Beautiful resort. Although large, never seemed crowded, plenty of area's to hang out and never a problem finding chairs at beach or pool. Very clean with great food, drinks, entertainment and service. Had a fantastic week and would definitely recommend this resort to others!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Relaxing holiday
This hotel is very large, which I prefer. I love to visit all of the different lobbies and even sit at different pools, you never get bored with seeing the same things every day. The rooms are as mentioned in other reviews dated, but they are kept very clean. The housekeeping staff does a great job. The grounds are immaculate and walkways impeccable. We ate mainly at the buffets, the only alacarte that we tried was the Brazilian and it was very good. There was always something to choose from [... read more]at the buffets. The beach is nice and you can walk quite a distance down the beach. The pools were lovely, and the temperature in all the pools was perfect - not too cold as some reviews stated. There are trollies that will take you all around the resort, and the wait for the trollies is usually under 5 minutes. The employees at this resort are very friendly. All in all I had a very nice vacation at this resort and I would return.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing Food!
My husband and I stayed at the Hideaway diamond club, it was a great experience. We had a reserved spot on the beach which was nice with constant drinks. The hideaway section had its own entertainment which was okay. The beach however had seaweed and wasnt as clean as I hoped. But I must say the food and spa were amazing experiences! So many resturants from italian to loboster! Amazing!

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Huge Resort
This was a very huge resort. We stayed at the adult only which was the furthest from the beach. It’s a nice walk when the sun is not beating down on you. Lots of seedweed so we spent our time around the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food was very disappointing We found we were better off eating at the buffet. Staff were nice and friendly. Barely makes a 4 star. Unfortunately we won’t return. Plus side we didn’t gain any weight, food was not good and we walked so muc[... read more]h. Lol

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Excellent experience
My husband and I just came back from a week at the Occidental XCaret in Mexico and we loved just about everything about it.
The staff was very attentive, polite and went out of their way to accommodate us whether it was in the restaurants, beach, front desk or even the cleaning crew.
The food was tasty and plenty at the buffet and we only ate at 3 specialty restaurants which were good (steak house, sea food and Italian) but overall was a very nice experience.
The thing that stood out the mos[... read more]t about the Hotel was the excellent cleanliness all over: the pathways, the pool area, the hotel inside and grounds. There were people constantly sweeping, washing or painting the different areas of the hotel to keep it spotless. We were in awe of the amount of trees, plants, greenery that surrounded the hotel which meant that a lot of animals were present on the grounds all the time. These little creatures (monkeys, parrots, exotic birds, salamanders, iguanas, were always around but did not bother us. They also had white tail deer, tapirs, and larger animals inside enclosures for clients to admire.
We ever have had such good service at a hotel since we have started to travel 35 years ago.
The only negative part of the trip was the beach. It was far from the hotel and had lots of sargassum (seaweed) which is unfortunately not the Hotel's fault but due to the warm weather currents and storms in the Caribbean sea. This is not a hotel for people with mobility issues because of it's large size.

