Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Excellent Resort!

We spent February 12-19, 2018 at Paradisus La Perla. We’ve been to many all inclusive resorts and this is by far the best we’ve stayed at. It may have cost a bit more for us than others but it was well worth it. Upon check in, we were given an upgraded room in the Royal Service section. Although we couldn’t use the Royal Services, the room was really nice! We didn’t go to the pool area while there, but we did see that people were placing towels on the chairs early in the day to reserve them. We went to the beach every day rather than the pool....the beach was great, there were waiters there and you could order food from a snack bar as well...nachos, burgers, hot dogs, etc. The one thing I would strongly recommend is that the resort put some signage up warning patrons of rocky areas in the water....we learned quickly where to go in the water where there were no rocks....we spoke to several people who actually sustained injuries from one area that was extremely rocky. Although La Perla is adults only, it does share some restaurants and the entertainment with the kid friendly La Esmeralda resort. If you want quiet at mealtime, I suggest sticking with the adults only restaurants. I did find that some “adults only” sections, like the Gabi lounge had kids at times I felt inappropriate, like at 10 at night, with adults in the bar scene, drinking, dancing and partying. Also the Melia Hotel reps tried to get us to attend an “information session” (time share??) about all their resorts, hotels etc...we have learned our lesson on this type of thing before and it took a few no thank yous, not interested for them to back off. I would highly recommend La Perla....we had an awesome vacation!!

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Very good resort

We liked it very much and would not hesitate to go back next year, hotel is under renovation so parts are tired but very clean All the staff at Melia were fantastic, so friendly and so helpful The beach is second to none

Melia Braco Village: Great Resort

The resort size I thought was perfect (smaller than most), very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was very good. The Adventure Park is a nice addition, especially for younger people but every age were taking part. Enjoyed the bicycle tour. Beach wasn't amazing -- quite a lot of coral washes in that's a little hard on the feet at times. I would recommend water shoes.

Zel Cozumel: great little resort

a smaller all- inclusive...it had only one buffet and 3 a la carte but in all honesty the buffet was excellent and is all you really need to got to. its an older facility but you can see it is very well maintained. staff is awesome. its was generally quiet and we never had trouble finding seats on the beach or at the pools. had a great time

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Good time but not great...

The facility was good but not worth the extra cost. Very good service the first few days, but then we were lost in the crowds. Thank goodness we did not opt for the royal service. Felt it was royal service the first few days, then the crowds, the construction... Royal service people were overwhelmed with jack hammers next to the secluded pool? Music was so loud to cover up the noise. Very much felt that our service dropped off when we did not display interest in time shares or other purchases [... read more]. Food was good but some evenings were disappointing. When we attempted to escape the noise of the poolside, the lovely beach area was inundated with vendors who kept circling around. Hotel staff did nothing to prevent this. Seaweed was left daily to pile on the beach... Bavaro Beach is not what it once was.... as is the case of many tropical paradises... It was a very restful time in the room, quiet and pleasant. The supposed HD tv was nothing more than a very old projection that most days would not work. I think were done with the DR... Room safe did not work at first but hotel very quickly repaired. Felt our room was secure and the grounds very lovely. The view when you first arrive, in the daytime, is very beautiful as the lobby contrasted to the nearby ocean. Shared the first day that our shower drain did not flow well, was never dealt with. It was a pleasant and nice stay, but not worth the added expense.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Great Family Resort

What a great Family Resort. Rooms were amazing kids had bunk beds, food was great. Kids club was amazing!!! 3 play structures in backyard. Staff was amazing kids buffet in kids club. Kids could eat anytime. Great activities in the kids club. Bouncy Castles on the beach. What a great place definitely will be visiting it again!

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Five Star??

For a five Star resort it was very disappointing,the chairs at the beach were so uncomfortable, cheap and old. Most of them were broken, something you find at a 2-3 Star resorts. No bar service on the beach, we're not alcohol drinkers but sometimes we like to have a latte or a water.The food at the buffet for most part was so so, the fruit was very scarce,basic fruits such as bananas only saw it once in the week we were there. Anyways we just wanted a comfortable chair on the beach and bar service, so we decided to upgrade to the "Royal Service" package which is now going to cost $90us per day for both of us, but as we proceeded to purchase this "Royal Service"package, Ana said to us sorry there is a big group coming in and that service is all sold out, you'll have to buy the other package "The Reserve" package for $120 per day. I feel she was only trying to sell us the more expensive package and was not interested in helping us at all. After we left we went to check out the Reserve side which was full of kids.. We wanted to be on the adult side which was the Royal Service side.We decided to go back to the front desk at the end of the day when Ana wasn't there to ask another guest service staff member to purchase this package which appenrately was "sold out" funny that when we asked him to purchase the package it was no longer sold out. After all of that commotion we finally purchased the "Royal Service" package and went and enjoyed our 5 star comfortable $90 per day chairs at the beach. Included in this package was 2 extra restaurants that were available to royal guests only. One was called the Palazzo. This was suppose to be an exclusive restaurant. We went there for dinner only to discover a cockroach crawling on the floor. My husband pointed this out to a waiter who stepped on the roach but left it there. In conclusion we will not be returning to this resort.. We have been to many 5 star resorts in Punta Cana and this is in no way a 5 star resort.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Nice resort

