Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Great Resort.Very New and Modern

Loved the Hotel except for the nightlife.Not a great kids resort at nighttime.Great Beaches and service was excellent.Food the same as any other hotel there.Recommend the restaurants in Varadero or Havana. Maids and staff were impeccable.Cuba is a clean and friendly place to visit.Very safe!! Walk the streets with the family at night with no problems.Another thing is that the pool and Bars except the lobby aren't open at night.The shows are amazing but start at 9:30pm. Hotel Los Cactus: Very good Hotel

It's very good hotel! It's for sure 4 star hotel, not like many others with same rating 4 stars in Varadero. We were in many places in Cuba, this one really corresponds to its stars. Thank you tripcentral.ca !

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Food just OK but pool and staff were pretty good

I'll mention the bad first. We had some trouble getting used to the food, we were expecting better but we found some things that were OK each day and we ate those but also the serving staff were not really very attentive. Don't come here for the food. Three of the 4 elevators werent working but the buildings are only 5 stories high and the lobby is at floor 3 so its not a big problem. As for the drinks they sometimes used flat pop so I only got pop based drinks from the places with the machines but that includes the beach bar so that was good. Now the good, The pool and swim up bar are great and they have a nice beach. we played beach volleyball everyday and the animation groups was very nice. Ping pong was also fun but dont count on beating the attendant, he's very good. The standard rooms are nice and comfy but the suites are great, and they are not too expensive , they are a few hundred more per week Overall we enjoyed the stay and the price was right But this doesnt really compare to a four star in mexico or dominican republic or really anywhere else.

Grand Memories Varadero: Exellent resort

We very much enjoyed our stay. The food was great, the rooms were kept very clean, staff was fantastic, service was great, the grounds were kept clean and neat. I think the only thing I was a little disappointed with was the beach. Having been to Varadero several times and have always enjoyed the beach area, this beach has a lot of 'wash up' from the ocean (weeds). Other than that our holiday was fantastic.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Resort

Beautiful Resort. Staff is very friendly and go out of way to give great service. Very well maintained. Food is average. Speciality restaurant we book Mediterranean and Japanese and both were good. Beautiful long beech with white sand.

Melia Marina Varadero: good hotel and trip

the food and services is good. but the door is always blocked and cannot open. please fix this issue asap. teh beach is not clean. The hotel should hire someone to clean the beach. one day, the water heating machine was broken and the outside spa is very cold.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great Resort!

We stayed at the Grand Memories Varadero Nov 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The grounds were lovely and the beach pristine. Osmary, the bartender at the pool bar near the waterfall, was outstanding!! Very attentive, we didn't have to order a drink once, they kept flowing! Only had a chance to eat at the Oriental a la carte, the food was great. The buffets were fine, nothing to write home about but we could always find something to satisfy us. Muthu Playa Varadero: One of the worst in Varadero

I have written several reviews over the past few years. It is my hope that these will help future travellers to Varadero and other places that I visit. I have visited Varadero on about 6 occasions, and this is my first time staying at Hotel Playa De Oro. I will provide to you here my unbiased review. After my second night at this so-called resort, I spoke to the Air Transat representative at the resort, Margarita. I expressed the following concerns and let her know that I will be writing a revi [... read more]ew on the establishment. She told me that she would provide this list to the management, and that a manager would be contacting me -- that never happened. I then saw Margarita a few days later and she asked me if some changes had already begun. I told her that indeed they were repairing some of the sidewalks around the establishment that would be a disaster for any woman wearing high heels, especially at night time. They did not repair the concrete surrounding the pool, however. Notably, none of my other concerns were addressed which I will list as follows: 1. Men's washroom across from coffee bar. This was the first public washroom that I found. The urinal actually had no pipes underneath! If I had urinated there, all of it would've ended up on the floor. I was told later by Margarita that this was a staff washroom. There was no sign to that effect. I feel sorry for their employees. 2. The pool areas are badly in need of repair. The concrete simply needs to be resurfaced. 3. The hallways in the hotel accommodations need to be painted. The walls look absolutely filthy and there is a great deal of gouging that seems to have occurred on the walls. Need some touch up and paint. 4. Getting my luggage to the room was slow. After checking in, it took the bellhop between 15 to 20 minutes to come down to the front desk to take my luggage. I was not given my room number otherwise I would've gone to the room myself with my luggage. This was absolutely unnecessary. 5. The bar fridge was empty. In every other resort I've stayed in in Varadero, the bar fridge has always had drinks in it and water. 6. There was no water in the room. We were told that there would be water in our room and this was not the case. I needed to come down to the front desk to ask for water. 7. There was no telephone in the room. All of the other hotels I have stayed in have had telephones. It meant that I had to come down to the front desk which was in a different building every time I had a complaint. 8. No directions were provided for anything at this resort. There was no instruction as to how to lock the balcony door, on how to to turn off the air conditioning which was quite cold, or how to use the shower – none of these were obvious in fact. At most resorts, you get a floorplan of the establishment and you get a list of the activities and what time these occur each day. At most places, you also get a list of the hours that the restaurants are open. This was not provided. There was no list of activities anywhere that I could find. So instead, the recreational leaders would just simply try to draw people together for an event at the time of the event. I like to plan my day around some of these activities but I was unable to do so. 9. One of the elevators did not work through the duration. I believe I read this about this place on someone else's review. They are simply not fixing it. One day, the second and only other elevator was down forcing everybody to use the stairs. 10. The small table in my room wobbled. This was not a big concern, but it is annoying when you put glasses on a table and they are likely to fall off if you do not hold them. 11. The toilet seat was half broken off. This small repair was undertaken. I am just surprised I had to ask for that to be done. There ought to be inspections of these units before people come into them. 12. Almost all of the equipment in the gym was broken. I am sure that is been the case for a long period of time. 13. The garbage bin by the beach bar was broken on the bottom and one day there was garbage simply strewn about. Just a bloody mess. 14. There were only about 12 palapas at this resort. I noticed that the next resort there were at least three times as many. What that meant is most of the time you could not find a shady spot in which to read your book.

