Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow

We arrived and had no one greet us or assist with our bags. No one was at the check in and we had to go looking for someone which took half a hour to get someone. Upon arrival at our room our bed covers were covered with pooh i kid you not we took photos . They did eventually come and change the covers and it seemed like we were putting them out of their way to do so. We been to Cuba 10 times so we know what to expect . Rainbow redefined the term inedible food. Morning breakfast consisted or the [... read more] omelette station with choice of egg chees and chives other breakfast option were beans and hot dogs and that’s it. I understand limited choices but that ridiculous. Lunch consisted of grilled cheese hot dogs no hamburger they ran out and fries . Sit down was a chicken leg that was bleeding on the plate you got the same option for dinnerThe next night we went to the Indian where they served up mullet which again was disgusting 🤢. That was all the food options they had. They had no fish as Kitty the customer service rep said all of Cuba is under a fishing ban and no resorts have any fish and resorts are also rationed for food and beverages which they claimed as to why they have to limit guests what they can eat. As far as beverages they had no soda water orange juice tequila sparkling wine and most mixes to make drinks .so you drink wine or beer.They could even make a mojito. many guest said they were starving you can only eat so much pasta and french fries Half way through the trip we transfer to Melia Cayo Coco. The resort manager refused to speak to us and handed the staff member a waiver for us to sign when leaving not to talk about the issues. . We refused .When we arrived at the Melia they had unlimited choices of food No fish ban at this resort or food restrictions like at the Rainbow. night and day difference between food beverages and service. Rainbow did. us in a bunch of people one day for a photo shoot with food and fun that never happened for the paying guests . I truly take the great reviews you see with a grain of salt .Rainbow is a 3 star at best and very over priced . Melia Cayo Coco is a 6 star in comparison .

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing resort

Very good and clean hotel. Stuff very friendly. Beachfront beautiful. Food and restaurants very poor. Very good view.I like to stay again with good food. Thanks for everything.!!!!!!!!!...........

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Cuba Lover - Fabulous Resort

Thank you to Rachel & Heather for booking our fabulous vacation. I just arrived home from the Royalton, Cayo Santa Mario a few days back.  I was there in March 2022 with my husband, and we had an amazing 10 days.  I was lucky to return last week.  We were the Mother Daughter Duo and once again had 7 fabulous days!!  I want to thank all the staff, kindest most hard-working people I have met! They all go above and beyond to provide you with any request as much as they are able, zero to compl [... read more]ain about!!  Our room was perfect, we lacked for nothing.  We enjoyed pool days with music and fun, we enjoyed the most beautiful beach playing in the waves and tanning and we did the all-day catamaran excursion, we love snorkeling, amazing lobster lunch and a swim of the boat at a beach.  It was all really just a great trip that this Momma got to enjoy her kiddo for a full week of fun in the sun together.  Until I see you all again my Cuban friends, Thank you!!

Hotel Tuxpan: Beautiful people, beautiful resort

This resort was absolutely lovely. The people were very welcoming and helpful. The beach and the views were amazing. The food did not agree with my tummy but please embrace it. We are lucky to stay here. Hoping to get another chance to come back!

Melia Cayo Coco: Highly Recommend!

