Ocean Coral Spring: Worst resort I’ve ever stayed in

I traveled with my husband, a 2 year old and a 9 month old baby. For the service: After the check in, nobody informed us about the operation of the resort. When you are looking for information, each person gives you a version. We were told that no reservation is necessary for the restaurants except for the buffet and Sakura. On the other hand, when we decided to go to eat elsewhere than in the buffet we were refused because we do not have a reservation. Or because they are the privileged one [... read more]s who are only allowed to eat before 8 pm. I found it ridiculous that a number of people have more rights than others for an all inclusive resort. They try to force you to upgrade to their privileged plan. For the rooms: we were given a room without air-conditioning, without dryer, steamer. We called several times to get them and to fix the AC, but without success. They changed our room when I finally told the lady that I will stay in the lobby with the kids until they fixed the AC. Our flight was delayed for more than 7 hours. When I went to check in, I asked for accommodation like a late check out because I couldn't sit in the lobby with 2 kids for 10 hours. The gentleman at the front desk told me that they don’t offer late check out and that if I want to stay in the room I have to extend my vacation. I was shocked and thought that this was inhumane. However, on the way to the airport I met a couple on the bus who told us that they were given a late check out until 3pm. I guess because we are black, the treatment is different. Bunch of racists. I don't recommend anyone to spend their vacations in this place. Too much inequality and racism.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Perfect weather, great food and service

Overall, given the busy holiday season, we had a lovely escape with only a few hiccups along the way. Our flight was delayed and after the hour and half shuttle from the airport, we did not check in until 7:30 pm on New Year's eve- which was a bit chaotic. Although the rooms were quite spacious our daughters' room was situated in another building, not as close to ours as we had hoped and we wanted to move. Our room also had recently been fumigated --smelled awful- and had a dead cockroach on the floor. There was no hot water either.-when we looked under the sink there was some mold. Our minibar was empty- not even water- Saturday, Sunday and Monday. After 3 requests to change rooms (Karime was a "star" concierge) made it happen late Monday night and that night were moved to be 4 rooms away from our daughters (in El Beso) This room seemed less dated and in better condition with consistent hot water and a full minifridge with many bottles of water! Our daughter's room had a broken thermostat- it was quite cold in there but the balcony was nice. Twice our girls put out "do not disturb" and the maids came in anyways to clean before they could tidy their affairs and they were not happy about that. POOL-The adult only pool where we were at was great- not too loud as the other family areas pools ( it is a big resort- over 900 rooms and 4 or 5 large pool areas!) were very busy and full of activities. Great bar service, towel service and helpful staff were nearby. Our rooms looked out over this area and by 3 pm their swim up bar and activities became quite loud, which was not ideal if you wanted a nap. There were many lounges and no rush to put towels out. Also this area had many umbrellas for shade and a decent bathroom nearby. Some days staff would come by with a toucan or an iguana but you would have to pay to have photos with them. BEACH-We love to walk the beach but there really is not much beach to walk--the photo is misleading as the beach has eroded away considerably to reveal many rocks (several stubbed toes later) and the water was rough and dark and not baby blue at all with rough seaweed, not sand at the bottom in many areas. We did not parasail or use the spa but they were options we were asked each day if we wanted to... The ocean, while we were there, was way too rough for paddle boarding or any other water sports.(red and yellow flags each day) FOOD-We would have our breakfasts at the Blue Moon- Rudy was the BEST server and the breakfasts were always so great!... lunches at the buffet were great too. We were not allowed to book any a la carte as we did not pay for the "privilege" upgrade which meant we had to show up and just hope for an open table or stand in line for a buzzer and continue to wait. This was frustrating as it was a high season and the resort was very full. Some of our favourites aside from the Blue moon- Mikes coffee, great place to have a morning or mid afternoon java, Route 66 had good wings, the Creperie was also a tasty stop. Pezvalas, the west indies restaurant was also a pleasant surprise. Our daughter is vegetarian and there were few a la carte options, however they are very diligent about asking about food allergies and if still hungry she could always find great food at the buffet. SITE- We would also go to the piano bar in the lobby for a beverage or two after dinner or find a seat just outside in the courtyard. There was often live music, a dj dance floor or karaoke the couple of nights we hung out there as there were many seating areas. I believe that one night the theatre was open with a Michael Jackson tribute. FYI- There are many wild animals that have become really comfortable with people beside the 3 local cats: the coati,(sort of a cross between a cat and a raccoon-and the monkeys in particular. These monkeys were being fed by kids (it clearly says do not feed the wild animals) and a mom was bit in the arm by a monkey when we were there. Although they are entertaining, they clearly can be aggressive. There is a pedestrian path along the road where these animals hang out in a sort of "sanctuary" and many golf carts to take you from the beach to the lobby as it would be a long way for some. OFF-SITE-It was 40 $ (there and back) for a taxi to Playa del Carmen and we did leave the resort to check it out and stroll down 5th avenue. Be forewarned, the vendors see your bracelet and sort of bug you as you go which was a bit annoying...but we were happy to see the downtown and some artisans alongside the standard stores (like in the mall back home) We considered a trip snorkelling at Isla Mujeres but had done it once before so declined ( 129$ US per person)

