Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Fantastic resort for any desired vacation.

It is as quiet and intimate as you want it to be. There are also activities throughout the day and evening to become fully engaged if you choose. The food was the best I have had at an all inclusive destination. Staff were all very friendly, polite, helpful and caring. I cannot say enough about the experience from pick up at the airport, check-in, room cleanliness, food, drinks and general hospitality. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Great Resort

Everything from staff to accommodate, food, drinks and entertainment exceed our expectations. Pool was clean and organized. Beach was well maintained. Staff attentive and pleasant. Transportation well timed.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Absolute amazing time

I had an amazing time at the cofresi palm resort all the staff and entertainers went above and beyond. The shows were amazing and had some great parties. Met some really great people and I cannot wait to go back again. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Great Resort for Families

My family stay here Jan 5-12. Kids(14,11 &9) had a great time. Rooms were all freshly renovated and clean and it looks as thou they have done and are working on renovating more. The main pool and beach area was great. The waterpark pool is ok but could use little tlc. Kids didn't care thou they loved it. The entertainment team was great and had lots of things/competitions to do everyday along with great shows in the evening. We also ate at the Italian, Tex-mex, Japanese, American and Brazilian restaurants. All were good my favorite was the Brazilian my least favorite was the American diner. The coffee, donut icecream shop was awesome my kids loved going for ice-cream every day. We had to ask for are bar fridge to be stocked daily and once we asked it was done everyday. Service was good but most of the workers don't speak English so there is a huge language barrier. I've read other reviews about unfriendly staff. I can see where people would get that feeling but I truly think its just the language barrier... we had some wonderful servers who worked very hard to please us by the end of the week they would knew and had tables ready for us and were eager to serve. Overall we had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our stay. I will definitely recommend to other families. If you are looking for a great family resort with good food definitely check this resort out. Someone reccomended it to us and we weren't disappointed!

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Meh

Not much to do at nite but go to crowded lobby. Place for entertainment was hidden around a corner by front entrance. Pool and beach were impossible to get chairs, time share BS etc. However, food, staff, grounds were fantastic. Too many vendors at beach buggin you.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Not bad

Grounds are beautiful, staff are friendly, beds were comfortable but room was tired. Food was good and love the fact that we didn’t need to book a la cartes. Biggest issue with this resort is that they provide unlimited towels so people took advantage and were reserving spots at beach and pool. Was almost impossible to find a chair. It was that or hotel simply does not have enough. The other problem was the vendors at the beach....constantly bothering people which I get but gets to be rather a [... read more]nnoying. Also be aware of time share when you arrive. They offer $200 to use at resort but of course they want you to come listen to pitch. My warning to these resorts is that they are driving away people like us. We come to relax and not get harassed.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Amazing resort

It’s a second time we’ve been there. It’s a féerique place. Food is good and it has a variety of choices for every taste despite a small place. Room is spacious and clean. The service is good. We stayed in a villa close to the pool. You have to be able to walk around because the beach is a little bit far from the main lobby . Wonderful place to relax. The best food I’ve ever had at any all inclusive. Very small quaint resort. Highly recommend it. Beach water is rough so not good if your not confident in the water. Lots of beach miles available to walk.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Our Amazing Week at Chic

