Melia Las Dunas: great vacation for the price

Great vacation! Beautiful resort, pools and beaches. Food was good. Lots of variety to chose from. Rooms are basic but clean. Bring face clothes. We did have to move due to musty smell from ventalation which bothered my allergies. They did move us to a better room quickly with no fuss. Great for families and adults wanting a quiet time as resort has an adult pool where kids are not aloud. We had to ask for clean towels a couple times as well as water for our room. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Friendly Resort!

Enjoyed our stay at the Sol Cayo Santa Maria. Clean rooms, typical Cuban food, great staff! Usual disconnect in communication between resort & original booking - went with a handicapped traveller (in a wheelchair). Resort did not provide walk-in showers and.2-3 steps up into rooms. Luckily traveller was able to walk a little. Nice a la carte Cuban restaurant.....Italian not so good. Friendly and helpful staff, better than average contact with Sunwing rep at the resort. Memories Cayo Largo: Good for adult couple

Beautiful ground, decent food and incredible beaches (including clothing optional). Night entertainment is minimal. Gym is very well equipped. Hotel beach is mostly wavy, but there are other beaches, which are calm. It takes 20-30 minutes to get there by hotel "train" or less by taxi (2 CUC per person).

Tryp Cayo Coco: Beautiful Resort

Maid service clean your room everyday and always made sure you had plenty of toilet paper & bottle water in your fridge. Friendly staff always making you feel welcome, beautiful beach with plenty of chairs. Excellent food, the buffet has an awesome make your own pizza station, pasta bar and stir fry station. The grounds are well maintained and clean.

Melia Cayo Coco: Would go back for sure!

Everyone was so friendly and always had a smile. The rooms were clean and they all seem to be centrally located to all activities. The grounds, pool and beach were very clean and safe. The meals were amazing, I think I gained 10lbs:)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing people. Amazing service.

Simply beautiful! Relaxing! SPA is out of this world. People are exceptionally well trained, always with a smile on their faces and touch of humor in their comments. Loved every moment. Excellent enterteinment.

Melia Las Americas: fantastic

This was an excellent resort and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to this place. The people were great, the service was great, just a great place to go to. Lastly, the grounds around the resort were very clean.

Melia Marina Varadero: just ok

We were expecting a lot more for a 1.5 year old resort. It is quite shocking that the rooms have not been maintained well considering it is so new. We were disappointed with the a la carte restaurants. This resort has a lot of potential. The outside grounds and location are beautiful. We liked the short walk to the beach. Had a great time despite our disappointment in the resort.

Melia Las Dunas: For Cuba this is an excellent resort

No complaints about resort, rooms, service or food quality and selection. All the staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Only complaint I have is for the fumigating they were doing 3 or 4 times a day Smelled quite a bit.

Melia Las Americas: Love This Hotel

Beautifully kept grounds, gorgeous beach, good food, comfortable accommodations, great service and friendly staff. The close proximity to the Varadero Golf Course is a real bonus. I am a repeater for all these reasons.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Lovely resort, definitely on the pricier side

We recently spent a week at the Melia Caribe Punta Cana. We were in "the Level" which is the exclusive "adults only" area. Great room, great service, etc. but a little disappointed that we paid about $1725 per person and someone else we met paid $1500 through a travel agent for the same room and service level, flying on the same airline, from the same location.

Melia Las Americas: Golf and resort... spectacular

Amazingly clean and beautiful resort and the same goes for all the surroundings. Golf course is a gem with ocean view spectacular. 6 rounds and never boring. The blue sea and white sand is breath taking.

Melia Las Dunas: awesome resort

The grounds were beautiful, beach was awesome. Food was actually not bad compared to what I've been told. I just wouldn't recommend the buffet. Everything else was good.. I like how they have the beer gardens open 24 hours for a snack any time and when leaving for departure at 5 am it's nice to be able to eat. Especially when you have kids. The kids club was ok ..my son enjoyed it. I would definitely go back.

Tryp Cayo Coco: It was a good resort, but not 'impressing'

We spent a week at TRYP the 2nd week of January. With very friendly service and awesome staff at the meals, we were very impressed with the buffet & a la cartes. Our room was right by the main stage which made for louder evenings, and only cold showers. We loved the quiet pool as it was away from all the noise of the activities at the main pool - and the party animals. It also seemed that there were a lot of locals doing work there, but made you feel a bit insecure safety wise. Great great great [... read more] beautiful beach. Super close to the airport.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Not what we expected

Although the grounds, beaches and rooms were beautiful we felt like this resort "nickel and dimed" you. You could never get a decent time at the ala carte without paying an extra $5.00 per person. You could not sit in certain sections of the beach or go to certain beach bars unless you were part of the Level club. When booking golf (which is why we went to this resort) we were told by travel agent that it was $34.00 per person for the cart but in reality they wanted $75.00 per person per cart. W [... read more]e ordered a bottle of wine for dinner one evening as again we were told that we would get 20% off, but when checking out they charged us $2.00 more than the original price. I know this doesn't sound like a lot but we did pay just over $2500. for the two of us to go here and were expecting it to be a true all inclusive.

