Hotel Camino del Mar: 25th Wedding Anniversary

If you have ever been to Cuba then you know your don't go for the cuisine but more for the beautiful beaches and a worry free week or two. My husband chose Melia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and what a riot we had. Like most hotels in Cuba, the Melia is dated but all of your basic needs are met. I have never traveled there in October and didn't think to bring bug spray. Antihistamine or allergy pills are a must along with some anti-itch cream. Other than that, this is our new favourite Cuba destination...honestly, the beach is heavenly.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: nice beach

To start with they did not know that we booked with them as they asked when I booked our trip with them it was in Aug.They asked for our travel itinerary,they said that they would give us room 1215.went to the room on second floor,we asked for a ground floor at booking with tripcentral ,we asked for a quite place,it was behind the desco as we found out. Oct.23 was our 49th anniversary booked the Italian rest.for 7 P.M.got dressed and went it was closed nobody phoned or got in touch to say it had [... read more] been close.The first week was great on the beach warm water lots of sun,& jelly fish.then 3 days of rain,the next 4 days O.K.A/C is contorled by them on timers they stop working some time in the morning & come on at 5:30 P.M.The pools are good,snack bars & bars are good,rooms are a good size,grounds are very nice & clean.the workers there are great.Food no bacon for 13 out of 14 days,lack of vegies,but you can find some thing to eat everyday,you get what you pay for.

Melia Cayo Coco: Good getaway with onsite scuba

Large resort with good buffet. Restaurants are ok but we preferred buffet. Scuba available for 3 dives per day. Easy to get to dive sites. Boat is smaller than last visit but great visibility and coral sites. Pool is lacking of an in-pool bar as you have to walk to the resto-bar... It's tough being on vacation Stayed in lagoon suite... Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Memories Flamenco, Cayo Coco, Cuba

Resort was nice. People were great! Accommodations were good. Food was marginal at best most days. The beach is nice, though hard coral greets you for about 10-15 feet before you hit nice sand and water

Muthu Colonial Hotel: "Horrible Run Down Resort"

This was a horrible vacation resort, run down, dirty,terrible food, the worst customer service I have ever encountered, mold on walls, broken staircases, uneven walkways, unsanitary pools,dirty beach.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great experience at Caribe!

From the second we got off the plane, we were well taken care of by the staff at Memories Caribe. We were promptly checked in, so when we arrived at the resort from the airport we could get straight to having fun! From the staff, to the grounds, to the rooms and beautiful beach...I would highly recommend Memories Caribe. Particularly surprising was the quality of the nightly entertainment. The a la carte meals were some of the best food I've had, and not just at a resort. I would highly recommend checking out the Cubano restaurant. The buffet was ok, always something to find but the restaurants and the snack bars blow it out of the water. Speaking of water, this may have been the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the water was full of jellyfish but we were able to maneuver them and enjoy the wonderful beach front. My partner and I were Diamond Club members, and the beach is where we particularly enjoyed being members. We had our own designated space on the beach, with wait service for drinks. A small pleasure, but it just made it that much more enjoyable. I could go on and on, but long story short...it's definitely worth it's high review score.

Club Caribe Cayo Coco: Horrible Stay Away

first of all there is no Caribe sec.this hotel is very run down and dirty, the beach is unusable we feel (8 couples) that there was false advertisement on behalf of Hola Sun, landscapeing of resort not done in weeks resulting in many mosquitoes some of us are antibiotics because of the bites. Our room on sec. floor flooded twice the Hola Sun rep was no use at all. Please avoid this resort at any cost !!!! In the condition this resort is in would not allow my dog to stay there!!!!

Melia Cayo Coco: Malia Cayo Coco

Had a fabulous time at the Malia, and people were so friendly. The food was great and the staff was so helpful and would do anything for you. The ocean when we went on October 15th to the 25th, was warmer than the pool. The pool area was great with lots of lounges and cabana's to shade the sun. Got burnt the first day, so had to use sunscreen the remainder of my time. When we left for our dinner at the buffet, we went to the lobby for refreshments and the entertainment was really good. The crowd there were applauding and appreciative of the entertainment, and the waiters were right there to accomadate you in whatever you wanted to drink. The staff at the resort were the best I have ever seen. I have travelled to many places , but this place I will be returning for sure. I was one for awakening at 5 am and would go for a coffee at the pool bar where I met people from all over the world and they would chat it up on their experiences at different resorts and were impressed with the service at the Melia. The staff at the pool bar would just tell me to sit down as they would know what coffee I was drinking and would bring it to my table. We would sit there with other people talking for at least 2-3 hrs about our life styles and in general, family, homes, and health of course. We didn't have anything bad to say about the service and the way you were treated by the staff there at the Melia. I would highly recommend this resort to people that are interested in great service , food, and the most important thing to most people is cleanliness, as the rooms and washrooms were spotless, and maintained on a regular basis. I can't say enough on how we enjoyed our trip to the Melia.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great Vacation

Everything about the resort was positive..although the rooms need updating but for the price we paid there is no resort in Ontario that you can go to during this time for the same price. I talked to the GM a few times ..a very lovely lady from Spain..and brought some concerns to her attention as I was in the Resort Industry as an Executive Housekeeper prior to retiring ...The resort is just making a profit so when taking into account their standards and cost I say there is no complaints...We (as [... read more] seniors) will go back whenever it goes on sale again....

