Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Most impressed

Everything was fantastic! We will return with our adult children and grand children. We wanted to relax. We did. We wanted comfort. We got it. We wanted great service. It happened. We walked the beach. We found the food to be excellent. Well done Grand Bahia!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Just ok!

The beach was not good, they tried to keep it clean but so much seaweed it was impossible. Our room was fine but we never received the best service, our fridge was barely ever stocked nor could our maid speak any English. the food was just ok, I have been to Mexico before and the food was wonderful. the pools were great and fairly clean.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Grand Hotel, All Inclusive - Not Quite

Beautiful hotel and grounds with adjoined buildings and elevator service. Service was formal and missed that tropical feeling and friendliness of staff. Extra charges if you are not booked in Club Diamond or Gold: safe fee is $6.00/per day and requires a $50.00 deposit; one hour Wi-Fi per day only without charge (only available in the lobby) exclusive bars and restaurants to Club Diamond or Gold and Privilege members. Worthwhile to upgrade if you need these services, however I do not see how a r [... read more]oom safe can be considered an option when travelling. High level of security present on every hotel floor in the evening and around the grounds by day.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Good Resort

Grounds were beautiful, rooms were nice and clean...wide variety of food choices at the buffet....two a la cartes we went to were Italian and Garden Grill....both were good but I would say the Garden Grill was the best one out of any we've been to on any trip...Resort was too big personally for our liking but if the price were right we'd certainly return. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Spectacular Resort

This was our third trip to Punta Cana and our first stay at the Ambar. Superior resort with a fantastic beach and superb a la cartes! The staff was amazing and did everything they could to make you feel welcome! Will definitely recommend this resort

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Beutiful resort alot of stairs though,

Grounds kept nice, hotel clean, but we had cockroaches in our room, we expected robes and slippers and a bottle of rum did not get any, television stations were more in Spanish and we had to pay for safe have never had to do this before, and no room service, only for Privilege we were told, would not go back to this resort but would maybe try another one on the same island. As well when talking to other people they did not pay as much as we did, if you want a beach is not a good one for this not [... read more] for walking anyway, punta cana better for beaches there, and would have liked more restaurants. We made reservations for one of the restaurants and we got locked out of our room, we had to call for service and my family went on to restaurant and we told them we would follow, apparently the people told them if we were not there in ten mins we would be locked out, did not appreciate this when it was not even our fault, sorry but was not really happy about this place, next time I will go back to adults only, when you work very hard all year and to be disappointed with it, and as well no internet, one hour a day by the time you got signed in was not much, have never had this before as well.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Fantastic resort in Punta Cana

I just returned from a week at Ambar and can't say enough great things. The resort was spotless - they actually scrub down the pool area every night. The room was always clean and restocked every day. Thanks to Liane ( I maybe misspelt that) so taking such great care of me and my room! I was in Ambar 2, second floor, and had a fabulous view of the pool! For those that say the beach is far away I have one comment - are you kidding me? It wasn't even 5 minutes to walk it! And the shuttles run freq [... read more]uently if you want them. The restaurants ( a la carte) were fantastic. Don Pablo should have a Michelin star! It was that good. Takara and el Olivio were amazing as well. Portafino - the chicken medallions were really good. Even the buffet was great. A special hello to William and Carlos at the Ambar 2 bar... They are so friendly and nice. I miss them already! Everyone at the resort were incredibly friendly and helpful. I will go back! Also for the lady who checked me into room 81208... Gracias gracias gracias! Loved it! I am sorry but I can't remember her name but she was so professional and friendly. Other tips Sushi at Ambar pool is excellent! Garden grill - if you love steak... Order something else. That was disappointing. Sorry. - my only complaint Beach is beautiful!

rooms were ok, had cockroaches everynight in our room, got a electric shock from a light that but a burn on my thumb, went to a fine dinner people we were with key would not work in room had to wait for maintance to come, got to resturant told us if they were not there in 10 mins they would not be allowed in and would not serve us drink, internet was not good, staff at pool and shows were awsome, we were not allowed to get room service, and we were told a bathrobe, slippers and free rum would be [... read more] in our room never got that.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Luxury Gran Bahia Akumal - Don Pablo

As always, we use Tripcentral for all our travelling needs and once again, they were awesome! Thank you Yasmin Sousa, your dedication to your clientelle is to be applauded. The Akumal Don Pablo was amazing. We have travelled to this particular resort 3 times before it became Don Pablo and it was perfect from the time we arrived and until the time we left. Staff, front desk staff, butler service, everyone was fantastic. They go above and beyond to make your stay as best as it can be. Ala cartes a [... read more]nd buffets were very good. Cannot say enough about this wonderful resort. We choose the Bahia resorts every year and they never disappoint. Highly recommend.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great, quality resort - amazing food!!!