This resort is awesome! I travelled with my boyfriend and two other couples, so with a group of 6 people ranging from 24-30 years old, we always had something to do! Here are a few observations we had: We paid extra to get Diamond Club and in this resort it is definitely worth it as there were a lot of things that required Diamond Club in order to use it. For example, they had premium alcohol for Diamond members only (which was good because I would rather Grey Goose for Vodka rather than Skyy [... read more], which is what they serve). Diamond Club members also get their own lounge, their own sections of the beach and their own pool called the Mermaid Pool (which we found wasnt all that great since employees arent really up there so you dont really get attended to). Rooms: My boyfriend and I got a Presidential Suite and it was beautiful. One of the TVs was not working, I asked someone to come fix it and it wasnt until I asked at the Diamond Club reception that it was promptly fixed. I also found in the room that everything felt damp- we tried putting the air conditioning on and to a comfortable level with the fans on but we could not escape the damp feeling on our clothes and bed sheets. Some other little repairs in the room could be made or a little update to certain things but this did not bother us. Food: The food at Chic was INCREDIBLE! Everything we had was awesome! The Japanese and steakhouse was my fav! Our butler made sure we had our reservations every night! Thank you Ronaldo, you were amazing and made our trip! Pool/Beach: The Diamond Club beach was very very nice, we stayed here most days. Esperanza in the beach bar was awesome with us and so attentive! Thank you!! The pool was so fun and the vibe team always had something happening! Entertainment: I have never been to a hotel that had so much entertainment- the staff here work so hard to make sure you are having a good time. Huge shout out to CANDY MAN- he always went out of his way to come say hi and hang with us and make sure we were having a good time. All resorts need someone like CANDY MAN on their vibe team, he was amazing!! Each night had something happening- the "Adult Show" was amazing, with professional dancers! Amazing! Thank you Chic for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Mixed feelings...

My wife and I just returned from 2 weeks at the Senator Puerto Plata Resort and Spa in the Dominican Republic. We had read several great reviews about this resort before we booked – most of them rating the hotel at 5 out of 5 stars; however, this was not our experience. The resort is beautiful and there are a lot of positives about the resort but the negatives really ruined our experience. The Positives: The scenery is beautiful. You have the ocean on one side and mountains all around [... read more] the resort. Also, there is a port for cruise ships beside the resort and you get to see these gigantic cruise ships coming and going regularly. The resort itself has been upgraded and revamped to give it a minimalistic appeal. It is completely redone from the old RIU Bachata and looks brand new. The cleaning staff do a great job of keeping the resort common areas and bathrooms clean. We need to mention Estrella as a top-notch cleaner in the public washrooms and common area---Always a smile and a hug for the guests! You see all of them coming around to clean at all hours and they always have a smile and a hello (Hola) for the guests. The grounds are also beautiful and very well maintained—credit to the gardeners! The rooms themselves are very nice and well equipped (soaps, shampoos, hair dryer, iron, coffee-maker, razors and toothbrush in case you forget and bar-fridge with water and pop). The lady that cleaned our room (Barbara), did a great job and always replenished the water and pop, and created fantastic towel art every day for us. The front desk staff are excellent. They were always very helpful – especially Michel. When we checked-in she saw that my wife’s birthday was in January (on the same day as hers!), so she had somebody decorate our room on the day we arrived. She made my wife feel very special and welcome. Also, when we had asked all over the resort about getting our free bottle of rum that we are supposed to get every 5 days - she was the only one that got it done, as soon as we asked her about it. The Legends Sports Bar was awesome. All the servers were excellent and a lot of fun - especially Luis and Ariel. These guys really know their stuff and can make any drink – we highly recommend that you try a Chocolate Monkey. My wife is a former bartender, and she had nothing but good words to say about their creativity and service. The food here was fantastic - burgers, chicken balls, onion rings and Caesar salad and they made fresh popcorn in the evenings. The food throughout the resort was very good. The buffet and the Snack Bar by the pool both had good selections. The club sandwich at the Snack Bar was especially good. There is also a pizzeria on Tropical Avenue that makes good pizza (using the oils that they have on the pizza really adds to the flavour) and there is an ice cream shop that has really good ice cream and lots of flavours and toppings. We tried the Japanese a la carte and the Steak House. Both were excellent and the service was exceptional. You get a ton of food at the Japanese restaurant and they cook it in front of you. We were a little disappointed that there was not much of a show as part of the cooking. The Steak House was very good. The salad comes with this amazing little edible bowl that tastes like a cheese corn bread. I really enjoyed that there was beach volleyball being played at most times in the day and the entertainment team often joined in. However, the court does not have enough sand on it and there are several pieces of coral that the players were getting hurt on. I really hope the management addresses this issue for the safety of their guests. The entertainment team were good. We didn’t get to interact with them much when the resort was full, as they were more engaged with the younger guests; however, in our 2nd week we got to spend some time with Pollo, Pikachu, Coffee and Dora. My wife especially liked chatting with Dora and her dances with Pollo, especially to Suavamiente! The Negatives The staff selling time shares are extremely annoying. There are several of them and we were pestered by all of them at one time or another. They do not tell you what they are all about but just try to get you to attend a session (a Grand Opening) where the closers will push you to buy. The worst of all was when a very official looking gentleman came and sat at the end of our lounge chair at the pool and said he was the Manager in charge of the accommodations and wanted to know if everything was okay with our room. After getting all our information he then started into his pitch about attending the Grand Opening, etc. – he even said he would send a bottle of rum to our room and would split the money with us that he gets for having us attend the session. We were extremely annoyed to be pestered so much on our vacation by these salespeople but to have the nerve to come and interrupt us at the pool (twice), during the day was completely unacceptable. The New Year’s Eve dinner was a big disappointment. We were at the late sitting and we could only get a half of a lobster to share between the two of us. We were told that people at the early sitting were taking two or three lobster halves each. We complained the next day to the Restaurant Manager about not getting lobster and he said he would look into it and get back to us. We never heard a word back from him. Very poor customer service from a manager, and from the resort as a whole. And, the New Year’s Eve show was nothing special either. We have been to other resorts where the New Year’s Eve show was absolutely spectacular. Slow service – we noticed that during the last week of December when the resort was packed full that there were not enough servers and the service became extremely slow. The worst was an hour and a half wait for our lunch at the lunch restaurant and it probably would have been longer had my wife not complained to the waiter. We heard from some other guests that had been to the resort earlier in the year that the service had been great when the resort was only 60 – 70% full and they were shocked by how poor the service was with the resort being full. The beach is ok but nothing special, compared to other beaches we have visited. Lastly, there was an incident with a very drunk and half-dressed guest outside our room early one morning which my wife felt it necessary for the guest’s safety and well-being, to get a security guard involved in. While this guest’s behaviour was not the hotel’s fault, the concern is that somebody served her well past the point of inebriation and given her state of undress – my wife was asked to help carry her to her room in another building. We will contact management regarding such in a private email. My wife is someone who is highly skilled in interventions such as this...lucky for this client. Conclusion The resort is really beautiful and we did enjoy our stay but the people selling the time-shares and the slow service really annoyed us. A few tweaks by management and the resort could truly be a 5 out of 5 stars. I would consider going back to this resort but not at high season.

