TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Amazing resort

It was what I and my husband wanted - not too crowded, very clean,service very good and people very friendly and caring. Our butler was Byron and he was very helpful and punctual. The guys at the restaurants were great too (Edwin, Luis,Risen). The weather was perfect, the food was delicious.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing time with wonderful staff !!!

This Bahia Principe Aquamarine resort was an amazing and beautiful place to be in January 2020. Everything was very clean and well kept. The bufffet restaurant had an excellent variety of food with great service and a lot of friendly smiles. The dancers were very talented and a joy to watch. The pools were very big with great entertainment and a lot of activities like volleyball, games and water exercises like aquazoomba and aqua spinning. Marlon educated us on the making of chocolate with cacao fruit and wine tasting. Willie entertained us with the making of coconut drinks. These wonderful people made us feel like part of big happy family. The pool foam party was awesome! This resort deserves a 5 star rating !

Punta Cana Princess: Great resort

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. I like the size of the resort making everything close by. The long stretch of beach made for great walks and offered many water sports. There were several restaurants to choose from. There were several tours and excursions offered by Sunwing. I really enjoyed flying out of Hamilton.

Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Fabulous time

This resort was very close to the reviews as well as the photos. Rooms were clean food was good and the hideaway offered all we needed. They even got us chocolate covered strawberries when asked. Very enjoyable time.

Riu Republica: Great Resort, Fun Times

The Riu Republica was an excellent resort. The rooms, service, grounds and ambiance was all top notch. The beach area and the pools were very good. They had a different theme each night for entertainment which was a nice change.

Ocean El Faro: Just okay. Liked the weather better than the resort...

Our stay was pretty good. - rainshower looked great but the floors in both rooms we stayed in were not tiled correctly and the water went all over the bathroom, into the hall and out the front door, instead of flowing to the shower drain. - When we mentioned about the shower in the first room, they told us they were moving us to a 2 bed room. Instead they took us to the same floorplan we had (1 bed, 1 sofa bed). The move wasnt about the beds, it was about the water everywhere! Yet they thoug [... read more]ht they were doing a great favour by "upgrading" us to a 2 bed room. - Atleast 1 restaurant was closed each night and the ones that were open had waiting lists even tho the restaurants werent full! - the ice cream parlour wasnt that exciting. Usually served in bowls, no cones/sauces offered. - we told the front desk that drain in the tub and one of the sinks didnt work but they never did anything about it. - food was just okay. We thought the Steakhouse would offer a number of meats but unfortunately they dont and the tbone was far too difficult to cut. Very disappointing! - a waiter poured 2 different kinds of red wine into the same glass - the snack bar food was always overcooked - not enough floats in the lazy river - too many vendors during the day and at night. It made the teens uncomfortable to walk in certain areas. - limited room service menu. - the sports bar had a pool table but there were 2 cues and both had broken tips! - staff was okay. Not very friendly, just did their jobs. - in 1 room the mini bar had small / sample size bottles of alcohol and 2 beers, the 2nd room had 2 beers. - their standards were never the same. Some times desserts looked great, other times just the brownie, no sauce, etc. - no facecloths. - I had a cream / white dress overcoat that I took to restaurants at night just incase it was chilly. Unfortunately the maid must have took it when she was removing sheets / towels because it went missing. I notified lost and found but to no avail... - the upside: the weather was beautiful and the resort is lovely to look at. The pools were always clean. The air conditioning worked. I must state that I work in the hospitality field and look at standards were ever I go. So these items seem minor but they do add up. Especially when I paid a fair amount of money for this trip.

Zoetry Agua Punta Cana: Paradise at Zoetry Punta Cana

Thank you to Karol Chareza for always recommending the perfect vacations! We have just returned from a magnificent stay at Zoetry Punta Cana. We stayed in suite 164,a romantic swim up with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. I would highly recommend this suite. The food and service were amazing. Ocean El Faro: Amazing resort

The entire place was excellent. All restaurants had very good food with great service. We would definitely return to Ocean El Faro. The only thing was it would have been nice to have the bowling alley and sports bar open earlier. They didn’t open until 3

