Hotel Playa Paraiso: Nice and new

Staff was friendly and fun and the resort was sparkling due I think to it's newness. It was a large resort with a lot of walking to get around. I prefer a smaller resort. The buffet was typical but the biggest drawback was the wait times for the cook-to-order stations. There does not need to be a pasta station at every meal - pasta in warming trays at dinner time would be sufficient. The meat station with cook-to-order steaks etc was excellent. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Fantastic

We were at this resort from 19-26 August. From the time we got there ( late ) till we left a week later it was amazing. The staff were so good and responsive to our every need. Food was great.Lots to choose from. Entertainment was very good also. The only thing that did not excite us was the beach itself. The service on the beach more than made up for it. No complaints of any kind.

Club Caribe Cayo Coco: Not my fave!

First time to Cuba. Beach was beautiful. Hotel was ok. No water or anything stocked in the fridge but was able to get a few bottles. Lots of crabs and lizards around the grounds. They don't bother you but if you are skittish, not the place for you. I think because it was hot there were a lot of little bugs...even in the buffet restaurant..on the ables. Only had a couple of bites. As a vegetarian, food was not the best. Fresh papaya and guava was lovely, but very little unless you are a carbs fan [... read more]. People were pretty friendly but some of the bartenders were more interested in serving the locals that were there with day passes. Ran out of plates at almost every meal as well and had to wait 4-5 minutes. Only reason I went there was because of the good last minute price. Would have been extremely upset if I had paid full price.

Hotel Vigia: Excellent Resort

This was my 4th visit to Sol Cayo Guillermo and it did not let me down. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Beach is amazing. The buffet was plentiful and excellent variety to offer. Definitely will return.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Bright & Shiny Resort

Having read the reviews on Cayo Coco I was prepared for the lack of night life available off resort but was still taken aback on how quickly things comes to a standstill at the actual resort at night. Even the menu at the snack bar becomes very limited after 11 pm. Being the newest hotel on Cayo Coco when we went in April 2014, this resort is bright & shiny, however periodically the stench of sewage was overwhelming. The rooms are very up to date for Cuban standards. The facilities were well kep [... read more]t and we saw constant maintenance to keep it that way even though it is so new (very unusual for Cuba). The food was better than I have experienced in Cuba at other resorts and there was a good selection. Don't be in a hurry to attend the buffet, give the stations time to heat up and maintain the food temperatures. The pool is great with a separation for the children and adult sections. I found the beach to be less than enticing although the view is priceless. The available shade shelters at both the beach and pool is lacking. I give top marks to Derek & Franklin from the snack bar for making our group feel welcome and have fun. They went out of their way and were fabulous. Yamella from the Cuban Restaurant went far beyond to make my sister's birthday a memorable one. Thank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed interacting with you. Joe from the fitness team kept a number of our party involved and entertained, he was quite outgoing. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the gentleman from the telephone room that was so helpful, forgive me as I would love to give him the credit he deserves. The rest of the staff at the resort could learn much from these five. Being a new hotel I was surprised to find the rest of the staff remote and less than helpful. We were a large group (six which quickly grew to 10 with new friends) and very willing to tip generously, however all of our attempts to interact with the lobby staff in the evenings as well as the restaurant staff were completely ignored. Was this a language barrier? Perhaps but this is a service industry and guests should be made to feel welcome and special. This needs to be addressed by the hotel management. The swim up/pool bar was staffed with only 1 person serving walk-up guests as well as swim-up guests on 2 different levels. At times the number of guests requiring service was overwhelming for 1 person and the wait was long. There is no consistency in the juice served at the bars throughout the complex, therefore no consistency in the drinks available. Each time you ordered the same drink it could be made completely different and taste different as well, sometimes good, sometimes not. More training is required for the staff on how to make drinks consistently and more effort is needed to provide them with the tools to do so. Overall we had a very enjoyable time but are in not in a hurry to return (unless my husband would like to experience what he missed). People are what keep me going back to the same hotel in Veradero. This is what is lacking here.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Just a great getaway from Montreal.