Excellence Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

We loved our time at Excellence Punta Cana. What an amazing resort. We were in the Excellence Club section and all I can say is wow. From the moment we arrived until our last drink on the beach the service was amazing. Would highly recommend this resort. Above all else I can say there service was great. The restaurants were very good and that you did not have to make a reservation was a nice bonus.

Riu Republica: Riu Republica

Grounds We were at the Riu Republica for 7 days starting from the 2nd, Jan 2020. Our first impression of the entrance was; “wow, modern “The grounds were well kept and constantly being maintained by gardeners. The grounds were very clean. I would give the rating of the grounds a 4 + from 1-5 with 1 being the lowest.it would have gotten a 5 star if they had a tennis court and less smoking in the area. There was smoking pretty much everywhere, including the beach.The only place there wasn’t smoking were in the restaurants, the Ala cart that we visited and the buffet area. Rooms They rooms were clean, modern and well maintained. For dining I would have to rate in different categories. 1st. lets start with the Negative’s. There were over 5 Ala Cart restaurants on the grounds and we only went to two, reason being was that the 1st one we went to was a buffet style and the food wasn’t the greatest. I would not have expected that they would have buffet style setting at an Italian restaurant. 2nd. we went to another restaurant and we were disappointed because the restaurant was closed when we went. Actually the had two of the same restaurant in different locations and both were closed. We were able to get in that restaurant the day before we left and the food wasn’t great at all. The presentation was great but quality food wasn’t what we expect. Our best food experience was at the Main buffet area. Breakfast was great, we had so much options to choose from. And everyday we had something good to eat. Lunch was great as well, there is always something to choose from. Dinner was great. I forgot to mention that they had a Jerk Chicken Hut on the grounds and the chicken was very good. I would give the buffet section of this resort a 5 star based on quality of food, options of food. There was Wifi throughout the whole resort. Which was great. At times you would get signal while on the beach. There were no tennis court. This resort is smaller than it looks on the site. But in my opinion I think it’s geared for younger adults that would want to drink, party and just hang around the pool side to socialize. And that are not interested in doing anything but that. The entertainment was really good. And music was great. The beaches were crowded and the water was extremely rough. I watch a gentleman try to get on his parasailing board for over half an hour and could not get on due to the rough waves on the beach.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: excellent!