After a long day and being put in two different unacceptable rooms and a long discussion with the reservation supervisor, whose goal was to sell us an upgrade, we finally were given a really nice room. The resort was lovely although staff did not speak English very well. Restaurants were good although there had been a fire and several were closed. Two of the restaurants were not included and were not worth the extra cost.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Fabulous stay!

Gorgeous grounds, pools and beach. Lovely room, all conveniences, stocked mini bar and private outdoor space with fully furnished terrace. Stayed in building 21 which was within easy walking distance to everything. There is also regular shuttle service throughout. Lots of daytime activities and great nightly entertainment; shows and live music for dancing. Lots of fun! Good food and outstanding service.

Melia Braco Village: So easy to love it there!

We loved it all! After you get used to the humidity. The rooms, the food, the service, the entertainment, the beach and pools! Wow! These folks know how to host a party! Loved our servers! Everyone has such good energy and they seem to really care about you.

The Level at Melia Caribe: Disappointing

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. However, management is totally disorgannized. It took 3 hours to get our room. 10 couples that arrived after us got their room while we were kept waiting. Had to make a bit of a scene in order to get a room - and this is The Level ! Supposedly an upgraded experience. The room was nice but we they tried to put us in the regular section after having paid and booked the Adult Only section. We refused until we finally asked for the manager. The ro [... read more]om was nice and the maid service was great. Never heard or seen a “butler” or someone to answer any questions. The restaurants are all very similar serving barely warm food. American Grill and Agora were the exception. The beach and pools are nice. The gym would regularly have no water or towels. The resort is huge and takes a day or two to find out where everything is. Entertainment is lacking and not communicated so you never know what or where something is going on. The main lobby bar has some hustling waitresses. You ask for a beer one night, no problem. The next night, a waitress tries to collect $4.00 for a beer after saying only El Presidente is free. Once I told her to get me an El Presidente like the previous nights, she dissapeared and never came back. I believe she was trying to pocket $4.00 for the free cerveza. We had a great experience at another Melia resort 2 years ago (Paradisus Punta Cana) but this resort will make us reconsider going back to a Melia resort. Warning the pathways are extremely slippery when wet. Saw at least half a dozen people with cast on their foot after a slip. Most concerning is the staff at The Level reception take passports away for an extended period of time to process the check-in which most guests felt uncomfortable about.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing Resort but very big

We arrived at 12:00 midnight and escorted to our room that Tripcentral purchased only to find already occupied. Went back to Lobby and they assigned us another room. We where so disgusted for various reasons as not any where near the pictures we where sent by tripcentral. The next morning I went to the reception desk and after working with the Transat representative and a further cost of $450.00 US was given a room that we enjoyed for the balance of the week. Zel Cozumel: awesome resort

This was our second trip to the Melia and the second was as good as the first, we will be returning again. The food is good, the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and the cost is reasonable. A very relaxing holiday. Oh and if you stay in the tower minimal to no kids.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: More Disappointed then not

The food was boring and very disappointing. Our package included 3 al la carte restaurants, after trying 2 we didn't even bother booking the 3rd. We were there for a week and after day 2 we went to town or the marina to eat all of our meals. The staff at the hotel (cleaning, pool,restaurants) was excellent the check in staff was good. The room was clean but the air conditioning could not keep up and therefore uncomfortable for sleeping. The pool was unusable for almost everyone in the reso [... read more]rt because of the cold temperature, the staff would not even enter the pool for aerobics and other activities. The resort was clean and the grounds well maintained.

Zel Cozumel: Great resort for families

This resort was very nice, staff very nice and friendly, great kids club, amazing beach but weather wasn't great so were not able to enjoy like we could do it was a good thing that there was many sports like tennis, mini golf, soccer on the beach and great walks along the beach even if weather wasn't great. Nightlife very quite so if you are looking for nightlife this resort isn't it but if you want to rest then you have all you need. Food was very good and they had a nice variety. Melia Puerto Vallarta: Great resort!

