Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Good Resort a

This is just a a newly opened hotel last December 2021 so i give some consideration Overall it was a good stay for us except a bit of issues. Staff are friendly and so is the management They tried their best to entertain guests. Rooms are big and the beach is not busy

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Good overall but, lots of differences post Covid

This was our third time at the Iberostar Ensenachos. Overall, we enjoyed our week, as the beach here is absolutely world class. There’s truly no other beach like this. That being said, we noticed significant changes in the hotel’s operations that were not favorable. As an example, they put a family of four in a room with one king bed and did not show up with extra beds until the evening! This was despite several requests being made to the front desk. We also did not get pool towels until day [... read more] four. They were available however, they had trouble organizing the delivery to our room and refused to hand them to us. The rooms are tired and they don’t change your towels even when placed on the floor or tub. There is a lack of toilet paper. You have to ask the maid for it. The food got progressively better during the week as shipments arrived. There were some things that were challenging for children however, such as no french fries, chicken nuggets or hamburgers. These items were not regularly available and often eaten quickly and not replenished. So, having a large group of children… It was a bit of a challenge. We also noticed the dessert and fruit areas were minimal. The bar is excellent, as is service there. There are no beverages in your room and an irregular water delivery service. The entertainment staff and shows were phenomenal! There is a noticeable lack of management on site. And, when we asked to speak to management we were told we could not speak to them. The hotel is struggling and the Cuban people are as well. Staff are trying however, it is clear that they are unhappy. It’s a difficult situation they’re in and I can appreciate that. Overall, we had a good trip and enjoyed ourselves but, I’d be a bit hesitant to return. It’s not a five star by any means.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Highly Recommend!!!

I can honestly say that I highly recommend the Royalton. I was a little bit iffy about Cuba, as most are. But this place was amazing. From the front staff to the entertainment staff, everyone was so very nice and accommodated. Room are nice and clean with a great view. Can't wait to go back ! Thank you so much Yainen and Marion. You both are so very welcoming!

Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: Grand Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo Hotel

hola! The hotel was just amazing...the grounds were awesome very clean and very well kept up...the staff friendly...the pool area awesome...the beach was amazing the ocean was amazing...went on a catamaryn boat ride snorkeling saw some dolphins...the food at the hotel was very good...a la carte amazing chinese, tapas, carbinean... I recommend that hotel to anyone who wants peace and quiet or to just relax with a good book and cocktail or espresso...the rooms was floored just beautiful...I wou [... read more]ld go again another time...had a beautiful time met alot of great people from Canada... Playa Pesquero: well managed resort

This resort is sprawling and difficult to move around but transportation was always there to take us around. What concerns me is that too little English is being spoken which make communicating with employees very difficult. The food is plentiful but tasteless. Lots of restaurants and bar but limited variety of cocktails.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Can be better for 5 stars

We did an Ocean view and our room only got the tip of the ocean from our balcony view. Maybe request a room where your view is not being blocked by the buildings. Disco is currently closed for reno. The japense A la Carte is amazing. The Romentica (seafood) was alright but only had fish and civiche for seafood options. Lunch, dinner & breakfast is the same items everyday. Bar near snack bar is 24hrs but no frozen drinks there. Snack bar serves pizza, fries, hotdogs & tuna sandwhiches. Our maids  [... read more]were amazing. They have courtesy rooms for you to shower if your a late flight as check out is 12pm. However you need to request them. Late checkout to keep your rplm is $10 per hour cash or $11 hour credit card. There is a $30US deposit on your credit card per beach towel. Once you return it there will be no charge its just a hold. Internet user id they give you expires every 24hrs. So you need to go to the room across from the gift shop to have it renewed. Lunch does not start until 1pm. Dinner starts at 6:30pm. We had some indviduals whom worked there that treated us very kind. However locals are allowed on the resort now, & once you speak Spanish you will be taken care of first. Be prepared on the beach to be harrased by many locals to buy items or trade items. There is a quiet pool area. & 1 swim up bar. Ice cream hut was closed. No big wars to get beach chairs tons available. Not many shaded though. The wait to book your a la carte is about 1hr long. Look for Alex one of the entertainers to change $ with. He gives a faie rate versus the resort or toue guides. He also has links on taxis $25 CAD or US for a fancy car. $20 for a basic. Also shower heads in many rooms are not attached to wall heads up.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Many advertised amenities not available

