Tryp Cayo Coco: Beautiful Beach. Great for Swimming.

The white sandy beaches did not disappoint. The hotel on the other hand did. It is not a 4 star. Rooms are old and shabby along with the lounge areas. Had to change room due to toilet not functioning but could not change until next day as resort was full. It was not pleasant to stay 30 hrs in a room with a non functioning toilet. Food was pretty good for Cuba.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful week in the sun (sept 3-10 2014)

this was the second time we have stayed at Memories Flamenco Beach Resort - this time we took our 3 daughters with us (17,18 & 22yrs old) and 1 of their friends. The girls had a blast, especially liking the pool party (3.30pm each day). The staff were always pleasant and extremely courteous. Our rooms were spacious, wonderfully located in block 1 (we had requested 1 of our 3 rooms to be disabled friendly) and it was fantastic, all 3 rooms in close proximity to each other and so close to all the amenities, it made things very easy to get around (BIG Thumbs Up to the staff for blocking us into those rooms) literally just got home and already starting to think of the next time we will go to Memories Flamenco Beach Resort

Melia Cayo Coco: very nice resort clean ,service was good&average

nice resort if you like adult only. i enjoyed MELIA' family resorts much more.we stayed at melia varadero earlier and found it to be not as boring.it was our choice type of resort .I would not hesitate to book a melia resort again .but not adult only

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing

We had a group of 8 and we loved the resort. The entertainment was the best I've seen on any resort. Amazing talent. The buffet was very good offering fresh food every day. The beach was beautiful and the pools were great with chair availability all the time. I highly recommend this resort and would go back myself.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Friendly Resort

This is not a fancy hotel. There is not a town nearby, or even many other hotels, so it feels a bit remote. However, it's a great spot to just hangout at the beach or pool, or to go snorkeling or sailing. The rooms are very clean, the staff are competent and very friendly. Many who visit become regulars. I've been 14 times and I'm far from the most frequent visitor. It can be a bit windy on the beach, especially in winter months.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Simple with no vegetarian option

Our experience was not good, despite rooms were clean! Our fridge didn't work for four days, no vegetarian food option except some salad and bread. The meat was not cooked. We had a group of six Canadian families during our stay and all lost weight! The last night performance was insulting to Canadian and my son suffered allergies due to entertainers pouring cream, flour and egg on his face as part of routine stage invitation to act ! Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Cayo Caco

The beach is worth the stay, we didn't stray far from it , it was so breathtaking but the hotel itself is not a 4 star, fridge wasn't stocked, food was just Ok, very repetitive. Overall nice family vacation and the people as always are lovely.

