Hotel Camino del Mar: 25th Wedding Anniversary

If you have ever been to Cuba then you know your don't go for the cuisine but more for the beautiful beaches and a worry free week or two. My husband chose Melia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and what a riot we had. Like most hotels in Cuba, the Melia is dated but all of your basic needs are met. I have never traveled there in October and didn't think to bring bug spray. Wish I did as they have a nasty little black bugs the size of a pin-head that leaves a bit that makes you want to  [... read more]itch your skin off. Antihistamine or allergy pills are a must along with some anti-itch cream. Other than that, this is our new favourite Cuba destination...honestly, the beach is heavenly.

Melia Las Dunas: Very Relaxing

This is my second time to this Hotel. It is very beautiful and peaceful. The staff members are always nice and friendly at all times. They will do anything they can to make your vacation stress free and relaxing

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: The best in Cuba

I've been to this hotel five years in a row and each time it keeps getting better and better! Luna is quiet and Mares is louder if you want entertainment, so there's something for everyone. Clean, friendly, good food, incredible service, and an amazing beach. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Memories Cayo Largo: great resort!

very clean, good food, nice and wide beach, white sand, resort people very friendly and helpful. You can walk kilometers on the beach, the water is not deep right at the shore, free transfer to another very beautiful and isolated beach.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing Resort

Very good resort. Already I am thinking of returning back next year. very friendly staff and daily activities well planned and organised. All the buffets are serving good food and have good choices. My slight concern is for A La carte restaurants because their menus do not have many choices. I tried all of A la Carte restaurants and now regret that I wasted my time instead we could have gone to night Buffet where food was great. but overall we (my self and family and our friends) had a great tim [... read more]e. Melia Las Dunas: Find a better resort

We travel extensively. This resort is very tired and is only about 8 years old. We went with three other couples. Every one of us had to move at least once, from cockroaches to roof leaking on our bed during a rainstorm. When there was a problem with our bed being soaked from the rain there is no sense of urgency or attempt to accommodate the situation. I asked to have a manger come on the phone but to no avail. I feel for the wonderful people that work there but I don't think they are aware of the problems since they do not live even in the standards of this resort. The resort is rated as a 5 star but wouldn't get more than a 2 from us. Yes it was cheap, $710 for a week, but it is the slow season. Half the resort and the quiet pool were closed. Beach chairs are covered in mildew. A tractor pulling a bug sprayer goes by the lobby each evening at about 5PM and fills the lobby and lobby bar area, which is the busiest time of day just before dinner, with clouds that smell like diesel fumes. The a la carte restaurants have trouble getting quality foods to serve so the meals are substandard. The best food was the fresh cooked pasta at the international buffet and the pizza at the Italian restaurant. I wouldn't consider or recommend this resort. In fact I would recommend you NOT to go to this resort.

Melia Cayo Coco: Good getaway with onsite scuba

Large resort with good buffet. Restaurants are ok but we preferred buffet. Scuba available for 3 dives per day. Easy to get to dive sites. Boat is smaller than last visit but great visibility and coral sites. Pool is lacking of an in-pool bar as you have to walk to the resto-bar... It's tough being on vacation Stayed in lagoon suite... Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing trip!!!

This was my second visit to this hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel the property is beautiful. I stayed in a standard room facing the marina, great view. Last time my room faced the pool and beach which is also very nice. The staff here are amazing especially at the pool and lobby bar. Always taken care of never had to wait for a cocktail. The staff in the buffet restaurant were also fantastic and there was a great selection of items to make everyone happy. My favourite part of the trip was the spa where I booked a massage they have an infinity pool on the roof with to jetted hot tubs and loungers to relax and hang out before your massage. You can also just book a visit for the roof top pool for 30 pesos. Beautiful view of the marina . The beach is less than 5 minutes walking distance from the pool and is very nice with a restaurant and a tiki bar as well. You can also catch a ride as golf style carts also leave every couple of minutes from pool bar. I will definately visit this resort again.

