Playa Costa Verde: I have nothing nice to say about this resort, suppose to be a 4+ star resort, I will not even give a 1 star.

Terrible food, terrible drinks, This was my 40th trip to Cuba, never went for the food as I expected that, but that was by far the worst ......that beach was clean but very rocky for the first 10 meters or so going in the water, but then nice sand. I love Cuba and I will go again but never to that place or beach again.

Playa Pesquero: Great time

Staff were great. Rooms clean. Grounds amazing. Food was what one might expect... Cuban... Beans and pork and rice and chicken. Nice selection of tropical fruits. Beach was great. Water clear and some snorkeling and catamaran and Paddle boats Children's program was excellent. This resort seemed to be mostly a Cuban destination. Sometimes the Cuban patrons were not ecologically responsible. Staff however were very good!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort

Service is not satisfactory. We were having issues of hot water. They didn’t change towels. Not enough toilet paper.food wasn’t enough for everyone. If you come little late for breakfast or lunch or dinner, half the item were missing. They don’t replace it . For tea the milk was not good. They won’t put milk in the fridge .it happened two days in a row.We told them but they were still serving it.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nothing like five star resort

This hotel was not at all to the standard of Paradises resort of Mexico.Basic things like bottles of water were not also easily available.At the time of check in we had to wait over an hour,as there was only one clerk.Secondly Wifi was a big issue.Every few minutes the wifi gets cut off.Also out of 8 Resturants,only three were open and reservations was a big issue.They said we were only allowed to reserve four nights,when we had a week to stay.The rest of the days we were asked to go for general [... read more] buffet restaurant.Not much choices of Vegetarian.No drinks in the room fridge and no Tea/Coffee facilities in the room.They mentioned that room service is chargeable when we had All inclusive.

Check in and where to leave luggage till room ready needs improvement. This is a good resort overall. Nice location, close to the city with access to public transportation. It is old, somewhere dated, but clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and ready to help you when you need it.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Amazing Views

The hotel was clean, well kept, with amazing ocean and pool views. I was in building 8 and saw the beautiful ocean and pool every morning. My only complaint is the food situation. Currently there is is NO buffet for dinner. It’s only alla carts, so if you do not like fine dining this won’t be for you. The portions were really small at dinner and oftentimes we had to go to the snack bar to get food afterwards. The people of the resort were all amazing and friendly. Memories Jibacoa: Wonderful resort!

I chose this particular hotel (Memories Jualisco) for the location. I wanted to be close to Havana and I wanted a resort where I would be able to snorkel right from the beach. This resort did not disappoint! The snorkeling was great, lots of fish and nice coral to see right in front of the hotel. The beach was excellent and great for swimming and cooling off, with a nice sandy bottom and calm waters to play in. Lots of bars to choose from, however they were sometimes out of certain items so drinks were limited. In fairness this could be contributed to the import difficulties due to COVID. The restaurants were all good, although I missed the food spices (bring your own) and some condiments. They did not have everything every day, but they managed to keep the salad bar, pasta bar, dessert bar and meat selections well stocked. Excellent selection of fresh fish & meats for grilling every day. The rooms are dated, but very large and functional. Not a lot to do at the resort, but it was great for relaxing (no Boom Boom music all day). However, as I wished Havana is only 45 minutes away. You can get a vintage taxi with driver and guide for a day trip into Havana for $120 Cdn. Our only disappointment is that the evening entertainment was really poor. This could be due to COVID, but the last two times we were in Cuba the evening entertainment was fantastic at both resorts.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good enough resort

Good things: excelent wide beach, a lot of palapases, no need to secure your tent and beach chairs from early morning, they are available any time, a lot of them. No lines to the main buffet, a lot of tables inside. Good room service, all is done in due time. There are a lot of trees , bushes and flowers, very green and clean resort. The pool is fine, I am not very interested in the pool when there is a great ocean very close to the bungalow. Bad things: food could be better in terms of both varieties and taste. A lot of local people who tried to avoid the line for the food preparation station, very often getting more attention from the personell than the foreign tourists. It was a weird and new experience after 2.5 years not being in Cuba due COVID-19. The excursion on the catamaran was good except a lunch, they promised very good sea food lunch, but when we arrived in the restaurant, they brought one lobster tail for 5 people, one table spoon of rice, and tiny portion of fries that looked was prepared at least 3 days ago. The price for the excursion was pretty high, $USD 110/ person, and having nothing to eat after taking a breakfast at 7 am and 3 snorkeling stops plus delfinarium- it was really bad experience! A lot of mosquitoes also did not add a good feelings but it is this time of the year to claim I assume.