Grand Riviera Princess: Grand Riviera Princess - Mar 13-20/2018
Check in was a breeze! No line up at all. However, they did not accommodate our room request and did not want to change our rooms. Once we got to our rooms and called front desk, we were able to speak to someone else that was able to change our rooms. This was a bit of a hassle as we are a family of 5. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had an issue with our A/C so they were in and out trying to fix it but it was fixed within a few hours of our arrival. A/C unit was still loud though. Fridge wasn[... read more]'t working so they tried to fix it. When they couldn't, they got us a new fridge but still didn't work. Apart from that, room was fine and cleaned daily.
We mainly ate at the buffets for breakfast and dinner and just got BBQ for lunch. Food is good. We were travelling with an other family that has 2 kids and we have 3 kids. No issues finding food that the kids liked or food that we liked. For the A La Carte restaurants, I would highly recommend the seafood (salmon and shrimp were delicious) and the Japanese. The Italian was not very good. But the buffets are also just fine and they have theme nights.
The grounds are well kept. There is always someone sweeping, changing garbage, cleaning washrooms, etc. And everyone is very friendly. We had no issues walking from place to place but there is a "train" that you can take also. There are lots of animals that you will see. As long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you! If you leave your food unattended though, they WILL come and eat it!
We had access to the family club. The kids pool was nice. It was clean, shallow, and had some slides and other things for the kids to play. They come around during lunch with hot dogs, burgers, and fries which is very nice of them. The kids club also has a schedule that you can view and sign kids up for activities. There are plenty of activities and lots of supervision for the kids.
The pools are well maintained and some have swim up bars. They usually have entertainment in the main pool around 3PM but it's not always child friendly. They had a foam party at the beach also one day but again not child friendly. Didn't bother us as there was lots of other things for the kids to do. The beach has lots of seaweed but if you go in it stays shallow for quite a while and you won't find seaweed. We only went to the beach twice but that was only because the kids didn't want to leave the pool!
Entertainment at night in the theatre was great! The shows are appropriate for all ages and the kids really enjoyed them.
We travelled from March 13-20, 2018 and the weather was perfect! There is a bit of rain on the day that we arrived but it didn't last long. The rest of the days was sunny and hot.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing resort, apart from the dolphinarium
The hotel and the staff were great. Amazing and clean place with a lot of people doing a great job. It is truly grand, in size, so a lot of walking is recommended but they have transportation on the premises. There are two different pools, a lazy river and two sides of the beach and decent spaces to snorkel and a dive shop to scuba dive.
The grounds on and around the hotel are beautiful - they have a bike tour around the hotel that show all the fauna. The hotel property is very big and it d[... read more]eserves the detour.
The equipment in the gym is fairly old and the spa seems great, I however did not try it. The spa is far from the hotel in front of the dolphinarium. Its a great hotel for walks in the mornings.
I however cannot recommend this place for their dolphinarium. Dolphins are animals who have the ocean as their home and here they are captive in a very small pool; their captivity reduces their lives. Please do not go to the dolphin show and request the animals be freed.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Second time at this resort, maybe better than our first!
This is our family's second stay at this resort. We have a 9 & 11 year old. We stayed for a week this March and the same time last year. We had an amazing time last year and we can hardly believe that this time was even better. We have been to many All Inclusive resorts in Mexico, Cuba and the DR and this one is near the top for value for money. Remember, you are on vacation and that the staff is doing their best at this resort to make everyone happy. The resort is about a 90 minute drive from t[... read more]he airport but totally worth it. This is a wonderful family resort. It is large but we like that, it means more options. The staff is what really makes this resort special. Everyone, from the reception, servers, gardeners, housekeepers, butlers, trolly drivers, beach workers, is extremely hardworking and friendly. The beaches do get a lot of seaweed but the crew works very hard starting very early to clean it up everyday. The best stretch of beach is in front of the Akumal. The swimming area is shallow so if you like to do a lot of swimming you might stick to the pools. The resort is gorgeous and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The variety of food at the buffet is excellent, something for everyone! We tried a few restaurants and were very happy. The butler service is great to help you book restaurants, tennis, and correct problems in the room. The resort has access to the other resorts in the chain, it is fun to check out the waterpark at Coba and the restaurants at Coba and Tulum. The transportation system is great, although we love walking and enjoyed checking out the other resorts while working off our big meals! The Tulum resort was under some construction so heads-up if you venture over there. We have nothing but great things to say about our vacation here and we have fantastic memories to last a lifetime. Special thanks to Jose for his exceptional service in the buffet, Angel for his service at the Mikado, Patricia who is super friendly at the dinner buffet, Pamela at the Spa, Jairo and Anibar at Grand Tortuga, and butlers Tony and Alex. You made our stay extra special! We would happily recommend this to anyone, great value for your money.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful resort - excellent food !
We just got back from a 7 day vacation here and it was fantastic. This resort is one of the larger ones we’ve been to and would not be great for travelers with mobility issues. It’s basically split into 2 areas. The lobby, majority of a la cartes, main buffet, gym, theatre, and quiet pool with two buildings for accommodations are all in the jungle and where you first arrive. Then a concrete path leads towards the ocean where the pool, beach, beach restaurant, and majority of the accommoda[... read more]tion buildings are. It’s about a 10 min walk and very scenic with iguanas and another creature we called lemurs (but arent). There were golf carts and other shuttles running back and forth but weren’t consistent.
Aside from the weather being amazing the food was a highlight. Breakfast was available at 2 locations but more plentiful in the main buffet. My husband had 1/2 coffee 1/2 bailey’s every morning x2 or 3 and I had at least 1 mimosa. Servers were very attentive and quick to refill. We noticed that most of the alcohol was free without a privileged wristband.
Our favourite a la cartes were the seafood ( the grilled salmon over crunchy potatoes was AMAZING!!) and the Oriental. We went to both twice.
The evening shows were varied. The best by far was the circus one. You must see it!!! Grease and Aladdin were also good. They repeat the set every 7 days so if you are there for more than a week plan accordingly.
Best surprise was if you walked up the beach to the left (North) about 1 km there was a fresh water stream flowing into the ocean. The water was crystal clear and so blue. You can swim in this for free. There is a very strong current flowing towards the ocean but water got shallow before reaching the ocean so it wasn’t dangerous and you could stand to walk to the side. We rented a double kayak from the resort for 30US$ and went up stream to a cenote to snorkel. The water was very clear but not any colourful fish.
The biggest disappointment but we had been warned by other reviews is the beach is not great along the oceans edge. Tonnes of seaweed that they attempted to rake to the sides once or twice and sat in rotting piles. Very stinky and lots of bugs at the ends of the beach. The water was very brown and cloudy and I ventured in hoping for sand but most was a slimy bottom. Don’t go here if you are a lover of swimming in clear blue ocean waters off the resort. If you walk south on the beach past 2 resorts they have clear water and sand so you can swim there as a last resort.
The activities around the pool were plentiful and entertaining to watch if you weren’t in the mood to participate. We played a ton of beach volleyball. They had a good court with proper net and lines. But quality of games will always depend on the skill off the other tourists during your stay. We were lucky!!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing Family Vacation
This is the second Royalton that we have booked through Our Agent Heather Felice and this one exceeded our expectations.
The resort was clean, amazing service, food and drinks were premium and always flowing! It was a wonderful spot for a family vacation. We rented a catamaran with the other family we travelled with for a half day and that was certainly the highlight of our trip. The only small downfall was the beach.. lots of seaweed but the beauty of the coral reef was worth it.

This place is infested with mosquitoes and also some rooms have bed bugs..
If you can get past that...everything else is really great except the ocean. Smelly seaweed. The staff are really great. Steak house is awesome. One other thing. Why up charge $45 US for a frigging $10 Lobster tail. It’s gouging for something that’s supposed to be all inclusive