Club Kawama: Another wonderful vacation at Kawama!!!!

It's always a pleasure to arrive back at Kawama. We've been coming here since 2000 and have almost always had a wonderful time. Landing in Hurricane Sandy put a slight damper on our first couple of days back in 2012, but even then, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Special kudos go out to Leida for always trying so hard to accommodate everyone's room preferences and ensuring that everyone is comfortable. Madelaine, Dayne, Nancy, Pepe, Peruschio, Gretell, Evan, Fernando, Natasha and Riebel, just to name a few, make each trip a pleasure. Kawama is an old hotel that won't appeal to everyone. If you want 5 star surroundings, Kawama is not the place for you. BUT, if you want a small, friendly, comfortable resort on the best part of Varadero beach, within walking distance of downtown, then come to Kawama. We love it!!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing location

This is a very beautiful resort, Got off the bus and was greeted with warm and friendly smiles, got to the check-in counter and more smiles and comforting greetings, process was a breeze they knew we were coming and everything was prepared, with drinks in hand we were escorted to our room, which was very inviting and spacious. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort

The hotel was great. Room was large and comfortable. Butler service was not the greatest. Speciality restaurants were very good. Unless it was a fantastic deal we wouldn't go back. We asked for a breakfast sent to our room at 6.00 am prior to going on a tour. It never came.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good resort could use some upgrades.

This is another good iberostar property. It is not too big to walk around and the grounds are clean and the gardens are beautiful. The rooms are very nice and roomy and have a shower and a tub, they are cleaned everyday and the bar is stocked every two days. There is a coffee maker and hair dryer and we had an iron and ironing board. The beach is beautiful and the staff is great. We went to the romantic, Italian and Japanese restaurants and they were good and were worth booking however the buffe [... read more]t was the same everyday, there was no salads and no fresh fruit to eat, however I know this going to Cuba. What I did not expect was my husband and I coming home from our trip with viruses and put on medication and sick as dogs. While we were at the resort at least five people with our group got sick and had to see the doctor and didn’t even leave there room the whole week. I believe it must have been from the buffet. If we didn’t get sick this would be a very nice resort, so unfortunately for that reason I wouldn’t recommend it.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Fantastic Resort

We just got back last week from the Royalton and the whole trip was great! The people were so very nice and personable. The food was fabulous, I have no idea why people would say the food is bland. We did not have not have even one meal that was disappointing. The service and the people are top notch. We would definitely go back.

Club Kawama: 15th Time!

While this resort isn't for everyone we continue to return here for the amazing beach, the friendly staff and the location. This is one of the oldest hotels in Varadero so many things are often not working or need repair but it still has a unique charm. It has so much history. It's worth booking a superior room and staying here means you are closer to the old downtown and closer to visit the surrounding villages and towns.

Starfish Varadero: good value for money

I did not stay at the renovated part of the hotel, so some doors and walls in my section were in need of a coat of paint. My room looked a bit “worn”, and a broken lamp wasnt fixed although was reported after the first day, but it was clean and comfortable. Overall, I thought the hotel was quite nice for the price... the pools, grounds, and beach areas were nice and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was typical of all-inclusives; lots of variety, mostly goo [... read more]d but nothing special, some hot dishes not really “hot”, but with so many options, it wasn't an issue. We ate at the “Spoons” fish restaurant one evening and had a lovely meal of lobster. (You need to reserve in the morning for dinner reservations at the restaurants.)

Melia Las Antillas: Great Resort for a week of Relaxation

Beautiful beach, Food was very good, Service was amazing, rooms were clean and spacious. Quiet resort, not much going on after midnight. We went for some night life but disco was always empty. Over all I would recommend this resort for people looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

Club Kawama: Home away from hime

Again it was an amazing stay. Even tho Irma has hit they managed to reopen very fast for us repeaters. Of course lots have been damaged but everything is working and under repaira. The only downfall was the lack of food and alcohol. There was only 1 bottle of certain king for the day or until the order comes I. Not very pleasant. But the staff, the beach and temperature was at its best!!

Hotel Los Cactus: Just OK but not ready to receive a person with accessibility needs

the grounds were pretty well looked after a lots of green space, the rooms need a lot of work including bathroom renovations, the facilities were OK the exercise venue was closed, the pool needs upgrading , overall the resort needs to be upgraded, its one of the oldest resorts in Varadero and over the years not much has been done, this was my 2nd time in the resort and I found that it was operated a lot better under the Breezes outfit than it is now, also one evening at dinner the resort ran  [... read more]out of red wine. The good thing was the beach no one can complain about it.

Hotel Los Cactus: resort needs a lot of work

The grounds were properly looked after, the bathrooms need to be up dated, refurbished to 2017 standards the pillows need to be replaced, over all this resort needs an overhaul. The staff tried to make everyone feel like home and they were good at it but the resort needs lots of work.

Club Kawama: Lovely time

This is my seventh time to Kawama and while it does have some imperfections, it is home away from home. I have made many friends there who are now like family. I would recommend to anyone with an open mind who wants a good time great beach and location. The only minor complaint would be the drinks and that they often run out quickly of things