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Unfulfilled promises

While the resort was not bad, it certainly didn't live up to the expectations it created. TL;DR - restaurants open once or twice a week and are fully booked before you get there, jacuzzi are not heated, never saw the butler we paid for, the gym is the small and one of the two treadmill remained broken all week. Don't waste your money here when you could afford a Sandals vacation or The Royal Playa Del Carmen for the same budget, much bigger bang for you buck. Restaurants - The first day o [... read more]f our stay we went to the guest service to reserve the restaurant for that night. It was disappointing to hear that although the website advertise 6 restaurants, only 1 or 2 are open per nights. We were looking to book each of them once and Don Pablo twice. The Takara was only open the night we got there and was fully booked. The lady at the guest reception would tell us that most of the other nights were booked as well only to magically find a table after she saw our dispair. On our first night of a la carte restaurant we rushed to be on time since it was written that they would only hold the reservation for 5 min. When we got there, the doors opened 7 minutes late. Once inside the restaurants, and throughout our meal we observed that close to half the tables remained empty. The food was good most of the time but the trouble to get a table was more than what you would expect from a relaxing vacation. Now this will probably make one of the Bahia Principe write one of their "were sorry about this "isolated" situation and hope you come back" generic anwser like on the other comments but the fact remains that we saw other couples with the same full booked experience we did Pools - The pools were nice and clean but the "jacuzzi" are nothing more than cold pools with jets. We haven't found a single heated jacuzzi in all of Bouganville and when we asked a staff member confirmed our obesrvation. Butler - Our room rates included a bultler but i never saw one during our stay... Gym - Might be one of the worst gym i saw in over 50 resorts. It had 2 treadmill, one of which is broken. One bike, a couple of free weights and had children sitting on equipment playing games on their phone... Grounds and rooms - Tge grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the rooms are nicely cleaned. Beach - The palm trees on the beach were nice but the water was murky. Overall, the resort is okay but not for the price they ask. They try to punch way above their weight class and its just disapointing to spend hard earn time and money when you had much better experience elsewhere for the same budget or less.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: My trip

The public areas and grounds were lovely. My suite was okay but a little run down. The housekeeper was sporadic. Some days they cleaned early but other days when I returned to my suite at 4 pm, the suite had not been cleaned.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Favourite place to go!

This was my 4th visit to this resort, and the 1st time taking my kids (8,11) and it is perfect! The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The lobby, indoor and out door sitting areas are beautiful and we could always find a spot to sit and have a drink. The pool area is on the small side and busy, but always meticulously clean and the beach is just amazing! The food was excellent there was always something for even our picky eater, and the staff were very pleasant and wonderful.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Value

Beautiful property. Well laid out. Huge swimming pool with lounge chairs for everyone. Choice of sun and shade around the pool. Lovely beach with lounge chairs too. Different nightly entertainment each night of the week. Buffet restaurants cater to all international travelers' tastes. Be sure to make reservations in advance for the three restaurants on the resort. Early check-in is not possible but you have use of the resort if you arrive before 3pm. All rooms are spacious with a balcony an [... read more]d mini-fridge that is stocked with very minimal soda and beer. Free large bottles of filtered water are provided in all rooms.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellence is an appropriate name!

Great weather, super beach, clean and well maintained. We had a wonderful relaxing week. You could find us every evening in the martini bar listening to a very mellow saxophone!! What could be better!

Excellence Punta Cana: Great resort

The hotel had excellent grounds that were well maintained. The friendly staff were always trying to please. The food was top notch and lived up to its 5star billing. Plenty of pools to choose from and always a lounger available at the pool and at the beach. The resort is a quieter resort, has a disco but you could truly relax.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing Ambar

This is the second time we were at this resort ( the last was 10 years ago) It remains a stellar resort. The resort is beautiful and clean The food delicious and most importantly the people are the kindest most helpful staff !!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Stay

We spent one week at the resort which covered New Years and it was a special night. The food was fabulous as was the staff. The grounds are very beautiful and clean. This was our second time staying here and we would come back again.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Christmas at the Senator

