Tryp Cayo Coco: Not what I expected

We decided to go to this resort based on reviews I've been to Caya cocoa before and thought it would be the best place for a quiet week of relaxation but when we got there there must of been about 500 teenagers at this resort and was shocked when we booked we were not notified that there was an s trip at his resort and was very disappointed with the agent not notifying us because if we were warned I would have opted for a different hotel breakfast lunches and dinners we could never find tables a [... read more]nd at times there were lines ups to get into the buffet I have never in my travels experienced this.rhere were more cons than pros I was disappointed . I don't know whether or not I would recommend this resort to any one. I think they cater more to teenagers than adults so no probably not. Not a relaxing week at all

Hotel Playa Paraiso: wonderful hotel

Amazing staff and a hotel. New hotel not too large. Beach is great and clean. All the restourants are very clean and efficient. Staff is sooo friendly and helpfull. Kids entertainment was very good. Overall amazing hotel and vacation.

Hotel Mojito: Iberostar Mojito

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort!!

I have visited Cuba six times and the Melia was by far the nicest resort I visited in Cuba. Everything about the resort was amazing. The food, beach, entertainment, high quality drinks, staff, the room. Staff payed attention to every detail. I plan on returning to the Melia again this fall.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Flamenco "Flan -tastic"

Our family vacationed at Memories Flamenco in Cayo Coco from July 14-21, 2014. We had a great vacation. The last 3 times we’ve gone to Cuba, it’s been Holguin that we’ve vacationed at so this was a 1st for us at Cayo Coco. I would go back to Cayo Coco again. It is only a 20 minute bus ride to the resort or time enough for 2 cold Cristals for $5.00 Cdn. The resort was well maintained and the staff was friendly. We saw the manager and head chef every day we were at the resort. They are very  [... read more]hands on with customer service. We tipped the ones who work behind the scenes and get very little. We would give the gardeners and such gloves and fishing line and hooks and it was like Christmas to them. They don’t get the tips like the maids and bartenders do. Don’t tip in Cdn coin as the locals can’t exchange them. The food was good as well. I know what to expect when in Cuba and I have to say that I was surprised at how much better the food quality was at this resort. The food was fresh; the toaster was able to hold 24+ slices of bread at once so no huge line up while your eggs get cold. I had a fruit smoothie every morning and they were delicious. The snack bar was open 24 hours with food and drinks. My boys went there every day to get a cheeseburger or a hot dog. We did 3 a la carts and all 3 were good. The buffet was enormous and always had lots of food to choose from. Our rooms were in Bungalow #4. They were clean and air conditioned. The maid came everyday but at different times but that didn’t really affect us too much. The beach is the only thing I would have to say something negative about and it’s really not that negative. There is a lot of coral on the shore line that you have to walk over to get to the sandy part. This is an easy solve with water shoes. I did it without shoes 1 day and I learned my lesson. Water shoes were a must for me. My boys snorkelled on an excursion and off the resort shoreline and loved it. They encountered a lot of different fish, barracudas, crabs and starfish. They went out 3 or 4 times in 1 week they liked it so much. We only really watched 1 show and that was the Michael Jackson tribute. It was really well done. My boys are in their teens so they are too young to appreciate who Michael Jackson was to music but they were impressed and asked us questions about him after the show. My only complaint with our vacation was arriving at the airport to a flurry of mosquitoes. Bring bug wipes in your carry on and wipe yourself down before you get off the plane....seriously. The airport is air conditioned which is a great plus over the Holguin airport. Our flight was delayed when we were leaving because of a storm but it didn’t bother us because we were comfortable inside the a/c airport. There is a snack bar, stores and a duty free store as well. For the price of our holiday, which was a great deal, you will find no better bang for your buck. The staff try very hard and is worthy of the good reviews. You can pick apart any place you go to but if you are like that maybe you should stay home. There will always be a few of those tiny plastic drink cups blowing around at the end of the day. Pay this place a visit and enjoy.

Melia Cayo Coco: What a beautiful resort!

Went to Melia CayoCoco for our second time in feb 2014. We just love this place. Beach is very nice. Water was perfect, warm. The staff are awesome, allways ready to take care of your needs. The food is very good. I'm a very fussy eater and i stuffed my self every day. We are booking again for feb 2015 and friends of ours are coming this time. They heard so much great things of the resort from us. Looking foward to our trip.

Melia Cayo Coco: Wonderful Resort

Our first visit to the resort was with family to celebrate my husband's birthday. Since then, we have returned 4 more times with friends, and just the two of us. There is a special magic about this hotel that makes us feel at home. The service and food are excellent. We particularly enjoy the beach grill with its wonderful choices of fresh fish and meat, and the sound of live Cuban music. It is everywhere and it makes us feel like dancing!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great value for the money...

