Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort

The best thing about this resort was the people. They were so friendly and personable and is the main reason why we would return. With their humour they made the resort a fun place to be. You could join in with the many activities or sit by the pool and watch... both were fun. The food was excellent with lots to choose from at the buffet. We also tried all 3 'a la cart' restaurants and the food was really good. I wouldn't miss any of these when we go there again. Rooms were very clean, bed was comfortable, lots of hot water for showers, and the air conditioning worked very well. No complaints at all regarding the rooms. We took our universal plugins and our cell phones and iPads charged well. The blow dryer in the room worked well. Only wished a hair straightener could work there... will have to buy a European one maybe. The pool area and the pool were well maintained. Washrooms off the pool area were kept extremely clean with an attendance present at all times cleaning continuously. It was a pleasure to tip this person who, I'm sure, doesn't get many tips. :) Speaking of tips, a coin here and there is much appreciated. And those you tip will always remember you. Only one day were we inundated with mosquitos. It was a day of no breeze and lots of rain so that may account for some of it. Once they sprayed :( it was better. The lobby bar was the place to be when it rained as they had games to play if you wanted, or you could sit and drink and enjoy the company of others. We also enjoyed the variety of live entertainment in the lobby bar each evening until the nightly show began. We will definitely return to this resort and would highly recommend it. And it's so close to the airport... bonus! The Westjet Vacations people treated us very well and made sure we got to and from the resort.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Nice resort very historic

grounds and public areas were well maintained. washrooms could use some repairs. buffet was well organized. (example: all food was labeled) Staff was very friendly and the entertainment was excellent.

My wife and I needed a relaxing, no pressure resort with beautiful surroundings and happy, pleasant employees to provide services when needed. Although we had heard about food not being great, we were never at a loss to enjoy our choices.

Hotel Vigia: Awesome Secret Gem

Totally relaxed, very friendly atmosphere. The new chef is making awesome creative changes to the menu. Best staff ever!. Please hurry and get the beach bar open. Chef Juri is the best. So incredibly personable and creative with his creations. He should have his own featured cooking station. Bring him back to operate the beach barbecue or his own alacatre restaurant. Will definitely return again and again. It just keeps getting better

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: value for money

first cuba trip; Airport: This is a small airport, so going through security and picking up our baggage was fast and very easy. Room: Extremely clean. Our maid was wonderful, with thoughtful and creative towel art. If we were lacking anything, our maid made sure that we received it. We had an ocean view in building 1. It was very quiet and very convenient. Pool: This is the first resort we have been to where getting a chair was never a problem. We would sit beside the pool with the pool bar each day. At night, the staff would stack all chairs and as you came down to the pool in the morning, two staff members would happily pull out the chairs and set them up where you wanted to sit for the day. We found the pools very clean. Our only criticism is that there should be an adult only pool, as there were many, many young children at this resort. We found the pool clean. The gardens were well kept with beautiful flowers. Coffee bar: EXCELLENT. The service and atmosphere is lovely. The coffee in the main buffet in the mornings was not that great, but the coffee in the coffee bar and speciality coffees were excellent. The waiters/waitresses quickly took your orders. Staff: EXCELLENT. So happy, so friendly. Management was extremely visible, and engaging, wanting to know how the resort experience could be improved upon. The management staff even came onto the bus the last morning upon departure to bid us farewell. Tipping: Service did not seem to differ with tipping or without. Unfortunately, the staff cannot use Canadian coins, so tipping $5 is rather steep. You can exchange your Canadian $$ in the main lobby for pesos.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great Value

The staff make the resort. Very personable. The Tryp has a friendly, intimate feel. Good food. Clean A lively place but if one prefers there is a quiet pool and quiet rooms away from the activities. I spoke to many return guests, and I can see why.