Melia Las Dunas: we had the most amazing time of our life

The hotel was excellent. The setvice,the people and stuff was the best. The pool the beach was unbelievable. The food was more than we expected. We had some great tours too. The weather was very kind for the time we stayed.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Awesome resort

The resort was amazing, we had a late check in and we were still greeted with a cold cloth and champagne. We had the royal service , I think is a must. You have an assigned butler who handles everything for you, from planning excursions to making all your dinning reservations. The spa was very relaxing also. with the Royal service you have a private pool and beach, the bartender on the beach was awesome can very friendly. Amazing staff , beautiful beaches and great restaraunts.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Fantastic resort

Great hotel, very friendly staff, food was awesome, excellent service, fantastic shows, the grounds are very well kept. Special thanks to Luis (pool bar), and Judy (lobby bar) for their great service.

Melia Cayo Coco: Malia Cayo Coco

Had a fabulous time at the Malia, and people were so friendly. The food was great and the staff was so helpful and would do anything for you. The ocean when we went on October 15th to the 25th, was warmer than the pool. The pool area was great with lots of lounges and cabana's to shade the sun. Got burnt the first day, so had to use sunscreen the remainder of my time. The maids were great, and made the bed up every morning, and of course left one of those decorative swans made from a towel on th [... read more]e bed with flower peddles around the bed. When we left for our dinner at the buffet, we went to the lobby for refreshments and the entertainment was really good. The crowd there were applauding and appreciative of the entertainment, and the waiters were right there to accomadate you in whatever you wanted to drink. The staff at the resort were the best I have ever seen. I have travelled to many places , but this place I will be returning for sure. I was one for awakening at 5 am and would go for a coffee at the pool bar where I met people from all over the world and they would chat it up on their experiences at different resorts and were impressed with the service at the Melia. The staff at the pool bar would just tell me to sit down as they would know what coffee I was drinking and would bring it to my table. We would sit there with other people talking for at least 2-3 hrs about our life styles and in general, family, homes, and health of course. We didn't have anything bad to say about the service and the way you were treated by the staff there at the Melia. I would highly recommend this resort to people that are interested in great service , food, and the most important thing to most people is cleanliness, as the rooms and washrooms were spotless, and maintained on a regular basis. I can't say enough on how we enjoyed our trip to the Melia.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Just as pictured

This is my first all inclusive ever! Not knowing what to expect, I feel the hotel is everything as depicted by the pictures. The staff are super friendly, and helpful. The meals are well done, I honestly though preferred the buffet hall, the variety was more than enough and well prepared. the beach will take your breath away!!

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Excellent Value

Room was generous, very comfortable beds, superb personable service from EVERYONE whether in the resort, food areas or on the beach, beautiful beach and the food was great quality with an extensive selection to suit every taste. There was a very minor annoyance with the renovation inside the hotel which affected the time and route one had to take to get to places but that will disappear once the reno is complete of course.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Perfect resort - Royal Service is a must!

We visited Paradisus Rio De Oro on the last week of September. We booked directly through Trip Central to get the Royal Service. The advantage of doing so is that you get a private taxi from the Holguin airport to the resort, which is about a 1hr drive. When we arrived, we were the only clients arriving at the lobby and were served immediately. We had a glass of sparkling wine and a private 10-min tour of the Royal Service part of the resort. I have to say the "regular" part of the resort is, to [... read more] me, a 4-star, but the Royal Service part is truly a 5-star resort. The service is excellent - I really can't find any negative comments. The 3-level pool is wonderful with personal service by a very sweet server, an AMAZING view, so is the view at the private beach, that also has excellent service. The clients were really relaxed and conscious of other people - we usually get irritated by people who talk loud or yell or are drunk - but this resort is an adult-only resort, and the RS part also seems a lot more calm, probably because there is less people. The room was amazing, I would say 700-800 square feet, super clean and we had our bed prepared every night while we were out to dinner. We didn't really care about the a-la-carte restaurants, the Cuban is the only one we really liked. Next time, I think we would use the room service a little bit more for dinner, as the food as the RS is superior from the regular part of the resort. We had an excellent breakfest every morning with delicious mangos and pineapples, and excellent mojitos around the pool during the day. The wine isn't that good, but we didn't care as we always had a couple of drinks during the day. The beer is also great. We will definitely be back, this resort is the best all-inclusive we've had so far!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: exceptional

