Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: New resort

Beautiful grounds, well maintained , good service, however lack of food and drinks. No wine, no sparkling wine, only rum and vodka and beer. I know that a common problem in Cuba . There’s a karaoke in snack bar which is great if you like to sing.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Disappointing

This hotel is definitely not a 5 star but a two star at best. Needs many repairs and definitely a paint job. Rooms are old and tired looking. Both drawers on the night strand would fall out, only one track. Also dresser had two drawers that wouldn’t close. Maid service was always missing an article ex. Towels, water in fridge, toilet paper 4 out of 7 days. Path to rooms was in darkness, we had to use cell phone flashlight as many other guest were doing. They do not replace the bulbs. On  [... read more]arrival no one to help with luggage. My husband had to try to carry them up a large flight of stairs. Many rest rooms are locked on the property and no elevators were running. Only two restaurants were operational and the buffet. Gets pretty boring and many items unavailable on the a la carte menu. Only rosee wine offered. One day and night no water so you could not flush toilet. Also no air conditioning following morning. Perspiration pouring off of us. Food was very Mediocre No bread for hamburgers one day. Only positive the beach was absolutely beautiful and staff pretty friendly. Not up to Iberostar standards at all.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Incredible Resort!!!

Amazing place to relax! I enjoyed my days with my family. Especially with my 93 years old mom. The facilities are great, the staff were very kind and helpful. I appreciate very much their good essence in delivering their services to all of us. The Animation Team is spectacular...great work!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: It was okay

I’ve been to Cuba one to many times. The thing that was disappointing was always getting booted off of their wifi. The hotel itself says free wifi around the resort, but it kicks you out very often. The atmosphere was great and the staff were too. The other thing that was misleading was there was no 24 hour bar or food service. That was kind of disappointing. The food.. well the food was okay, I stuck to pasta and burgers all week.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Resort!!

The resort was great. The staff was friendly. Amazing beach! The food was average, bartenders did a great job. The wifi is an issue. Overall we had a wonderful time. Will definitely recommend this resort.

Melia Buenavista: Very good place to stay and relax

My wife and I stayed in Melia Buenavista resort May 17 to May 24 2022. Overall, we have enjoyed our staying a lot and would rate the resort with 4 stars. Here are the things we liked: Small size and quiet environment. This is an adult only resort and it’s quite small and boutique-style – there’s about 102 units, so even when it’s at full capacity, there’s only sightly over 200 guests at the resort. This ensures a quiet and relaxed environment, no large noisy crowds, no [... read more] line-ups for food, no competition for beach chairs – there’s always plenty of them available on the beach. Boutique style residences. Some of the accommodations at he resort are duplex-style villas, that’s where we stayed. The room is spacious, with two terrace at each end, outdoor and indoor showers, bathtub, separate closet area, large sitting area, fridge, coffee makers – very nice amenities. 3 Beaches. The resort has three beaches, which is an awesome feature. It allows already small number of people to spread out and have a good rest. The three beaches are different: one is fairly shallow, you mainly walk you knees or waist into the water, it’s good for sitting in the water, having drinks and watching sunsets. The resort has gazebos in the water at that beach, which shelter you from direct sun and nearby bar keeps drinks coming. The second beach is a snorkeling place – it gets deep pretty close to the shore, so you can snorkel right off the shore without travelling anywhere, which is very convenient. There’s plenty of fish/corals to see in the water to keep you occupied for hours, we really enjoyed this one. The third one is the main beach, real gem – the iconic white sand/blue ocean beach Cuba is famous for! It’s quite long, clean, has a bar and lots of beach lounging chairs, umbrellas and gazeboes. At the far end area, to keep it discreet, people go topless or nude. Entertainment. There’s entertainment during the day – dance or aqua aerobics class for the active folks in the main pool, that’s a lot of fun! Also, there’s some entertainment in the evenings, no big shows, but a band usually plays and sings, it’s really nice to sit around and enjoy it. Personnel. Very helpful people at the reception and with fluent English. Best ever bar folks. All resort people were very nice and friendly. They always greet you and help you get around/answer your questions. Specifically, guests are assigned a couple of butlers who see to your needs and do some chores for you. That is an awesome service – if you want to order food/drinks to your room or have an excursion booked or anything else – you don’t need to go to the reception, you talk to your butler – and things get done quickly and efficiently. Our butlers were Armando and Joan, both awesome, super-friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and always there to help you! Thank you, Armando and Joan, for making our stay at this resort so enjoyable and we hope to see you again! Things that need improvement We think that most things which need improvement are the result of the pandemic and 2 year shut down of Cuban resorts. It takes time to get the resort back to its best, it’s understandable. This resort has opened up a few months ago (around December of 2021), so we’ve seen an ongoing effort from the resort people to identify and fix all the issues. Facilities. Need maintenance/some repairs. Although the living quarters are bright and spacious and have all necessities in them, a number of things needs maintenance and fine-tuning after 2 years of all Cuban resorts been shut down due to pandemic. Specifically, water pressure was low at times. For a couple of days the resort had to shut the water down completely for a few hours – for maintenance and repairs. The resort is working continuously to identify and fix these issues and personnel was very accommodating and courteous during repair times, provided guests with information and access to alternate sources of water. Also, some small updates may be needed to wall paint, chairs or other small things, but overall everything’s in a good shape or getting there, just a bit rusty/dusty after a long shut-down. Beaches Need maintenance. They are the best we’ve seen in and outside Cuba! But, again, due to long shut down some things are waiting to be fixed. Specifically, in-water gazebos at the shallow beach used to have hammocks in them (the resort still has a picture of them on their website 😊), but no hammocks when we were there, so would be good to get them back! Also, one of the gazeboes was broken and laying as a sad pile of wood on the beach. The resort may also consider adding water sports/equipment to their services. Food and drinks. Needs better variety. Again, due to pandemic, food supply is under pressure in Cuba in general and this resort. Main thing: there’s plenty of food available for each and every guest, so no need to worry! The variety is limited, but decent to provide for all food groups: basic veggies (lettuce, cucumbers, bell peppers, zucchinis. There is fruit: bananas, mangoes, some others. There’s rice and pasta. Some variety of dishes at the a la carte restaurants, but not a big variety. Meet supply, specifically pork, is under pressure, so pork is not often on the menu, but there’s beef, chicken and their very best – white fish! Drinks – need to increase variety. Some are missing due to supply issues, specifically, there’s no tonic, so you get your gin-and-sprite cocktail instead. Some hard alcohol is missing, like cognacs. But there’s plenty of Spanish bubbly and white/red wine, as well as beer to keep everyone happy. So, overall – a very decent resort, worth the money, we plan to go there again. Pleasant personnel, tranquil rest, best beaches. If you are sympathetic to their ongoing efforts to overcome hard times and make things better, then you can put up with some occasional small inconveniences and have a really good time there!

