Catalonia Yucatan: Wonderful resort with top notch security

Amazing vacation, booked privileged and it was well worth it for our 7 day vacation! A lot of choice for dinners – five a la cartes / beach BBQ and access to the exclusive B Loved restaurant for breakfast and lunches. And a spectacular view from this restaurant. The food at all the specialty restaurants was great-especially the Mexican and the Japanese. No reservations are required – however be prepared to wait a bit to get a table unless you arrive right at 6:00 pm. The variety of food avai [... read more]lable is amazing, a crepe bar, a hot dog cart, taco cart, ice cream stand and snack bar, no one will not go hungry here. We only ate at the buffet for one dinner and two breakfasts. The staff was awesome – super friendly and very hard working in all areas of the resort - all speak English quite well. Entertainment and sports bars are at the front of the resort and do not disturb anyone wanting a bit more peace and quiet. There is a beach area for those who booked the Privileged package, complete with a beach bar. There are several pools to choose from, all very clean; again one reserved for the Privilege package The evening theatre productions were professionally well done; complete with spectacular costumes and production sets. Many free amentities; including free bicycles are available to check out the town. Take the short tour that is provided 3 times a week. There are bike lanes and paths, its a really pretty, safe, gated town. Biking is an easy way to check out the marina and shops/restaurants and dolphinariums or take the 10 minute walk from the hotel. For those who enjoy golf, there is a golf course and you can purchase a package that includes the golf cart, clubs, tees, three balls and as many rounds of golf as you want. Get there early before it gets too hot. The security is absolutely fabulous – one day I tucked my cellphone under my beach towel and was gone snorkelling for two hours. When I returned there was a guard standing about 5 feet from my lounger. I learned that while I was gone the wind came up, moved my towel enough to expose my cellphone. The guard stood watch until my return. Amazing ! ! Unfortunately, I did not have any money with me and was unable to find him on the resort, later. I spoke to another guest and she figured he had been there for at least an hour. Now that is service above and beyond ! ! ! There are a couple of good spots to snorkel right in front of the hotel and in the lagoon. Also, a great public beach for snorkelling by the Omni Hotel – we were shown it on the bike tour. While I really enjoy being with children, it would have been nice to keep the Privilege area restricted to adults – especially the pool and beach area.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Health and Wellness phenomenal

Karla runs a great pilates program Although we didn't participate, I noticed that the pool was full including men during her aqua fitness program. Rene's mediation was incredible!!!!!!!! Harim's yoga is really, really good. He helps you as well. Food was pretty good. Lots of seaweed coming to shore but the resort have staff working throughout the day to keep it cleared They are really the unsung heroes. Rooms have view of the ocean. They would make what ever you like though. French restaurant didn't have a lot of choices for a celiac. Overall ...recommended

Kore Tulum Retreat Wellness Resort: Kore is worth the money

Kore is a wellness resort that is small enough that it remains rerene and tranquil. The food is fantastic...especially from the menu and upstairs. The staff are very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort

We had a great 2 week vacation. The food was ok, nothing spectacular but not terrible either. The service was great, rooms were cleaned well and we had a great time at the pools. We spent 2 days at Xcaret park and really enjoyed the experience. I would go back!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great Resort

We had a great family vacation, there were a lot of activities for kids plus the biggest pool we’ve ever seen! I would describe the food as good, not great and ditto for the beverages. I would definitely go back with kids, not sure I would for an adult only vacation.

El Dorado Royale: exceeded expectations!!!!

The Hotel, grounds, services, people, food, room were totally amazing. i would recommend this place to anyone. Everyone was friendly and polite room service was prompt and excellent, personal concierge Luis was extremely helpful he went out of his way on numerous occasions which surprised and amazed my wife and I. Sitting on the beach waiters would come by and offer you ice water that they were carrying, not expecting a tip just courtesy!!!!! Wow!!!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Excellent staff

The resort is great. The yoga, Pilates and meditation are worth the price alone. The food is pretty good. When the sargassum isn’t in the beach is lovely. One negative is that there are quite a few “spring breakers” from off the property who set up their towels in front of you and most wore only a thong. It took away from the family atmosphere of the resort. Staff are professional and service was excellent.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good family destination