Melia Varadero: Melia Varadero

We enjoyed a week at the Melia Varadero. The Cuban employees at all level were beautiful and very accommodating however there were many extremely rude cuban guests at the resort. we did not let this ruin our vacation and maintained our manners . Food was as we expected but the beach at this resort is a real let down. Rocks everywhere. we would walk to other resort to enjoy the water the rooms can really use some attention

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Quiet and Attentive!

My third trip to Cuba and would absolutely stay at this resort again! The people were just lovely and friendly and really made the whole experience wonderful for us. Food for breakfast and lunch was fantastic - lots to choose from! Dinner was a but repetitive but not unexpected in Cuba and still good. The beach is just perfect for snorkeling and windsurfing or sailing. We will definitely be back!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beware!!

SUNWING should be ashamed for listing this property as a 5 star and hidden gem...shame on you! Our experience was less than stellar to say the least. The hotel is run down and in need of serious repair to the point there are safety issues with walkways and railings. Basic room amenities like hair dryers, lights, umbrellas and such just don't work. We brought our concerns to the hotels and they did send staff to look at things but nothing was ever resolved so we finally just gave up. The service is what you would expect from a three star hotel with the butler service a complete waste of money. Four days requesting pillows and nothing, lost our day trip which was included ($200) and the list goes on. The hotel manager said he would look into things but again you constantly felt you were just being placated. They say the fish rots from the head down and any management we dealt with just seemed indifferent; sad really. The working staff was completely different; attentive and smiling always. Couple of shout outs and I'm bad with names so very sorry. Our yoga teacher, dance instructor and the ladies in the Italian restaurant and swim up bar OMG top notch. The people behind the food stations were truly a pleasure to be served by as well as the table staff. The resort used to be a Sandals and from what I garnered it was a treat to stay here. We met two couples that had been coming back for 8/9 years who told us what it was like and finished with they would never come back again.

Brisas Santa Lucia: Not a happy camper

I have been here many times and this was by far the worst trip ever .I didnt get the room I requested. The one I got for the first 2 days had a toilet that didnt flush, wasnt fastened down shower sprayed all over and the light switch didnt work. the wallplug was hanging out .The other room I had came with a mouse that ate my candies and bar soap The neighbours above me flooded their bathtub and I had wet floors for 2 days. Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Beautiful resort.

While this is an absolutely beautiful resort it is definately struggling to start up after Covid and lack of guests for 2 years. The food is mediocre. Only two restaurants open, which is understandable seeing as maybe the resort was 1/4 full. No activities yet, but they made an attempt on our last day, so hopefully.... Wifi, forget about it. You are on and off like a yoyo and sad to say but by the third day we had this super long user ID and password memorized from logging on so much.  [... read more]Also the attitude of some of the staff was surprising considering they should be happy people are coming back. Others were awesome!! Misquitoes and flys are abundant. All that being said, given time to reboot I would still give it another try. It really is a beautiful resort. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort

This was my second time at this resort.The first time was 9 years ago and it certainly could use some freshening up. I strongly recommend you upgrade to privledge.The food and service there is exceptional compared to the buffet and restaurants.Roberto in the privileged bar went over and above for all of his guests as did all of the staff working the privileged restaurant. The jeep safari was one of the best excursions I have ever been on in Cuba.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Getting Started

This hotel opened 2 months ago after sitting 2 years from the completion of construction. Covid delayed the opening no doubt. The occupancy was somewhere around 25% even with Cubans in for the weekend. Being a new hotel they did a good job of getting us in and settled. The building was large and beautiful but due to occupancy was only running the main lobby , pool, one snack bar and beach facilities. The beach equipment was new and readily available (Peter the sailor was great) also Ranaldo the beach waiter was tireless is running for our drinks. The Covid protocols were masks for all the staff at all times , hand sanitizers everywhere and guests in the buffet were not admitted without a mask and reminded to wear them when moving about getting food.

Very nice resort. Well kept . Amazing grounds and staff. Not a party resort, perfect for a relax vacation. Nice beaches, there are two of them. Food is ok for Cuba. Bring some spices and you will be okay. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Bad experience!

A lot of cockroaches in the restaurant. We saw them over the tables, chairs, so many of them on the floor and on the food trays. A lot of mosquitoes, we got up in the morning with lots of bites on our bodies. The bites on my parents-in-law’s bodies suggested bad bugs. The services was bad unless you tip them well.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good resort

Resort need update,but overall it’s okay.The staff was very polite and friendly.The food was very good.The beach it’s really nice with white sand,pools are nice and clean.We had great time.Stayed eleven days at the resort.
