The resort was very clean. Food was very good. Service was a little slow. No beach bar.Awesome beds and bedding.lots of activities to do. Maid service excellent. We stayed in the BIP building for a small upgrade fee

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great weather, terrific experience!

The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, staff was very friendly, and food was great. The beaches were neatly kept and there were always staff picking up litter or cups left behind - there also always seemed to be fun events going on by the beach or pool areas. My only complaint would be that there were stalls set up around the theatre where people were selling all kinds of goods, however they were very pushy with sales tactics. Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Would definitely go again!

4.5 The Royalton Punta Cana resort was a fabulous experience. The food was great (except maybe the Jade Asian restaurant - pretty “meh”) and the Hideaway adults-only section was a great choice. The Dorado restaurant, exclusive to Hideaway guests, was great at breakfast, lunch, AND dinner, and has the best view of any restaurant. The snack and drink bar in the Hideaway lounge was a brilliant touch and we used it more than we thought we would. Here’s what would have made my vacation a perfect 5 out of 5: -We were initially put into a room with two queen beds. My wife and I were there for our 10-year anniversary and we had wanted a king. They weren’t able to accommodate until the 3rd day. -when we finally switched rooms we were brought to the room next to the Hideaway lounge, so it tended to be quite noisy. Something on the fan needed to be tightened up as it was creamy. The king bed had a significant dip in the middle and didn’t feel great on my back at all. -every time a room door closes, it’s so loud that it echoes down the entire hallway. It woke me up numerous times. Maybe consider something to soften the door jamb. All in all a fantastic experience, and it wouldn’t have taken much to make it even better. We will most likely return!

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Will Never Stay at the Royalton anywhere Ever again!

Everyone has their hands out at this resort. Beware that you will be harassed and guilted into tipping or buying stuff the entirety of your stay while given absolutely no reason to do so. Beware that you will be annoying and bothering employees with your requests. Beware that there are no deadbolts on your suite doors, sliders don't lock, toilets don't work and HVAC systems make lots of noise and your requests for service and complaints will go unheard. Employees will walk into your room if you  [... read more]do not answer the door within 1.5 seconds of their first knock. WARNING: do not wear anything into the water that you don't mind losing - sunglasses, rings, etc. as the water is rough and you will never find it. But, there are people there that dive for lost stuff but good luck convincing them to give it back or even trying to buy your stuff back from them. Food has no flavour - we left two of the restaurants after a few bites as it was actually gross. The bars are constantly running out of alcohol so you have to wait or have to get something else that you don't really want. Oh, and if any employee talks about a special breakfast - DO NOT GO - they are trying to sell you a $45,000 membership! LOL. I hate that place soo much!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort with a Local Issue

The VH Gran Ventana in Puerto Plata was a great stay with one or two issues which I will state last. The room that we stayed in (1237), was located close to all pools except the quiet pool. It was large enough for both of us without feeling like I was in a hall. The cleaning staff were very much on point for the entire duration of our stay, regardless of our location making this the cleanest resort that I have ever been to (room, lobby, pool etc.). The service staff was always kind and helpf [... read more]ul, and having the royal package was an exceptional experience from beginning to end of stay. The main pool area was very active, clean, and fun, but the music was very repetitive, it was like there was only about 10 songs that I heard for our entire stay. The WIFI was fantastic with coverage near anywhere I was located on the resort. The food was great in both buffet and a la carte. The only issue with the resort that really stood out were the vendors on the beach. We only went to the beach once, because the vendors would not take no for an answer. I was touched without permission, on multiple occasions on the one visit to the beach, and received the worst massage from a beach vendor (sand was not removed), that I ever have had the displeasure to receive disguised as a demonstration. We did not feel comfortable going back, so we stayed at the quiet pool for the remainder of our stay to escape the vendors. The only other issue was a minor one. The bus upon arrival was too small for our group. We were mashed into an uncomfortable van, but on our return to the airport on the last day, we were on a large bus (far more comfortable). All in all, I would return to this resort, but with the knowledge that I have now, it could be a 5 star trip.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Overall great trip! Big Resort!