Tryp Cayo Coco: You get what you pay for

This is our 2nd time to a tryp resort, and also this is our 3rd time to Cayo Coco. We just love the beach so we didn't quite care which resort we go to in Cayo Coco, so we've chosen Tryp on a bargain price. The hotel looks beautiful and the pools and amenities are amazing. I went just last week with my husband and I am 6 and half month pregnant. Before we depart, I've emailed the hotel to clarify some questions, it took them a long time to get back to me but when they finally did, everything we [... read more]nt well. And they have kept their promise to arrange more bottled water for me per day, that was very thoughtful and great. Here are some pros and cons that we've experienced from the hotel, hope this will help for whoever is thinking on a trip there. HOTEL ROOM: We stayed a bit further from the pool and the stage because we requested peach and quiet, so the hotel upgraded us to a Ocean view when we got there. The view is stunning but the room was not the cleanest. There are two double bed in the room instead of one king bed (which we've requested). We didn't want to make a big deal so we stayed in it, but just the 2nd day we were there, one of the double bed leg broke. Thank goodness I wasn't sitting on it at the time, otherwise the shock for the baby and I would be unthinkable. My husband was trying to fix it himself (he is very handy), but after he checked out the bed, he said those legs are temporarily nailed on to the bed, and the plastic legs broke, there is no way he can fix it... So we stayed on one double bed for the rest of our vacation. It's a bit tight since I have a big belly, but we've managed. So a world of advise, please double check your room equipments. Other than that, we just found the room is not as clean as we'd expected. We've killed two cockroaches during our stay which freaked me out, as soon as we came back home, I've sensitized and washed every possible thing I could. We've found the cockroaches on our last day of staying, so I only had one sleepless night. But if you are afraid of bugs like I am, please re-consider...and we think the cockroaches are coming from the AC vent, because they are extremely dirty. You know how duct can get dirty if no one cleans it for a long time. RESORT: The resort however, it's stunning. We loved the pools, and we love the beach. We've also been to another resort (Memories Caribe) in Cayo Coco, their beach is better than Tryp if you want to compare. Their beach is a bit more calm and steady. We found the beach at Tryp is a big choppy, but still beautiful and blue water white sand, you can't ask for more. As for the water sports, we don't think there are lots of complimentary water sports with the resort. You will have to pay for snorkel if you want to. The pools are nice, they have two big pools and one small pool far from the main pool. That's where we mainly rest ourselves everyday since our room was not our favourite through out the trip. FOOD/BEVERAGE: I did not drink any alcohol due to my pregnancy, but my husband did. He has no complain, but just one thing we've noticed on our last day there... If you want pineapple juice, or any other juice, the only bar has it is the lobby bar. My husband loves pineapple juice and pineapple rum, but the pool bar, restaurant bar, snack bar all said they don't have any pineapple juice. Until we were ready to board out bus, we asked the lobby bar, they said they have it. So if there are some drink you don't get at the pool bar, try the lobby bar, they seems to be a bit more variety. We did not bother with a la carte, we stayed with buffet. The buffet is great, all the staff are very nice, especially the grill and the cook stations. You won't have any problem eating at this resort, as a pregnant woman, there are lots things I wasn't suppose to eat, but I did anyways, I had no problem with my stomach. So I'd say food is pretty good at Tryp. CHECK OUT: We were going to pay for late check out, but the front desk told us they will provide a courtesy room for us to change into. So we did not bother with the late check out. At Memories Caribe, we were able to book our courtesy room for a certain time period, so we were going to do the same thing here, but they told us they don't book courtesy rooms, first come first serve. So when we come back to ask for the courtesy room, she told us to go LINE UP at room xxx. No room key, she said someone is there already. We went there, people opened the door and was shocked. They said the front desk told them to bring the room key back once they are done. Also there is no fresh towels in the courtesy room, my husband has to ran back and force from the front desk to the room to ask for towels, but in the end, there were still no towels (even though the front desk said they've sent towels). So we just dried off with our own clothes. While we were showering, there are other people opening the door with the key, and thank goodness my husband was guarding the door for me, otherwise it would be a disaster... Overall, we think it's worth what we paid for, but wouldn't pay more than what we paid for to come back to this resort. They are suppose to be a 4 stars resort, but we think for a 4 stars resort, there are way too many complaining to do. Sure enough the pool, the beach and the food made us happy, but still we shouldn't have that many unhappy experiences. Hopefully Tryp will improved their maintenance on their rooms and also the coordination of their services. We just don't want other people to struggle and frustrated by what we went through. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: nice resort

this resort was not bad. the grounds were kept nice and clean, people and service was great. i expected the room to be nicer, it was clean but just older with mould in the bathroom and bugs stuck to the walls that they could have cleaned off. the food was'nt great. there was no variety at all. beach was beautiful and entertainment was great every night.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good bang for your buck!

The beach water was amazing, but i agree with everyone elses recommendation to bring watershoes, there is rock for about 2 feet of rock along the shore line. Some places up to 5 feet in. This being said, as we were there they had a bulldozer at the end of the beach that apparently is starting to dig out the rock at the end of the week. If the rock is gone i'd go back to this resort again for sure! Location was great too! The staff at the resort were amazing too; one of the best i've ever seen!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Hotel fair, amazing beach!

