Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Excellent Vacation

The hotel is massive and lots to do without having to leave the resort. The A la Carte Restaurants are excellent and I recommend going with the Golden Club upgrade. The resort staff are all very friendly and go the extra mile for special occasions like Birthdays.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great Food!!

Hotel was impressive on entry. Lobby is very attractive but rooms are not very modern. Pools were great and beach was gorgeous!!! Loved the food in all the restaurants!!! The selection and taste of every menu item we tried was just sumptuous!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Becoming ordinary

When we arrived the air conditioner wasn't working and there was water on the floor. A good thing they put a towel down to absorb the water. We called for service and it was fixed within a few hours. We have been here 3 times previous this was the first bad experience we have had. They have made some changes now Coba and Tulum are their lower class resort and they are making Akumal and Sian Ka'an their Luxury Resort. So staying at Coba you can no longer go to Akumal or Sian Ka'an beach bar or be [... read more]ach area. The internet that was provided was 1 hour per day, but once you accessed it the hour started and expired 60 minutes later even if you stopped access. The food was great, no issues, the room was well cleaned, and staff is friendly. The beach was cared for daily, as well as the pool.

good value for the money. staff very helpful,try hard to make us happy. Also need more staff on the front desk. In room towels were scares, particular face cloths. We did enjoy our stay there. Don't mind if I return soon.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great Family Vacation but...

My family and I stayed at the Gran Bahia from August 26th to September 2nd. Firstly, this resort is even more BEAUTIFUL in person than in picture, seriously none of the pictures do it justice. When we arrived at the resort it was around 3:00pm we were told our room wasn't ready yet and asked to get some lunch and come back. We had to leave our luggage with a bell boy. Another thing - this resort is huge so LOTS OF WALKING! We picked at some food at the shack and went back to check in, only to be [... read more] asked to come back AGAIN. It took almost 2 hours and 30 minutes for us to be finally given a room. The manger offered us an upgrade to the "Golden Club" after all the frustration. However, that was almost another curse rather than a blessing. Our request for two double beds (3 of us in a room) was not able to be fulfilled and we were told that another bed would be made for us in the room. We had to call the front desk 4 times, before someone came around 10 pm to make up the second bed for us. The Golden club promises a safe, which apparentlyy had a broken key in it already, so when I tried to put my key in it broke (I returned the key right away and almost got charged $50 for it). We got 1 robe and 1 pair of slippers, again for 3 people, and never got the chocolate platters or special gifts as promised. Needless to say, the upgrade wasn't much and we still had to fuss over getting any of the benefits that it includes anyways. BUT -- I did rate this resort a 4 out of 5 stars for a reason. The STAFF ARE AMAZING! SO WELCOMING AND VERY HARD WORKING! Our favourites were Jerome and Lamaine who checked on us every day. The housekeepers are very sweet as well. We spent 5 of the 7 days at the pool and swim up bar, the beach while very beautiful is rocky, and the water burns (but it's saltwater what do you expect right). The food was AMAZING and we were happy to eat at the buffet every day but we did do Japanese, Steak house, and Italian a la carte. The Garden Grill steak house was by far my favourite. For lunch, the JERK CHICKEN is a MUST so make sure you go to the snack shack. I would say this resort is extremely family friendly and if you have little ones you will love it. If you're younger and looking for a party this resort will also keep you entertained and Margarita Ville is just a short cab ride away for the nightlife you want. While I really enjoyed my time at the Gran Bahia, we are uncertain if we will give it another try - although we will definitely be returning to Jamaica. We understand that the Gran Bahia is a large hotel but at times we felt like just a number. Our trip would have been more enjoyable without all the hassle especially at the beginning.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: A very clean big resort, lots to do

What a nice resort. First of all it's approx. 1.25hrs from the airport - which is good because you don't hear any planes all week. Second, the resort is unfortunately under construction on the Luxury side of the resort as soon as the bus drives inside the grounds by the front gate. It has been under construction obviously for some time now as they are building an entire end wing of the hotel which never stops 24/7. If you sit by the pool go to the family side. The food was amazing, the drinks could use more pop :) mixed in with the alcohol. The pool was excellent and clean. The overall grounds were kept clean and lush. The service by the pool, beach, hotel lobby, and dining area's were bang on!. The accommodation was fantastic on the Adult Luxury side. If it wasn't for the construction noise you couldn't ask for a better resort. If you don't have kids I strongly recommend this side of the resort for special treatment (Don Pablo Luxury).

