El Dorado Seaside Suites: A MAAZ ZIIING!!
ABSOLUTLY loved our swim up!! service was immedicable and attention to detail was unexpected and was so lovely....while on the beach[in a lovely beach bed I must say] cold clothes brought around as well as popsicles and cold water on a regular basis and the trays of fresh fruit and the delicious wee sliders...yum. so decadent! the staff were incredibly friendly, happy and on point! my husband and I were just saying as well we've never met so many nice people as we did on this trip.... all the me[... read more]als were fabulous whether we dined in the many restaurants or ordered from room service, we enjoyed every thing,,,especially at the times when the mariachi band would show up at the various restaurants and play, can't wait to come back! the beach was not perfect with all the seaweed [even the there was staff diligently working 24//7 raking and removing] and it was quite rocky in areas as well as being shallow..but we still enjoyed it...the pools were lovely tho and easy to get to!

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Incredible Resort
This resort has very friendly hard working staff, amazing food and couldn’t be any cleaner. Only downfall this past visit was the seaweed on the beach, but the workers worked non stop to try and clear it. Not the resorts fault just mother nature’s.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great resort with a few flaws.
This hotel was beautiful, clean and very well groomed grounds. The service staff were very attentive, friendly and polite. The specialty restaurants provided excellent food and selection.
On the negative side, we were very disappointed with:
1.) The buffet food. Although there was a good variety for both breakfast and lunch, any foods that were not specifically ordered and cooked on a grill were cold, when they should have been hot.
2.) The beach. We loved the fact that we could [... read more]snorkel from the beach and that it contained coral reefs, however, the shore was stony and following a windy day with wave action, there was a great deal of weed on the beach which was not cleared for several days.
3.) Adult only pool was wonderful but often didn't have enough chairs for the guest demand.
4.) It was unfortunate that the entertainment did not commence until after 10:00 p.m. which we found late after a full day of activities in the sun.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful Holiday!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Grand Bahia Principe Coba. Melanie Johnson did a great job recommending this to us. Staying at the Premier Coba site was a perfect choice. We had great service from all the staff and the facility was beautiful. One item that I particularly enjoyed was the bottled water. Bottled water was plentiful and all the restaurants provided bottled water as a staple, the ice is also made from bottled water so no need to worry about getting sick from that. T[... read more]he food was excellent everywhere, the Gourmet Restaurant was exceptional. There is always entertainment and activities at the pools and lobbies. Overall this was a great holiday and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I would also recommend Melanie, she did a great job!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Blue bay - fantastic food
Everything was great, was a lot of seaweed at the beach, but that is everywhere apparently, didn't affect us......also buildings are very dated, which didn't matter other than the bathtub design. The staff is great and the food is excellent. You can swim in the ocean....a nice lazy river is a ten minute walk from the beach.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Disappointed!
At a glance, the hotel is very pretty. Grounds are very well kept and clean. Service staff are very friendly and work very hard. I feel we paid quite a bit of money ($2,139.00) on the pretense we were to receive luxury service. We paid additional fees for the "Sapphire Club" All inclusive-Ocean view and I'm not sure how it is even categorized. As for ocean view- the only way to view the ocean was to step out to the railing on the terrace and crank your head to the left. We were suppose to be pro[... read more]vided with queen-size beds, had doubles. When we first checked-in we received a "sales pitch" about upgrading to "Privilege", and we told the cost would range an additional $60-$75 US. per person, per day!! We also discussed meals, since we had paid for all-inclusive, we were told À la carte dinners are unlimited, no reservations required, but when we went to each restaurant, we were told the Privilege had actual reservations, which left us standing, waiting in long line-ups, and or having to go back to our room and order a simple burger & fry! Also, the alcohol provided at this level was less than good, but I was told if I had "Privilege" I would have premium selection or I could purchase it for $5.00 a glass. Our mini-fridge was re-stocked each day with 2 beers and when asked to have 2 each were told, no!
So all in all, the weather was great.. and I enjoyed our excursions but I would not return or recommend this resort to anyone.

Paraiso de la Bonita: Great place but.....
This is a super relaxing place, great service , accomadations and food. Unfortunately the beach was unswimable and one day in particular smelled like a sewer. Too bad the seaweed is piled high on the beach and a big tractor goes back and forth in front of the lounges carrying this smelly stuff to who knows where. They have a nice covered bed on the beach which they say costs 160. US and it remained empty the 5 days we were there. Well there was only a few people who braved laying on the beach in [... read more]the first place. The pools however were great especially the salt pool.
I will not return unless the beach is totally cleaned and the water swimmable. Hopefully this will happen! In the meantime they should be slashing the prices!!