We travelled as a group of 14 for 14 days at the Senator over Christmas break. Let me start by saying we booked back in February and got a great deal - $1739/pp for 2 weeks. We met people at the resort that paid ~$2700 for 1 week. Due to the price we paid, my review is a little more forgiving. This resort thinks they are a five star based on their website, but they have a really long way to go to get there. We have travelled to many resorts 4-5 stars, all over the Caribbean so we know what [... read more] to expect - service being key to getting that five star. This resort is somewhere between a 3-4 star, depending on the type of room you book. FOOD/GASTRO/RESTAURANTS - The buffet isn't bad for a Caribbean resort. There are a tonne of food choices, some better than others. The first week the service was pretty good, the second week it all went down hill. Tables were not reset, condiments scarce (specifically salt & ketchup). One of the waiters actually went and got me a new bottle of ketchup on our last evening and was yelled at for doing so. Our favourite waiter was on the breakfast/lunch team. His name was Ferreria. Such a nice guy and went above and beyond. One of the cleaning ladies, Anotonia, also on the same shift was very sweet. She always made a point to engage with our baby and was always had a smile on her face. The a la Carte system is a joke. You can only book one a la Carte at a time for that specific day. You must get in line an hour before guest services open in the morning to even have a chance of getting a reservation before 9:30pm the same evening (earlier times are reserved for members). The Japanese was definitely the best. We had a reservation for 7:30pm (early rise that morning to get the reservation). Seated us late and didn't start our meal until 8:10pm. The meal itself was very tasty. The Italian was a late night. Reservation was for 9:30pm. Staff was very rude and started closing down before we even finished our meal. Lasagna was served cold-we didn't eat it. The rest of the food was OK. We late talked to some other vacationers who told us one of their group ate the cold lasagna and ended up with a $4000 doctor's bill because they had to be treated with an IV drip daily for the duration of their trip. We dined at the Steakhouse 3 times during our, twice as an a la carte and once for a wedding. All three times they were out of the Beef Tenderloin. For the wedding they offered us a T-Bone as a substitution. Almost everyday, one of using our group had tummy issues. So don't forget to bring the immodium! INTERNET/WIFI - Pretty good throughout the resort. A little spotty at the Pool Snack Bar and at the beach. The last day of our vacation Im pretty sure they turned off the wifi throughout the resort intentionally. When one of our group asked about it, they said that it was gone throughout the Dominican (so island wide), so no one anywhere had access. However, people were able to get on if they turned their data on. We had heard a rumour that it would be black on at 9pm. Just before 9pm a bus load of new vacationers arrived and within a few minutes it miraculously came back on. Just beware..... TOWEL GAME - strong at this resort. If you want a lounger, set your alarm for 6:55am - most people go out at 7:00am. If you need an umbrella, go out and hour earlier. Umbrella's are scarce. ROOMS/SUITES - So there are 2 different types of accommodations at the Senator. We travelled with Air Transat and were booked in the "Amber" section. These rooms are much older and dated, but they are very clean. They are more hotels and not like a suite at all. They are extremely small - suitable for 2 people in my opinion. Bathroom is very small as well. I wish I had taken some specific pictures. They are of the older, brown color scheme. I know it's not for the amount of time you spend in your room, but they're not pretty. There were no robes, but there was one pair of slippers. There was an older style coffeemaker and supplies to make coffee. An iron and ironing board were also in the room. You may or may not have an umbrella. The newer "luxury" category rooms are much more modern and have the amenities you would expect. Both categories have limited English channels. There is TCM - older movies, BBC, and 2 CNN channels. Might want to make sure you have some movies/TV shows downloaded on the iPad. One thing that I didn't like is that there are 3 different staff going into your room on a daily basis. One to clean, another to bring the towels and one to re-stock the minifridge. I don't like so many people in and out of my room, not to mention that they all showed up at different times everyday. A couple of time I did meet the guy re-stocking the fridge and he will bring you what ever you want, within reason of course. I told him I needed extra water to make bottles for our baby and he would bring at least 4 bottles a day. Somedays I would leave him a sticky note with what I need and it was always there. BEACH - darker, coarse sand, gets nicer the further you go to the right (towards Playabachata). Punta Cana's Bavaro beach is 100 times nicer. SERVICE - this is where this resort is lacking. This is how you get that 5* rating. We've been to 4* resorts that have stronger service Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of hard workers at this resort. When we booked this resort we requested a crib in the room for our baby. Upon our arrival there is was no crib. I called the front desk and was told someone would be there in a few minutes. I waited 90 minutes and no one showed. I then went to the front desk. They told me someone would bring the crib and I didn't have to wait in my room. We went for dinner - it was now getting close to bed time for baby. Back to our room, still no crib. I again went to the front desk, asked the same lady for the second time about the crib. She could tell I was unhappy. A crib was finally sent after the 4th attempt! There is zero service around the pool. No one comes to take a drink order, unless you are a 'member.' The service at the beach snack bar is soooo slow. Often waiting for over and hour for Mac N Cheese or a Club House & Fries. They got to the point where they wouldn't even take a drink order. Management had mandated you had to go order your own drinks from the bar, they didn't have time to get you your drinks at a sit-down restaurant. The 24 hour sports bar was more of the same. Waits of well over an hour for food. If you get my drift, you can tell that they are extremely understaffed. One of the busiest travel times of the year and they didn't have the staff to support it. Management needs to hire more employees or they will never get to that 5* that they claim to be. ENTERTAIMENT - OK. They tried and they were friendly. Pollo was awesome! I was surprised based on other review that we were never once approached to attend their VIP/Member meeting. Pardon me for saying this, but I feel it's important. One the weekends they let the locals in. It becomes very crowed and they think they own the place. Pair that with the vacationers from a particular Canadian province that is French speaking, you do not stand a chance getting served. The locals and the French have no problem butting in front of you in any line and it seems like the workers allow it for whatever reason. The English/other vacationers are second class. With all that said, would I return? For the right price, yes. That price being under the $750 mark. I would not pay more than that amount to go back. It's not a place that I would tell people they HAVE to check out unlike some other resorts we have been to that I would recommend.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: A wonderful week

Overall the service the food and the hotel in the adults section was excellent. I was fortunate enough to have a butler by the name of Fednon. He was absolutely amazing and made my stay very comfortable. My room was clean and very comfortable. It was tricky to get a bed on the beach, however, there were a lot of beach lounge chairs. Better yet, take advantage of booking while on your flight. Sunwing offered the trips in Canadian dollars (hindsight). Overall a wonderful stay with great weather. I would definitely book here again.

Secrets Cap Cana: Beautiful resort

Had a fabulous week at Secrets Cap Cana. Wilson was our butler and was attentive and very kind. We would definitely recommend him. Great rooms, great pools. Very impressed with the Preferred side of the resort .

The resort was beautiful. Very clean with cheerful staff. The rooms are spacious and clean.The beach was simply breathtaking. The only disappointment was the food . It was not very good, in comparison to other trips we have taken. We were pleased with using tripcentral for booking our vacation. Very organized and helpful.
