El Dorado Seaside Suites: A great resort
The rooms are amazing. I absolutely loved the shower and bed. The resort could add some more Bali beds as there is not to many. I would also suggest adding some sort of foam to the sun loungers because it was uncomfortable to lay on them. The beach was not to great it had a lot of rocks.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: LBP Sian Ka'an was GREAT.
Many thanks to TripCentral agent Melissa Alexander for her assistance.
Our room was located EXACTLY where I requested. We were in suite 41924 which offered as much privacy as is available at this resort when in the rooftop jacuzzi..
Bahia Principe has 4 resorts at this location (Acumal, Tulum, Coba, and Sian Ka'an)
The first 4 in 41924 indicates Sian Ka'an
The 19 in 41924 indicates building 19
The 2 in 41924 indicates suite 2 on a particular level - 41914, 41924, 41934 and 419[... read more]44 are on the same level
Two suites on each level have a view facing away from the resort (towards the golf course) and these are the most private
The last 4 in 41924 indicates the third level (for some reason the ground level is indicated by a 2 (41912, 41922, 41932 and 41942)
The shuttle service connecting Acumal, Tulum, Coba, and Sian Ka'an is EXCELLENT. There is even a direct, non stop, from the Sian Ka'an lobby to the Sian Ka'an private adults only beach.
All Sian Ka'an buildings have 4 suites on each of 3 levels = 12 per building.
Many but not all Sian Ka'an buildings have 8 Jacuzzi tubs per building
- 4 on the grass (termed Superior Junior Suite Gardenview)
- 4 on the roof above the suite (termed Superior Penthouse Junior Suite)
- 0 on the second level (termed Superior Junior Suite)
Other Sian Ka'an buildings have 0 Jacuzzi tubs. These are the only building with the smaller Junior Suites (some must be non-superior :o)
I will write more in my review to other travellers but for now I can sum up my overall impression of Sian Ka'an as AWESOME which, unlike many people, is a word I reserve for something which inspires awe.
The main components which set me on my heels were:
- The food in the Sian Ka'an buffet and even the 24 hour Sian Ka'an snack area (exceeded ALL expectations)
- The cocktails prepared and served in the lobby (fabulous)
- The wait staff (impeccable)
- The beach and swim area (although it receives mixed reviews from others)

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Food was not bad but resort is overcrowded with 3000 guests and poor service
grounds were well kept, hotel looks very nice, pools, beaches all good. service sucked very badly in all locations, reception, dining , drinks etc... Hotel management couldnt care less, they are full up with unsuspecting tourists who they may never see again and are relying on volume. We are like cattle. Very few could speak proper english so difficult to communicate (and I speak a little spanish so you can imagine). food was abundant but variety never strayed from norm. a la cartes were fully[... read more] booked from the moment we arrived and all we could get were 9pm and 10pm slots with three young children. almost 2 hour commute from airport to this resort. have to wait for shuttles all day long to get to rooms or buffet.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Family fun
The hotel and its surroundings were beautiful. We fed wild monkeys and saw lots of different animals. Having the Xcaret Park so easily accessible was great. The only negatives were not a lot of entertainment for the kids and the food was never hot just warm

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Sian kaan
Was nice, not as luxurious as I would expect for an adults only at the price point. Great tram service to get between resorts. More shade would be beneficial around the pool areas. Entertainment was excellent .

