Secrets Cap Cana: Did not disappoint!!

Exactly as advertised... Great resort all around. Beach front and water pristine, service was next level, rooms and views were spectacular and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We will be back...

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great vacation

It was a positive surprise! the hotel is small and easy, but well designed. The beach, the pool, the food were very good, really nothing to complain when all that happend on a week with perfect weather. Our first day was December 31 and we were treated with very good party, including life music, dancers and fireworks. We had the Amnesia Junior Suite, very spacious, with good balcony and amenities. The wifi is pretty good around all hotel spaces, including in the room and on the beach. One other think that people may not like much is that the lobby is super small, and has only a shop, but not a bar. The pool bar is basically the only place to have a drink, regardless the time of the day. The buffet food was good, with god service and decent selection, never crowded, and with long working hours. The animation team is very good, they run activities around the pool, the beach and late evening and did an amazing job, given it is the same people. Mama Bee, their boss and MC on all activities is really the key person that makes it all so good. The area outside of the hotel is very safe, pretty and pleasant for walks, including at night, as it is part of gated Playa Dorada area, around the golf course. There were some mosquitoes, but not that much,but bug repellent and AfterBite is good to have with you.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Verry relaxing

Love this adult only hotel very relaxing , no night life just the way i wanted it if we wanted more night life we just had to walks minute to the Palace were theres lots more life snack bars casino kids are welcome the food is verry good and rooms were cleaned everyday new sheets ... staff dont understand much english so we downloaded the translate app wich was fine afterwards .. beach is beatiful ...

Riu Republica: Truly An Amazing Resort!

This resort is unlike anything I have ever seen! The rooms were spacious, very clean and also had liquor dispensers with vodka, rum, gin and whiskey which made this hotel standout from the others! Their breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet food were delicious. As well as their a la carte restaurants, although a bit of a wait some days it was well worth it. There were many pools and pool bars located directly inside of the pool which I found unique! The beach was amazing with a view to die for and the customer service provided at the beach bars were very memorable. There were daily activities on and off of the resort, performances at their theaters, as well as a very entertaining night life, from the night club to the beach parties. It was truly an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Best trip ever!

Lots of fun, volleyball was awesome. Good variety of vegetarian cuisine. Rooms were comfortable. The disco was a lot of fun and the shows were entertaining. We met a lot of people and there were a lot of areas to hang out.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Wasn’t amazing but wasn’t terrible

The grounds were very well kept. Our rooms were cleaned beautifully everyday. Unfortunately our room shower leaked all over the bathroom floor leading into the room and soaked our luggage’s. 3 other people in our group had the same problem. Staff all looked overly miserable. Food was okay, we ate more burgers and fries then we did the buffet food. We noticed there was more locals at the resort then when I’ve travelled other places. Also the resort does not give out wrist band [... read more]s, literally anyone can walk into the resort from the beach. The night light was pretty boring. Although I know this is not the resorts issue, the beach is CROWDED with sellers. Every few minutes someone would walk up to us asking to sell something, it got quite annoying. I’ve never experienced this much annoyance on vacation before.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Very nice place - service a bit of a let down

overall the Senator is good. the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. the pools, beach and common areas are also top notch. the food is ok. if you go with that expectation you won't be disappointed. there are two levels of rooms. very recently renovated (buildings 1, 2, 3) and rooms that are probably 20 years old. if you care about design its worth the upgrade to the newer rooms. really the only let down with this place is the service. some of the staff are great.  [... read more]most try hard to be fair. the bigger issue seems to be from the top. they have rules in place that are either worthless and the staff won't be willing to budge or worthwhile and the staff sometimes seem willing to budge. can't take food away from the sports bar for example, which is silly. my kids kept wanting chicken fingers by the pool and I felt like I was smuggling contraband to them. you can only book the a la carte restaurants for same day and you have to line up at the front desk. they start taking reservations at 8:30am. most times they are full and will let you book a day in advance. one time when I lined up and finally reached the front I was told there were no reservations available for the next two days. I asked if i could book three days out and I was told that is against their policy. My mom went by the desk a few hours later (after the booking window had closed) and they let her book something 3 days out. this is why it's so hard to get a reservation. they will book depending on their mood. overall the place is very nice. if you go with the attitute that the food is decent (and abundant) and don't expect too much or speedy service, you won't be disappointed. if you can afford the upgrade to the nicer rooms it's worth it. they are 100X nicer. they are actually posh very the other rooms which are semi crummy.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: An amazing time!