As stated above, as far as the hotel goes, I would rate it not more than "fair". It was our 2nd stay at this hotel, and compared to 2 years ago, not much has changed. At our last stay, we were told (and saw ourselves) that "renovations" were started, but 2 years later, not much has changed. We asked to stay in a "renovated" room, and when they took us to take a look to see if we would be happy with it, well, all that changed was the ceramics on the floor, that's it! We asked to be placed in block 6, which is where we stayed the last time, close to everything, and the room was just as "renovated" LOL as the one they showed us in block 12. Food was ok, we managed + the lobster was quite good at the seafood resto, wife and I ate there twice. Drinks were very very disappointing, couldn't get a decent rum & coke, coke as flat as pancakes :( Other dinks were hit & miss. Cuban staff as friendly as they get, but this time around there were some, very few, with not the same friendly Cuban attitude, but hey, we all have bad days...I guess?! Apart from the negativity, we now have been to Cuba 5 times as a family, and the reason is simple....Beautiful Beaches!!! We are not picky when it comes to food so we get back just fine, however I do believe it is time that this hotel gets a major facelift, I know people that have been there at least 20 years ago, and 20 years later not much has changed :( ***Not sure if I would recommend***

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great time at this resort

I spent a week with my granddaughters at this resort. One granddaughter is a very picky eater, but she was able to find good pizza, pasta, eggs and chicken. The other granddaughter loves seafood so she enjoyed the food. The Fontella Restarant gave us great service and the food was well presented and very tasty. Spanish guitars, piano, clarinet, singers, every night there was different music. I look forward to returning to this resort in October.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: EXCELLENT RESORT

We had a fantastic time. Rooms were spacious and clean. Service was quick and efficient at all times. We were upgraded to Diamond and the people who handled the chairs at the ocean were so friendly!! Food was very good, no complaints. We definitely would go back.

grounds were very well kept, food was great, the beach to the left of the resort was very nice and could walk all the way to the next resort on the beach. The hobby cat ride that you could do for free was great--thanks Roger. Loved the memosas in the morning. Great stay.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Fantasic Resort!

The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were very well kept. It was nice having a beautiful walk each morning around the resort as we went to breakfast, the snack bar, or the beach. Several 2 storey buildings was a lot less noisy and more enjoyable than being cooped up in a single several-storey hotel where you would need to wait for elevators. These lovely suites all featured a wonderful view of the resort/grounds. Fairly good variety of food and excellent hambergers and pizzas at the snack b [... read more]ar (open 24hrs). It would be nice to have a little better lighting at night, especially on the night we arrived as it was difficult finding our way around to our suite. Also, it is strongly advised that you apply bug spray before leaving the airport in late July. They are relentless! However, the resort is sprayed each moring and evening and it is much more manageable. Lastly, pack a large thermos/insolated drinking bottle because the flimsy plastic cups are very small (e.g. needing 3-4 cups of beer to = 1 bottle, as beer is on tap).

Melia Cayo Coco: Good hotel

Nice hotel but it is not a 5 or 4 star, run down and since we have been there 2 years ago the hotel reduced the food, eg.from lobster to lobster paella only and the hotel redused the staff as well, we paid same price but it is not the same any more as it was 2 years ago.

Melia Cayo Coco: Best ever Cuban vacation

The hotel is a 5 star facility "ADULT ONLY", which was exactly what we were looking for. The service is great, the grounds are kept well and the food was outstanding. We will be back in the near future.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Relaxing and beaufiul

Grounds were kept so lush, rooms were clean and modern. great variety of food and the staff were all friendly and helpful. What a beautiful beach to lay and walk on. the pool bar is fun and refreshing with good music.

Tryp Cayo Coco: We Would Go Back In An Instant!

The Tryp is an amazing resort compared to others in Cuba. The management goes out of their way to please. The food is excellent with lots of choices. The beach is lovely and clean with plenty of beach chairs. We especially liked the quiet pool area. The bartenders were wonderful there. The restaurant on the beach is good. They even had lobster there one day for 10 cuc. It was very warm when we went because we went in June, would choose to go at another time of year next time. The rooms were a little dated but their was plenty of hot water with good water pressure. There is a lot of walking involved at this resort if you stay close to the beach. If you have mobility problems you should stay in a building closer to the lobby. One week is plenty to stay in Cayo Coco unless you can afford to take some trips away from the resorts.
