Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Pros and Cons

There are many pros to this resort that are well worth mentioning. First, the staff are professional, friendly and very willing to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Second it the Dorado restaurant which had wonderful food and service.Lastly the hotel grounds are wonderful and well maintained.The cons is the hideaway pool is far too small for the number of people and is often too noisy for a adult only resort. Vik Hotel Cayena Beach: A hidden gem

My wife and I recently returned to the VIK Cayena Beach Hotel for the second time, after staying at the sister property next door three years ago, and believe that this may well be the only Caribbean destination we ever go to in the future. We have both traveled extensively, and rate the Cayena as our absolute favorite for several reasons. If you are looking for a big, sprawling property with lots of action, this IS NOT the place for you. Our recent stay at the Cayena was partially to celebrate our tenth anniversary, which the hotel acknowledged by a complimentary bottle of champagne and placing us in what we consider to be the best room in the house. To us, this typified why we like the Cayena so much. All the rooms have stunning views of Bavaro Beach, and the hotel is located on a small, private stretch that provides a breathtaking vista that is incomparable. The amenities on the property are all very close to each other, including the breakfast and lunch restaurant, which only serves the 47 rooms of the Cayena. The food and staff are wonderful. It's not five star, but is certainly 4+, and the personal touches by all of the staff, management included, give the hotel a personal feel that make the vacation as special as it was. The VIK Arena Blanca, which is next door, and is accessible for Cayena guests (but not vice versa) allowed us the choice of a la carte and buffet restaurants for dinner, as well as other amenities, including a gym, spa, and shopping. Having stayed at both properties, we can honestly say that they are both wonderful, but we have a strong preference for the size and intimacy of the Cayena. We will be returning in six months, and can't make the calendar move fast enough.

Punta Cana Princess: Beautiful resort!

Beautiful grounds. Amazing beach. Great food with lots of variety. Friendly staff. Faculties well maintained. New furniture in lobby and beach restaurant. Would highly recommend the Punta Cana Princess!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia Caribe Punta Cana

Our first time to this resort. Service was fantastic, the grounds were immaculate and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was good and the beach was stunning as well as the main pool. We had the Level upgrade which was well worth the little extra cost.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Last time here

Generally the management is making the resort to go down. Needs new ideas and new team to better organize this facility, otherwise the investment will loose money. Asked receptionists for nights event (example location for “Welcome party” on Sunday night ?) and they don’t know anything or they will tell you something else! Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This Hotel is definitely a 5 *, the grounds are well kept. The staff are friendly and always willing to go over and beyond to accommodate you. We stayed at the Colonial Adult only side so you are assigned a Butler, who again was outstanding and made sure your stay was enjoyable. The beach is white sand and crystal clear blue water. I highly recommend this resort.

VH Atmosphere: Nice, clean resort.

We had a lovely time at the VH Atmosphere. It met our expectations in most ways. The beach was good, the pools were nice, the staff was very helpful, and the suite was spacious and clean. The food was not as good as we had hoped and the restaurants were closed several nights resulting in the buffett being the only option. We were there in low season. We were flooded out of our room one night but the staff responded immediately and helped us move to another suite. It is a quiet resort for middle-aged and senior couples.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice Resort

The resort is just the perfect size, with lots of quiet areas, as well as enough activities to keep you busy if you want to be. The rooms were clean (though getting run down and not fancy) and the staff were lovely and fun. Caution about ordering items from the a la carte restaurants (those that cost extra). If the food is not cooked well (in my case a burned $32 USD lobster), they will not refund you or make it right (i.e. prepare it again or offer something else). I took my complaint to  [... read more]the Customer Service Manager, who said "no one else complained so we won't refund the money or let you eat there free". That was disappointing. When we arrived (my daughter and I who share the same last name) they put us in a King Bed suite (we had Platinum VIP). We had to wait till 7 p.m. the next night to get switched to a double room (after being told 5 p.m., then 6, then 7). The room was ok - it had a terrace, but it was not as nice as the other room. I also had to go ask for our free bottle of rum (which was supposed to be in our room along with a welcome fruit plate (we never got that). But it was delivered eventually. The beach was lovely - lots of day beds and chaise lounges. The food was excellent in the buffet and (other than the lobster dinner) the a la carte restaurants. Staff was amazing and personable! Overall a great 10 days. I would go back again for sure!

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Fantastic Holiday

We were at TRS Cap Cana from Dec 2/19 - Dec 9/19 and had a fabulous time. It is a small resort that allows you meet people if you choose or have as much privacy as you like. I think the staff there have been very carefully chosen and they all try to make each guest feel like the most important visitor there. The food was very good at all of the restaurants and the waitstaff all speak English and are very patient trying to help you with your limited Spanish. Excellence El Carmen: Fantastic resort!!!!!

This was the best vacation and all due to this outstanding resort! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Always smiling!!! Room and private pool were amazing and the food and drink were superior. I have already recommended Excelkence El Carmen to friends and coworkers. One word to sum it up ‘Excellente!’

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Somewhat disappointing.