Amazing resort. Exceptionally clean. Great staff. Pools are great. They have a lot of activities around it. Beach is only a 3 star. Lots of sharp coral. You need to wind your way around it to get in water in some places. Diamond Club beach is a bit better. Overall I would go back in a minute.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great location. Had fun. Do not overpay

We new by previous reviews the resort was in need of renovations, which are currently being done. So I had no surprises or expectations of greatness, especially in the rooms. Therefore I enjoyed myself very much. The beach is wonderful especially when tide goes out. You gain about 30 feet of width of the beach. The swim up bar is fun and pool water is warm. The staff are a [... read more]lways pleasant and you don't feel like they are waiting for a tip to give good service. Don't forget to take some money to the swim up bar. Poor guys work hard and people never seem to think of taking a few pesos with them. The daytime is very active with people drinking and having fun. The evening of out first week was a little dissapointing as not much was goiing on. The second week they seemed to pump up the fun with a pool party. On Friday night a gUy comes and sings and plays guitar and it is lots of fun to sing and dance. But they need more of that. Seem to rely on the show for all the evening entertainment and then the disco. Which is really for the younger one. They have people playing musical instruments in lobby at night which is nice. The drinks are good, but they sometimes run out of glasses they need to make the right drink, like Spanish coffees. But you get over it and have it in a smaller cup. I would go back for a last minute cheap holiday. My husband would not. We went with 10 people and most would not return as sit has been allowed to get to run down over the years. Not enough was done to maintain it. My son is 26 and was bored, not enough activities, unless your main goal is to drink. I can't recommend this resort, but at the same time I would go back. Go figure...

Hotel Playa Coco: Perfect resort for me and my family

Everything was perfect! Beach, food, grounds, people, entertainment, room, services. My family was treated very well and we had the best time ever. First time in Cuba or down south for that matter. We will return again. Also we got a great deal through trip central. Thank you very much for it all.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Incredible people

The hotel is clean, the food is good and the personnel is just amazing. The plumbing systems in the rooms may need to be taking care of though but I believe this is a common challenge in Cuba. The beach is natural just like I preferred.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Amazing resort

My daughter and I stayed at Pestana resort last week of November, and we loved it. Resort was perfect for us, friendly staff, very clean rooms, pool was amazing and oh the beach, soooo beautiful...food was good, no one will ever go hungry there...we made a lot of friends there ,and look forward to returning in spring..

Tryp Cayo Coco: Maybe someplace new next time.

I noticed immediately that the ownership has changed and the hotel is less up to standard than previously. They also gave no acknowledgement of return guests as the previous owners did. This was my forth trip there but I'll look for another resort in Cayo Coco now. The staff are still very good & the food was quite o.k. if you enjoy fish as I do. You would never go hungry. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great place

Food pretty good. Decent variety for Cuba. Plenty of hot water. Room was clean and comfortable. It is a 3 star place so you have to have realistic expectations. But all in all it is great value. Service staff is great just not enough of them at key times.

My partner and I just got back from Memories Flamenco Beach resort in Cayo Coco, Cuba, we went with some friends from Ottawa and I would say overall that this resort is above average compared to other Cuban resorts we have been to. We have vacationed at 4 star, 4.5 star and 5 stars throughout Cuba (Varedero, Holguin, Cayo Santa Maria, Camaguay) and in our opinion this resort would fall into a 4.5 star Category. You know before going to  [... read more]Cuba that the food is average, the beaches are beautiful, the weather is unpredictable, the drinks are flowing and your value for what you pay compared to other destinations is pretty good. Saying that everyone has there own quirks that can make or break their experience. There were a few minor issues that happened but nothing to ruin the week, deal with things and move forward, find a silver lining. The one issue was the resort was having problems their water supply lines, not sure what it was but on a few occasions the tap water was not available so you make do, we used bottled water to brush our teeth and used the hand held shower nozzle to fill up the toilet tank and flush. The staff at this resort was like others we have been to, very nice and they seemed eager to please. The staff was not looking for tips but when they did receive money or other items they were very thankful. The food at the buffet, al la cartes and 24 hour bar/grill was adequate; I find like any buffet the food can get repetitive but not enough to ruin the trip. The buffet was very clean, the wait for fresh grilled anything was not to bad, it varied from 1 min to 10 min. We always bring "Franks red-hot sauce" to add some flavour to some dishes. The resort offers 3 a la cartes; Mediterranean, Cuban and Asian. The Mediterranean, Cuban was really good. The service and food was great. The Asian was just okay, Service was good but the food was again just okay. (may I suggest installing cooking grills and cook the food in an open atmosphere. The 24 hour grill/bar was good for late night snacks or as an alternative to the buffet for lunch or dinner. They had 2 open grills where they offered pork and chicken daily with rice and local vegetables (just make sure pork and chicken is cooked well) The resort had 2 pools an upper and lower pool. The pools were kept very clean, the lower pool had a swim up bar and the drinks flowed very well from there all week. Azis was the bartender that stood out and never failed to make a great lemonade and dark rum bevy. The pool did get a little busy at times as the beach was not your typical Cuban beach so I think more people hung around the pool than normal. The beach has a lot of corral and we new this by reading the reviews before we went. When you walk down the path to the beach you have the option to walk straight out onto a small pier, turn left and walk along a boardwalk that goes over the corral or turn right and walk on to the beach. The beach was small and not as nice as any toher beach we have been to but we knew this before we went so not a big deal. There is a beach about 10 min by bus if your looking for the the beaches that Cuba is known for. The silver lining here was that the snorkeling was great right off the beach. I would recommend this resort, overall it was a great vacation and the staff at this resort helped to make that happen. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: everything is very nice except the cuisine

