Starfish Jibacoa: So much fun for so little money!

Don’t expect high end accommodations and exquisite food. But you can expect pure Cuban fun! The employees are so attentive and determined to show you real Cuban lifestyle. Laid back afternoons, ping pong tournaments, salsa dancing and poolside activities keep you busy all day long. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boating and wind surfing keeps the boredom at bay. If you just want a fun filled vacation and to share a drink with the locals, this is the place for you!

Starfish Jibacoa: wonderful resort to relax !

overall the resort is beautiful which is a 3 star resort and its right on the ocean despite recently hurricane they had there but they did a excellent job cleaning up and reopening the resort to bring back the tourism . staff and employees were all very friendly and helpful ... tours were arranged by air transit representative as being the very knowledgeable ! Hospitality services such as food and activities , pool , and bar , music were very good and lots to do down there . its a mixture of  [... read more]family and adults resort , they have a buffet dailey and food is quite good ...outside of the resort there are a few restuarants which out of this world especially seafood ! beaches area are sandy and white , there is a miles of walking along the ocean and massage therapy near by . the only issues l have are at night which is hard to see with no signs of rooms number which should be helpful and lobby area which includes bar should be lights and at night and use of more than one compute for the guests to use . At the time of being there l had one bad day of rain and most of the time hot and humid beautiful weather ! swimming pool is big and roomy ! lots of patio chairs and huts , pool was very warm !. l recommend for first time visits and for me l certainly will go back again if the prices are reasonable packages and lots of Canadians and Americas as well other countries . my room was clean and roomy and l was facing back to the nature looking at the mountains , room had a few wall paints that needs to be repainted and bathroom needs more water pressure for shower , toilets needs better upgrade , outlets electricity is okay , tv is ok. patio chairs outside of room good to relax .... listening to the birds and watching the folks . on my next trip l will ask for ocean view room . that it .

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

Beach was amazing. There is a very small section full of rocks in the water, but the rest is completely sand. Very clean beach as well. Avoid buffet at all costs. It's absolutely horrible food. I would feel bad feeding my dog with it. Cold pizza very crunchy under cooked rice, poor choices all around tried a little of everything and never wanted to go back. Always ate there when we didn't have a reservation for dinner. The menu choices isn't as big as I would like but at least it tastes good. Sakura (Japanese restaraunt) is a must try there book it early as it's almost always full on reservations. Some bars may be too generous with alcohol in cocktails so if you don't like one bar try another. Good selection of tours offered I'm sure you can find something you'll like. Havana tour was amazing, a little pricey, but you get a personal driver and a tour guide. Hotel staff is mostly good if you tip well. Cleaning room didn't do anything for 3 Cuban pesos they just made the bed and nothing else so we stopped tipping them all together. Had 2 rooms. One of them had an ac that was too old. Didn't do anything at all. Broken dresser in that room too. The other room was fine, definitely didn't feel like a 5 star but I guess that's only royal service rooms, the room with functioning ac was more of a 3 star, leaving 1 star for the rooms because of the other room.

Sol Palmeras: Nice Resort

Aging building but kept clean and nice location. Too bad Wifi is not included. Providing Wifi shall become the norm. Adjust the price and standardize it in all hotels. Avoid silly line ups for the basic services.

Melia Marina Varadero: Decent Resort

The resort was visually a 5 star. However, service lacked during our visit due to a convention being there at the same time, resulting in the hotel being at capacity. Normally the service would be adequate as all employees were observed to be working very hard to keep up with the pase. There were some stains on the bedroom walls and towels but simply asking politely solved these concerns. The food was nothing to complain about and for the most part was edible. The only negative would be the 5 minute walk from the lobby. But hey! Your in Cuba! Enjoy your outdoors time! The Marina side of the resort is great to look at but not very active. We had met a couple that was staying in the apartments on the far side of the Marina and they had to walk to the resort everyday for EVERYTHING, such as food, drinks, and entertainment, and then back to the apartments when they needed something. Mind you it’s approximately a 5 - 10 minute walk which can be aggravating if you have to do it multiple times a day. One piece of advise is to avoid the apartment side of the resort. Over all this was a great vacation and we enjoyed it very much. I would not go again simply because i want to experience other resorts in other destinations.

Hotel Los Cactus: Okay Resort

Stayed at Los Cactus October 21 to the 29th.Found this resort to be just okay. The main buildings are spread all over the place, and maybe because of the hurricanes or the season, there didn't seem to be enough staff around. The ones that were there , were absolutely amazing. These people work so hard to keep everyone happy. Our bathroom plumbing had some serious issues, and after trying to fix the problem , we were moved to a new room , in a much better building. The grounds were beautifully kept, lots of flowering shrubs , neat and tidy pathways. The beach is huge , lots of space. I assume the hurricane took all the sun shelters away, but umbrellas were provided. The beach is my happy place, so I can't comment on the pool, although it looked nice. Food is typical for Cuba.....some days better than others, but surely didn't starve. Not a place I would go back to , I really prefer the areas around Cayo Coco....