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fantastic Resort!

This resort exceeded our expectations. The transfer was via a very comfortable coach bus and only about 25 minutes. Check in went extremely smoothly. Our rooms were immaculate and cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis often with diplays of hibiscus flowers on the beds and washroom. The grounds were maintained by a small army of people who always had a smile. The food at all the buffets and restaurant was well prepared and fresh daily. Overall this resort was 10 out of 10 and we would highly recommend it to family and friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Wonderful Resort

The Bahia Principe in Jamaica is a beautiful resort. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food at the main buffet is varied and will appeal to most people. Beginning with breakfast, lost of traditional pancakes, french toast, bacon, eggs and omelets. Lunch at the snack bar was OK ( Jerk chicken was the best part) but midway through our vacation, they closed it down and moved it to the Dolce Vita restaurant. Getting a good nights sleep may be a real chore with the constant door slamming and shouting in the corridor from drunken guests. This was my first trip to Jamaica's Runaway Bay. My second stay at a Bahia Principe resort. Overall, I had a good time at the resort and I would recommend this resort once the construction is complete.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great vacation and great resort!

The hotel is awesome! Great food and service! I totally enjoyed my stay and would like to return one day. The beach was a bit small and shore was full of sea weeds, but pools were fantastic, so no complains.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very good resort, will be returning.

Food was fantastic, there were lots of options at the buffet. They even had a healthy option at the buffet. Restaurants were very good, no complaints. The Don Pablo was my favourite. Service was amazing. All the workers really worked hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you have any problems i recommend talking to the guest service manager Priscila Nieto. When I got sick with allergies she went above and beyond making sure I was okay. She is always smiling and you can tell she  [... read more]loves her job. Entertainment was really good. The magics show there was amazing! Also, if you're a young couple I recommend this resort over the Sian K'ann. My boyfriend and I met two young couples who stayed at the adults only resort and they said that the resort mainly caters to an older crowd, and they were not able to make any noise. It is a very quiet resort, and they would get complaints if they were too loud. Overall, I definitely recommend the Bahia Principe Akumal, and will be returning soon.

It is a very nice resort . We stayed in building 66 It was next to everything pool, beach, restaurants The service is very good .The food is amazing .They have a lot of activities for kids and adults .It is one of the best resorts we have been in Mexico

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very nice but too Big!

We just got back on August 31, the resort is beautiful and HUGE! The food is amazing, all a la carts were a pleasure! The resort is lacking enough pool chairs and the whole week we did not get any, big disappointment. The beach you have to travel too from the Coba, so I would recommend staying at Tulum. Staff were very friendly but at times poor English speaking creating some difficulty. We had one day where rooms service was not answering for about 3 hours and the front desk was no help. We wen [... read more]t to the Mexican festival and unfortunately we had to pay 16 us dollars each even though it was on the resort. I wish I had brought bug spray as you would be eaten alive at dusk, they tried fogging the area to reduce this but with little affect! The drinks were good but our group noticed the bar areas smelt almost like vomit, no matter which one you went to, they need to bleach them down. Overall it was good, I had great company so any issues was easily forgotten. We had to see the doctor once and Victor was so funny that paying the bill didn't seem so bad. The A/C worked so awesome in the room it was nice to retreat to get away from the heat.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Its alright

The resort itself is beautiful but people that work there are rude never listen to what you say they just get you what they want at the end of the day as in food. Food was not good in general i got my stuff stolen on the pool worth (300$) while i was swimming abd i never got them back. we also found cocraches walking on the table at the sea food restaurant after we finisehd eating it was disgusting we tried talking to the manager but he didnt care. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: GBP Ambar - Excellent on so many levels

