Good ambiance, very friendly and so warm surrounding. People are very nice and they treat you with respect. I would definitely do it again. I will tell my friends to visit this resort. the beach and the food are great

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing resort

Good condition, check in was fast and easy, rooms are clean and comfortable, food is great, lots of variety, the a la cartes were delicious, very nice beach and lots of beach chairs, the shows are very good and fun to watch, and the staff is very friendly and helpful, I will come back to this hotel.

Club Kawama: great resort with friendly people

We had a great time. The resort is very old and could use updating. The food was good but the mixed drinks weren't very good as they kept running out of ice. Coffee bar was very good. The people working at this resort are very friendly and tried to do everything to keep you happy. We will definitely go back to this resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5*

This hotel was very dissapointing. The food was ok.The drinks were not good. The staff were not very friendly. The entertainement was non existent during the day. Beach was beautiful. Not a 5* resort.

Villa Tortuga: Lots of room to wander

Villa Tortuga staff is friendly and very hard working, close to town, lots to see and do, beach is amazing, pool clean, public bathrooms usually clean but sometimes out of paper. Lots of seating at beach and pool, grounds well kept and piggy tourists were cleaned up after constantly. room towels tiny, newer rooms were decent, older rooms smelled of mold, sheets too small for bed, beds were mattress bowls. Our blankets and bed covers were not cleaned between guests, but sheets were. This may h [... read more]ave been an oversight as we asked for a room change. A lot of feral cats and dogs. Dogs howl and bark much every night which wakes you up. Septic smells were frequent assailants during walks. Also the entertainment was loud. Announce the event and then have it. Using the loudspeakers during activities took away from relaxation of other guests. "you don't go to Cuba for the food" a toast at meal time the first visit there in 2007 which we continue each time we are there. It is plentiful, bland, and the same. Although asparagus and shrimp were served occasionally, hot vegetables once in a while but plenty of salad, and pasta. Food choices for a Celiac are minimal as many meat and salad offerings were served in a sauce. Villa Tortuga does not have a toaster so bread toasting on the grill deny you even that option, beans and rice were a staple but I do not eat crustaceans (bottom dwellers) so when the rice option was mixed with bits of them that limited meals further. Forget about desserts but you will not starve. They do not serve fries at the snack bar :( Food is brought over from the kitchen.

Palma Real: Would not recommend at all

Everything from rooms, food, pools, grounds, entertainment, drinks, power source,noise level and so many more issues that I could write a short novel on the reasons not to go to this resort. My husband and I travel a few times a year and have never been so disgusted with this resort and would never recommend it at all. Even talking to other guests at resort they felt the same about it, DO NOT GO and if you do don't expect any 3 stars, you would be very disappointed.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: A resort in need of work

On a positive note the staff were very nice and helpful. Reception was friendly and welcoming. The long wait for our room wasn't a total turn off and we did have full access to the facility while we waited. Out room was a bit under whelming as it was in need of a good update. The beds were not that comfortable and both my wife and I would wake with stiff backs from a mediocre mattress. Our first room had plenty of hot water but the shower drain was plugged and required cleaning which was done pr [... read more]omptly. In the morning of day five there was a cockroach in the shower. We put it down to location and though they offered us a room change or a spray of the room we opted for neither as we felt it was a one off. That night there was another cockroach and other bugs so the next day we asked about a spray. The fellow who did this work only came twice a week and was unavailable so we changed rooms. The hotel generously gave us a voucher to eat at one of their restaurants, a nice jesture.The next room had no bug issues, but there was no bathroom door. As it was just the two of us it wasn't a big issue. Same feeling about the mattress. On checkout the hotel advised me that I owed 22.40 for purchases and phone calls. I disputed the phone calls as neither my wife nor I made any calls from our room. They seemed reluctant to accept this but eventually accepted that I only owed for my purchases which amounted to 19.00 which I happily payed. I was required to sign a release saying they had given me a free late checkout and they were otherwise absolved of any other claims. Not a big deal. The food was ok but nothing special, pretty much what you expect in Cuba so no real complaint from us. If we didn't like something on our plate we didn't eat it. The restaurants(3) were hit and miss on whether they would be open and the food was better than the buffets. The service was very good and they did their best to accommodate my vegetarian daughter. The entertainment was really great and fun with lots of variety. The hot tub was not operational and though they featured it in their web site it didn't appear to have been in use for quite some time. The workout facility was quite poor. Only a few machines which actually worked. There didn't appear to be enough beach side water craft and though I had fished at a Cayo Coco resort three years ago this resort seemed to think it odd that I asked if they had any fishing rods. It would have been nice but wasn't significant and I tried to acquire fishing rods from the staff. None of the buses(2) that we used for excursions and transport to and from the airport had operational toilets. The claim was they didn't work and the doors were locked. Very inconvenient for everyone on the buses. All in all it was a decent enough get away from the Canadian winter but I don't think it was good value.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Enjoyed Varadero....

I enjoyed the hotel but mostly the friendliness of the Cuban people. The beach in Varadero is beautiful. The amenities within the resort were adequate. Unfortunately, our experience with Sunwing was not as pleasant. Hopefully, my concerns with Sunwing will be addressed.

