Paradisus Varadero: worth every penny

we chose to use the "Royal Service". the first amazing surprise was at the Veradero airport we got our own taxi to the resort rather than sharing the bus. room service to the room was great. Hang the tag on the door and they deliver breakfast at a time you chose. the bar and the pool and the a la cart restaurant were all great. they were for royal service guests only. since we went in early December they were not at capacity and there was no waiting for anything. the room was big. king size bed  [... read more]on request. an outdoor shower was exotic and romantic. large Jacuzzi tub was welcome. around the pool were "beds" with canopies. not enough but they were great when you got one. hammocks hanging in the trees. A lovely long walkway to the ocean directly from the pool. maybe a 1 minute walk to the ocean. the only let down was the beach in the royal service area was all rock. but the main beach was white sand. I was a little disappointed in the beach. I wasn't expecting so many rocks. lots of white white sand though. food was okay. the beef was not good. but lots of chicken, seafood and vegetarian options. the Mexican a la carte restaurant was the best. it was a restful quiet 5 days away. no one asking for money on the beach. not commercialized at all. great friendly staff. they wanted everything to be perfect and they checked often to make sure you were happy. I would go back in a second!!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort but ...

The rooms were clean and nice and the food was really, really good. Nice array of drinks as well. Beach was long enough to have a good walk but near the hotel it was hard to get out far enough to swim as lots of rocks, coral, etc. further along the beach swimming was much better. The resort itself is beautiful with stunning views. Night life so so. Usual dance shows and early entertainment in the lobby. They really need to add more dancing music at night, other than Cuban and perhaps karaoke or something as you pretty well have to make your own entertainment after 10 pm. The spa was great but massages too expensive for Cuba given that the CUC is on par with American dollars. The spa was never busy and that's probably why. I had an massage and it was great. The private beach at the spa is great as well. Then water for showering is hard and has a lot of Chemicals in it and very hard on the hair so if you have colour in your hair beware. Also, Internet sporadic at best, only available in the lobby and expensive (this may be different at the Royal suites) Staff were great and very accommodating. If I went again I'd stay in the royal suites end.

Hotel Vigia: Awesome Secret Gem

Totally relaxed, very friendly atmosphere. The new chef is making awesome creative changes to the menu. Best staff ever!. Please hurry and get the beach bar open. Chef Juri is the best. So incredibly personable and creative with his creations. He should have his own featured cooking station. Bring him back to operate the beach barbecue or his own alacatre restaurant. Will definitely return again and again. It just keeps getting better

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Should be 3 or 4 stars at the most

Rooms are not sound proof so if someone walks by your door talking you can hear everything. Public bathrooms were usually dirty and run down. They definitely need an upgrade. The service was great and very friendly! The food was excellent with lots of different choices. The Japanese restaurant was our favorite!

Melia Las Dunas: Satisfactory.....needs a facelift

I found the resort too large for my liking. The bathrooms are in major need of updating. The adult pool was very nice. The food was good for Cuba standards. The staff for the most part were very friendly and accommodating. I found you had to "ask' for items especially at the A la cartes....had to ask for guacamole, had to ask for margarita, had to ask for sake, had to ask.....these things should be offered.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great Value

The staff make the resort. Very personable. The Tryp has a friendly, intimate feel. Good food. Clean A lively place but if one prefers there is a quiet pool and quiet rooms away from the activities. I spoke to many return guests, and I can see why.

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful resort

The resort was beautiful. The grounds were landscaped beautifully with gardeners out everyday. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool and the beach were amazing. The food I would rate as poor. The food was not hot and was sometimes not cooked well enough. Overall I would recommend this resort to someone who wants to get away from it all and to relax on a beach and who is not really interested in eating that much.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great location. Had fun. Do not overpay