Great time @ Pestana Cayo Coco with our 2 teenage boys. Downside was "repetitive" food @ buffets. Beaches fabulous...yes, some rocky areas...but beach itself is much quieter in those areas!!...and it's not like you have to go a long way to find sandy bottom, either. Staff & rooms very good [Agree with other comments about the showers...they work fine - just not sure why they'd have been designed that way!...and it is a bit of a step down into the tub - but these are non-issues for vast majority  [... read more]of people]. We did the walk to Lenny's Lobster Shack...we figured about 14 km's return trip. Worth every step! Best lobster I've ever had - and I've lots of Maritime blood! Not sure why they'd sell German beer instead of local, but - hey - it was all awesome...$15 I think...grilled large lobster tail, some mild fish, shrimps & salady stuff. A-1. And beautiful scenery.]. Quieter rooms at far end - we were top floor of building #8 with ocean view - which means you kinda look to the side off your balcony at the water. All good. Tip: take water shoes or suitable sandals...swim in 'em - and take them with you if you walk to Lenny's - couple of "rough" spots. It's what you make it, folks. Go & have fun...

Tryp Cayo Coco: Would not recommend

We were always the kind of people to say "It is what you make it", to other people's bad reviews. But this resort is a 2+ at best. Extremely outdated resort. Missing umbrellas around the pools, broken loungers not taken away. We were kicked out of the quiet pool by 5pm everyday. The worker would say 'pool closed' and lay all the chairs down (loudly). Even on the beach, they would start coming around at 4pm putting all the loungers away around you! No palapas, everyone was crowded under a non-tha [... read more]tched structure made from young trees, each section fit 4 people, but they were all connected. We had won the trip and we upgraded our room to superior oceanview, the only thing good about it was the oceanview. A cabin in the woods had better maintenance than that. We like to unpack and put our clothes in dresser drawers....there was only a credenza with a chair holding the door shut. Towels were stained, sheets were stained and ripped. Our sheets didn't get changed. We thought they were, but the bottom sheet was only flipped over, we knew this by the rips and stains. The last night we were there, the bottom sheet was finally taken, but not replaced, the top sheet was put in its place leaving us with no top sheet, only the bedspread. The light shades in the room were broken and had burn marks on them. The couple next to us smoked in their room and the wooden divider door between our rooms allowed the smoke to come in whenever we opened our patio doors. The food wasn't always labeled correctly, there were birds flying around the buffet and taking food from the buffet! If you didn't tip well you didn't get the service. Even the pasta area in the buffet wanted tips. There were a few who weren't like that though, but we didn't encounter her until the last night. Mulitple guests we spoke to would not come back. Two ladies with regular rooms, were on their 3rd change of rooms in less than a day. We saw a person covered in bedbug bites and another lady was in misery from a rash all over her body. We always spray our bed with bug spray to be on the safe side. No toilet paper or paper towel to dry your hands in the public washrooms. And I can't believe I'm saying this....but one women bartender made the drinks soo strong, you couldn't drink them (we heard others comment on this also) It's not the worker's fault, they are only being told what to do or not being shown or trained properly in the way to do things. Not a good experience all around.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: FANTASTIC VACATION

We have been to this resort twice, liked it so much the first time went back the following year and had a super time!! We wanted an “affordable” relaxing vacation with good weather and sunshine; and that’s what we got, absolutely perfect! The resort is 15 minutes from the airport, they are very organized to get you from the airport onto buses and to the resort, all very efficient, and easy. The nightly entertainment is very good. The have great pizza, daily BBQ by the pool, the food is what it is, not fine dining but okay. We spend our time at the pool, the beach is small and people loved it, we are more pool people and enjoyed the pool bar. The pool bar staff was fantastic and they remembered us from our first visit so we felt welcomed and at home. We have no complaints about anything, all good and would go back again without hesitation, enjoyed it very much, great vacation!!!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Worst trip ever!