This resort is a half hour bus ride from the airport and a 15 minute cab ride ($18.00 US) north of Playa Del Carmen. The resort itself is well laid out with all shopping, entertainment venues and restaurants at one end; pools and beach on the other end. All are accessed by a cement "road" that runs through the center of the property and is serviced by a hop on - hop off shuttle on a frequent basis. The property is very clean, however there is limited vegetation and with all the cement and gla [... read more]ss of the new buildings and the cement "road", it feels like walking through a mall instead of a tropical paradise. The rooms were very spacious with more than enough closet /drawer space. The bathrooms, also very spacious had a super walk -in rain shower area. We were on the ground floor in the Daisy section with the garden view and in addition to a large covered patio with 2 wicker chairs + table and hanging basket chair, we had a large private grass area with a double lounger. The kids loved the garden view as they could see monkeys and "mexican raccoons" all day long. The biggest disappointment here is the beach. Do not enter the water without water shoes. With the exception of a small sliver of water next to the roped off area for jet skis, there are rocks everywhere and every day people were cutting their feet. Although not the fault of the resort, the entire Mayan coast is currently being plagued by excessive amounts of seaweed. The staff, collecting it in huge piles and burying it in the sand, was unable to keep up with the sheer volume. There is no lack of good food or drinks at any time of the day and accessible all over the resort. A common complaint however was how the resort handled reservations for the specialty restaurants. A favorite destination was the Japanese restaurant, which required you to line up on the day of your reservation, between 11:00 and 1:00 to reserve. We tried 3 times (getting in line by 10:30) and found that by 11:20 all the time slots were taken. We actually got into the Steak House one night - lined up at 6:30, were given a buzzer and sat by the neighboring pool patio for 1 1/2 hours until our buzzer went off and we were ushered in. (FYI - not a great steak and there were several tables available). All in all, this resort is a 4 star and I would recommend it to anyone that does not have the budget for some of the massive 5 star resorts throughout the Mayan.

Riu Palace Mexico: Satisfaction guarantee !

My spouse and I went to the resort for 1 week this March. It was our third times at Riu Palace Mexico and our fifth times at the Riu complexe in Playacar. So no need to say that we appreciate very much spending our vacation at this resort. The main reasons: the food is excellent and the beach has a lot of space for everyone whether you want to be in the sun or in the shade. When we arrived, we were assigned a room with a balcony that had no glass but a concrete wall. I had request, if possible, an upgrade because it was our 5th times at the complexe but mainly because I was also celebrating my birthday during my vacation. Reading on the balcony is very important for me during my vacation and I do so every morning while my spouse keep sleeping. I also do some yoga on the balcony. Not being able to see the ground, trees and sunset was upseting for me. Some people may like the privacy of a concrete balcony, but I don't. The day after my arrival I went to speek to the manager. Miklos listened very well to my concerns and made sure that I had a room with a glass balcony for the next day. Thank you Miklos for doing everything to make my vacation more enjoyable. Everyday I had a surprise when we came back to the room at the end of the day , whether, flowers, chocolate, Happy Birthday sign and even a Tequila bottle the day of my birhtday!. Thanks again to all the Riu Palace Mexico staff for making my stay a memorable one !

Selection Riviera Cancun: Fantastic Resort

This resort was amazing. If there was a six star rating, it would have met those standards. Rooms, grounds, pools, service - all amazing. The food was incredible. The experience at Le Chique was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had and we are foodies. The only downside was the seaweed on the beach - which is unavoidable anywhere in this location at the moment. The seaweed made it impossible to swim in the ocean. I would definitely go back.

Ocean Maya Royale: Every thing we needed was readily accessible

My 3rd time going to this resort. Love it because it’s a smaller resort and no matter where you are on the resort everything is near by. Food lodging and shows were fantastic. I will go back next year. The staff are cannot do enough for you. The only negative I have is that our room was not made up from when we came back from the pool or beach. After I contacted the front desk, everything was rectified. Also sad that we could not swim at the beach, but pools were great.

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette: Amazing Resort

The resort was absolutely amazing from the grounds to the staff the food everything. We went on a recommendation by a trip central agent and we can not thank her enough. It was our first time in Mexico. We hope to return next year with the kids

Grand Riviera Princess: Beautiful amazing resort!

This was our second trip to this resort. We loved it so much we had to go back! And we will be back again, it never fails to disappoint! This time we stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suites instead of Platinum and it was just as nice. Everything is so clean here and the gardens are beautiful. All the staff are so friendly and work so hard to make sure you have an amazing vacation. There are so many different pool areas to lounge by or head to the beach. The entertainment team also do a fantastic job keeping everyone happy - the beach foam party was so much fun! El Dorado Seaside Suites: Fantastic Resort!

Highly recommend this property. Food was magnificent, staff wonderful! Awesome pools. Transfers to and from airport seamless. Bars were super fun with great entertainment. We will definitely be back!