We new by previous reviews the resort was in need of renovations, which are currently being done. So I had no surprises or expectations of greatness, especially in the rooms. Therefore I enjoyed myself very much. The beach is wonderful especially when tide goes out. You gain about 30 feet of width of the beach. The swim up bar is fun and pool water is warm. The staff are a [... read more]lways pleasant and you don't feel like they are waiting for a tip to give good service. Don't forget to take some money to the swim up bar. Poor guys work hard and people never seem to think of taking a few pesos with them. The daytime is very active with people drinking and having fun. The evening of out first week was a little dissapointing as not much was goiing on. The second week they seemed to pump up the fun with a pool party. On Friday night a gUy comes and sings and plays guitar and it is lots of fun to sing and dance. But they need more of that. Seem to rely on the show for all the evening entertainment and then the disco. Which is really for the younger one. They have people playing musical instruments in lobby at night which is nice. The drinks are good, but they sometimes run out of glasses they need to make the right drink, like Spanish coffees. But you get over it and have it in a smaller cup. I would go back for a last minute cheap holiday. My husband would not. We went with 10 people and most would not return as sit has been allowed to get to run down over the years. Not enough was done to maintain it. My son is 26 and was bored, not enough activities, unless your main goal is to drink. I can't recommend this resort, but at the same time I would go back. Go figure...

Melia Las Dunas: Almost amazing!

- need more 24hr restaurants - food was ok, always ask for well done or your food will be raw - tiny, minuscule ants in the washroom of our room - most of the staff was friendly and terrific (Yunel at the buffet, Lazara at the pizzeria, Roberto at the lobby bar, and most of the gardeners ant fantastic) - entertainment could be better - grounds are beautiful (clean and well kept) - need a power adapter (no one told us this before going) - far bus ride to the resort from the airport

Sol Varadero Beach: good resort

Hotel was good for the value...met lots of great people. Travelled by myself, and i'm not much of a traveller, but the staff was very friendly and welcoming, and made it easy to get around. Would definitely recommend going there.

maid With purple acrylic nails never even showed up to clean - had to call main desk :/ but the buffet staff - all of the! were excellent and Alberto the bellboy was lovely! Beach is great, and pool too

.WELL MAINTAINED, FRIENDLY ACCOMODATING.NOTE' NO ELEVATORS IN UNITS. BANK FOR EXCHANGE AT RESORT.LOTS OF EXCURSIONS. GREAT ENTERTAINMENT NIGHTLY. OTHER EATERIES OTHER THAN THE BUFFET WHICH ARE ALL PART OF THE "ALL INCLUSIVE"

Melia Marina Varadero: wonderful time!!

The resort is new and beautiful. Staff was friendly and wonderful. Small problems with the room were addressed quickly. Enough food and a la carte options that even the pickiest of eaters shouldn't starve. Staff is amazing. My second time in Cuba, my boyfriends first time. We will come back again and again. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Not a Five star !!!

Overall the people were really nice. However if you expect this place to be a five star it is not. Very old looking hotel. The buffet was very repetitive, the best food places were the Japanese and the French al carte. The beach was very dirty and the weather was windy. Overall we had an ok experience, the people are worth the trip here. Don't expect your room to be super clean either. We would have to call constantly for towels, and our fridge.

Melia Las Americas: Great Vacation

Just came back from a week at MLA, my son had great golf games and I had a nice relaxing vacation. Food is out of this world (buffet), staff are wonderful and treat you like family and entertainment is the best. Beaches are wonderful.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Just a Great Time

All featues of the hotel were definitely to our liking. The staff were very friendly. More that enough food. We enjoyed the entertainment. Accomodations were very pleasant and very clean. A great retreat for me and my wife. I would definitely reccomend this hotel

Melia Las Dunas: amazing

The whole trip was amazing the staff were very friendly.the rooms were very clean and the food was everything we ever wanted.The grounds were kept very well groomed.Not a bad thing to say about this resort and we will be going back again

Tryp Cayo Coco: Maybe someplace new next time.

I noticed immediately that the ownership has changed and the hotel is less up to standard than previously. They also gave no acknowledgement of return guests as the previous owners did. This was my forth trip there but I'll look for another resort in Cayo Coco now. The staff are still very good & the food was quite o.k. if you enjoy fish as I do. You would never go hungry. Sol Varadero Beach: Beautiful spot the ocean and Beach are AMAZING.

Our room was always clean and fresh, we had a beautiful view of the pool and the lovely grounds. there was always something good to eat, fresh fruit, lots of fish, the Baked good were amazing. It is well spread out and we were able to walk a lot which was good for us.

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: the ocean is grat

no activities in the resort and that is a shame.... when the weather is bad ,windy,etc where you cant swim , there is no entertainment.....one yoga class in 3 days.. The beach is nice staff is friendly and the food is good