Would definitely go back to this resort on a repeat trip to the Mayan Riviera... and the extra few hundred bucks (for a family of 4) was well worth it! The location right on the (best part of the) beach, the quality of the food/bar service were far superior to the other resorts (Tulum and Coba) we visited in the complex and the fact that while the resort was fully booked, it always felt empty! (due to the exclusivity of the beach/resort). And of all the all-inclusive resorts we've visited in the [... read more] Caribbean (Cuba, D.R., even the Sandals in Antigua), the food was by far the best! The a la cartes were top notch, but the buffet at this resort was even more impressive! The only minor negatives are the room sizes (for quad occupancy) are a bit underwhelming and the beds are barely doubles... also, beware of high expectations for the beach if you value the long stretches of white sand, clear water, big surf you might find in Cuba, D.R. or Jamaica... there are small pockets/coves of relatively nice beach in this part of Mexico, but much of the coast is rockier due to a reef. The trade-off is you can do some snorkeling right off the resort and see a ton of tropical fish...

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very nice, relaxing resort

The grounds were very well manicured, everything was clean.The staff were great, especially Fransico. We couldn't complain about the food. The complex is very large; however, easy to get around with the shuttle buses and you could certainly walk everywhere.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Avoid at all costs - esp for groups/weddings!

Where to start... We were a group of 27 people attending a destination wedding. Our Ages ranged from 25-84. We booked between December and January for the beginning of May, and we submitted our booking information to the wedding planner well in advance, on the premise that we would all be placed "close" (in the same or adjoining villas, close to the beach). As soon as we got there, the problems started: - No one seemed to know what was going on with our reservations. - There was apparently no t [... read more]race of a 'group' arriving (but upon insisting, in Spanish only, that they search their records, the reservations were found, of course). - Our rooms were as far away from the beach as possible. - Not only were the group members NOT close together, but we were dispersed haphazardly throughout the hotel complex. - We requested a ground floor room for the 84-year-old grandmother who barely walks; we were told that she was on the 2nd floor and that the hotel was 'fully booked'; after 30 minutes of arguing and insisting (again, only in Spanish) a room miraculously appeared on a ground floor. - My in-laws checked into their room and went to dinner, only to find a stranger walking OUT of their room upon their return. The stranger was frustrated because that was apparently the THIRD occupied room that she had been given in the last 3 hours. At least we weren't the only ones having a bad time of it... - The instructions for a la carte reservations were unclear, resulting in our group being unable to get space for a dinner together other than the wedding dinner. The beach It was more of a glorified salt-water wading pool. It's a fake beach that's protected from erosion by giant sand banks covered by tarps and anchored to the sea floor. If you look on Google Maps, you can see them just off the coast. In person, they look like giant semi-submerged whale carcasses in various stages of decomposition (some are new and therefore the tarp is black; some are older and covered with puke-brown seaweed and polyps). The sea-pool is so shallow that I hit my feet against the sand when I tried to swim in the deepest portions. And to add insult to injury, the sea bloomed while we were there, producing an algae cover over this shallow water that looked like an undulating puke-brown carpet. The hotel's solution to this (annual) occurrence: have 3 guys manually raking up masses of seaweed into standard-sized garbage bags. No trucks. No mechanical raking. Moist, rotting seaweed piling up on the shore. Sand fleas galore! And if you think that the Akumal side might be better because the hotel's more expensive... think again! We walked 1-2 km in both directions from the main Tulum beach, and the picture's the same: small fake beaches, dead whale carcasses as barriers and shallow wading pools of water. The wedding I can't comment much because I wasn't heavily involved in the organization, but I CAN say that between December and May the wedding coordinator was changed SIX TIMES! Naturally, no communication seems to have been made between all of these different coordinators, so every new person had to be re-briefed by the wedding couple. I do NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE who: - wants to come to Riviera Maya for the beach - doesn't have a relatively respectable level of Spanish (for arguing) - doesn't want to spend 2-3 mornings at reception arguing - is traveling with a group - has made special requests (that they expect to be fulfilled) - is holding a wedding/celebration/event of any kind If this was a hostel in Amsterdam or Thailand, I'd say the experience was great! because I would have got what we paid for. However, at $1500 per person X 27 = $40 500 for the group, and in a 4-5 star hotel, this experience was a disgrace!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice, huge resort