I would recommend this resort. Cannot thank the friendly staff at the bar, sports bar, buffet, and the pool bar enough! Rooms very clean! Excellent variety of food! The animation team were always entertaining and interactive with the young and old! Always a smile from staff members!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Excellent resort!

This is the second time we visit the Fantasia, and we had a really good time as the previous time. There are however a few changes since the last time, and I will focus on those. The first change is that now it is not a "Luxury" resort like the last time (it was just open at the time, so that is probably why they gave it that denomination), and with that we thought we had lost some of the benefits, like being able to dine in the restaurants of the Esmeralda, and the Ambar. This is however not th [... read more]e case, as they seem to have been able to book us there this time also, even though the time they gave us was not as convenient: 9:15 PM for dinner with the kids was a bit too late after a long day full of activities in the sun. The booking of meals is still troublesome, as even though we sent emails in advance of our visit, we still got some inconvenient times, and not all that we wanted, and making changes is almost impossible, as they have to be approved by each restaurant. The other change is that a few things seem to be falling through the cracks, like the game consoles in the teen club, that do not have controllers anymore (but the kids club does have a Nintendo game console for them to have some screen time if you want them to), or the pool table not having proper cue sticks anymore. Those are just minor details, the hotel is still in top shape overall. The other interesting thing is that the Esmeralda opened their own Water Park, which is somewhat smaller than the one in Fantasia, but still a good variations, the kids went back and forth between the two (something that I believe you cannot do if you stay in the Esmeralda). The other thing we did a lot was play volleyball in the court by the sea, it seemed to be very popular, at times there were 6 teams, so the wait was long, but most of the time it was just 3 teams, so we had plenty of opportunity to play. There is also a court in the Fantasia by the gym, but it was usually empty, so we just played 1-1 or 2-2. Also, the gym is still great, with some new equipment, one of the best features of this resort if you are into that. Finally, the shows are fantastic, and it is a huge benefit to have a theater within the Fantasia, just be mindful that they are at 9 PM, so plan your meals accordingly.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Decent resort

The hotel was nicely decorated for the holiday season and the grounds were well looked after. The room itself was average. The bed was too soft, poor lighting and the toilets didnt flush well (ours got clogged but was promptly looked after). Unfortunately, our room was close to the theater. It was way too loud, and we got woken up several nights with drunken people walking back from the bar (likely related to the time we went as a lot of students were there). It would be nice to have more  [... read more]places that offer coffee in the morning. There was only one place at the buffet. The food was excellent on New Years but otherwise decent - could have been hotter. It also would have been nice to be able to reserve the restaurants more than once in our week stay. Nelson was an excellent server, he took good care of us. The pool activities were fun with energetic staff.

Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio: Beautiful spot!

The layout of this resort is great. We loved the side we were on we were in room 1120 on the adults only side. The food was just good nothing to rave about. The burgers at the 24hour snack bar were always delicious tho and hand made! Buffet by the Mexican restaurant is better then the ocean front one, there is more variety. Service was great for the most part. We enjoyed the beach the water and white sand was great. The swim up room was great we used our pool everyday! We definitely enjoyed ourselves but definitely would rate this more of a 4 star.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fabulous resort!

The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was top notch. They were very proud of the resort and rightfully so. The food was good, the pools amazing, and service outstanding. Our rooms were clean and spacious, with a large balcony.