I have travelled Cuba quite a bit, understand the problems getting certain items in but having been to other resorts, this place is awful in the food services, all else is fine, but will not return here for that reason, no fresh fruits, veggies, very limited entrees brutal OJ,[watered down, seriously Noellia?] Improve the food, I'll come back! till then back to Costa Verde.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Awesome Trip

Travelled to TRYP Cayo Coco Nov.14 to 21 with my friend. Haven't been to Cuba in 8 years - first impression of this place the night we arrived was terrible. No help with luggage to our room, couldn't find out building number as it was dark, lugged our bags up 3 floors in the pitch dark. Room was not that great...(mind you I'm used to Mexico and DR 4 stars)....dropped our stuff off and went back to desk to ask for a room change. The pool was great and the ocean - beautiful. The beach is quite "short" as the tide is in mostly all day, but still enough room to lay out. We just had so much fun. Met great people. Food was pretty decent. The only issue i had was the buffett hours...breakfast was 7-10AM and then lunch didn't start until 130! so if you missed breakfast or ate really early, you were starving. Yes, they have a beach restaurant, but a lot of time, it was too packed for a table and even if you got one, you were waiting for service for quite some time. The times we did eat in the buffet for dinner and lunch were reeally good...awesome pizza that you can have made to order, past bar, sushi, etc. Really good! They are in the process of renovating/updating this resort, but you have to remember it's Cuba. They dont' have the money or resources that other countries do, but they're trying. Nothing's been done in 17 years here. I would definitley return though!

Hotel Camino del Mar: Exceeded expectations

This was our first trip to Cuba -- glad we kicked things off with a resort that exceeded expectations. Excellent ratio of staff to guests; the standard of service was very high, and no request seemed to go unfulfilled (though to be fair, we're not very demanding guests). The location is excellent, provided you're not expecting night life or shopping, since Cayo Guillermo is quite isolated. Even the inshore snorkeling is pretty good -- warm, crystal clear, and shallow -- and I spent hours each day in the water and couldn't have been happier. Food was also better than expected; regular guests told us the food has improved significantly in the last several months, and we were certainly quite satisfied. The a la carte restaurants weren't qualitatively very different from the buffet, though the formal dining experience was a nice change of pace. Great stay overall!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing trip!

Overall the resort was really nice! Great food & drinks, also excellent hospitality. Got to know a few of the waiters quite well and had a blast with them! Grounds were fairly big which kinda would have been nicer if it was smaller but by the end of the week we enjoyed walking a lot. Rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels and water. My favourite part was probably the beach! It was truly breathtaking, especially when the tide went out! You could walk for miles. Would stay here again!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Worst Vacation Yet

This was our Fourth trip to Cuba. The resort was small which we liked. However the beach was a mess of seaweed and was never cleaned. In our room the TV didn't work and it took four requests to get it fixed. The inside door handle came off every time we opened the door and it never got fixed. The sand fleas nearly destroyed my legs and I am still suffering after arriving home. The buffet was poorly organized and the service was horrific. The Sunquest rep was useless and appeared more interested in eating than providing help. Also it was too difficult to change money. Cuba needs to improve its quality or drop its prices.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best bang for your buck!

This is a fantastic resort with an amazing staff that want only to make sure that your visit is special. Food is great, beach is rocky in spots but otherwise very nice. Pools are nice and a fun spot to hang out.