We arrived at approximately 8:30 in the evening and were the only customers to check in , so all went well except waited approximately 10 minutes for a bell boy so finally followed the map and took our own suitcases. Our Superior deluxe room was truly disappointing. The furniture was paint splattered and chipped in numerous locations. The air conditioning duct grill was dirty. The pool, colourfully lighted was, however, spectacular and relaxing. The buffet was the best option for meals. We did e [... read more]njoy the Mexican and the Brazilian a-la-Carter’s restaurants. Mylos, Mediterranean restaurant was not worth the effort and could not eat much of the food as it was less than pleasant. The pool was cold and lacked shade so we opted for the beach each day and found it pleasant other than the litter of plastic straws, cups and spoons littering the area. Disappointing to see these items used in such great quantities and not being recycled. We also had to go to the front desk on four occasions to have our key cards redone in order to get into our room. The grounds are clean but the entire resort appears “tired.” Weekends in the Dominican are the same at every resort we have stayed but this resort seems to be totally over run with locals. Food, scotch and snacks became scarce for the weekends. We always found ample lounge chairs both at the beach and the pool area, however, not always in the shade. Our final day was rainy and it was difficult to find a dry place to sit, relax and have a drink or a coffee. In all, we would not recommend this resort and would not return. P.s. the bar fridge beer is CoorsLight in the mini cans. This in itself is a good reason to avoid this resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Luxury Bahia Principe Samana

This was our first time to the Dominican Republic and it won't be our last. Upon arrival we were checked in and in our room in no time at all. The room was absolutely beautiful with a view of Samana Bay. The grounds were very well kept and the resort was super clean and beautiful. Food was good especially the a la cartes. The staff were super friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. For those who love to party, this is not the place for you. It is a quiet resort with a small beach and [... read more] crystal clear waters. They had some activities both day and in the evening. For people with mobility problems this resort has a lot of steps so it may not be for you either. Overall we had a great time and are considering returning next May. See you all there!!!

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Awful experience

Dirty rooms and buffets, no good food (there is plenty of food and wide variety of dishes BUT YOU CANNOT EAT THAT) and you need to ask for beverages for 3 times.There is no privacy in your rooms, so be ready that the staff keep looking in your windows non stop if you are at the 1st floor. People believe that "service" is the number of time the towels are changed and not cleaning up the rooms. Try to put a white towel on the floor in the bedroom and you see how dirty the floor is.

Ocean Blue and Sand: AMAZING!

I cannot say enough about Ocean Blue! The resort is fabulous, the beach is amazing (except for the 'whales' (that's what I call them, lol) that stop the waves, some of them are way to close to the beach. The food was amazing, the staff are amazing, the grounds are amazing, and I mean SPOTLESS! (I did not see one cigarette butt ANYWHERE) Mike's Cafe was the best! I would 100% come back to this resort.

Riu Palace Macao: Great vacation spot

My husband and I really enjoyed the resort and its offerings. Very clean rooms and surroundings. We particularly enjoy the buffet since it offered a variety of foods. Although they had several restaurants that you could go without reservations, we preferred the food at the buffet. Beaches are very nice and clean. Staff is very friendly. We also have very fond memories of Yoanna, at the front desk. She was so helpful and welcoming, actually they were all so nice and welcoming. They only [... read more] drawback I would have is that this hotel would need renovations since it's dated and they would need to keep up with all the newer hotels in that region. All in all it was a great vacation.

Be Live Experience Hamaca Beach: Absolutely worst resort I have ever been to

The resort is so horribly laid out, only food is across a road???? Beach is small but cute. arrived there 2 hours late and was not registered, then no bellhop to room, arrived at room and had requested 2 beds (as I was travelling with adult son) and got 1 king bed. The received another bed in room (so 2 king beds in one room)??? and no pillows or blankets...for the whole night, when we got a pillow the next night it was a case stuffed with towels? Phone did not work (so had to run to reception e [... read more]very time we needed pillow....blanket..bed). The BEST thing about this resort was ADA, ELVIS (THE BARTENDERS)...total hates off to them

Excellence Punta Cana: excelencia

When we arrived at the resort Excellence Punta Cana, we were treated like royalty, served a nice, cool champagne and our luggage taken straight to our room. The check in process was brief and complete and we really appreciated that given that we were tired after a delay and a long flight. Impressive Premium Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

Resort is very clean and modern. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Dining experience was good lots of options. The only thing I would change about the resort would be to have designated smoking areas. My kids and myself are highly sensitive to smoke and had to move chairs a number of times at the pool and at the beach because of smokers. Also cut down on plastic waste and use reusable cups at the pool and beach bars.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Incredible Place

We had an amazing time the hotel is stunning the beach is peaceful and beautiful. Stayed in the bungalow. Highly recommend. Only complaint very poor pressure in the showers. Food just ok but I am picky.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fantastic trip to Punta Cana

This was our second trip to the Ocean Blue and Sand resort, we again had an amazing time they had decorated for Christmas having a light up night with a champagne and chocolate party! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The pool was great and Bienvenito the bartender looked after us! Activities were fun; we played frisbee, beanbag toss, painted, danced pool side, water aerobics and bingo ...Pokémon and Cherry kept us entertained! OB & S have the best staff!