The grounds were amazing! Trees, flowers, cactus oh my! Friendly grounds-staff and great maid service daily. Katherin and Alejandro and the main bar were super accommodating and helpful. The Ocean was breathtakingly beautiful and clean but no bar service. The pool was good, clean and spacious, umbrellas would have been nice for those that can't handle the sun (not me) there was no shade. The swim up pool seats are not worth sitting on, don't do it. There should have been towels at the pool b [... read more]ut we had to cart them from our room and back again. Unfortunately many amenities were not open. Some were not open the hours we were told. A printout in English with information about times and restaurants would have been helpful as my Spanish is sparse. Lighting was a poor at night everyone was using phone flashlights to find our way. When our flight was delayed we had to pay for 2 hours to have a room to freshen up. No wine. Restaurants are a joke, it's the same food as the buffet just presented nicer. Buffet did not care much about vegetarian clients. I was hungry the entire time I was there. Maybe a snack bar should be considered on the grounds. Despite being advised against bringing any American dollars because they would not be accepted, this was incorrect, I wish I had brought some with me. The internet was really really poor so arrange a specific time to catch up with family at home. Be prepared, bring snacks, bug spray and any necessities as the store on site stocks rum and cigars. This was good value for the money, but don't expect 5 star service and amenities.

Hotel Bella Costa: Interior sucks and Exterior is good

Resort was amazing however rooms, elevators, food and washroom vanity and water facility in rooms where either broken or not working. Resort did not even have enough towels due to which we were asked to use same towel for 4 days. View and pool amenities in resort are awesome. Beach access is good and beach is clean

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Covid Measures

Masks were almost never seen being worn by staff or guests. Sanitizer dispensers at several locations... not sure if they were empty or contained any sanitizer liquid. No apparent social distancing. No other covid precaution measures visible.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Live Roach in breakfast bar

Not sure if more needs to be said, we saw a live roach in the breakfast station. I was scared to eat after that. Maybe I should add that there was hair in both of our soup and most of the food had no taste. Beach 5* Drinks 1* Room cleanliness 4* Hotel cleanliness 4* Food 3*

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Resort is dated but has an amazing beach

Selected this resort as we knew a staff member who had moved here from a different resort. The day started with us having no rooms when we arrived. If they know our plane lands at 10:30 am and we will be at the resort by 12 pm why not have our rooms ready for us! The previous guests must have vacated the room by 8 am like we did on out last day. A staff member whom we knew had to intervene and we got our room at around 3 pm. The building we stayed in didn't have lights in the common areas like s [... read more]taircase and hallways for 2 nights. Had to complain to customer service as most of the building guests especially kids and females were scared to stay out during the night. The magnetic keys needed to be changed 2 to 3 times a day. They simply would stop working for no rhyme or reason. . All the guests were getting tired of this. Been to Cuba multiple times and am used to food there but this resort would rank at the bottom. Same repetitive food every day. Being frequent visitors to Cayo Coco and Cuba we went prepared with Indian spices and sauces so please bring some masalas with you. Drinks too diluted and no Crystal or Buccaneer beer. Staff was hit or miss. Some were amazingly great but others like the ones at the 24 hr food stand were pathetic. Staff at the Pool bar, beach bar and lobby bar were amongst the best. Saw guests standing an hour at the pizza stand near the beach. Went there twice but both times didn't get Churros. Please also be beware of paid services: Confirm it multiple times as words have no meaning once you pay for the services. When it comes to the room, it was dated with uncomfortable beds. Mold and broken pipes. Flooding of toilets in our building was common. Luckily didn't happen to us. Please also take plenty of bug sprays. As this resort was built on marsh land you will be bitten alive. The resort doesn't have it sprayed as much as they should. Best part about the resort- Beach is one of the best. Even if you don't get to go to Pillar, this beach will be enough. Secondly 50% of the staff are amazing. If I ever go again it will be for the beach and some staff who really pour their heart into their work. Last best part was the local Cuban guests. They were very cooperative and social. If you understand and respect their culture they will shower you with love.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Ok but wouldn't return

I wouldn't go back. Pool and beaches were clean and beautiful but they are not cheerful unless you tip very well and they cut costs wherever possible. Christmas music in July in their buffet area and no air conditioning or fans so you better eat quickly and get out! Very disorganized and disappointing. All day snack area is gross and always out of everything so it's really not 24 hours.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great value

Royalton is the best hotel I’m Cayo Santa Maria, we have stayed at several and this is top shelf. The food was a little inconsistent and not a lot a variance in menu selection but by far this is outweighed by all of the positives that make up a very special resort. The staff were the very best I’ve experienced . We were indeed treated like royalty and always with a smile.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: The Resort

The resort was amazing . This is not a 5 star resort but a 3 star at best , but still very good The internet was poor only accessible in lobby I loved the layout of the place . There was lots of rooms / cottages / some with 2 levels it was simply gorgeous Cayo Coco is an Island so it was fairly secluded, which enhance the beauty of the place The entertainment was mainly at the hotel. Each night there was a plethora of shows . This I use as my own private pool as it was never busy The main pool had lots to activities for everyone for both children and adults alike This is a family oriented resort as a lot of family with children visited. I had a great time , I relaxed went to the pool when to the beach there was a boardwalk with a deck for sitting The rooms were fully air conditioned with very hot water. The only downside is the food . Bring your own seasoning and you will be ok. For non pork eaters this was a major issue as everything practically had pork in it. So ask what's in it before you eat. Go for the beach, the sunshine and the people and to lose weight cause the food is the worse Other than that it is a very nice resort clean friendly staff. The cons far out weight the bad stuff Enjoy