Melia Las Dunas: Las Dunas overbooked - we got Bumped!

spent the week at Melia Cayo Santa Maria. It was smaller than Las Dunas and for me was a better set up - tennis next to lobby, bigger less crowded beach than Las Dunas, More mature foliage around the pool. Excellent service and good food - I certainly cannot complain. A wonderful break from Canada's cold.

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful and friendly resort!

All the time when we are going on vacation to Cuba we know in advance that it will be friendly staff and beautiful maintaining resort. Returning just few days ago from Melia Las Dunas we got everything what we expected. Food was amazing with a lot selection of meat, fish, good cheese and other food. At lunch time at Sea Food restaurant you can get amazing grilled fish and calamari that you never ever eat before! The room vas pretty big and always sparkles after visit of cleaning lady. The small market on the end of resort was very cute and full of souvenirs. The most impression was a scuba diving trip! The Scuba Diving centre was with new equipment and very professional team. And not so expensive as you may pay in other countries. It was a great week of vacation for my family!

Melia Las Dunas: Nice Resort, but a couple disapointments

My Fiancé and I travelled to Cuba the week of January 4th-11th, 2015. The resort was very nice, and well placed and the pools were beautiful. It is my first time going to Cuba so I was pre-warned about the food, but it really wasn't that bad. The fish from the buffet is really tasty and so is the Pizza and the pasta from the fresh pasta bar. In the bigger buffet area they have more of a selection, not really foods I like to eat but we definitely did not starve. The snack bar by the adult pool [... read more] is by far the best (much better then the 24 hour beer garden snack bar). The food was always hot and fresh and tasty, whereas the same foods being served at the beer garden snack bar were always cold and kind of stale tasting. The a la carts were just OK, Mexican being my least favourite (service not the greatest, not very friendly, kind of rushy), the Italian and Romantica being the best. Italian had great service and good food/wine, same with Romantica but they also had an amazing pianist playing and dancers who also came in. Cons: The pool was beautiful but very cold. The day we arrived we went to get beach towels, but were told they had none. When we asked when they would get more, they didn't know (today, tomorrow, next week???)! We ended up getting some towels the next day, but only because we waiting in line for 15 minutes at 8:00 a.m. and they were out again by noon. We only got fresh towels twice the whole week. If you want a seat by the pool (beach was red flagged all week due to winds), you must go early or there will be no spots left. No hot water in the room for three days! this was inconvenient considering it is a five star resort. No French fries for three days! No Pizza the one day! The room was clean but I did find a cockroach in my suitcase on the third day. We were on the main level, so perhaps that's how it got into our room. Service was good ... most of the time! There was one bartender in particular who just looked right through me every time I went to order a drink, keep in mind I was tipping every single time I ordered something. The other staff was good and attentive but just the one bartender was not very friendly, I think he was sick. Pros: Maid was excellent, very sweet, cleaned our room and made nice things with our curtains everyday. Beach is stunning Carlos from the Buffet is awesome, very friendly and provided excellent service Misleidy from the Buffet was also amazing, very sweet and provided great service. The resort was easy to get to accustomed to, the main lobby was in the centre of everything. The night time shows were excellent ... a lot of fun. Cappuccinos and specialty coffees = Amazing I liked that they had an adult pool side, it made it very relaxing to sit by the pool Overall a nice relaxing vacation, I think the resort likely overbooked for the resources they have available to accommodate and for this reason I likely wouldn't return to this resort. I think had it not been so busy, the "cons" of our trip probably could have been avoided!

Tryp Cayo Coco: The Tryp Cayo Coco is a Great Resort

On arrival we learnt that the hotel was very old, the oldest in the area, but we found it reasonably comfortable. The bathrooms however need to be upgraded. Our rooms faced the quieter smaller swimming pool and from the balcony we could get a partial view of the ocean. The weather was great, mosquitoes however bothered us early mornings and late evenings. My children and grandchildren enjoyed themselves. For breakfast we enjoyed fresh fruits, omelettes and crepes. For lunch and dinner we enjoyed the fresh seafood and didn't mind the long line ups at the grill. The waiters were terrific and because we were a group of eight they would always reserve a table for us. There were three restaurants that required pre booking. The International, the Chinese and the Italian. There was also a Café which was open all the time and served good sandwiches. It was located quite near the entertainment area. They had evening shows every day which we attended. The kids shows pre-ceded the adult shows and the guests got involved in the shows . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tryp Cayo Coco and will definitely go back to this part of Cuba again. The good value for money, the great beaches and the warm hearted friendly people make this a fantastic vacation.

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful beach

We just stayed at MLD over New Years 2015. The hotel was very clean, very nice. The people were extremely friendly. The food was a little underwhelming but we didn't really care about that. We would definitely go back. The beach was so amazing and as the resort was so huge we always had something to do. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