Sol Palmeras: Good resort, pathetic food!

Amazing beaches and the property is well maintained. They have switched off the A/C in the lobby on purpose as that's where most people hang out for wifi and the 24-hoir bar. It becomes super hot & unbearable after a point. Also, give the economic situation of the country, the food is extremely repetitive and especially for vegetarians or vegans, it is Extremely difficult. They would accomodate the guests and state that there are only 2 vegetarians of the 1000 guests in the resort, which I don't [... read more] feel is a good enough excuse to not support your guests. Otherwise staff has been amazing.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: The best resort I've ever been to. Mejor de todos

I can say that this hotel and experience exceeded my expectations. I can not thank the staff enough for their courteous and attentive service. Alex, Julio and the chefs were fantastic and I would go back in a heartbeat. The activities were fun and the food was delicious. Please don't ever change and hopefully neither will the beautiful beaches. The staff in charge of making the rooms were fantastic and so diligent. 5 stars.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Beautiful resort! But...

We were very happy with the hotel itself, very clean, modern and new, however very disappointed with the money we paid and lack of services that were not available because it was a "slow time" of year... we didn't get any kind of compensation considering what we paid

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing resort !!!

Everything was great and amazing ! Was expecting seafood ! And it's hard to believe at a place like Cuba not to get seafood ! But overall the food was not to bad! There was,a variety of food too choose ! Also no green salads !

Melia Costa Rey: Great Hotel and Staff

Great place. Multiple pools for kids and adults. A lovely beach with good shade and sun options. Multiple bars - beach, pool, reception - all giving excellent service. Good Covid protocols - staff wearing masks - everything spotless. An excellent Resort for Families and Couples. Food above par. Great service. I definitely would go there again.

What can I say about the Hotel that it is 5 star that says it all. Every thing is kept well, Room are automatic when the door opens: A/C, lights are on also you can control manually as well. Always: water, (hot and cold) A/C, power (they have generator in case of an outage) room supplies, Mobile TV control, One bottle of Cuban Rom complimentary (mini fridge with bottled water supply) and many other. Cuban Banks takes Canadian Dollars and not US. When tipping if possible use a vary good condition paper money because metal money are not accepted in Cuban banks. All Hotel workers are very nice.

The people at the hotel are lovely and helpful. The A la carte restaurants were great. I would recommend for all meals as the buffet was lacking variety. Mixed drinks were not great. Beer was good. The coffee bars had good coffee selection of hot drinks. The hotel is becoming dated and worn. There are a number of things that need fixing such as sidewalks, electrical, benches. The beach is stunning! The area is close to downtown which is why I chose this hotel. The main strip has been built [... read more] up with a variety of new restaurants and night clubs. The Beatles bar was disappointing as they did not serve beer or wine only cocktails that I did not enjoy.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Amazing stay, great value resort

Great value for the price. Very friendly and professional staff. The entertainment team is phenomenal. Clean and well-maintained rooms. Food is just ok (needs more variety). Beautiful beach (not crowded). There's always lounge chairs available and there is a rule of not reserving them with towels which is great. Same with the pool area. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great beach

Great grounds, beach, coral reef not what it used to be, much less fish.Service very slow in Royal side, takes 1 to 2 hours each meal,plus meals almost never what you ordered (with or without tips), plus some restaurants serve fish that is so dry, that with each bite you have to drink a lot of water. Buffet is great, less selection than before, only dinner is not every night like before. Food tastes far better than in Royal service. Marazul Hotel: Worst hotel

Our flight delayed on 29th July 2022 because of sunwing problem, neither Sunwing nor hotel accommodate us. On top of that it's worst customer service on front desk, even food and hotel conditions very poor quality and services. I don't recommend this kind of services from both sunwing and HOTEL it's height of unhuman and nonsense.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice Resort

Sanctuary at Grand Memories is one of the many resorts in Cuba that is struggling to get back to the 4-5 star it was once - before COVID hit. We have always loved this resort and will probably come back.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Mosquito Infested Resort

Disappointed in every way. I cannot imagine how this is a 5 star resort. Mosquitoes everywhere, flies all around the buffet table and the plates are always greasy like they haven’t been washed. These things they can find ways to fix but chose not to. A La Carte restaurants never had much options from the menu and when they did have something. On our last day some maid tried to steal from our room and was begging for us not to report it. Our experience wasn’t pleasant in anyway that I would never travel to Cuba again.