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing Food and Service
This hotel exceeded our expectations. Check-in was smooth and very welcoming. Our room was beautiful, well maintained, and extremely comfortable. The Hideaway pool and Hideaway Beach Bar staff were so friendly and went over and above with their great service.
Room service was an excellent option for us. I will recommend to pre-order room service the night before as you can book for a specific delivery time; orders can take up to an hour for delivery if not pre-ordered. The food is delightful.[... read more]
The staff took the opportunity to impress us when we had a complaint. The ATMs had been removed from the hotel prior to our arrival. We wanted some cash on hand for tips but there was no way to get cash without ATMs around. After asking a few times about ATMs, and realizing that the replacement ATMs wouldn’t be delivered any time soon, the staff helped us by letting us use a local ATM designated for the staff use. This solved our issue as we then had cash to hold us over until the ATMs were put back in service.
Note: guest ATMs dispense USD and you can break into smaller bills at the hotel front desk.
The food was very impressive. Delicious, exciting, and served with a smile. We especially enjoyed the Hunter Steakhouse. There is typically a waiting list to get a table so check-in to the restaurant early, request a table, and then enjoy a drink and entertainment until you get called for your table. This seemed to be an issue for some guests but I think the no-reservation rule is the best way to go - guests all have a fair chance to enjoy the food at each restaurant - It’s WELL worth the wait!
Overall this hotel was everything we hoped for and more. With a beautiful beach, plenty of pools, entertainment, shows, games, and so much food, there’s definitely something for everyone.
We will be back to this hotel soon!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Vraiment sympathique
Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Bahia Principe Akumal has set the bar high for my future Mayan Riviera vacations!
This resort is great for families, couples and big groups. We were in a large 30-some group for a wedding and they were always accommodating to our needs. My brother has a severe allergy to all dairy products and they were more than accommodating to that as well.
The resort is well-maintained, clean and fun!! The pools are large and inviting, the ocean is great for swimming and lounging, and there is a bar within sight from anywhere on the resort. There is a new “adults only†section whi[... read more]ch has a BEAUTIFUL infinity pool overlooking the ocean. It was one of my favourite things on the resort. It has its own bar, buffet, bathrooms and you can always find a chair near the pool.
The service at this resort is top-notch. There is always someone asking for your drink order wherever you are on the resort. The room service is great as well.
Another great thing about this resort is the FOOD. The food is amazing!! Everything was so tasty, a huge variety to choose from. I was honestly blown away by the high standards of this resort.
My ONLY complaint about this entire experience is that our rooms were quite damp because of the humid climate. The room had a musty-ish smell because of it. It also made sleeping a little uncomfortable at first.
Thank you to everyone at BahÃa Principe who made our Mayan Riviera trip absolutely unforgettable. I will definitely return!

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful Large Resort
Great resort. Great staff. Very large and a bit overwhelming at first. Beach has tons of seaweed and sharp stones and slope to get in, but then mostly sandbars. Food was geeat but Buffet at dinner can be too busy. Hard to get ‘a la carte’ reservations. Rooms very spacious and nice. Large balconys. Very quiet rooms and resort at night. Shuttle runs regularly. One bad incident when my bed pillowcases had been made up with dirty pillowcases that stunk of urine. I called the desk and within an[... read more] hour all bedding including pillows was replaced.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Beautiful resort with amazing staff!
My husband & I spent a week long vacation at the Azul 5 beginning on Easter weekend. It was our second time at the resort. We stayed there last year for a family wedding and enjoyed the resort so much that we decided to return this year.
The care and concern of the staff for their guests was apparent from the moment that we arrived at the resort. Our room was upgraded to a pool view suite by Front Desk staff at no additional cost when they saw that my husband was unwell on our arrival. [... read more]The suite was available to us immediately while the room that we were assigned would not be ready for several hours. My husband greatly appreciated their consideration.
The resort itself is beautiful. It is very well laid out with gardens, pools and meandering "rivers" spread throughout the property. There is even a lovely boardwalk trail through a mangrove swamp on the property with spider monkeys, coati and a wild pig inhabiting it.
As for restaurants, there are several to choose from with something to suit every taste. You can choose from beach fare (including tacos, burgers & empanadas) to French bistro, Thai, Japanese, Italian, Mediterranean.... or a buffet style restaurant where the cuisine changed daily according to the featured country for that day.
The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. The beds have pillow top mattresses. The showers are very large. The kitchen had a stocked refrigerator and a coffee pot for making your morning "cuppa" before heading out to the breakfast buffet.
The pools are beautiful with plenty of lounges and umbrellas and well-stocked pool side bars.
And last, but definitely not least, we would like to say that the staff at the Azul 5 are terrific! They are constantly working, whether on grounds keeping or house keeping or serving tables & bar service... they are always busy! And they are always smiling & polite with a friendly "hola" when passing by. Without such a good staff the resort would not be as pleasant and well maintained.
In summary, most definitely we would return to the Azul 5 for a third vacation and we have already recommended the resort to family, friends and co-workers!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Awesome resort
I truly enjoyed my stay at the blue bay. Food was awesome and the views from the rooms were amazing. I was a little disappointed with the beach and amount of seaweed, but the pools made up for not being able to swim in the ocean. Overall I had an awesome first trip to Mexico T