I went to this resort from April 1, 2013 to April 8, 2013. I've been to many resorts in Cayo Coco and elsewhere and this resort was certainly not a 5 star resort based on my experience. Here are the reasons why: When we got to the resort, the walkway wasn't lit up to find our way to our room. Due to that, we struggled finding our room. At other resorts, we are escorted to our room along with our luggage. We got to our room at 11:30 PM and our baggage only got delivered at 1:00AM. We had to wait [... read more] 1 hour and 30 minutes to get our luggage after a very long day of travel. We didn't get any clean towels for 4 days in a row in our room. The concierge told us that it was a problem with the Laundromat in Cuba but friends of ours at the resort got fresh towels every day. The glasses in our room was only cleaned after the 4th day and only when we asked the maid for clean glasses. We were only able to change our beach towel once during our week, it was Saturday April 6, 2013. As for the buffet, most evenings we had to wait at least 30 minutes to get a table and even then the table wasn't set. On the day prior to our departure, Sunday April 7, 2013, both of our beach bags (my sister and I) were stolen from the beach. Once this happened, I reported the theft to a manager. At that time, I gave him a list of the articles that were stolen. I was told by this person that the police would be contacted and a report would officially be submitted. Once we got home, I requested an official report from the hotel or the police but I received an email in Spanish, not English, to say that no official report was made to the police and that they didn't believe that we had our stuff stolen in the first place. The message was translated in English in order for us to understand. Because both our cameras were stolen, we didn't have any pictures of this trip for my sister to share with her family and friends. It was her first trip South. I honestly don't care if I don't have pictures of this trip because I'm trying to forget it and I make sure that my friends know not to go there ever. It was a week that cost us a lot more than we bargained for in the end.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Relaxing Vacation

This was our second time to this resort. The last time was in 2008 when it was managed by the Blau. We noticed it was looking run down, and some of the added touches were missing, like no coffee maker in the room or no beer/pop in the fridge. The beach was amazing. Great for swimming and walking. As others have said in their reviews there were line ups at times in the buffet but we weren't worried about that. We had a laid back attitude and always managed to get something to eat. we enjoyed the sun and sand and had some muchly needed R&R away from the cold winter we were having in Canada.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awesome resort, friendly staff!

This resort was great, friendly staff, great housekeeping and excellent entertainment all around!! Loved our stay here for 2 weeks, cayo coco is beautiful!!!! We stayed 2 weeks lots of places to explore. The food was of abundance and the management made every effort to make your stay memorable.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Enjoyable resort.

This was our 2nd time to this resort--though the 1st time was about 10 years ago. It is a smaller resort with well kept grounds, beach and pool area--a pretty place. We always found a spot either at the pool or the beach. You can walk around the resort and not have to take a shuttle! The rooms are a little older but clean & well kept. They have an Italian restaurant where you can get pizza for lunch--eat in or take out. We always found plenty to eat, though we did eat a lot of fish & chicken--bu [... read more]t we enjoyed it. Their salads don't appeal to me but there was always steamed vegetables available and that was good enough. We really like their lobby bar--it has everything you want. You can get fancier drinks, and higher end liquers or brandies and it is all included. Nice spot to go either before or after dinner. The other thing that appealed to us is this hotel is not really far from the airport--about a 30 minute drive.

Hotel Playa Coco: BEAUTIFUL BEACH!!!!

First of all.....the staff in the hotel were amazing!! Nothing was too much trouble for them. We received the room we had requested for ourselves and for our friends. We had been to this resort 7 years ago and sad to say but the food was not up to the same standards. "hot" food was often cold, only beer, fish and french fries sold at the 24 hour bar/cafe. The fish at the beach bar was WONDERFUL as were the staff.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great Vacation

Pretty well everything about the hotel was great, with two exceptions. The food was not being cooked as well as it could have been. The bacon at breakfast was way undercooked and looked as if no one took any during the whole week we were there (we didn't starve though). For safety sake, they should remove some of the hazardous rocks that were found along the walking areas on the beach and shore up the handrails as you come onto the beach. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Fantastic Time at Memories Flamenco

I visited this hotel with my 2 teenage daughters for some R&R and we enjoyed it very much. The rooms are simple but very nice and clean, the grounds were beautiful and well kept. The pool was in two levels and quite large with the usual entertainment and bars. The beach here is really beautiful the colour of the water and the white sand, you can walk for miles especially to the left where past the resort is unspoiled beach. The beach is good for kids because it is shallow for quite a ways ouut.  [... read more]The food was pretty good for Cuba, simple but lots of variety. They have a bbq on the beach where they do fresh fish everyday and a hut at the pool where they serve pizza, hot dogs, burgers and fries. Sometimes they would run out of buns but all in all it was good. The entertainment was also very enjoyable. The lobby bar was the place to go for your before and after dinner drinks. We had a great time and would go back.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good vacantion

This resort is very noisy with a lots of tanager drinking and do party up to 5 am. Some of them are under 18and are knock out very fast. Big lines on the bars. Beach are very long and beautiful and water shallow.

Hotel Playa Coco: Disappointed

The people were great. The beach was beautiful. The resort (especially the rooms) showed it's age. For what we had to pay I expected more. The resort next door was the same rating and was much nicer. . Not my first visit south, but will quite possibly be my last visit to Cuba. First and last visit.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: I liked it!

Excellent food, beautiful gardens. Rooms are big, clean and have balcony. Beach is send but there are a lot of stones (big and small) in the water. Strongly recommend to bring aqua shoes. Buildings 1, 2 and 3 are close to everything.