Visited this Adult Only resort from August 12 to the 19 with a friend from university, we are both single guys. This hotel is the Adult Only section of the bigger Grand Bahia Principe complex. The size maybe a turn off for some, that seek a more intimate experience, but for us, the size was a plus, as there are many lobbies, activities, pools to see and spend time at. Truth be told, we spend the week at the Adult pool and beach side, as there were no kids. The Ambar section did have lots of coup [... read more]les (understandable), so if a party/single scene is what you are after, you will be disappointed here. We just wanted to get away and find time to relax, although the club was rocking with singles after 11:00 at the central "town square". We did book 10 days in advanced our request for the a-la carte restaurants, and got every request. So for the 7 nights we were there we dined at restaurants, no buffet for us. Did the Don Pablo twice, excellent food and presentation, heard people complaining (from the other hotels) they could not get a single a la carte (most of the Ambar guests got their reservations) . Do yourself a favor and plan ahead and you would not be disappointed. On the topic of food, breakfast was amazing, my buddy ate smoke salmon and caviar for breakfast, just so he could say he had that. Food was always fresh and there was a day that they had a person making donuts right in front of you, how cool was that. Every morning they had a mimosa station set up (orange juice and champagne) and our server kept bringing us glasses of mimosa once he saw our glasses were empty. Top class service. I don't drink coffee and had to tell the servers "no coffee for me please" many times, I did appreciate the fact that they thought I drank coffee. Lunch during our stay was at the Ambar 1 pool "snack bar". Which snack bar makes fresh palella and pasta in front of you, and had fresh assortment of meats and dishes. My favorite was fries with chilli and cheese dripped all over it and some BBQ chicken on the side. Dinner was at the various a la cartes. All were awesome, my favorite was the Rodizio, the meats were just perfect and it just kept coming, most meals disappear over time, this restaurant was the opposite. There was absolutely no issues with food, and both of us were fine, so stomach issues. Just be smart and try not to get crazy with the assortment of food. The beach was as expected, lots of seaweed, but the workers kept it as clean as possible and once you get past the first 10 feet, the ocean was clear. There was lots of "Reserved for Adult Ambar Patrons" signs all over our section of the beach, so getting a spot was not a problem. They even had a young man clean the sand off your lounger and feet after being on the beach. I had to tip him (10.00 USD), since no one was. Spent lots of time at the Ambar 1 pool, where shaded places were not a problem to obtain. They were very consistent with brining drinks to you, the girls came around every 10 minutes or so. Many times they came around with fruit skewers (pineapple - cantelope - watermelon) and specialty cocktails for you to try. The Ambar 2 pool had a sushi bar, which I was told was very good (did not try it myself). It is true the Ambar 2 pool was quieter (until the pool bar patrons got their fill, and the noise level went up), but it was great interacting with many different people. In closing, my friend only visit to the Caribbean before this trip was to Cuba and after the first hour being at the Grand Bahia Principe, he was blown away with the overall presentation of the grounds, lobbies, pool, etc. Myself, I was in the Dominican last August, staying at the Grand Palladium Palace (which was awesome in its own way), but the GBP Ambar blows it away. I used the room safe and many times I had my iphone charging in the room during the day, with no safety issues what so ever. I did tip the maid 5.00 USD everyday and my room was perfect. The turn down service was amazing, with the blinds drawn in, PJ's laid out on my bed and chocolates left (3.00 USD tip was left for the turndown maid) . THIS PLACE IS AMAZING and set the bar at what a 5 star hotel is. I did not name any staff in particular in this review, but as a collective they were all awesome. Hopefully we will be there next August for round 2.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Simply excellent vacation at the Bahia Principe!