My girlfriend and I have both been to Cuba multiple times before, but we would highly recommend Cayo Coco and this resort to anyone thinking of taking the trip. The beach was beautiful, white sand and tons of shade and chairs for everyone. It was fairly windy on the beach, but it was very hot during our one week stay so we welcomed the wind to keep us cool. The beach water was warm, but very refreshing as well. There was beach entertainment in the morning (bocce, volleyball, dancing lesson [... read more]s etc.) to keep us busy, then the entertainment moved to the pool in the afternoon which allowed for some time to relax. They had kayaks and paddle boats you can rent out as well. On one of our last days a resort worker offered to take us out snorkeling at a reef about 100 meters off the shore which was definitely a highlight of our trip. The service was great plus the staff were all incredibly friendly and could speak English. The bartenders, waiters/waitresses, entertainers, and front desk staff were always willing to help and are very friendly. The food was very good for a Cuban resort, especially in this post covid period. It is missing some of the brand names products we would normally get from the U.S. (ketchup etc.), but it did not make a big difference to us. We had heard from travelers to other resorts that there were shortages of foods and alcohol to many of the resorts in Cuba, but Melia Cayo Coco seemed to have no shortages at all. A variety of freshly cooked food at the buffet and fancier meals at the al a cartes kept us more than satisfied. Our room was decent, but definitely not a highlight of the trip. We got the base level room and while it was nothing special, there were no major issues other than an air conditioning leak on our first day (which was fixed within 15 minutes of us reporting it to the front desk and the issue never happened again). The resort itself was small which makes getting around everywhere a lot faster. There was evening entertainment which included dance shows and some excellent live music which was always a nice way to end the night. Overall I would highly recommend this resort, especially to those looking for something smaller and quieter designed for relaxation. However, if you are looking for a resort with a younger crowd and a lot of partying, this may not be the best resort for you.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Not for 5 stars but they have a potential

Food was great! Lots of variety ... Room service not that great. The beach was dirty and it was too windy, you can't swim only good for surfers. It wasn't great regards tips because they don't want cubans money. Not a great feeling to deal with exchanging the money around and begging people for 5$ Canadian. Straggle with toilet paper. For towels, beach towels everything in the room I had to ask for it it wasn't taken care of it right away. Waisting time on stupidity on my vacation. For people who like to drink a lot and eat on their vacation it's good but for people like me who wants calm and clean beach with nicely cleaned room no.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great resort!

It was an amazing stay. Left like I was back in 2019. Everything very relaxed. Great resort. Well kept. The staff at the hotel very friendly. The food as expected. It is Cuba. It beach and ocean views make up for the food

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Fun week in Varadero

Well, Kevin from Tripcentral got us a couple great rooms at Iberostar Laguna for August 1st to 8th . The hotel has reduced the over all customer capacity to help with reintigration after covid. Most of the guests were not wearing masks but there were hand sanitizer stations every where. Our rooms over looked the central pool area and had partial ocean views. Rooms were as described and kept spotless by house keeping. The grounds were well kept and the staff were attentive. Cuba still has suppl [... read more]y shortages but there was plenty of volume at the buffet and ala cartes. It is really hot there right now so we spent our time in the hotel air conditioned areas and then at the pools and beach. At this time of year there really aren’t any shortages of beach lounges with plenty of shade. The double decker hop on hop off bus still only costs $5 cdn each.we spent one day checking out the markets and shops in Varadero. The new Cuban peso was a bit of bother. The official exchange rate is poor, but these people have adapted and you can get better rates at the market stalls and from tour guides. We tipped in Canadian dollars (remember they can’t use our coins). Sunwing flights there and back were on new 737 max aircrafts. Seat backs have usb ports, there were no drop down tv sets so you should make sure you bring your own devices for entertainment. Once again, Tripcentral set us up with an excellent tour package. Melia Costa Rey: Good resort

Hotel was beautiful, many pools to choose from which was nice to change it up daily. They were definitely low on drinks. No juice for more than half of the trip, no margaritas or pina coladas until 2nd last day which was disappointing. Food was quite good. Especially the Italian a la carte. Staff was always very nice and helpful. Washrooms were always clean. But did not have toilet seats on them and sometimes no toilet paper. Overall, for the price it was worth it ( just over $1,000) but I don't think I would spend much more on the hotel if I were to return.

