanding. Check in was smooth and efficient. Our assigned room was on the 5 floor with an outstanding view. The room was dated, but clean. Our maid left a welcoming note in the room on our arrival. The food is as good as in any other 3 or 4 star hotel in Varadero. The food at times is on the warm rather then the hot side in the buffed. There is plenty for everyone. After the first time you eat and leave a tip you will find your seat is reserved for you by the waiters. At noon we normally ate at the beach restaurant. The food there is barbequed fish, chicken and pork, as well as potatoes and other vegetables. The nice thing for repeat visitors again you are known and appreciated. Here is a tip for picky eaters. If you eat at the beach restaurant at noon and for supper at the buffet you will have two different types of food. Barbeque at noon and Buffet food at night. The beach is a dream beach with many beach chairs. The hurricane damage in the resort and on the beach is mostly repaired. They have people available to put the chairs out and clean them; naturally a small tip goes a long way. The only drawback the toilets are in the pool area. Entertainment is amble for anyone who wants to participate during the day. The entertainment staffs are a cheery and happy bunch. The main attraction for us is the live band that plays for lunch at the beach bar and in the evening for one hour for dancing. The main show starts at 1000HRS and is the best you will find anywhere in the Caribe. The entertainers rotate from hotel to hotel so you will see them at any hotel in Varadero. The grounds are kept clean and lush with any flowers, fruits and birds you want to see. The pool area again needs some work to be done. There are plenty of beach chairs and it is usually not necessary to get up early to reserve a chair. Repeat customers are treaded well with a bottle of rum, chocolates and beer in your room. To top it all off you will get a monster lobster dinner for two with live entertainment. As for stealing. The only people that steal are tourists. Any Cuban working in the hotel is lucky to work there, they get tips, and Canadians are usually very good in giving out tips if the service warrants it. Naturally you are in the tropics with animals moving around freely. No seen flies are sometimes a problem and it is wise to bring some repellent against them In conclusion if you have any problems that are not looked at in a timely fashion see the customer service manager, he will sort it out. Melia Peninsula Varadero: One of the better ones so far

We stayed from Jan 12th to Jan 19th 2018. Again, the people make the difference. This was our 7th visit to Cuba never staying at the same resort twice and will return again. As always the people are friendly and helpful and you can go anywhere at anytime and not feel intimidated or fearful. The Hotel received minimal damage from the recent hurricane with just two of the fountains not working and the theater was closed due to some main overhead permanent tarpaulin damage. The entertainment didn't [... read more] stop though, they just moved it to the main lobby of the hotel and as usual was great to watch. No reason to go hungry here, the food was really good with a lot of options. Grounds were kept clean and free from garbage left by late party goers. Weather wasn't the best but we used the sun free cooler days to go into Habana and Varadero. Closest stroll yet to the Hop on Hop off bus, it almost stops at front doors. Main swim up bar was great and the whole area kept clean and has amazing bar staff. Rooms were cleaned everyday with a fresh bottled water and restocked bar fridge by the time we returned from breakfast. Would certainly consider staying here again but we have a few more to check out first. If this resort doesn't meet your standards then your travelling to the wrong country and are a little high maintenance....remember where you are.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: AVOID IT

Such an unfortunate resort. The location is great and property has so much potential. 40% of the resort is vacant, a la cartes that were once I assume open are shut down and the kids pool emptied. There is ONE a la carte throughout the resort and they just switch up the type of food served. Its a small space. I didnt expect good food but I did expect enough food for the amount of poeple staying at the resort. Go on time for dinner if your looking to eat any of the better options. And expect it t [... read more]o be extremely repetitive. Including being served Brussel sprouts for breakfast so they can reuse the left overs! The fourth day into out stay the hot tub emptied... we stayed in the bungalows room 6102 and didnt have hot water our entire stay. We complained several times to only have someone " fix" the hot water issue on the fourth day of our stay, to have only but luke warm water. The staff was not very friendly,l. There was real juice the first couple days of our stay but they appeared to have ran out. The bathrooms pool side were disgusting with fecices in the toilet. If you want to ensure you have toilet paper in the resort bathrooms carry around your own from your room! There was hardly ever any toilet paper in any of the stalls. The staff was rude and it appeared it was like you were bothering them when you ordered a drink or food. Save yourself the agony and book at another resort. It was so not worth it.