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: A very unique experience!
I visited Hotel Xcaret with my husband and 4 year old son from March 25 – April 3.
We booked Garden View room and emailed the hotel 2 weeks in advance to request something quiet and on the 5th flr. We were very lucky to have Viviana from the hotel email us back and help us arrange the airport shuttle, Xin Gao reservation and she said she would try her best to accommodate our room request.
We arrived to find out we were placed in Casa Tierra with a wonderful quiet view of the jungle and p[... read more]artial ocean view! It was perfect. Viviana even emailed us the next day to ask if we were happy with the room. I was able to meet her and she was so lovely and happy to help with anything we needed. She genuinely wanted to ensure we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
I have stayed in many all-inclusive resorts and would always find myself getting a bit bored by the same trek to the pool or beach or buffet. But the multiple pools, suspension bridges, lagoons, the beach and then access to the parks made every day feel different and we were not ready to leave. We tried all the restaurants, including the Cave buffet that can be hard (but fun!) to find. We just didn’t try the dinner theatre. We were really happy with the food and service. I’ve never enjoyed steak at all-inclusives before like at this place. And the same can be said with the sushi. I’m from Vancouver where we have some of the best sushi and we weren’t disappointed with Xin Gao. (I can’t believe I’m even writing that!).
The buffet selection is smaller as some have said, but I personally prefer that. The quality is just so much better than the trough-like buffets at other resorts. Other resorts try to change things up by having “Italian Nightâ€, “Asian Night†etc., but then never do those themes justice.
It’s true that Hotel Xcaret does not have a lot of entertainment, but we also preferred the more chill vibe. No annoying, loud pounding music at the pool. Instead all pool areas had tasteful Mexican or Classical music playing in the background.
There would be convenient carts set up throughout the day near the main infinity pool with fresh fruit, juice, or coffee and cookies in the lobby. Sometimes they would serve peel & eat shrimp.
The lagoons were wonderful for kids given how calm the water is and the hotel created them to have a shallow section that is perfect for little kids given the open ocean can be rough at times. Although there are no loungers right on the beach, the hotel still provides drink service. I was so pleasantly surprised to see servers trekking along the beach taking orders.
The hotel is spotless, and I barely saw any bugs. There is no food service at the pool, so you do have to get up and go to a restaurant for lunch. Would recommend bringing some Tupperware to bring back food to your pool chair if you want. But by not having food service at the pool is does help to keep the place clean and the bugs and birds away.
Other great conveniences included the wrist band that was your key to the room, life jackets of all sizes for the lagoon and kids pool. And no towel cards. Carts with towels were available at all water areas. It made it so easy to move from one pool/lagoon to another.
I typically don’t like to visit the same place twice, but I would definitely visit this place again. Especially given the convenient access to the various parks that are included for day trips. Unfortunately I’m not sure if we’ll be able to afford this place next year as the prices look like they are almost double, but I will be checking! Amazing service, food and design. I feel so lucky to have been able to experience the hotel.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great resort, beach disappointing
The resort was great, a la carte fantastic, beach disappointing. Great for snorkelling. For swimming or long walk on the beach, not recommended. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. SPA technicians were great. Very large resort. I would not return due to the beach. However, for some that prefer snorkelling, it is an excellent spot for sea turtles.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beautiful resort/ not a great beach
This resort was beautiful. It was clean, food was good, live music was good. The beach was not great. There was a lot of sea weed on the beach and in the water. The beach was washed away in some spots making it hard to go for a long walk on the beach. Pool areas were nice. The resort itself ( rooms, service, gardens, pools) is great the only down side is the beach.