Nice and clean resort. Many restaurant, pool, space, chairs for everybody. Cart/train available all day, do not need to wait too long for one and always room for many people. Boutique available on site.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Lives up to Bahia past experiences

The only issue I had was that the beach was not as nice as other Bahia resorts I have stayed at. There was way too much seaweed. The shoreline of the beach was really short and the water was not crystal clear and very rough waters, There was a red flag posted for the whole week we were there. We made the best of it but I don't know if I would return to the Bahia in Mexico again. The resort was too far from the airport as well.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Not so amazing resort

We felt the property was beautiful, the food was great. We did not get great service (with the exception of one server), our room had a noisy fan and a poor quality air conditioner - we complained twice and never got satisfaction

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Bahia principe coba

The grounds were nice, however the service at the buffet was not good. They were always out of everything, and I had to ask 3 different people for a drink before we got them. The room was nice and in a good location, however it was our second room, as the first, had a broken air conditioner and mold in the room. The second smelled musty but overall was not too bad.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Best one yet.

This is the first resort on 15 years of travel that we would consider returning to. The staff were always friendly and helpful and really went out of their way to make your stay a wonderful experience. The resort and grounds were really well kept and clean and of course the beach was amazing.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Tropical Paradise

The beach is great for swimming, snorkeling and walking. Sand is not pure white but it's very soft. Love that it's the only resort on the beach. Both pools are nice. They definitely need more palapas on the beach. If you didn't get to the beach by 6:15 am, you likely couldn't get one. Some guests appeared to leave towels on several palapas overnight on the last few days of our stay. The quality of food & drinks in buffets & restaurants was good. Drink service in the main buffet was too slow; o [... read more]ften only got drinks at the end of the meal & not any water. The beach bar was very busy with only one bartender working & we found it quicker to walk to the main lobby bar. The new outdoor seating areas are great. The lobby bar needs more air conditioning/air circulation. Better if Wifi would work in outdoor seating area by lobby. Staff work very hard to clean at all times & keep seaweed off the beach which we really appreciated. Staff are friendly & helpful. The layout & size of this resort is great. It is very easy to get around in a short time. We have stayed at several all inclusives in Cuba, Mexico & Punta Cana & this was our favourite & only one we have returned to. We have recommended this resort to others & will continue to do so. Check in at the airport in both Halifax and Samana was efficient. The only issue we had was that because we booked with Sunquest and travelled with Air Canada, Air Canada charged us $25 per bag for checked luggage. We should have been clearly advised of this by Trip Central when we booked. One of our fellow travellers called Trip Central before we left & the rep wasn't sure if we had to pay that fee. Someone asked out Sunquest rep before we left Samana & he told him we didn't have to pay anything at the airport. Trip Central & Sunquest need to be up front & clear about these extra costs when a trip is booked. This added $100 to the cost of our trip.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Lovely grounds nice resort

The grounds are wonderful,lush lots of Palm trees. Rooms some what dated very clean,and quiet in our section. One thing I really enjoyed was how you could always see the ocean while eating,only one al a carte didn't have ocean view. Lots to do kayaks paddle boards .we took snorkelling tour from the beach really recommend this it was well worth the money. Food was fine,no one got sick .

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Trouble in paradise

The hotel room was beautiful, it was spacious & had a lovely bathroom. However the first 3 nights neither of us slept well. In further investigation we could see that our bed had been broken & repaired (not well). It was like sleeping with a huge hump in the middle of our back. Our friends staying in another rim had the same issue with their bed. About 4 days in we had a leak in our ceiling in the bathroom. If you needed to use the toilet it would drip on you. We called 4 times & every time they [... read more] said they would be right there, nobody ever showed up. Finally at 11pm my friend who spoke some Spanish called the front desk & someone finally came. It was extremely hot & humid, so when you got dressed up for the ala'carte it was very warm, none of the restraunts seem to be air conditioned. After dinner we would come back to our resort only to find all entertainment was over. We never did see any entertainment in our resort. The pool where all the fun was happening was way way too hot. If you had a sun burn it was actually hard to get into.