Ocean Maya Royale: Great food, pool, and staff!

I chose this resort partly because of the numerous reviews by folks saying they had been multiple times. After a week at the Ocean Maya Royale, I can see why! It felt like a solid four star resort - we stayed in one of the villas and had a small balcony. Rooms were clean and modern. Food was great, especially at El Charro near the pool. Loved the cafe as well and the French restaurant was surprisingly good. The crowd was a bit older (mostly couples in their 40s/50s) so the vibe was very mellow [... read more]. Staff were very friendly and respectful. The beach isn't great but you can walk down the beach to a fresh water lagoon that's worth taking a look at. The perfect getaway to relax and restore.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Lovely resort

This resort was well kept, very clean and run by friendly accommodating staff. Very comfortable and clean rooms.The ala carte restaurants were amazing..I loved blue moon the best, sensei was also very good, I must say they were all good and there was a variety of choice at the main buffet. We enjoyed the adults only section. The bistro bar was run efficiently and the food was delicious. I would recommend this resort to anyone. Ocean Coral Spring: Great Family Experience!

Everything was awesome from the room to the pools to the grounds to the amenities!! Just remember to get up early to get your seats if you want to sit at the main pool! Also they took amazing care of our dietary restrictions like celiac and peanut allergies. The chefs Manuel and Shanna Banana.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Family Vacation

The hotel overall was good. We would not say 5star - we felt they catered to selling Privilege packages and they received the better service - private pools, separate beautiful restaurants, private shuttles, nicer rooms etc. The resort is older and could use an updates. There were not enough shuttles for people. The staff were all great - especially the staff in the bowling area. We had so much fun bowling!

Ocean El Faro: The resort was ok

Ocean el faro was not close to a 4.5 star resort. Food was below average and the restaurants resold below average buffet food. Room and common areas had lots of damage. Beach was very rocky and had some garbage around. Very few pool chairs and even fewer umbrellas. All taken all the time. Whole place felt cheap. Very overpriced!!!

Ocean Coral Spring: Perfect vacations

The resort was perfect for us. The staff was amazing, the service was good, the food was good, there was a lot of things to do, the restaurants were good and there are many of them. Our favorite was the Indian restaurant. There are 2 beaches and the one on the right was beautiful. The other one was a little Rocky. We Enjoyed the lazy river everyday. Everything was well organized.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: It was ok

When we booked, I did ask if we were going to be around children and if it would be loud. We were told no yet we are 2 people with no kids and were. put in the nosiest part of the hotel. Kids screaming at 5 in the morning. Not impressed with this booking as they wanted us to sit through a time share just so we switch rooms. We get to switch after 3 days with out sitting in an hour and a half presentation, but hasn't happened yet. The rooms are ok nothing special. Some service sucked but they ar [... read more]e under staffed for the size of the resort. We both have been to better and probably will never come back to this resort.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Over all nice property but a few things could be improved.

-The beach is very rocky and dangerous, the surf is very high and the undertow can be strong, there is a quieter beach area but it is off the property. The main pool was crowded ans noisy but the El Beso pools were nice. The lazy river is small and there are only a few floaties available. If you didn't have a butler you have to stand in line at 7:30 every morning to get your a la carte resto reservations. We ate most of the time at the PezDama and Privelge restos since they were on the beach [... read more] and the staff were so nice. -The buildings and grounds are well maintained and clean. - The staff are super nice but alot of them seemed to be new and were not able to provide information when needed. -The rooms are spacious with lovely balconies with swinging baskets. -The activities are nice, people seemed to be enjoying the dance classes, games etc. -The shows were hit and miss, best were the Magic Show and the Fire Show. -Every night there is live music and dancing at the central plaza, it is fun and family friendly. -Its worth it to have the privelege package, having a butler really facilitates things if you have problems(our safe malfunctioned), saves time with restaurant reservations and generally get info for you since a lot of the staff were either new or didnt speak much English.