Blau Varadero: A memorable vacation at the Blau Varadero!

This resort had alot of positives. I really liked the design of this hotel for its practical elements. You could access all rooms easily by elevator as well they were all in one building. Every room (front and back of hotel) had a view of the ocean. However, I would recommend asking for a premium oceanview room facing the beach because they are the more modern rooms. The [... read more] morning and evening buffets offered a good selection of breads, cooked meats, seafood, salads and desserts. They even had peanut butter! The staff was wonderful!!! They were all kind, concerned and helpful. The grounds were quite beautiful and kept very clean. The beach was also very clean and offered pristine waters and beautiful fine white sand for those long inspiring walks. Too bad for the weather though. We arrived just in time for a cold front moving in.This is quite predictable for this time of the year! The Entertainment was top notch. They had many musicians performing (jazz, classical, opera, cultural) throughout the day, at the lunch buffet, in the piano bar and before the evening shows. I would probably be a repeat Customer at the Blau Varadero! The only inconvenience about this resort is that there was not a bank on the premises. You could exchange your money at the front desk but you could not use your credit or debit card to withdraw any money. You could always take the doubledecker bus into the nearest town and find a bank there.

Roc Barlovento: Great safe fun.

We traveled in a group of 3 with 2 rooms. Jan 4th 18th. Great location beautiful beach. Check in was great, thank you Dalia Vega Martinez you are the best. We had a ground floor room, everything worked and we had hot water at all times. our maid Noelia did a great job and was fun to talk with daily. The lobby bar was clean and a fun place to go with friendly staff .The entertainment crew are alot of fun and make everyone feel special, thanks Mario and crew. This is not a new hotel but well kept and very clean. The manager is very nice and will talk to you about any concerns. Looking forward to going again.

Playa Vista Azul: Our honeymoon

This was our first time to this resort. We where giving several hotel choices by our travel agent and choose this resort because of the nightly entertainment reviews. We where not disappoint. The night shows where fantastic. We also upgrade our stay to the vip. For us this was a good dicision for us. The service was great and the food in the vip restaurant was also great. The room we had was excellent we had a great holiday and would return to this hotel.

Blau Privilege Cayo Libertad: Blau privilege Libertad

We would only give it a 2/5. The sheets were not changed for the ten days. We had to ask for regular supplies like shampoo and TP. The facility looked great from a distance. The food is only passable... we have all been sick... and five days later I still am. We would not return to Cuba.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Back for the second time!

My husband and I really enjoy this resort. A beautiful stroll on the beach each morning and then back to a lounge chair to read a book while the waves are crashing behind us. We never went hungry and the service and staff are consistently amazing. Rooms and decor could use a refresh.

Roc Barlovento: Not for me !

The grounds and the pool areas are very nice. The staff needs brooms desperately. They are the size of a mega toothbrush and the area is very large to sweep. Smoking is allowed in the main lobbey and everwhere except buffet and ala carte. And the Canadians took full advantage of this freedom. No respect given to staff or others at the Lobbey. I did complain. Staff told me they are sick from the smoke but they have no say. They have a tiny no smoking area beside the bar. Its a joke as the entir [... read more]e area stinks of smoke. Most resorts have banned smoking inside but not here. My room on the main floor had tiny mosquetos and got many bites. Try to find the doctor here was a search mission. I had to get a staff to take me. Dr. office is located at a storage area. Looks like a ghetto. Never went in.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Definately worth it for a 5 star resort, parents really enjoyed this trip, staff were very nice, rooms were very basic, beach was nice and clean, I can't wait to go again! The club was nice, too bad the weather was very cold this month of January, because we could barely get in the water :(
