Punta Peninsula Varadero: So so

Had a wonderful time. Staff friendly. The only problem we had was that the hotel is understaffed. Chasing after towels and running out if supplies was a daily occurrence. Staff was difficult to locate at times as there isn't enough staff on the premises. Food was ok but not exceptional. Overall a 3 out of 5

I really love this resort, the rooms are large and clean, pools are great, beaches were beautiful, food was very good, The staff was absolutely wonderful great to their customers. Would definitely recommend this resort family and friends

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

This is a sprawling almost 2 km long resort with some great pools, landscaping, lighthouse, tennis court, indoor games clubroom, kids club, waterslide, disco, gym, entertainment hall , restaurants and buffet hall, Overall we would rate it as hugely satisfying being our first trip to Cuba. We did read previous reviews both positive and negative before going to the resort. Now after the experience we think we definitely got our money's worth. We travelled as a family with three children. We got to live in Block 12 ocean view ground level. First floor room view is better for ocean view but ground floor rooms avoid having to climb the stairs. Pool facing rooms are also pretty good. This block is very convenient to access the Beach, the Pool, the buffet hall and la carte restaurants, front reception lobby and bar, entertainment hall. The afternoons have some good music and dance parties by the poolside also equipped with a bar as well as on beach and lobby area. There is great energy and the Beach is the incredible highlight of the place without a doubt. Trip to Havana is good for those who like to explore and learn about the culture and history. Children would surely like the trip to see the dolphins and the trip to the island and snorkelling. Trip to Varadero downtown in the open double decker bus which comes to the resort is good. I also heard the Jeep Safari is good too. The Buffet definitely is good for those who like to eat healthy. Lot of fruit and choices for meats and bread. Junk food and spicy food lovers may not find it that interesting. There are electric carts to take you around the resort so don't have to worry about how to get around the resort specially if u want to use the Gym or the Disco. The entertainment some days is okay but can be spectacular on some days like the Michael Jackson show done by a local look-alike. They also have a magic and animal show for the kids which is good fun. I loved the Cuban music and dance lessons on the beach and the poolside. This resort is certainly not a disappointment. Take bug spray to avoid the mosquitos as much as possible. Certainly recommend the resort to everyone and if possible carry items like creams, lotions, stationery to tip which can be more useful to the locals as they are expensive in Cuba and not as easily available as in Canada.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very Nice!!

I would recommend this hotel to families as that is whom we saw the most (we went as a couple). The food was good, the trips were good and the facility was safe. Lots of guards surrounding the facility. One reason we went to this place was for the snorkelling off the beach and that was excellent.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing resort!!

The hotel was beautiful, recently renovated villas, entertainment team and overall service was very engaging there was always something to do. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Beautiful beach, great nightlife various options for clubs!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Hotel colonial Cayo coco

The staff were friendly and fun. The snack bar and doughnut staff were amazing the disco needs to play more English music to engage clients. Dancing entertainment was ok Rooms were big enough however bathrooms need doors. In your room. Did not see staff at pool or beach bringing you drinks. We always had to go and get other ourselves. Muthu Colonial Hotel: Wonderfful

The staff are amazing! Everything was just perfect. Rooms are nice and clean, grounds are meticulously kept. Food is good, there is always something very good from the individual stations; fish,pasta. The band at night (Anthony) was great!

Awesome place. Not a huge party. Fun but mellow. Beautiful beach. Staff is 10/10. Food was good. Old time feel. Rooms were spacious and modern with antiquated feel. Clean as a whip. No bugs. Great pools. Gym sucks. Overall was fantastic. :)

grounds and public areas were well maintained. washrooms could use some repairs. buffet was well organized. (example: all food was labeled) Staff was very friendly and the entertainment was excellent.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very good resort for the price

Very good beach, but lacks restrooms and service. Also lot of rocks, so need to take water shoes. Hotel service was very good, rooms were clean and well maintained. Food generally OK, ranging from really good to below average. Buffet used for most meals was generally quite good. Long, rough ride to and from Holguin airport. Grounds are beautiful. Staff were terrific.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great staff

Overall the "plus" side of this hotel was very good. The cleaning staff and the grounds keepers kept the inside and outside in top shape. The bar and restaurant staff and especially the activities staff went above and beyond to make this stay very enjoyable.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Only regret.... wished we stayed longer!

The hardworking staff really make this hotel what it is. The food was amazing (my husband and I are very picky eaters - so we were shocked by this). Grounds are clean and very well maintained. The hotel is located at the very end of the peninsula, so it is the furthest from town, which means some extra travel time when going into town - but this is not an issue, since we only went into town twice because really the resort has everything! I would DEF recommend this hotel to a family member, frien [... read more]d, anyone!! It's very well suited for couples, or families but probably not the younger crowd who is looking to party. I can see why this resort is known to have repeat customers, when we go back to Cuba - we will only go back to stay at this resort.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: amazing resort

nice resort, very clean, super good food and entertainment.The beach is OK but a lot of rocks from beginning, no problem with chairs on beach. I loved "a la carta music" show every evening before main show. The best was water ballet. Like the tours the resort offered, very interesting to see country, catamaran tour was the best.The staff very friendly, always smileing with good English. I will go there again.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: My family and I had a great time!

I am so sick of hearing, "the food wasn't good". Really? Who goes to Cuba for the food? Although we thought the food was fine. This is not a country of abundance but the best is reserved for the tourists and the residents are so good natured regardless. The wonderful people, beautiful beach, relaxed atmosphere and unique culture is what we wanted and got. Cuba is one of the least expensive of the all inclusive destinations and Hotel Colonial was a great bang for our buck. Only one problem on the far end island -carts for traveling people back and forth were down most of the time-didn't mind walking but had heavy rain and no carts food was great for Cuba service was very good rooms were clean staff very friendly

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A Great Resort

Visited Blau for the 17th time on November 10th. Always feels like home and great to see returning guests, friends and staff. This resort has great staff and some of the best food I have had in Cuba. I would rate Blau as a 3 Star in the older section because it has some serious maintenance issues. My major complaint was availability of food and very poor air conditioning. The Blau Plus is a 4 Star. They also moved the 24 hr snack bar to the beach during the day. This will pose a major problem when they have a full house in the high season. It is not on my travel list for 2015. May return some day if there are some changes or it goes for 3 star price. I would still recommend the resort if you get a sale price, go knowing what to expect or pay up and stay in Blau Plus if air con is important to you.

Blau Varadero: Great Resort

I have been to Cuba a few times and I can say that Blau Varadero is a very good hotel. Most people are concern with the food when travelling to Cuba, however, the food here was quite good. The beach is always nice in Cuba and Blau does not disappoint. Since this is high rise hotel unlike most Cuban resorts, the elevators were an issue. First it was very small, and secondly it's not working most of the time. Another conern is with the lobby bar.