Myself and my family (wife and two kids, 12 and 17) stayed at the Bahia Principe Esmeralda at Punta Cana, DR. We were incredibly impressed about all aspects of our stay there. We have only been to the Caribbean once before (a small resort in Negril, Jamaica) so we were comparing to that. The transfer to and from the airport was very good, relaxed and on time. Wasn't very clear when we got there that we didn't need to queue to pay the 'tourist tax' so we queued for  [... read more]a while until someone from Air Transat pulled us out the line and directed us through customs. The resort was just fantastic, huge and impressive. We had a couple of adjoining rooms in block 90 near the beach, exactly what we requested, and really nice rooms, however probably any one of the blocks in the Esmeralda would have been fine. The only very slight issue was the bed was a bit hard, but really this is very minor, not really a problem at all. The choice and quality of food was amazing from the 'snack bar' by the beach to the Don Pablo gourmet restaurant. I was very impressed observing the staff just how professional and courteous they all were, at all levels from the desk staff to the serving staff, room maids and pool cleaners. Serving staff very attentive and at just the right level. Could not quite believe just how much food and imported alcohol was available, very nice indeed not to have to think if you can afford a better meal or fancy drink. I had a chat with the restaurant manager Eugenia (I think her name), very hard working and personable lady. She runs a very tight ship indeed and it really shows. The cleanliness was very impressive, everywhere was spotless, especially all the washrooms, they were always kept super clean. Hand sanitizer always offered walking into the restaurants. I noticed someone wiping down the stair railings with isopropyl alcohol. Really this impressed me a lot just how thoughtful they were about hygiene. I fail to see how they could have done a better job. The beach had quite bit of seaweed but that's no fault of the resort, and anyway they raked it away every day so wasn't really an issue. I left my sandals on the beach when sailing and forgot about them. Went back later and they were gone. Checked at the sailing counter the next morning and they had seen they were left and took them in. Wouldn't have been a big issue to lose them but nevertheless I appreciated them doing this. Although resort entertainment isn't really our thing we really enjoyed it especially the daytime pool exercise sessions, really good fun. Nighttime entertainment a bit cheesy but still good fun and entertaining. The Animation Team (entertainment staff) are really good and put a lot of effort in. Didn't do any excursions, we were going to but it was hot and humid and just wanted to enjoy being at the resort more. The Hobie catamarans were super good fun and probably my highlight; flying over clear waters to the reef and shipwreck was just great, and it was free. So, we would go back there in a heartbeat! I guess from the number of superlatives I have used you can tell we really enjoyed it! The Esmeralda was definitely for us the better part of the resort to stay in and would recommend this. The Punta Cana and Bavaro part of the resort were busier. August a good time to go, I'm sure nice in the winter but possibly a few more people staying there at that time.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: needs some work

We didn't have hot water for 3 days. There were dead flies on the hotel room walls. The food in the main buffet was the same daily. The a la cartes were excellent. The pools we're clean. The beach is beautiful, the sandbanks are a great idea. Excellent for swimming and snorkeling. The entertainment staff are great!! However, the overall staff and management are not very friendly.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Excellent value!!

Huge resort with confortable rooms. This is the first resort where the room Air conditioning Was too cold. I had to turn it down. The food Was excellent at The buffet.the only négative Point is the Beach . The Riviera maya beaches Are invaded by seaweed in all the ressorts .the mexicain goverment is trying to find a solution to this problem. The only beach without Amy seaweed Was in cozumel on the Ones Facing Riviera maya.

We booked with Trip Central to Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro Punta Cana It was excellent. Great food variety, room close to all amenities. Get sport activity variety. Beach is sensational. Dining room service excellent I would return. Trip Central was an excellent travel agent

Cayo Levantado Resort: perfect trip!

Our trip to this resort was perfect in all respects. Wonderful resort located on a little piece of heaven. Highly recommend. The food is excellent. Service warm and friendly. Beaches are gorgeous and pools warm and clean. We will return to this location again. The fact that it is an island only adds to the beauty of this resort.

Overall its a nice property, the food was above average, the room was spacious but dated, I woke up to a water leak one morning, though they fixed it immediately, the beach is a little rocky, service was fair.