We have been there 3 times in the past year and it is always a great trip. We have talked to other travelers staying at other resorts only to hear how much they wished they had stayed at Tryp instead. The trip is simple and easy being only minutes from the Airport. The staff is very warm and friendly and will receive you well at Tryp. The facilities and excursions should keep you busy and entertained while enjoying the beauty of the area. The food has always been very good offering you lots of  [... read more]choices. The rooms are Clean Comfortable and nice. Perhaps a little renovation would make them 5 star but you won't be wanting while there. If I can offer a suggestion to those travelling there, Say Hola to the people working there and open the door to new friends to look forward to seeing on a return visit.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Not the best

I took a trip to Cayo Coco July 10 to 17 2014. the trip was a disaster. the room we got at the Memories Caribe had bed bugs and frogs in the room and smelt strongly of mold also my ipad2 was stolen from our room.After complaining they did change us to a second floor room the next day, it also had bedbugs and the best they could do was spray the room. It is my understanding that all staff are brought in from the nearby town Moron so it had to be a staff who was stealing, because they would be the [... read more] only people who knew the windows were unlocked and what the process was on arrival.. I feel somewhat lucky others lost a lot more than I did..When reported to the front desk the police were to be called but never ever came. The way they work it is you arrive there.. they take your passport and visa and send you to your room before returning the passport or visa back to you, then they tell you to come back in a half hour, little do you know but they have left the patio window unlocked and while you are gone to get your passport and visa your room is rifled through and things are taken, you are not allowed to take your own luggage to your room and when the bell boy brought our luggage we had to pay him 5 pesos which was the equivalent of 5.81 Canadain. The staff is constantly asking for tips.. if you don't leave a tip at dinner you just plain and simple do not get service, I chose no service. The Cuban tour associate is no help at all, I ask if we could end our vacation early and was told there were no flights available and if there was a flight I would have to pay another full fare to end the vacation early. The front desk staff were quite helpful most times. The food was really good for the most part, cereal and milk would have been a real asset.I would not stay there again...

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great Resort.....But

Room was adequate. Beach was awesome, pool was great. Nightly entertainment superb. Staff go above and beyond. Not so great: food, mosquitos, small change missing from room. Horrible: "S Trip" organized trip for teens. Many teens were drunk, swearing, injuring themselves. Sadly trip coincided with this "S Trip".

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Loved the resort ..

This is a smaller resort than we usually go to, rooms were very clean, employees were very friendly, fun and very helpful and the food was good. LOVE THE BEACH, that is what we went for and we were not disappointed. The Pools were clean, and the pizza at the pool is a must try....it was delicious.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Could be better

First the good things: 1. the beach at Cayo Coco really nice 2. price 3. food was ok 4. Entertainment was fun Not so good things: 1. stagnant smelly water in the lobby area 2. mosquitoes 3. Unpleasant staff (specially at snack bar) Even tips don't make bid difference. We really like Ricardo, Fis and Elder Lorenzo 4. the property is in need of repair 5. Towel with permanent rusty stains 6. the dogs were running in packs around the hotel 7. room service was not good at all. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average

This resort is exactly a 3 star vacation. No more, no less. Our rooms were cute, cozy, and nicely air conditioned (although throughout the night it made sharp noises that woke us up). They really do try to make the best with what they have, and this is especially so with the food. The food was pretty bland but this is common across many resorts in Cuba. I really wished that I brought peanut butter and jam as they had DELICIOUS bread but nothing but tasteless butter to put on it. The beach was  [... read more]EXTREMELY SHALLOW. No matter how far we ventured off in the water it was always knee high deep. There was a lot of kelp in the water but I had water shoes (which I would highly suggest). We ended up walking to the resort next door (Iberostar which is a 4 star resort) and swam in their beach which was absolutely beautiful, clean, deep, and no kelp. Service was great and the people working at the resort were resourceful and kind. Overall this is a 3 star resort. Do not have expectations going in, have an open mind.