Royal Service section of the resort was terrific. Excellent personalized service, wonderful and spacious suites with outdoor shower. Good private beach and access to all a'la carte restaurants. Surprisingly good fod for Cuba.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Terrific Tryp

My husband and I travelled to the Tryp Cayo Coco Sept.29-Oct.6 2014 to surprise our friends who arrived there Sept.26....from the beginning we had a great trip flying with Sunwing airlines...when we arrived at the hotel I requested that we have a room closer to the lobby as bdlg 14 was too far for us to walk on a regular basis....the evening receptionist had no problems placing us in bdlg 6, our room was a little dated but had a great partial view of the ocean and full view of the pool, second f [... read more]loor....the next day they moved us to room 631...same floor but nicer room. Bith rooms were kept very clean by Evelyn, housekeeping she is amazing.....the restaurants at the Tryp are great.....the buffet for breakfast and lunch lots of choices, I always stick with the fresh eggs for breakfast, my husband loves the French toast and pancakes we always tip the chefs in buffets and food cooked perfectly Borges in the buffet makes sure that you feel like family everyday, male server works with Borges, also serves at beach restaurant for lunch great guy, sorry I did. On the Friday beach restaurant La Picua opened for lunch....BBQ's outside with roasted pig and other goodies inside menu with pizza burgers etc. and huge lobsters for 10 CUC, delicious, after that the beach restaurant open everyday for lunch.....have been told they are going to rebuild this restaurant in the near future...we had dinner a few times at the international restaurant Lorenzo is in charge there and he is amazing also the food there is great....the main lobby bar lots of fun, staff there terrific Osmani the bartender very attentive and also the waitress staff there great, they also have cappuccino there all day, as well as down stairs there is a 24 hour snack bar with sandwiches, drinks and cappuccino early in the morning for early risers...I started to take the cups from the room down for morning coffee so wouldn't have to take plastics cups back to the room....we managed to get a reservation in the Japanese restaurant....again the food was fabulous very filling we had the chicken and vegetables and it was a lot of food, Brian and I ordered 1 rice to share and never even ate it....we went to the BBQ restaurant early before the Mosquitos got too bad as it is outside, again great....the chef heard us ask if they had salad, they did not but he made us a great tomato cucumber salad with a little oil and vinegar...delicious, food and service there also great....we were extremely happy with the hotel staff.....William and Gelly in customer service there anytime we had a question. Over all the hotel is a very attractive property and kept very clean. I have already recommended the Tryp to family members who travelled there in August

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful resort, beautiful country!

Hotel grounds kept up beautifully-gardeners out every day. Units updated as needed-painters on site. Food options tremendous-only the pickiest eaters would have trouble finding something to eat. My daughter is Celiac and had no issues with the food. Kitchen staff available for consultation re: food requirements if necessary. All staff consistently helpful, friendly and a pleasure to deal with. This was our 3rd visit to this hotel and I highly recommend it to everyone. Don't be put off by the dis [... read more]tance of the hotel from the airport. The 90 minute ride is a wonderful tour of the Cuban towns and countryside. I put my camera on record through the towns. Loved all the colurs on the houses and iron work on the windows and doors. Highly recommend the excursions available-day trip to Havana, tour of Remeidios/Santa Clara, catamaran.

Paradisus Varadero: Best beach and pool anywhere....

You can't beat a resort with its own private deep beach, on its own very wide bay. outstanding sea views from anywhere and many oceanview rooms available; something other resorts which are built behind mangroves can't boast. Also the nicest landscaped, meandering pool anywhere. Terrific staff, decent food, comfortable and clean rooms. True 'on the beach' (and in the sand) lunch spot with live music.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: not 5 star hotel

Just came back from one week vacation with my husband and this is our 10th time in Cuba.Arrival : Sunwing representative was poor. Bus was filthy. Check in was unprofessional. Food was mediocre. Service was fare. Beaches were OK. Grounds were excellent. Room was dated not 5 star. Room service was good. We will never go back because it is not 5 star hotel as we will let to believe.(May be 3.5 star)