My husband and I went to Cofresi resort for 12 days on our honeymoon. Despite being given incorrect information by our trip central travel agent about the VIP package, we are VERY glad we got the upgrade. This allowed us to use The Tropical part of the resort including buffet, a la carts dinners and the VIP beach with free wifi. (Although the wifi is VERY slow and doesn’t work at times) We were also able to get wifi at the sports bar with the upgrade. Upon arrival, after the long and hot wait to check in, no one told us where we could go or where we couldn’t go on the resort/s. They just gave us a map and pointed out a few main places. Because we had the VIP upgrade we thought we could go into certain VIP beach areas, as they had signs saying VIP beach. We assumed this was our upgrade. But we quickly got kicked out. We were very upset about this and had to take the long trek back to the lobby for them to explain. We were also told by our trip central travel agent we would get wifi in our room, which we did not. Our room was building 40, close to the Cofresi main buffet. It was newly renovated, big shower and jacuzzi tub. This too was part of the VIP upgrade. The room was clean and the maids always did a great job! The room they gave us on check out to shower before departure showed us what the other buildings rooms are like, and again we were happy for the upgrade. There is a definite sewage smell in a few spots on the resort. Probably the reason they have a sign on all toilets not to flush the toilet paper down. Clearly a sewage issue. The resort is very big and lots of bars and things to go to. Once you get to know where your going it’s not too bad, and only a few places you have to catch a shuttle. Both my husband and I got very sick at the Casa Blanca buffet at The Tropical on different nights. Food poisoning? But overall the food was decent at both buffets. The Brazilian restaurant was probably our favourite, and the Mexican. I wish there were more 24 snack places open. The only place was the Mexican restaurant on The Tropical resort with very little selection. Or nachos and cheese at the sports bar. The VIP beach was where we spent most of our days when we were not doing day trips/activities. We loved the cabanas, the servers were great, and the cool jet tubs were awesome. Although on weekends they do let what seems to be locals come visit the VIP beach and they turn the wifi off and don’t have servers around anywhere until after noon-1pm it seems like? We came around 10:30am on a Sunday and almost couldn’t find a cabana. The beach isn’t the best. We went in November so not sure if that affects the waves? Cloudy water so not ideal for any kind of snorkeling. Very wavy, which can be a blast at times, just not to relax in the water and a lot of debris/garbage in the water at times. We ended up buying a floaty to enjoy the ocean some more. This resort seems to cater to the VIP members, and time share owners etc more. The ones with the gold, red or black shiny bracelets. They get golf carts to drive around in and just seem to get better service overall. Not sure if I would go back. I’ve been to other resorts that are still big with lots to do, but less confusing with all the different areas you can and can not go to. I’ve only been to resorts where the whole resort is all inclusive, not just certain areas. Just my preference. For the resort to improve I would recommend more signs with clearly marked bracelets where you can and can not go or a better map that clearly marks guest areas.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Amazing resort

This was our second time to Cayo levantado and had a great week. Check in was painfully slow as it was evening and we just wanted to get to the island. Only one staff working the desk for check in and they new ahead of time how many were coming in. That took 1 1/2 hours from us. Once on the island our butler Anthony was there and ready to take us to our room. Our room request was not doable but they did move us up a floor and same location. Food was good all week long. Always able to get  [... read more]a chair by the beach or pool. Grounds are always looking good. Entertainment staff always getting us up and active. We had lots of fun. Yascar was always checking in and keeping us active. Beach bar was always keeping our drinks from running out. Great location and amazing staff. The waves have not been good to the island as it has washed about 100 feet away and creating issues with the sea wall. Three palm trees fell to the ocean in the week. The room always had everything we needed. The wifi was off and on at times. Made new friends and reacquainted with others. Will look forward to returning. We did leave the island for one excursion we planned ourselves. We had lunch in the hill top restaurant the food is amazing and very reasonable priced. El Monte Azul. The round up is not very good but worth the trip.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Vacation!

This resort is perfectly sized and IMMACULATE! The rooms were comfortable and the staff was amazing. The only drawback that we noted was the beach vendors who were so relentless that we didn't bother returning to the beach after our first day.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great resort!

Had a great experience at this resort. Amazing for the kids. You won't regret!!!! Absolutely nothing negative to say. Super clean. Amazing service and just a great overall experience.pls try all the restaurants they are simply amazing

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Don’t expect too much

The hotel is quite large. There are two parts, the beach and the palace. If you stay at the beach (adults only) you are allowed to use the amenities on the Palace side. We stayed the whole time on the Palace side (pool) as it has a swim up bar. Didnt really notice a lot of kids when we were there. The Beach on the adults only side is better. Unfortunately, my husband got sick off their food and we wasted a day inside the room - when we confronted the hotel all they said was its impossible t [... read more]hat my husband got food poisoning because there isn't other people who complained. The lobster that was served to him had a foul smell, its unbearable. This ruined our honeymoon. After the food poisoning everything went downhill from there, from the service and cleanliness of the room that we were so happy to get to the airport and finally eat some real food and get back to Canada. some staff are rude, especially when you don't speak Spanish. Had a really bad service at Santa Fe Steakhouse and Coral Seafood. If you visit La Brisa, make sure to ask for Esther! She’s the best! At the Palace swim up bar Odalio and Norberto are the best bartenders there! Always smiling even if you havent given them a tip!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Well run resort.