Melia Cayo Coco: nice stay

we like cuba , especially varadaro. we tried cayo coco 1st time and another adult melia resort again. loved the piano bar nightly entertainment, atmosphere . we found the buffet very good ( lobster on cuba night) and the 3 a la cartes were 3 for 3 in pleasure & atmosphere and found dishes that we liked in them all. we loved the beach, played in the water & walked for miles; though the yellow flag was up for the entire week and could not water sport. the rooms were nice; quite and clean. took a t [... read more]axi full day trip to camuguay; reasonable, because we have done the usual day trips before. on the down side, there are always a couple staff that need a little attitude upgrade. we heard Spanish comments about the health of Cuban teeth vs tourists. maybe too many tooth brushes for the above average income of many resort staff, or that a dollar is better than a tooth brush. and one bar tender. the rest of the staff were over the top, as were have found all over cuba. the pool was nice but really not for a swim. it seemed 50 % of the visitors were 50 plus so at in 50's were were fine with this mix.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very good resort not so good beach.

Very good food, friendly stuff but not so good beach( very rocky make sure to bring shoes for water)...Michael Jackson show must see. Excellent cocktails. Pool area very nice and there is a lot of good entertainment.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great place!

Everyone at Pestana is so pleasant and helpful we stayed twice at the Pestana. : The food could be a bit better but everything is very clean. I think what makes this a great place to stay is the staff they are great people. (We met some Canadian people that complained about almost everything when we were there I guess they forget that they are in Cuba for one thing and I think that they were just not very happy people in life...)

Tryp Cayo Coco: had a good vacation

i liked the buildings are not far from the ocean, good entertainment, good restaurants, and above all- lively and curtsies staff. good friends,and neighbors, and a good weather. the workout facility could could use a little uplift.....!

Hotel Vigia: Sol Club Cayo Guillermo

If you are looking for a small,quiet, romantic retreat this IS the place. Loved the beach, beautiful white sands and a very welcoming ocean. The food was great compared to other Cuban resorts, the staff was great and very hospitable. Didn't spend any time at the pools.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach

The hotel we stayed in overlooked the pool. Which my husband and i enjoyed since we like to people watch. PROS:The room was clean. The beach was beautiful, white sand and the colour of the water was amazing. Staff very friendly. Very good price for the flight and hotel. The Michael Jackson show is a must to watch. CONS: Had issues with our toilet but was fixed very quickly. Our patio door didn't close completely. The food was ok. I ate the pasta and fruit mostly. A La Carte Restaurants were not [... read more] very good. They have a policy of now Towel reserving the chairs, but didn't implement it. I watched people have towels in one area of the pool and sit in another pool area all day without going to original chairs and we didn't have any chairs to sit in. (ANNOYING)

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Dated but Blau'ill get this property in ship shape

Friendly staff, distinctive property design and we loved the canal pools that we could roll out of bed and right into! Beautiful beach! A quiet secluded tourist only resort area. Next time we will rent a car and explore surrounding towns- cannot wait!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Paradise

We just simply loved it all!!! The beach was so beautiful. The people (staff) so friendly. The food was so so good, loved the daily fresh fish, fruit and everything else. Room was also great! Weather WOW....so hot, loved it! Have been to Cuba more than 10 times but this was first time to this resort. Loved it so much that we are going back in December and bringing my son so that he too can have an amazing experience. Thank you Cuba for being so beautiful!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Memories - Great Value

If you are looking for a very reasonable, low key holiday, this is a good choice. The service we got from our tripcentral rep, Amanda, was great. We went at low season (July) so things were pretty quiet and we could always get a pool or beach chair. The food is what you've heard for Cuba. The best food was the fish lunch at the beach. The rooms are big and clean. The beach is beautiful, but yes, bring water shoes for the coral. We only went on the catermal day trip and I wouldn't suggest spendin [... read more]g that much money on that trip. We weren't as thrilled with the service as others have written, but it was fine. The dancers are great - and they work every night. It would have been nice to have more of a variety of entertainment at night. And the biggest complaint is that there are no fans in the open areas like the lobby or the theatre.