Grand Memories Varadero: Resort was ok

Room was clean Showers were always cold Public bathrooms had no locks Buffet was very crowded Beach was very crowded Not enough beach/pool chairs Had no towels on last day as we had to leave them in the room for noon checkout Night entertainment was enjoyable Food was alright

Playa Caleta: Buffet of flies

There were tons of flies in the buffet. They were on the food and tables. Table cloths were always dirty and the bathroom were moldy. Only one of three elavators were working. Needs major renovations.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: A Nice Getaway for a Good Price

Melia Peninsula Varadero Overall, this was a very nice resort with very friendly and helpful staff. I would visit this resort again. It was cold the first week of January, so people couldn't enjoy the beach and other outdoor activities. It would have been nice if the hotel had more rainy day activities for guests. They loved him. The in-house dancers and singers were good. I really liked the singers. The acrobats were excellent. Could be Better: - the ladies bathroom in the lobby was always smelly. It looked clean. Was it the plumbing? At the very least a good air freshener would help... or a really good cleaning, perhaps. - for us, it would be better if the buffet restaurant staff cooked the pork ingredients away from the non-pork ingredients. - the pool restaurant didn't have a lot of the menu items e.g. calamari, cheese sticks... just fries which were burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside - the Jacuzzi didn't look clean, I would have used it otherwise

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Relaxing vacation

The resort was beautiful and clean! Enough food selection for a fairly picky eater. The staff were friendly, especially the pool staff - they come around and take drink orders, so no need to get up! Plenty of beach loungers on a lovely beach. There were kayaks, pedal boats and HobieCats for use (included). Lots of beautiful shells to hunt for and bring home. Not a heck of a lot going on at this resort - so if you're looking for a place with a party vibe, this is probably not your resort. That being said, we danced one night until 1 am in the square (there is no "disco" room). Most nights after dinner we would head to the Piano Bar. A good place to chill and have drinks - ask for The Special :) I wish the piano player would have started earlier in the night. I understand she doesn't start until 10:30 pm, consequently we never actually saw her. There was also some kind of Canada appreciation day at the outdoor restaurant by the beach entrance. They had an awesome rock band that afternoon. Would have liked to see more of them! One minor note, I would have liked to see more engagement from the activities staff. The yoga lady didn't make us feel too welcome and there was never a kind of "buzz" about what would be happening and where (during the day and night). It was really up to you to figure that stuff out.

Hotel Los Cactus: Awesome Resort

I really enjoyed this adult only (13 +) resort. I would stay there again however I would stay in the block units (bungalows) not the main junior suites. The main reason for this was not due to the hotel but some of the guests with no lack of respect for others late at night noise in the hallway. However the rooms were excellent. The disco should be separate from the main hotel in my opinion due to noise. The outdoor noise from the next resort a little too loud but that again is not the control  [... read more]of Los Cactus. The staff was absolutely amazing. I would go there again in a heartbeat. Lot's to do lot's to see great shows, I miss it already.

Hotel Acuazul: Good Time

I have good time at the Hotel. I got room with hot water and food is what you pay for it. Better food will cost more. If you care about food,than this Hotel is not for you. Air Cubana is another story I will try avoid this air lines if I can

Beautiful hotel, service amazing, loved the food, hotel grounds excelente, personnel nothing but the best. You receive mor than what you pay for. Hotel guess become a family because is what the hotel makes you feel. Thank you for recommending me this hotel. Muchas gracias

the resort was beautiful, the staff was wonderful ,they always had a smile on their face ,rooms were clean and the food was not bad been to cuba 6 times and it was one of the best ,coffee bar could have been opened in the morning ,I would recommend this hotel

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: I have no idea about it

It was my first trip in my life, due to lack of travel experience, I booked Gran Caribe Sun Beach without reading the reviews and looking at the photos people posted at tripadvisor.ca. Few days after booking the trip, I started viewing the reviews and photos people posted about this hotel. I was shocked and very sad about my decision to choose this hotel (the ranking for the hotel is 59 out of 64!!!!! and food poison!!!).In order to have the best travel experience for my family and myself, I hav [... read more]e to pay additional $869.72CAD and book a better hotel. The fees I paid for Gran Caribe Sun Beach is nonrefundable that makes me very sad. So, please read the reviews and view the photos carefully before you book a hotel.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Disappointing!

As we boarded the plane an hour late and with only one Sunwing ticket taker we arrived in Cuba at Varadero airport only to be an hour late leaving to go to the resort. Also an unscheduled stop to let a passenger use the washroom caused another delay. The moment we arrived we were asked for our passports and were told to go into a room. Some of us stayed behind to watch our passports. The others were only told where we could get a meal at 11:30 at night. Why we asked? When an inquiry was made the lobby said the problem had been fixed. Nope! Even to the last day when we used the Spa before leaving and there was still cold water! One of the advertised restaurants (Italian) was no longer open and the others did not appeal to us so it was Buffet the entire time. Same options all the time. The grounds were well kept, the rooms, although outdated, were clean and the beach was wonderful. Considering this was rated at almost a 4 star we were disappointed and will not go back.

Absolutely no drinks in the refrigerator in the rooms. There is a coffee maker but no coffee provided. Limited to only one bottle of water a day. If you need more you have to buy it at the store inside the resort. Safety deposit box 2 cuc per day. This is not a 4 star resort at advertised Tips are expected !!!