Hotel Los Cactus: Different than what I have experienced in Cuba

This was my first experience of Varadero as I usually stay in Cayo Coco. Was not really an experience I would care to repeat. I understand it was off season and there was still evidence of Irma. I was given a Tropical Suite which was beautiful and modern. My housekeeping woman, Marlene, looked after me very well. She was friendly, helpful and ensured a pleasant stay. As the week progressed, there was a wider variety of choices at the buffet. The wait staff were friendly and prompt. The enterta [... read more]inment was interesting, some I enjoyed immensely; some not so much but all was well done. There was only one bellhop so wait times were long for luggage moving. There was no wait staff at any of the bars or the lobby itself. All things considered, it was an adventure but would not return.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great resort

We were in building 31, the rooms were newly renovated, new beds, beautiful bathrooms, hot water, new furniture, I just can't say enough about the newly renovated rooms. There was a group of 5 of us. My sister, her daughter and grandson booked a different resort which they weren't satisfied with and were able to transfer to Memories for a small fee. The food was better than before, there was enough selection that our group of 8 were satisfied at each meal. The pools were being cleaned daily  [... read more]and the beach was groomed daily. The staff was friendly and would go out of their way to try and find what you wanted to drink. (red wine or campaign in the lobby). They only thing that we were disappointed with was that the Michael Jackson show was on Saturday night. We landed late Sat night and left at 7:00pm the following Sat night and weren't able to see it. The aquatics night was fabulous. Where can you go that you can eat out daily, drink till your hearts continent and not have to cook or clean. Make the best of it and enjoy that you are with friends and family.

Hotel Los Cactus: Modest resort - good service - lots of different common areas

older resort, amenities are spread out over resort vs having all amenities at center of resort - this was good if you want to enjoy different spaces. hammocks around resort, loved the fresh baked buns, food always available, tasty cuban sandwiches at the beach grill, always could find an umbrella & loungers at the beach & a hot tub by a private bar was fun too. oceanview in the villas by the pool are updated, clean & have good AC units - would recommend requesting these units.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort!

Tasty food. Friendly service. Clean and beautiful beach. Lots of different water/shore activities. Good thing thst hotel is only for adults. Close to Varadero, only 15 minutes driving on moped which you can rent at front desk Highly recommend!

Sol Palmeras: Staff at Sol Palmeras

My stay at Sol Palmeras 2 weeks ago was absolutely amazing! The staff are wonderful,caring people that make you feel so special. The food is very good and the Buffet Restaurant is beautiful...the renovation was completed by the time I arrived. Playa Vista Azul: Ok resort

Hotel was clean. Grounds and public areas were lovely. There is a need for more lighting on the walkways. It was very difficult when walking back to the room in the dark. The staff were all amazing, very friendly and helpful! The rooms were adequate. Not up to the standards of which I am used to for a hotel rated that high.

Be Live Turquesa: BeLive Turquesa

The staff have done an amazing job of cleaning up after the storm. Hotel being painted, new beach huts etc. Staff VERY friendly and helpful. Food was good....Red Snapper was amazing.....Have been to this hotel 10 times and intend to return.

Melia Varadero: Beautiful resort!

The Hotel is surprisingly in good shape after Irma. There is some damage to the balconies which are currently being fixed. What I love at this hotel is the proximity of everything, beach, restaurants, pool. The staff is extremely friendly! What I found is missing is some entertainment at piano bar located outside. There was no music at night in that area.

Roc Barlovento: Nice Resort

Rooms were dated but were clean and the bed was comfortable. Public areas were clean, lots of trees and grass. Ala carte restaurants were tasty and the buffet restaurant had cooking stations with a good selection of fresh food made in front of you Staff were friendly and helpful. Being adult only the age spread was from young adults to seniors. roaming cats and dogs made this resort unique. Great location downtown, walking is safe in town and you can walk the beach forever.

Playa Vista Azul: Wonderful

Had a great trip manager and staff amazing was emailing back and forth with the manager regarding a member of our group who needed special treatment and he delivered so compassionate thanks so much Mr Jefe ❤️

Playa Vista Azul: “Privileged” holiday at a great hotel!

This was my first trip to Cuba and this hotel was very nice! My Mom and my sisters did the privilege upgrade which was great and well worth the price. The privilege bar was excellent - thanks to Mikael and team! The Neptune privilege restaurant was really good and much better than the other restaurants we tried. The staff were so nice - Katia and everyone else who works there are fantastic! We stayed in the main building and loved the Infinity pool! Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: great resort for the price

Very very friendly and accommodating staff. Room was clean. Had to unplug the fridge because it clunked through the night and woke us up. No big deal we just plugged it back in in the morning. Only one store to shop at for all your needs. Do it there because airport shopping is slim pickins. Food options are plentiful but quality not the same as other countries as most people comment in reviews for Cuba. Beach is amazing.

Palma Real: Not that great!!

The hotel went down hill even from 3mths ago when I was there. The pool with the pool bar was closed for renos which is understandable, but the other pool was so filthy I could feel slim on my feet when they touched the bottom. I get the Cuba resort food as not my first time, and I can find basics and just go eat out sometimes as Im not picky, but this was an all time low of disgusting...bordering dangerous. Basically like slop...everything mixed together with what looked like food from the week [... read more]s before. Very nasty. The bar staff (with the exception of a few) are very rude and like to make you wait even when you are a god tipper, like they are doing you a favour. The WORST was the blonde lady at the beach bar...looked at you like she had a serious problem with you and even said something rude about us to our Cuban friend. Mold in most of the rooms from what the other guests were saying, including mine.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Be live Experience Varadero

I think this is a hotel where you really get value for your dollar. The room (in the hotel) was great, clean and a wonderful view from the balcony. The food was good. The pool was great and the ocean in walking distance. The beach was clean. The staff was great and helpful. The resort was clean. That is why it was the 4th time I have been to this hotel.