Ocean Eden Bay: Amazing Resort

There is nothing you can say bad about this resort, we have been travelling 3-4 times a years for 30 years and this was the best resort we have been too. The staff are amazing, if you are lucky enough to meet Kemar you will be treated like royalty at the privilege side, Robert at the swim up is amazing, the group at the swim are all awesome. Not a single employee at this resort is bad. The food is unbelievable, you will not be any travellers “issues”. The beach is gorgeous but you must h [... read more]ave water shoes, honestly a must. We will be back more than once. The only thing I will say is if you do not like the smell of pot, do not go to Jamaica., it is in the air a lot, I don’t like it but it was worth it the resort and people are awesome.

Ocean Maya Royale: Love Ocean Maya

This was my third time to the Ocean Maya. The last time was December 2018. I book this resort because it's close to Playa Del Carmen, adults only, and it isn't to big. I love the small buildings with only 6 rooms in each, the grounds are always lovely, I like there is a busy pool and a quiet one. The food is good and there are enough restaurants to choose from when I do a 10 day stay. This time around things were just a little bit below where they had been 4 years ago. The evening shows w [... read more]ere fine but had fewer outside entertainers, dinner at El Charro by the pool was ok but I have had better Mexican food in my home city. Just a few things looked a bit neglected but the rooms were clean, there was always enough food and booze. (the Italian and Romantica restaurants were still excellent!) The lobby is looking worn and outdated. Dirty torn carpets, couches that are dirty, check in staff who aren't as enthusiastic as they used to be. Door knobs coming off in the bathroom by the Sports bar. Just little things. From talking to a local I think it is perhaps just a similar issue to Canada, everyone is screaming for enough staff. I never felt like there was anything lacking. We had a lovely vacation and rest and I would totally recommend others pick this resort.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Pretty good, very big

Ocean el Faro el beso (adults only area) was very nice and very large, with multiple pool, lounge and bar areas. The day time entertainment was fun, but because there were so many areas, it sometimes felt like we were missing out on other areas of the resort. The Sports bar could use some snacks, the carts could be more frequent. The food was what we expected and the bar staff was a bit slow but very kind. The lazy river was a super fun addition to the resort!

Ocean Eden Bay: We loved our stay and we loved the resort

We've been to over 15 all inclusive resorts before and each one was special in its way. Ocean Eden Bay scored high on entertainment, service and food. I wish I new the animator's name so I can mention it here because he was amazing. Before the trip I had read reviews about slow service: we've seen none of that. In our experience service was always prompt and the staff were very friendly. We loved the quality and choice of food and also the many "a la carte" options we had for evening dining, no  [... read more]reservations needed. The beach is rather narrow but well maintained. You could see the staff working hard to clear the sea weed. There are corals on the bottom of the sea so water shoes are needed. There were lots of palapas and chairs available any time of the day. I have to say, we were in December, not sure if it's always like that... We haven't spent much time by the pool so I won't comment on the pool side, other than that it looked gorgeous.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing resort

I’ve heard great things about this resort so I booked it by myself and loved it ! The entertainment and the entertainment staff was absolutely fantastic!!!!!! I didn’t think the staff was as friendly or outgoing as I’ve heard they were however still professional and kind , The resort was very very clean and beautiful. The beach buffet staff was my favourite very friendly and always helping and smiling , however the staff at the main buffet not so much there was a few that were amazing but  [... read more]overall no smiles had to beg for coffee and the really didn’t go out of their way to clean the tables to seat us or even bring us a coffee , as a server it was very disheartening;( they seemed mad or sad or something I couldn’t figure it out. as soon as they saw I had a tip the demeanour changed and I was royalty and got a smile , although I do understand that it must be hard to serve and not make tips I do think that if they smiled and or look like they were happy they d be making more . That’s the only complaint I had was some of the staff was rude in buffet areas ;( I give the resort a 4 and a half star ⭐️ Because they went above and beyond to entertain us and keep the place beautiful!!! Very impressed. Food was good !! I’ll be back and recommend it . Thank you especially Mini Cooper and Loly from the beach buffet for being so nice and accommodating to a solo guest ❤️

Ocean Riviera Paradise: The beach does not look like this.