Tryp Cayo Coco: Terrific Tryp

My husband and I travelled to the Tryp Cayo Coco Sept.29-Oct.6 2014 to surprise our friends who arrived there Sept.26....from the beginning we had a great trip flying with Sunwing airlines...when we arrived at the hotel I requested that we have a room closer to the lobby as bdlg 14 was too far for us to walk on a regular basis....the evening receptionist had no problems placing us in bdlg 6, our room was a little dated but had a great partial view of the ocean and full view of the pool, second f [... read more]loor....the next day they moved us to room 631...same floor but nicer room. Bith rooms were kept very clean by Evelyn, housekeeping she is amazing.....the restaurants at the Tryp are great.....the buffet for breakfast and lunch lots of choices, I always stick with the fresh eggs for breakfast, my husband loves the French toast and pancakes we always tip the chefs in buffets and food cooked perfectly Borges in the buffet makes sure that you feel like family everyday, male server works with Borges, also serves at beach restaurant for lunch great guy, sorry I did. On the Friday beach restaurant La Picua opened for lunch....BBQ's outside with roasted pig and other goodies inside menu with pizza burgers etc. and huge lobsters for 10 CUC, delicious, after that the beach restaurant open everyday for lunch.....have been told they are going to rebuild this restaurant in the near future...we had dinner a few times at the international restaurant Lorenzo is in charge there and he is amazing also the food there is great....the main lobby bar lots of fun, staff there terrific Osmani the bartender very attentive and also the waitress staff there great, they also have cappuccino there all day, as well as down stairs there is a 24 hour snack bar with sandwiches, drinks and cappuccino early in the morning for early risers...I started to take the cups from the room down for morning coffee so wouldn't have to take plastics cups back to the room....we managed to get a reservation in the Japanese restaurant....again the food was fabulous very filling we had the chicken and vegetables and it was a lot of food, Brian and I ordered 1 rice to share and never even ate it....we went to the BBQ restaurant early before the Mosquitos got too bad as it is outside, again great....the chef heard us ask if they had salad, they did not but he made us a great tomato cucumber salad with a little oil and vinegar...delicious, food and service there also great....we were extremely happy with the hotel staff.....William and Gelly in customer service there anytime we had a question. Over all the hotel is a very attractive property and kept very clean. I have already recommended the Tryp to family members who travelled there in August

Hotel Playa Coco: Interesting experience

My family and friends travelled to Hotel Playa Coco July 19- 26, 2014. We were a group of 15. This was a return trip for my children as they had been the previous year 2013 in July with a group of 8 and loved their visit that trip. A good friend of mine also joined us and flew down July 18 2014. My first experience with the Hotel Playa Coco was that even though an email had been sent by my daughter informing the hotel that we were a group and wanted to be together in the yellow building by the w [... read more]ater, my daughter, grand-daughter and I were told that we would not have our rooms until later in the day....no problem....we changed and started our vacation with a cold cervasa sitting outside the lobby bar in a nice tall glass.....waiting for us ordered by my friend, good idea to send someone down early....when we finally got our rooms, my daughters room was very moldy and my room even had mold all over the mirror, the rooms were on the first floor and my patio door latch was broken, I would not be able to sleep comfortably there....the front desk Yohander, was very nice and assured us that we would have a suitable room to sleep in for our first night, at this point I would have slept in the very comfortable lobby ......by nine o'clock the three of us finally moved our things up three flights of stairs to a very clean room and we shared a room that night, this was building 6......we were finally moved late in the day again to building 4, which was the same building as the rest of our group and the room was wonderful....apparently building 5 also great as my children stayed there in 2013....the restaurants are great.....I always stick with fresh cooked eggs for breakfast and pizza or fries for lunch....we loved the Japanese restaurant so much fun watching the cooks put on their show....the seafood down by the ocean was also very good, although I did order the beef there, it was cooked just the way I ordered it and the service and presentation was great....was really looking forward to going to the Italian restaurant freshly decorated nicely, but they were very busy and the service was slow, also ordered the beef there, well done and it was raw....ate lunch almost every day at either the beach restaurant, service slow but food okay, or the beer garden, fish and chips the best I've ever eaten, French fries also a big hit with the family, with 5 children French fries important.....I want to also mention Yunior, he is one of the staff that makes all carte reservations, great guy and because of some of the issues I had the hotel asked him to include me with my family in the Japanese restaurant our last night, so I actually got to go twice....we all loved the lobby bar, it was air conditioned if you had to get out of the heat for a while, Jorge's was great there and between him and the female waitress/sorry I can't remember her name they would start making our cappuccinos as soon as they saw us coming, always insisted that we sit down and they would serve us.....In July I found entering the water at the beach very rocky and wished that I had brought water shoes, if they have addressed this issue and added more sand that would be great, it is a very nice beach....Michael, formerly worked at the pool, was there every day and made sure our group had loungers all together with enough shade to get out of the sun....one of our friends did get stung by a jelly fish, but it is the ocean.....recently stayed at Tryp Cayo Coco and saw jelly fish in the water there as well....in July we noticed a lot of either horse or cow feces all over the lawns, this was a concern to us as this is a breeding ground for flies, Mosquitos and other bugs......lastly we had quite an experience watching hundreds of Cuban guests arrive on either Thursday or Friday of our trip, from this point on the hotel, which was very clean and service was good, was now filthy with garbage strewn everywhere, buffet was extremely busy and these new guests were emptying the food tables only to leave piles of food on the table when they left the restaurant, these guests were rude, and pushy yelling over everyone else for drinks......Over all I love cayo coco and will return again....