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: Family -friendly. Resort

First time in an all inclusive resort.The resort was fantastic an the staffwas friendly an courteous,an they treated our entire family with respect, an they ensure my daughter who had a severe peanut allergy was taken care off .Not many activities for my teenage son.For a family friendly resort Azul beach resort is the place.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Family vacation

We just returned from Azul Fives and I can't say enough about this resort. The staff is so hard working, friendly and constantly make sure you have everything you need and want. The grounds are absolutely meticulous. You feel like you are surrounded by the rain forest. Food absolutely exceeded our expectations. This place is worth visiting again and again.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Loved the Hideaway Royalton riviera

Okay I did a lot of searching before picking this resort and I choose perfectly. From the moment we arrived at the Royalton riviera hideaway every single staff member was amazing. Diamond club at the hideaway I highly recommend. A welcome drink was given to you as soon as you arrived. They took our bags so that they could be delivered to our room. We were then escorted through the resort to the Diamond club Lounge were we were registered and also given a glass of champagne. We went and changed i [... read more]n the main lobby into our bathing suits and were headed to the beach because our room wasn’t quite ready. I didn’t want to take all of our things to the beach so we went back to the lobby to give them to the bell boy so he could escort them to our room. But much to our surprise they had already been taken to our room as it was ready! We got to our room and it was spectacular! Ocean front, huge, balcony with jacuzzi. There was a welcome message from out two butlers, Michelle and Evanisto. Not more than two minutes later Michelle was at our door, introduced herself, asked if we needing anything and could she unpack for us, what would we like to drink etc., showed us how the tv worked, how we could order food etc. She told us when she would be working and when Evanisto would be working. After she left the door knocked again and it was a concierge with a bottle of champagne. We left our room to explore a bit and ended up sitting in the lobby and just gazing graciously at how beautiful everything was. Franklyn (Franko) the front concierge across from the spa came over, introduced himself and them offered to get us drinks. Can you say wow! When we went to the beach on the diamond club hideaway section where we were always greeted with a smile by Raul. He offered us towels, laid them out for us, and was always coming around to service everyone with drinks. He took excellent care of his resort guests. We had a great time at the pool as well. Jorge was always looking after us and he would let us know when he was going to be leaving and who would be looking after us like Gabriella who was also so accommodating. Oscar at the Dorando was a spectacular waiter as we ate there many times and all of the staff were so friendly and willing to please. I wish I could remember everyone’s name and if I had known that it was important for the review I would written them all down. I also have to mention how clean this resort was! Not one single detail was overlooked...

Grand Oasis Riviera: Great family place

Lovely grounds, attentive and well organized kids club. Hotel needs to get a better system for cleaning seaweed. While seaweed itself is natural and unavoidable, leaving it plastic bags for several days is an eyesore to what would otherwise be just a naturally beautiful beach.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Fabulous resort and surrounding area!

We loved our family trip to Dreams Puerto Adventuras. The gated community that surrounds the resort felt safe and secure. We took a walk around the marina and market area every morning. We watched the fishing boats get ready for their day trips while numerous pelicans waited nearby. The resort itself has so much to offer. A nice beach area where the snorkelling was great! We saw many types of fish... even a cuttle fish! The staff were super fun, friendly, helpful and very energetic! A shout o [... read more]ut to the amazing Entertainment crew of Alberto, Giovanni, Bernice and Mitzi !!!!! They welcomed us with open arms and treated our 10 year old son as one of their own!!! We enjoyed the food at all the restaurants. Our favourite spot for lunch was the Seaside Grill where Juan, Edgar and Andreas took such great care in serving us with humour and enthusiasm!!! The Dolphin Discovery is right beside the resort. By far the best swim with the dolphins around for a great price!!! The Amstar reps in the main lobby were very knowledgeable about excursions off the resort. Easy to book. We chose a half day trip to Tulum to see the ruins. Lots of great excursion choices in this area. Will definitely choose to do a snorkel and cenote excursion when we return:) Snorkel reef trips leave right from the marina so you do not have to get in a van or bus to get there. This was by far one of our best family vacations ever!!!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Fantastic Time!

Occidental is a fabulous resort. There is wildlife everywhere and you really feel like it is a cozy resort, but in fact it is huge. The staff is fantastic (Victor the bartender, Fernando the activities guide) and very friendly. The food at the buffets was always fresh and the a la cartes really went out of their way with food and service. I highly recommend this resort and we will definitely return.