Loved the location of this hotel. My husband and I like to explore outside of the resort and found the location of this hotel to be perfect. We were able to walk across the street to the Marina where there was a variety of restaurants and shops and about a 15 minute cab or bus ride from the city. The hotel and our room was very clean and the service was excellent. We had a beautiful ocean and mountain view and we were able to watch the cruise ships sail in and out of the Marina. Paradisus Punta Cana: 3 star hotel with the potential to become 5 star

Paradisus Punta Cana presents itself beautifully. The grounds are spectacular and their eco-friendly setting is magnificent. Everything is spotless. The staff are very friendly and helpful although at times the lack of proficient English made it difficult to communicate our needs. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best and far too often only lukewarm. On one occasion the breakfast buffet was so cold that it was impossible to eat. The Royal Service section was the only exception where [... read more] the service and food was impeccable. As well, the buffet was very limited in its choices. On three nights around 2:00 am there were very rowdy and loud guests on the grounds which the staff did nothing to stop. We loved the pool and were impressed by how hard the staff worked to make the guests welcome. We were disappointed in our room as it looked nothing like the advertised pictures. The maids never noticed when we were out of toilet paper and kleenex and had no face clothes so I had to go looking for somebody to get them for us. The public areas were beautiful but the suites are in bad need of a facelift. The walkways were poorly lit at night with uneven and cracked flagstone which were very dangerous and scary to navigate in the darkness. We feel that the hotel is over rated as a 4.5 but with some tweaking could merit the rating that they claim. It is well suited to a younger crowd and is ideal for families. Unless you are lucky enough to get a room near the pool, you had to walk a long way to get to the pool and restaurants. We will not return to this resort.

Zel Cozumel: 6th year at The MELIA Cozumel

We have made the Melia Cozumel our January getaway for the past 6 years for numerous reasons. We always stay in the 'tower' rooms (floors 4 to 12 have a great view of the water and the cruise ships going by in the distance). I find that the non-tower rooms to be a bit dated, but certainly very family friendly (close to family pool, activities, et cetera). The tower rooms are spacious and clean - excellent balcony settings; with a tiny, stocked fridge, and a coffee pot. (We have never had the r [... read more]ooms with a kitchenette / microwave, et cetera). The only concern is the lack of storage space for clothing when staying more than one week (I wish that they would bring back the dresser with drawers). Staff are A+ - although we do not utilize the children/adults games the staff are enthusiastic and keen to assist. All bar, wait, room staff are eager to please and readily greet all guests with a smile. They also remember their regulars too! (I wish more people would think to leave a tip for meal and bar service, room cleaning .... just my upbringing I guess.) Be sure to book a courtesy room (30 minutes) if you have a late departure - out of your room by noon but you can still use all amenities = a shower and change of clothes before you depart is welcome. Each year we see regular upgrades occuring to keep the Melia 'fresh' (this January we noted: new lobby furniture, many new mattresses and beds arriving in the tower, fresh painting / staining of wood buildings and doors, refurbished lower levels, et cetera) We are not really 'foodies' so I would rate the food a B+ for variety and lots of it! Each day is a different food theme, but basics always available for children and picky eaters. Breakfasts are great - lots of choices and speciality items made for you. We are not impressed with the three 'special bookings' restaurants - I have sent management an email about the set-up and delivery. We just really like the option of choosing our own food (buffet) at our own pace - who wants a schedule when on holiday? As mentioned, management welcomes input from guests and I am pleased to see that my input has resulted in a few changes that we've seen over the years at the Melia. Basically, we are a couple in our late 50s who enjoy a low key, relaxed getaway. One last point - the Melia is only a 10-15 minute drive to the airport (shuttle or a taxi for $12USD), so none of the lengthy rides after/before your flight.

Zel Cozumel: Excellent resort!!!

The hotel staff is the best part along with an amazing beach (best on the island)! The restaurants are good and the rooms are very clean. Great value for the price. We have just got back after two weeks and this was our 4th time at this resort. Would highly recommend.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Truly Paradise!

The Paradisus resort was absolutely fantastic. The grounds were gorgeous; the beach and pool areas were beautiful; food was great and the staff and service were top notch!! There is an excellent variety of restaurants and the buffet was very good. The staff is always smiling (Jensy the waiter by the pool and Tony in guest services were outstanding)!!