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: No meat at all in buffet

i’ve been to Cuba 22 times I know what the foods like I go anyway you can find something to eat you won’t starve in Cuba but this time there was no meat in the Buffet we ate at the snack bar every day wieners and mystery meat burgers disgusting so disappointed this time around I guess you can blame it on Covid or the down season but won’t be staying there again. Melia Cayo Coco: Always a great place anytime of the year

Once again the Melia Cayo Coco met all of our needs from a great beach and very nice clean room, good food, and wonderful entertainment. The grounds are impeccably kept by some of the best groundskeepers. All of the staff from attendants to management are very approachable with any questions or comments which are taken seriously and acted upon quickly. The resort is geared to a more quiet and laid back crowd, come and enjoy the tranquility of this smaller resort.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Amazing resort

Angsana is a 4 year old hotel, with well kept beautiful grounds. The hotel is very nice, there is a big building and a few cabanas. The rooms are big.The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the service everywhere was very good. Even the food was not bad, we could always find something good to eat. The beach is amazing, wide, with white sand and almost new beach beds. The water is clear, calm, no waves, there are coral riffs not far from the shore, so we did a lot of snorkelling ri [... read more]ght there. We stayed for two weeks and did not even feel like going anywhere. Almost no entertainment though, I guess they are trying to save where they can. No masks are imposed, they seem to have COVID under control, at least for now. We enjoyed our vacation very much. Special thanks to the staff who did their best to make out stay very pleasant

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing people Amazing resort

Hola, I think I have stayed at at least 7 other resorts in the Cayo Coco area and by far this is my favourite, great food, beaches, ponds, cottages and the layout. it’s now under new management, Alba is the greatest…young, energetic, cares for the staff, customers, cats, dogs and even the resident Pelican. Speaking of, I saw a bad review from a Nikki Beach I think her name is…. Crazy, totally wrong information especially about her comments about the Pelican. I have worked with Y [... read more]adira and Paula Baptista from DEPAM animal rescue out of Moron for a few years now at other resorts, and will do so again at this one soon… trying to get dogs and cats spayed and neutered…plus I have had the pleasure of bringing back 6 puppies and a kitten who had been adopted by loving Canadians. About the Pelican; The Pelican looks like the ones from Florida, it likely got caught up by hurricane Irma when it was quite young, and dropped in Cuba, because the pelicans that are natural to this area look prehistoric. This Pelican, he or she has resided rent free at the Caribe all these years to my understanding…Alba the manager now has certain kinds of fish fed to him every night near the buffet by the chefs, I’ve seen it myself… he is picky and will spit out the kinds he doesn’t like… he gets feisty at night and will grab at the ladies legs if you get close enough…FYI; as long as you don’t pull away, you won’t get scratched by his hooked tooth at the front of his beak. He does not know how to or can’t fish for himself (or is really lazy lol) … it’s probably because he’s suffered from a broken wing for so long… either from the hurricane or a dog got to him. He’s doing much better now thanks to Alba the manager, allowing Paula’s group, the DEPAM volunteers and the Vet access to the resort to do his surgery. I am so proud to know all of these loving, caring, amazing, wonderful people. I would highly recommend visiting the Caribe, I’m planning on it again next month, enjoy… I know I will

Melia Cayo Coco: Excellent service, great vacation

MCC never disappoints. The most important asset are the staff. They go out of their way to ensure you have all you need. The grounds are meticulously kept. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beach is beautiful and clean. We did find the food repetitive and not the selection we have seen in the past when staying here. However, given the current situation I’m Cuba it is understandable. We made the best of it. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great location, resort was very nice, beach was amazing! Food not so much.

The location is great! The beach is absolutely stunning and has great snorkeling right off of the beach. IMO no need to even go to Pilar beach next door as it's the same beach quality. Diane at the swim up bar and Yenia at customer service were super nice and very helpful. I would recommend going here but my only complaint is the food. I'm not sure you can fault the resort itself as I know supplies are hard to get in Cuba and food is not ever a highpoint in any Cuba resort review. A la carte res [... read more]taurants were average. The buffet was lacking in variety. We had omelettes for breakfast daily which were the best choice in my opinion. However lunch and dinner were scarce for options except for the last few days we were there they were grilling chicken at the snack bar for lunch and that was good. Snack bar only had ham and cheese sandwiches / french fries as their only options the whole week we were there. Overall if you're willing to skimp on the food options and choices the resort and beach are extremely worth the visit.