The resort is very large and sprawling. There are trolleys available if you don’t want to walk. The area where the splash park is, is called ‘Daisy’ and is approximately in the centre of the property. We had a problem with our initial room and had to be moved. The first room was so musty smelling, we could barely breathe and could not stay there. We ended up in Eden, which was closer to the beach and a much nicer location. All other’s were first come first serve and you put your name on a waiting list. All restaurants had a QR code for their menus, however paper ones were available upon request. They had 2 mixologist station on the property that served amazing drinks.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Pretty Good Resort

We booked a privilege package/room. The food at this resort was amazing, and having dinner at one of the restaurants each night was really nice. Sakura, the teppanyaki restaurant was incredible, and an experience everyone should try to enjoy. Out only issue with food was at the Mexican restaurant, Margherita. I ordered a mango margherita, and it came with a lot of hard plastic shards in it. We told the waiter, and he seemed genuinely shocked. They brought another to her, and again it had lots o [... read more]f large and sharp plastic shards. Once is a mistake, twice is negligence. The drinks were great at the various bars, the piano bars make some really nice ones, and it's also nice to see them create and try new and unique things for drinks at the piano bar. Part of the privilege package included top shelf liquor, but the pool bars, and lobby bar were so busy that the bartenders just used whatever bottle already had the spout attached infront of there quick grab station. This didn't bother me, the bar tenders (and alot of the other staff) were working incredibly hard. It was just an observation I had. If you really wanted the premium alcohol, it seems like you would need to request that each drink. We visited each pool, aside from the Daisy pool, they all were great. The foam party in the Eden pool was a blast. The beach one is nice, but the privilege section of the beach was amazing. We spent alot of time just hanging out in the cabana style lounge couches. My only other major downfall of this resort, and the main reason why I wouldn't go back was the constant hounding by the H10 staff. When we arrived we were told of a breakfast the next morning as an information session. Little did we know this turned into a very aggressive time share sales pitch. It was disgusting to watch late in the trip, a young family being aggressively pressured into a major financial commitment. Knowing that someone with less will power to resist might be forced into something that may negatively hurt them for a long time. We also seen a lot of guests struggle to get dinner reservations who did not get the privilege package. Overall, we did enjoy our time, the plastic in the drink, I really hope that was just a one off incident. But the aggressive sales pitches at every turn just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Good resort - small beach, AMAZING STAFF

Overall, a really great resort. Be careful however, bring lots of extra cash. The guys on the beach really try to scam you, so be careful. Restaurants are decent.. But staff was truly incredible! The beach is fairly small and there was some seaweed but they were diligent with scooping it up the following day. Pools were amazing!! As i said previously, the staff truly make the experience worthwhile.

Ocean El Faro: 9 day stay in Punta Cana

Hotel located 1 hour away from the Punta Cana Airport. Grounds are well maintained with lush greenery. Hotel lobby is the most impressive space on the resort. While rooms are nicely decorated, on closer inspection they are a bit tired (chipped tiles, missing grout, caulking in sink worn off) considering how old the resort is. Daily housekeeping was not thorough as I’ve seen at other resorts (e.g. floors not swept well). Food at the Privilege lounge was best, found the buffet lacked variety and [... read more] a la carte restaurants were mediocre (slow service, food not much better than the buffet). Privilege area beach service was great though the area is not in a prime stretch of beach on the property and seaweed is not raked/hauled away from it as is it on the remainder of the property. Overall we visited for sun and sand and had a pleasant time, would consider the stay to be a value pick. 3.5 stars

Ocean Coral Spring: Very clean resort

This resort was very nice. We really were made to feel welcome. We had read great reviews about the Sakura restaurant so we were excited to make reservations. Sadly we were very disappointed. When we arrived our drink orders were taken. The chef came and told us about we were having but it was so loud in there you could hardly hear what she was saying. She cooked, gave us the rice and vegetables then cooked the meat after, using the same utensil back and forth with the raw shrimp and raw chi [... read more]cken. We were barely finished eating, and still didn’t have our drinks when the cook told us we needed to be leaving because they had another sitting coming. Not impressed.