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great for families!

Very clean grounds, nice grounds staff. Friendly hostess's. Variety of food- bbq, a la carte and buffet. Rooms were clean the main level or ground floor level suites do have more bugs. Pools were always clean, towels are provided there and you can exchange at the hut when needed. Always some sort of activities or games going on . Great night entertainment. The staff at the kids club were awesome. 15 minutes from airport. The beach had some open face rock on the beach but was being covered with m [... read more]ore sand. If you want to be in the middle of it all book residences 1, 2 or 3(closest to the beach) 4 gives you enough distance away from eh night life to fall asleep but yet still be able to walk a short distance to all amentias. Check in staff got us in our room early and were very accommodating especially with children. there are other Memories reports around Flamenco but are not as nice and are under construction. None of us got sick and are dreaming of the next trip back!!!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: decent resort

I was very disappointed, we were diamond club which is VIP and we got treated worse then the normal guests. The food was average, they had buffet and stations where you could get a variety of meats cooked in front of you. The alacarts were okay, it was a lot of the same foods repeated but made a little differently. The rooms were very basic, no beach view, no view whatsoever, our view was a bunch of trees. We actually had a few problems in the room and called a few times and they never got fixed [... read more] properly. Our sheets always felt dirty, I don't think they changed them once! The layout of the resort was somewhat confusing. The beach area was very rocky entering the water and the VIP section was awful!! The staff wasn't friendly at all! The excursions weren't the greatest and way over priced. Overall I would definitely not go back or recommend this place to anyone!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Not a 4* resort!

This resort has potential, but sadly it seems that it is not maintained well. Mold on the outside of the buildings. Public areas seemed clean. Rooms - ok, however, mold in the bathroom. Pillows looked grey and stained; sheets stained. Only one buffet and one À la carte open. Buffet and snack bar would run out of foods on a regular basis. The food and service were well below it's claimed 4* rating. Did not go into the pool that was safe to use - did not look too inviting. Salt water pool was cl [... read more]osed off due to poor appearance and lack of proper maintenance. Beach was nice, but again, sadly, littered with plastic cups, bags and more garbage. Nobody seemed to clean the beach during my 7-day stay. This was very disappointing. Night entertainment was fine - I mostly appreciated Cuban music groups coming to the resort and playing live music. This was not my first time to Cuba, so I was not visiting with unrealistic expectations. I would most definitely choose another hotel for my next visit to Cayo Coco. An overall 3*, however in some areas I would give it less than 3*.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Excellent

Good service, great food, nice beach and fun pool bar. Toilets could use improvment though, so could care of animals found on site. Been there many times and will go back again. Good value for the buck.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Perfect vacation

Stayed at The Pestana resort in Cayo Coco from September 26 to October 3, 2014. The hotel is brand new, rooms are clean, modern, with excellent air conditioning and hot water, one of the best. The beach is fantastic, nice walk in to the ocean with little rocks. The pool is beautiful and warm, great swim up bar. The beach bar serves drinks only, but again great service. The food is good, I would avoid the ala carte restaurants and stick with the buffet and the snack bar, better choices. The staff [... read more] super friendly and eager to please. Muthu Colonial Hotel: 8 th time to Cuba

Would not return to this particular hotel perhaps low season food poor at the buffet. been to different resorts in cuba 8 times....all others were better. For me this is not a 5 star as shown in the entrance lobby.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Lovely People (workers)

Good food,very clean,very good entertainment,good service,beautiful setting, good value. One disappointment was that we couldn't book the a la cartes.The spots for dinner were mostly gone the 2nd day we were there.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Fantastic Resort and Wonderful Vacation

This is the third time that my boyfriend have been to The Iberostar Daquiri (my parents have been coming to this resort for many years). The reson that we continue to return is because the service, food quality, rooms, beach, common areas, etc are all fantastic!!! We couldn't ask for a better place to stay while in Cuba.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Value / Great Hotel

The hotel facilities are older, but the staff, food and location more than make up for its' age! This resort has a huge following of loyal, repeat customers, so when you visit, it is not unusual to meet up with guests you saw on the previous visit. It's a little like having a cottage at the lake, everyone and everything is familiar! Get to know the staff, they make you feel at home.