This is our third time at this resort. The last 2 times we booked the swim-up and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is excellent. Do not forget to inquire which evenings they have they have their specialty dinners at Palmyra buffet. Tuesday was seafood night and WOW! We were lucky enough once again to have rainfall only overnight.

Ocean El Faro: Amazing Resort

Hotel was beautiful, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating to our large group of 19 Zero problems with getting reservations for our large group at any of the 6 restaurants. Food and service was great at all the restaurants and pool bars. No issues at all with this resort Would highly recommend Rooms were very spacious

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Well worth the money!

Overall, this resort was great. Highlights were the beach (beautiful sand, beautiful blue water, no seaweed, and very safe the kids - 8 and 12 - to play on the sand and in the water), the staff, the layout (we loved that it's a small resort and that everything is so easily accessible), the cleanliness, and the grounds (beautiful and so well maintained). The food was ok - the à la carte restaurants were a bit disappointing (service was a bit lacking, the wait times can be very long as there ar [... read more]e no reservations, and the food was just ok) BUT there were pockets of awesomeness!! The Asian restaurant was amazing, make sure to ask for the chicken wings at the restaurant above the pool (to die for), don't miss out on the wood-fired pizza on the rooftop (couldn't get enough of it), and the beach grill had great and yummy lunch options. Also, a stop at Coco's Cafe is a MUST...the best caramel coffee and pastries! It's an older resort, so some of the buildings need to have things replaced but I think they're working on that. Ground floor level rooms are ideal - we had a third floor room the first night (but knew upon check in that we were changing rooms the next day). It was clean, spacious and nicely renovated, but with the vaulted ceilings...we were awoken during the night with chirping and scratching sounds in the roof. Didn't get any sleep that night. Our next room was ground level, clean, quiet, pool side, near the beach and nicely renovated - couldn't have asked for better! It's worth the upgrade to the Sunclub - you can have a more privated breakfast at the Sunclub area, premium booze, wait service at the beach and at the pool - it was great. We had such an amazing time at this resort, had plenty of food options for us to all eat really, really well (kids as well as adults), LOVED the beach, has a blast at the pool...Overall, I would recommend this resort - for the price point compared to other resorts, it was well worth it.

Impressive Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

Very clean, well kept. I felt they were short staff as we had issues with room service; such as short changed on towels and washroom amenities. Our private concierge promised things that never occurred. The room bar fridge was filled 3 days after we checked in.

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana: Great resort with growing pains

The hotel is lovely but there are areas that still seem to be under construction or sloppily/hastily put together (particularly in the rooms). In El Mercado, we found a bunch of screws at eye level of one of the dining tables which my 4 year old found and luckily we caught before she could get hurt. While dining in Noodle and Thread, water fell on me from the pipes on the ceiling. In general I found the staff to be extremely friendly but not particularly concerned with efficiency of service. [... read more] No hustle, if you know what I mean. Although, there were a handful of staff that I found to be extremely professional and polished with their service, as well as warm and friendly. The pool area was really great and fun for my daughter but again the service was slow. Food was great but disappointing as I expected it to be exceptional given the status of the resort. I found it offensive that the cabanas were only available to a certain level of guest otherwise $99 USD per day was required. That is ludicrous and way too expensive. I have stayed at 5 star resorts and have never encountered this before. Given the cost of this resort, it is my opinion that butler service should be complimentary and all of the amenities should be free of charge (apart from services like massage for instance). Abundance of food and drinks, everywhere you look. Great grounds, clean and friendly staff. Beach and pool short walk/distance. Food was good quality and a variety of options. Lots of entertainment and things to do.