Club Kawama: Club Kawama

The resort staff are so nice! The beach was perfectly kept and beautiful. The rooms were a bit dated, but did the trick. The food could use some work in my opinion. The buffet food was not very flavourful, but the A La Carte restaurant meal was good.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Grand Muthu Imperial CUBA (DON'T GO THERE)

it's not a 5 stars, it's a 1 Star, and I'm generous. Food is aweful, no beach at all it's only rocks and you could find tires, junk, shoes, bottles, plastics, etc on the what so called beach. They expect a tip for everything, even water! We asked for a bandaid after an accident and they had none, they didn't have tea... I could go on for hours, thanks to Air Canada Rep (as trip central confirmed they couldn't help us) we changed resort, it was way better and it was a 4 stars with the best bea [... read more]ch ever. People who like this place never travelled.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Not great

Hotel outdated...needs lots of repairs. Paint coming off of walls. Seen cockroaches in dining hall around the food. Beach was beautiful but way to many rocks, stubbed toe many many times. Front counter staff very nice but restaurant staff catered to Cubans before Canadians. Pool dirty people eating and drinking in pool...stepped on chicken bones.

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Good resort

The grounds very good the plants and flowers was amusing and the ground itself was very clean. The food and drinks was good but the swimming pool water wasn’t clean since I arrived in that hotel until I left the water wasn’t changed.Over all was good.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort! Would visit again!

Nice resort! Good food and nice clean rooms. Great pool! Nice beach! Friendly staff overall, Selection at the 24hr snack bar was hit or miss but a good option when feeling snacky later at night! Specialty restaurants had great food especially the Japanese restaurant. Lobby was nice in the evenings to enjoy a drink and people watch. Would definitely stay here again!

Iberostar Coral Holguin: An excellent holiday resort for the price!

The Coral level was quiet and private but the main grounds provided busyness if you wanted. The staff were efficient, professional, friendly and eager to please.. The food at both levels was good. The room was outstanding! Very clean and spacious. I would recommend the Coral level and would return to this hotel.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxed and Awesome Vacation

This hotel exceeded my expectations, I have been to Cuba - Cayo Coco, Holguin, Santa Maria around 11 times, however have never experienced a hassle free vacation like this one at the Royalton. Services by maid, butler, waitress and front desk was efficient and friendly. Food is very good for Cuba, very tasty. Beach is amazing. we stayed at the beach all day. Brisas Guardalavaca: Relaxing and enjoyable resort.

Cuba has been through a lot since even before Covid so they are doing their best. If you talk to the people who work there and get to know them, and enjoy the beach and pools, you will have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort but wouldn't call it 5 star

Resort is large with clean grounds, pool and rooms. Beach was nice although small. Snorkling right from shore viewing nice coral and rock formation with various fish. Resort had very few guests so no issues finding shade at the beach or pool. 21hrs of wifi given which seemed to work almost everywhere. Farthest point on the beach, wifi didn't work. Spa was very nice and good value. Able to enjoy facility entire day including sauna, salt water pool, whirlpool and small beach belonging to the ro [... read more]yal service side. No resort map given at check in. Had to wait a while for bell boy to drive us to our rooms, mean while we could have easily walked to our rooms as it was close to the lobby. No list of drinks at any of the 4 bars. I'm not a big alcoholic drinker so wouldn't know what to order or try. Evening shows was small and disappointed. They didn't even use the large stage(may be covid related or due to very few guests). Food was limited and very repetitive (may be due to covid and world wide shortages). Repeat guests said this is not normal. Cable TV has many Spanish stations with few English speaking, if it's working as it went dead several times. Water leaked from bathroom ceiling in last 2 days from AC unit.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort.

Entertainment by the pool was excellent, as were the evening shows. Staff were very helpful and kind. I suggest you make reservations for one of the several specialized restaurants. The all you can eat was passable at best. The great service helped to make up for this. With all the activities available at the hotel and day trips (at extra cost) available it made our stay epic ! We definitely will stay here again.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Fabulous resort

This resort was very clean, grounds were well taken care of. Handy at the 24 hr bar made me a special drink that was great, Richar at the Buffet always made sure I was always happy, very attentive. Thank you for a great week!