Stayed at Ocean Blue and sand 1st week dec. This was our 5th time in the DR and second time to this same resort (after 7 years). The PROPERTY: Looks like the lobby area was refreshed since our first visit. Residences same and well kept. Rooms and grounds clean. No bugs. The resort appears quite family friendly. Many families with young children. STAFF: We found the staff to be most friendly and helpful without exception. English is well spoken at Reception. Many staff speak some English. [... read more] If you can speak some Spanish you will be a hit. DINING: We tried a couple of the ala carte restaurants: Margharita and I Mascherati. Both were fine. We dined mostly in the main buffet restaurant so we could sample more things. Really enjoyed the assortment of seafood. My personal favourites were the sushi tuna and cured tuna (similar to prosciutto). There was plenty of variety of all foods and well prepared. BEACH: Parts of the beach near the beach bar took a hit from the last big storm that went through and have significant erosion. Workers were sandbagging below the bar to stabilize. There were also massive sandbags in the water just off shore to protect the beach from further erosion. My guess is that sand may be dredged from further out to restore the beach to its former size. EXCURSIONS: We did the sights on prior trips to the DR so spent most of our time enjoying R&R at the beach. SHOPPING: We did one shopping run on provided shuttle to a touristy shopping centre. Nothing more than you can find from beach vendors. Worth skipping that one. Better shops can be had at Plaza San Juan (free shuttle route A on request from Ocean Blue) and also has supermarket (Super Pola). US$ accepted at all shops except supermarket. There was also a 3 ½ hr trip available to Blue Mall near airport. Not sure of cost or shuttle services. RUM: Since first time to the DR, I have come to enjoy anejo rum. Best prices will be at a supermarket. I found small selection at reasonable price at the Duty Free on resort. Ie. 3x1L of Brugal Extra Viejo for $25US. Brugal Leyenda and Barcelo Imperial .7L both for $25US each at resort shop. Brugal is the big national brand. I was surprised the main Duty Free at airport didn’t carry it. Smaller Duty Free at airport did have it for considerably more than prices on resort. CONS: If there is one negative about the resort is their Travel Club. Guests are selectively solicited to purchase membership in the H10 Travel Club. A request to provide survey feedback turned into a 1hr+ sales presentation. I prefer to be the shopper not the shopped. If you are of similar mind just say NO when approached and enjoy your vacation your way.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Amazing Resort

Nice grounds, everyday you can see some one work on the ground. big size room, we stay one bed room , it is big enough for a couple. good food, nothing exciting but good, The should let guesses know which open and which one close. beautiful beach,

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Pros and Cons

Were there Nov 18 through 25 Pros: Great weather, great location, beautiful beach, good food, nice a la cart restaurants, great pillow menu, great activities (water aerobics, stretches, yoga on the SUP) Cons: Waited 30 min for luggage upon arrival Problems setting up the safe and wifi connection Room cards stopped working every day (sometimes twice a day) Cleaning ladies did not respond for request (like bring tooth paste, refill alcohol drinks in the fridge). Grand Palladium Palace: It was ok

I wish they had queen beds and not doubles. When you have 3 in a room one sleeps on a pullout which is not very comfortable. Not that many people in the resort understand english. When you need something repaired you have to push them to get it done.

Punta Cana Princess: Wonderful Vacation

This was our 2nd time at this resort and it was just as wonderful and beautiful as the first time. It’s a smaller resort and the people were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going again.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: December 2019

We just spent 7 days at the grand Bahia principe Bavaro. This was our second time at their resort so it’s safw to say that we enjoyed it. The food is great, however the al a carte (Brazilian steak house) was a big disappointment. We left mid dinner and went to the buffet, so if you plan on booking an al a carte I would suggest leaving that one out. Also being big repellent, i noticed a few bites on my leg while on the resort and then I ended up getting hives which I am still dealing with now.  [... read more]I am not sure what it is from but I’m thinking maybe fire ants, since they have venom and it’s more of a reaction to something rather than bites. The beach is beautiful and the pools are huge. It is great for family or singles. However there is not much going on for entertainment, they do have shows at night but they did not have any pool or beach parties. The disco was usually pretty packed and we had a great time there. The service is great and people are very kind and helpful, and most of them speak English. I would go back to this resort again and I would also recommend it to others.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great trip!

The hotel was nice, rooms need some updating. Having a quiet pool was great. Merchants continuously asking for you to buy things on the beach made the beach area not enjoyable. Overall was a good resort for relaxing week.

Secrets Royal Beach: Disappointed

Major construction to an addition of the resort - woke up to power saws/jackhammers/machinery every morning. Both got food poisoning at the Oceana restaurant our second night. Great staff though. Excellent room service/maid service.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Excellent value

This was our first visit to the Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa, but it won't be our last. Rooms were appointed with sleek, modern furnishings. We splurged on a swim up room, and were not disappointed. Food was surprisingly tasty for the D.R. The 3 pools and lazy river were immaculately kept. The beach was well maintained throughout the day but the undertow was strong so be aware. The highlight at The Royalton Bavaro were the staff, who went out of their way to make our vacation a [... read more] memorable one. We weren't bored for one second and can't wait to go back.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Renovation

The hotel is under renovation and it is not the most relaxing hearing drills all the time. If it wasn’t the construction it was the locals trying to sell us things and charging way to much. Our room was supposed to be ocean view and we could not see the ocean at all. We went with adults only because we thought we would have extra perks but turns out there’s a separate VIP called the level that you need to get into half the places.
