Excellence El Carmen: Beautiful resort, wonderful beach

Loved this resort but I’m a little jaded, Excellence is my favourite chain. Have stayed at the Excellence PC a number of times so was pleased when I saw they opened a new resort just down the beach from the old one. If you’ve been to a newer Excllence or Secrets your will find this resort very familiar. This resort is mid sized I would say, adults only and never seems busy. Lots of room on the beach, no need for towel game here. We were in 7152 which was quiet and had a terrific view of the ocean. The staff here are first rate, there are a few on the Entertainment team that truly make you feel like family and while I seldom mention individuals I feel obligated to do so this time: Shakey- Shakey, Black Coffee, Diana, Kassandra, Coca Cola and John Brown. They are a hell of a lot of fun, if you want to participate but leave you alone if that’s what you want. Yoce and Carmen at the Excellence Club beach and Bar. Miranda at EC beach station. Food is good, no reservations required except for if you want to sit at Himachi within Spice, you can just walk in to Spice if you’re not into the show. French was my fave, Buffett with stir fry, pasta bar, onelette bar and all you would expect. Resort is spotless clean with staff constantly cleaning. They are in the pool every morning cleaning. Roberto, the guest manager is an incredible man. His question to me every time he sees me is; “can we do anything to make your vacation more enjoyable?” How can you beat this? First rate for me, I’ve been to Secrets/Sandals and a few others...as I say, a Excellence hits all points for me everytime.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Amazing family vacation

The resort was everything we could have asked for and more The room was amazing and so was the view. Quick transport from the airport and easy check in. Highly recommended for families. Food was great as were the a la cart restaurants. Beach spectacular. If you prefer a quieter section of the beach request rooms in the 1100 to 1400 section away from the lobby.

Occidental Caribe: Nice Resort

Clean grounds, lobby, restaurants and bars. Rooms were nice for a 4 star, everything worked well ! Maid service daily was great and most staff very friendly. No pushy time-share folks like Palladium and Hard Rock that we visited in 2017. As much as the dune buggy (Polaris Rzr's) look exciting, they are a bigger rip-off than previous times as you spend more time stopping at 'family vendors' than you actually do any driving. Ocean Blue and Sand: OK Resort

The rooms are very tired. Maintenance issues in the room are not addressed in a timely manner - i.e. no air conditioning for 3 days and no offer to move rooms. The front desk needs proper training upon check in as they did not tell you all the pertinent facts about your stay at the hotel - you had to go find out for yourself. The pools are wonderful except for those parents who think floating their baby by the swim up bar with a dirty diaper is a good thing. The food was good and selection was great. You really feel the class difference with the Prestige staff and patrons even though they are not really segregated from the full resort as most other resorts are set-up. Overall was a nice vacation but would not recommend to people if they are looking for a relaxing resort without screaming kids. Will go back to the Punta Cana Princess next time.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Very happy with my choice

We stayed for 10 days and wouldn’t do any less and did the sparkling adults only with swim up pool. In building 7103 I think was the best room and us personally once they worked out a few kinks it was a wonderful stay. The food was really good and a big variety. The beach was very nice As u walk down the beach in front of other resorts some areas were not as nice The staff were pleasant. Our only complaint was the hounding of condo and hotel sales people. They are always wanting to shake your  [... read more]hand and get into your personal space. And when you are polite and say no thank you I’m not interested they should back off . Then you walk a Little further and there is another. It was too much. Also the jewelry people the same grabbing ur arm pulling you over. I don’t go on vacation to be harassed. If people are interested they will stop. It’s a big turn off to be constantly bugged. Over all if I could have same room I would go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great time !

Beautiful resort, well maintained, great food. Big resort, very busy, make sure to book alacart restaurants early. Could use more restrooms around the pool and beach area. Entertainment was good. Rooms were nice and kept well.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort!

I thought the resort was beautiful and clean. Lots of different pools to chose from. Rooms were nice and big with comfortable beds. Great food with lots of restaurants. We also loved the fact that we could go to the Breathless resort at no extra cost. Overall great experience!

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Breathless resort

we went to Breathless resort on April/07/18 for our daughter’s wedding. Loved the resort, food, cleanliness and staff. Highly recommend this resort. Only thing I did’t like was their wine, but made due, took some down with us.

Excellence Punta Cana: JUST MIGHT BE MY FAVOURITE RESORT SO FAR!!

Just got back from this beautiful resort last week. I was a little hesitant in going as I have been to Excellence Riviera twice and loved it, except you couldn't get in the water there as there was tons of seaweed, although they kept the beach cleaned up, the water was too dirty for me. Therefore I liked ERC much better. I was concerned after the renovations, that maybe it wouldn't be lush or green enough for me, I like the tropical feel of a resort. I had nothing to worry about, everythi [... read more]ng was beautiful and pictures do not do this place justice. The food and service was every bit as good as in Mexico. I liked the set up of the martini bar and theatre so much! The only negative things I can think of are, I would have liked a screen door on my patio and I would like to see some live music, out by the pools in the afternoon. Neither of these things would keep me from booking here again.

The Level at Melia Caribe: FUN TIMES

The resort was amazing. The abundance of food and drink was way too much. Enjoyed the surroundings as well as the tours that we took. Golfing was spectacular for the price we paid. Only thing was the rooms need to be renovated.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Grand Bahia......an amazingly beautiful setting!

