Could have been better

The hotel itself and resort was a great layout with lots of pools, places to eat and a market set up right next to it daily. The service was poor and staff was rude. The buffet was the only place to get good dining service, all a la cartes had one to two staff members serving an entire sitting. Also the maintenance staff staired at us quite often.

We had a lot of fun Food was not great but ok

Grounds were lovely staff friendly dining room decent pools beautiful. Beach outstanding activities fun. I would say overall the place is somewhere I would go again and invite friends. The market had lovely things and the opportunity to do things was all at our fingertips. Loved the dance lessons and exercise classes the shows were fantastic and the weather a1. It was OK...

I went for a low price and knew the Amigo was 3-star. In that sense I can't complain...got my money's worth and escaped this terrible Canadian winter. As always, the Cuban people are delightful. I especially appreciated Angel and the other Sunwing rep and Yorgan (name??), the excellent guide on the very good trip to the Cuban countryside. One piece of advice for Amigo management: for heavens sake Get A Decent Map! It should be on a full sheet of paper and should be drawn in accurate conventional [... read more] top-down fashion, not a design-based 45 degree slant. I am good at reading maps, but couldn't decipher this one.

Club Amigo Guardalavaca

I have been at this resort for 5 + years. I will go back there again for the next 3 years till I retire from work. Then I hope to spend longer vacations in the area. I enjoy the people the service. the staff was wonderful. The resort was also great.

Excellent value for the money. Great resort

This resort was great. The staff and services were better than I have had at higher star resorts. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. I was there with 5 others and everyone felt the same.

Better than we expected

In our opinion, this hotel was worth the price. We updated our room to a villa (which makes a huge difference) but everything besides that was great! The food is what you would expect in Cuba but the service was good. Right by the beach and plenty of pools!

Good value

The resort was bigger than I expected. It had lots of hot water. The food was good and nice variety but the buffet room was more cafeteria style and sometimes there were lineups. Four lovely pools. Hang onto your beach towels as they ended up disappearing and there is a payment at the end of your stay if you are missing yours..The night time shows were mediocre....

Resort was good rooms only about 1 1/2 star

I thought the grounds were very nice along with the beach area people very friendly. Was very disappointed with room paid to upgrade room for ocean view with balcony room we got was right in bar area no balcony very noisy curtains were half off hocks no drawers for clothes light bulb burned in bathroom over sink never got replaced,kept running out of hot water.Buffet was good, good variety of food, alacart restaurants were very good. Carefree week at the beach at a friendly resort

We have stayed at this place many times over the years, and it gets better (especially the food- now much more colourful vegetables and more variety). Three resorts in one, with a room options ranging from plain to fancy. There are 3 nice pools (2 with swim-up bars), about 10 restaurants/snack bars, high quality daily activities (such as stretching and aqua-fit) and nightly shows, several nice beaches, loaner bicycles and motorbikes for rent, aquatic equipment in good condition (sea kayaks, peda [... read more]l boats, catamaran) and a large campus that gives you a chance to walk as much as you want everyday. Kitchen staff working on improving the vegetarian offerings.

Good place to stay .. friendly staff

the standart rooms were small , but Villas was amazing , the beech was fantastic .. programs were good .. however food needs improvement and the reception area needs more staff to help the clients ..overall was good ..

Clean well run property

My wife and I enjoyed our week at Club Amigo Guardalavca, north east Cuba. We were surprised at the line-up for meals. The staff are well trained, friendly and welcoming. It is a safe, happy resort. Give it a try!

Awesome Vacation

We stayed at Club Amigo for the fourth time January 19 - February 2, 2015. We had a marvelous time. We stayed in the barracks where we have noticed many upgrades done since last year lots of fresh paint and the bathrooms have new toilets. We always hot water for showers and maid did a wonderful job keeping our room clean. The food was good, always something to eat. The bungalow section buffet is the best for breakfast, dinner and supper just have to get there early to avoid the linups. Great resort

we went here from Jan 26 to Feb 9 we had a great time the staff was always helpfull ready with a smile , the only down side was the rooms, the are dated but with a little face lift they would be fine. We will be going back.

Great Resort

We stayed in a Villa, it was great. The Villa's are a bit far from the main building, this is great if you want a bit of quiet time. The food was above average with many places to eat. Grounds were very well kept and people were very very friendly. This resort impressed me enough that we will certainly return again.

Amazing resort

This resort is really nice. It has under gone some wonderful changes and we loved it. This was our 4TH time we will go back in a heart beat. They have added a new breakfast area, mthere is always something to eat on the buffett. The resort is very clear the pools are beautiful nd so is the beach

Nice resort but dated

Al La cart restaurants were great buffet was OK. Rooms were dated could use some remodeling. Resort was clean and beach was great. It would be nice to have an outside bar and snack shop that was NO SMOKING.

Wonderful vacation

We were two families with teenagers and there was much to do to keep them entertained. The weather was fantastic and the people were friendly. The food was good, there was a lot to choose from so we had no complaints. We arrived late and were hungry. It would have been nice to have a quick tour but we found our way around. We stayed in the bungalows and they were wonderful. Make sure you keep a count of your beach towels (blue ones) because they charge you if you lose one. The kids loved the boats, kayaks, snorkeling, pool volleyball and nightly entertainment! The a la cartes were wonderful, book as many as you can! We would go back and we have recommended it to our friends!

Club Amigo Take Two

Ahh Club Amigo we meet again. This is my second time staying at Club Amigo (I'm a 26 year old female who Stayed Jan.23 - 30th 2015) The first time being last year. I am very impressed with improvements that have been made since then. The hotel itself is looking a lot brighter on the outside thanks to a fresh coat of paint. Always something to eat, always something to drink. My personal favorite place to grab a drink is the pirate ship bar. Rego (spelling may be wrong) makes the most delicious drinks, and puts the most time and effort into them which I really appreciate. The beach is always busy but I don't mind. Most times you're able to get a chair with a tip in hand but if not that's ok...just put down a towel, no big deal! I love this resort...especially for what you pay. Everything went smoothly this year and I really have no major complaints. Can't wait for my next visit! PS. I stayed in the barracks (again) and our room was perfect. Older YES, but very functional and everything worked. I traveled with a group of people who were all situated in different sections of the resort so I got to see what the other rooms looked like. Personally for me...the barracks are just fine, I wouldn't feel the need to upgrade, but if you are looking for something a little fancier...please do so!

Amazing location - plenty to do

we stayed at the club Amego - in tropical room which was awfull. Mould on the white washed walls, damp smell and damp bedding. There was no balcony and the partiers stayed in the hotel, so you had lots of noise in the early hours of the morning. I encouraged my husband to smoke a cigar in the room to cover the odor. We asked for another room in the villas, every day we are told to come back and every day there was none available, at the end of the stay, another client had said I should have tipp [... read more]ed the staff for the change of room up front! all that said! food was good for Cuba, beaches wonderful. Location great, I would certainly return but to the villas or Bungalows.

Amazing resort

As this is our fourth time in club amino we have found the staff to be amazing with us .we have also found the food to be good as well.the rooms were big and clean.we go to relax and enjoy ourselves and make do of all situations whether it was sunny or raining. Yes it was sunny the whole time so if your looking for a cheap place to go and enjoy relaxation then I suggest club amigo for your holidays.