Cayo Levantado Resort: superb resort

Occidental Caribe: Great Getaway

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a 9 day vacation and it was great. Although the room was a bit dated it was everything we needed in our room, not that we spent much time there anyway. The pools were great and the beach was perfect. There were so many chairs that you were never fighting to find a spot on the beach or by the pool at any time through the day and there were always activities going on. The staff was always friendly and were very respectful. These staff members made the trip memorable. The food at the buffet was fairly standard although the fruit was always fresh and tasted great. The a la cart restaurants were great (especially the French and Italian - they were fantastic) and the pizza at lunch was a great staple. The only other thing was that, given the hotel was crazy busy over the holidays it wasnt as easy to find a table at the buffet and when you did it may still have dirty plates on it or no utensils but once servers saw you were going to sit down they made their best efforts to clean it up for you as quickly as possible. All in all we had a great experience and would definately consider returning again.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Good family resort!

Loved the sand, beach, pools, restaurants, lobby area, shows, activities. Kids could not have enough of it! Nice size hotel. Not too big but just big enough to have lots of amenities, bar, restaurants. Especially loved by all the ice cream and coffee shop. Donuts, ice cream and coffee were amazing !! Disappointed by the state of the slides and the pool beside it. It needs work. Kids still enjoyed it. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana: Luxurious Resort

Best overall experience we've ever had at all inclusive resort. All details have been well thought through. All facilities (gym, pool, tennis etc) are 1st class. Restaurants and food quality overall is excellent. Staff is very service dedicated, extremely friendly and motivated to make you feel welcome and well taken care.

Riu Republica: Great resort

The entertainment was awesome, the had a different show each night, Fun games during the day, and themed parties throughout the week. It was Lots of fun, and I will definitely be back. The entertainment team was awesome

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: Beautiful New Resort

It was such a privilege visiting the Hyatt Zilara, everything was so new and fresh and you could see they were trying really hard to please all guests. If you like a polished more upscale resort, you will enjoy this destination very much.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Dreams

The property is pristine. It is not a large property therefore easy to get to all amenities. The food was Ok always something to eat. The restaurant were a nice change but not anymore tasty than the buffet. The staff are friendly and willing to please.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Beautiful and relaxing gem

From the moment we arrived our stay was relaxing. Our rooms were ready (earlier than stated check in time). The staff and porters all smiling and welcoming. My husband and I travelled with our two daughters to spend New Years in a beautiful relaxing oasis and to say goodbye to a year best forgotten (2019). And that is exactly what we got. We loved the showers with the big rain heads and beautifully tiled floors and walls. The public bathrooms were also very beautiful with carved rock sinks and beautiful local marble tiles. We liked going to the buffet for each meal as opposed to the a la carte restaurants. The wait staff were quick and attentive. There was a large variety of good quality food choices that were varied each night. We tried the Fusion restaurant one night, and while delicious and presented beautifully, we did not want to spend a long time at dinner and preferred to sit around the lobby/bar area and listen to the local talent sipping cocktails and chatting with the friendly and entertaining animation crew or other guests. While the pool area was stunning and welcoming, we ended up spending all of our time down by the beautiful and clean beach. You could walk a long way each direction. We had a blast boogie boarding and playing volleyball. The beach staff from the animation crew to the bartenders were always friendly and smiling. They seemed very happy to be there and enjoyed their jobs along with the guests. We found beach chairs every day but the ever present towel on chairs with nobody in sight was an issue here as it seems to be in every resort. LOVED that the towels did not require towel cards and that we could use as many as we wanted. What a refreshing idea! There were a few animation crew that made our stay especially fun and comfortable. Honourable mention for Miguel Jordan and Adolfo! They just made the trip so fun and cheery. There were others that also stood out but I do not remember their names. The grounds were very beautiful with a large variety of exotic and flowering plants, and extremely well maintained. This resort is not necessarily about the night life as it quieted down fairly quickly and the disco was on the beach so you could not hear it past 10pm. News Years eve on the other hand was extremely well done with an incredible banquet dinner followed by a crazy party by the pool. No expense was spared and food included lobster, any kind of seafood you could want, elaborate dishes and decorations. The party had a light and sound show to rival any I have seen. The staff worked very hard to ensure everyone had a blast. The next morning, the resort was pristine again. I cannot imagine how much work it took to recover the serene beauty of the grounds after such a big party. Bravo Viva Wyndham V Samana!