Grounds are immaculately well kept, staff and workers very friendly and accomodating. Villas are cozy and comfortable however showing their age...some freshening up would be a plus especially washrooms and verandas. We did not get housekeeping everyday so...no towels, no toilet paper. Bar fridge was not replenished everyday as it should be...very disappointing. Food plentiful but always the same. All that aside, pool area was very clean and we spent most of the day there. Went to the beautif [... read more]ul beach but it was so overcrowded it almost felt and looked like march break. I don't think we would go back to a resort with so many units and so many people! Our flight experience going in was great going back different story. Of course the weather played an important role in our situation and everyone was in the same "boat". Excellent pilot and captain as well as super nice stewardesses. None the less, being stuck in plane from 8h20 pm to 1h00pm ,and stuck standing in airport until 2h00 am and leaving without our luggage was not the perfect end g to our pretty great trip. Since we were not expecting to be this late going back, we had no hotel reservation whi h meant no rooms to be had anywhere. Ended up driving to Barrie in our ice covered vehicle where we did manage to bunker down at 3 am. I suppose All is well that ends well! I'll applaud when we get all of our luggage back! Quite a memorable experience, one that I do not wish to ever go through anytime soon.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great Resort - Horrible Guests

The resort is very beautiful, lush and enormous. I would not go back to this resort for two main reasons: 1) we were placed in an adjoining room with a door which happened to be paper thin. The people next door would arrive drunk in the morning around 3:00 a.m. and make lots of noise with their laughter and talking and banging things around until 5:30 in the morning. They kept us up for a few nights until we asked to be moved. After that, we had better sleep. 2) we would get up early and go t [... read more]o the beach around 7:30 a.m. About 99% of the palapas were taken, mostly the ones closest to the beach, despite numerous signs on them saying " do not reserve". You could tell that people strategically placed books, towels, shoes, etc. on the chairs but people were not to be seen for hours! Now they sell these clips so you can clip your towel onto the chairs so the wind will not blow away your towel if left unattended for hours. We were told that many people get up early, put their towels on the chairs and then go back to bed. The same thing happened at the pools. Sometimes the "towel police" would come by and remove towels from the vacant chairs and then fights would break out. We feel that more needs to be done to prohibit these selfish people from reserving chairs and palapas. The beach is too small for the number of people on the resort. The Amber Blue is only one of 7 resorts on the property, so you have thousands of people fighting for space on a little bit of beach. Furthermore, it is very difficult to book the a la carte restaurants. We were often told that the ones we wanted were booked and we were swayed to take very early or very late reservations. If we wanted to book a reaonable time, we were asked to visit the restaurant ahead of time and ask if it would be ok to dine at a particular time. However, every time we had dinner we noticed that the restaurant was only half full. Perhaps they were keeping them half empty to accommodate the”Priveleged Club”? If you like a lot of noise, rude, selfish guests, waiting in lines and slow service, then this hotel is for you!

Riu Republica: Overall very good resort

Very clean / a lot of variety to choose from at the buffets / would be nice to have an eating area/bar closer to the beach / staff is friendly / lots of activities if you want to participate / night entertainment is "ok"

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

This hotel is amazing nothing bad to write about it. The hotel is on a smaller scale which i like, not a fan of huge resorts and needing to walk a mile to the beach. Our butler David Castillo is one of a kind, he did everything possible to make our stay memorable and he succeeded. Julie our pool waitress was on her toes, always making sure we had drinks and always a happy and friendly. Food at the resort is amazing, rooms where clean, pools where cleaned daily. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Pretty OK.

The Hotel Grounds were good, and well maintained. The adults only pool in the preferred section was missing tiles. Rooms were dated, clock did not work, furniture showing age and wear. Not a resort for couples...this is a family resort.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Grounds and beach were immaculate. Gorgeous rooms and great food. Excellent dining choices. Resort was a bit bigger than I was used to so took a couple of days to get used to it. They had trains to get you around but they could have used a few more at dinner time

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: beautiful beach, inconsistent service

I found this hotel way to big for my taste. The Amber Green section was great in the sense that it was Adults Only and much more quiet than other sections. The beach and weather was great. The only negative thing I can comment on is the inconsistent service of the personnel. At meal time the staff at the buffets was very loud, joking and yelling among themselves which in my opinion does not belong in a 5star resort. Not enough supervision of this personnel. This is why I hadn't returned in 15 yrs to Dominican Rep and why despite the beautiful beaches I will not return. Service to me is very important, especially when a hotel claims to be a 5 star one!

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Great Resort

This is our second time at this resort it is always clean and the staff our freindly and willing to help the rooms are clean we had no ploblems with the staff cleaning our room i would recommande this resort to people

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing but too big and too busy.

Very clean a bit old needs some work. Great friendly staff good service but maid service didn’t come a few times. Grounds were well kept and pool was clean. Beach is beautiful but looked like spring break too many people.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful Resort!

This resort is huge so expect to do plenty of walking. There is a train for your convenience. The grounds are very nice and the workers are constantly working to keep the grounds looking lovely. The beach is amazing!! No problem getting lounge chairs but not much shade. There is an adults only pool, kiddies pool and two other large family pools. At times lounge chairs are hard to find. Lots of pool bars, regular bars and even a coffee bar. A la carte restaurants were very nice and meals de [... read more]licious. Even at the buffets there was always a variety of foods so you always found something to your liking. There was also a sports bar which was open 24 hrs. Staff was very friendly but very few spoke English. Entertainment at the theatre was typical for a resort but it didn't start until 10 o'clock. The casino was also a fun place! The only negative about resort is check in isn't until three or later and wifi is not free. Wifi in casino is limited.