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Paradise = Paraiso
It is very easy to describe your vacation at Iberostar Grand Paraiso.........."Paradise". Just as the dictionary describes it: A place of great beauty and happiness.
Upon entering the main lobby you are stuck with a view of a botanical garden directly in front of you......One of the largest we have seen indoors. Your mouth opens wider when you look up and see a Sistine chapel equivalent ceiling. Leaving the main lobby you enter a causeway that highlights a gondola on the right, ultimately bri[... read more]nging you to a lobby the Super Bowl could have been played in. The only difference was that you could have eaten off this marble floor, it WAS that clean. Our room was off this lobby.
The beauty and cleanliness continued outdoors. It appears every blade of grass, bush, tree or flower is manicured. These appear to be expertly placed throughout the property and around the larger salt water pool and slightly smaller fresh water pool. This is all accented by the architecture of the buildings themselves and various columns surrounding the pools and walkways.
Beauty is not only on exhibit with the property, buildings and overall grounds, but most importantly it is displayed by the staff of the Grand Paraiso. It is their overall approach to you - can we get anything for you, do you need anything, how can we be of service.
Specifically, I want to highlight a few individuals who made our vacation most special, and one of the best ever.
We had pre-booked a few a la carte restaurants before leaving home. The others were expertly booked upon arrival by Maili at the building 72 concierge. She may be small in stature, but she stood very tall on results. Some of these reservations we changed numerous times during our stay, and on each occasion Maili delivered, without hesitation. She also surprised and overwhelmed us with rose petals at our dinner table one night, followed by rose petals leading to our hot tub and bed. The whole arrangement was very spectacular and very thoughtful.
Any fantastic vacation is always as a result of the people that do what they believe is small or inconsequential. However to my wife and I, these all added up, to really be a big deal and leave a genuine impression of caring:
* Marcelo, Humberto, Juan, Joel and Santiago (aka Ryan Gosling) - the pool team
*Upon request, collectively each day, these gentlemen offered suggestions on best options for dinner per our selected restaurants. In each occasion, they were 100% spot-on.
*Marcelo, upon request and without hesitation applied sunscreen to my and many other individuals backs
*Humberto and Joel found cushions and additional chaise loungers when they heard we were looking for some
*Juan, took the time from his busy schedule to retrieve the Gourmet restaurant menu, so we could discuss and choose the best options for us. He actually ran on his injured leg, so that we were not left waiting
* Santiago (aka Ryan Gosling) went out of his way to find my wife a comfortable floaty that would accommodate her sore back
We spent time on the beach, a few days by the larger salt water pool, but mostly we camped out at the fresh water pool. Our decision was mostly based upon the incredible service offered by Mirna. You were never left wanting for anything while Mirna was on duty. A little known fact we discovered a few days into our vacation. Mirna makes her own drinks, as she is also a licenced bartender. Her margarita's were the best we have had anywhere. She always appeared just as you were thinking about another beverage, her timing and service was impeccable.
The activity team was great as they positioned all activities with enthusiasm, but were never pushy. We participated in the excellent aquafit classes run by Ivan M. and Eloy (Teddy Bear).
You cannot complete a review without mentioning the incredible quality of the food offered, as well as the plentiful options. Toni's was our favorite, but they were all incredible, as was the service. A special shoutout to Javiar (Toni's), Olivia (Bella Vista), Alberto (Bella Vista) and Jordan (Gourmet). Olivia made gluten free options for my wife upon request. Jordan, upon hearing the conversation between the table beside us and my wife and I made our evening. We were discussing how we each enjoyed our wine selection. Jordan set up a private wine tasting allowing each couple to sample and choose the best. This was in addition to Jordan's incredible and attentive service.
Wine tasting was also offered by the resort sommelier, Richard. Richard did an excellent job featuring many interesting and outstanding red and white selections.
Our last night capped off an incredible week of very happy and enjoyable times. Upon completing an excellent dinner at the new Caribbean restaurant, we stepped out into an awesome live band performance. The 10 piece band was perched on a floating dock in the large pool. Their music had many people dancing wherever there was any space.
Iberostar Grand Paraiso offers a "Paradise" setting, but what set it apart from any other resort we have visited, were the incredible people that genuinely want to ensure you have the best vacation possible. All I can say is that they succeeded.
We want to join the growing number of repeat Grand Paraiso customers as soon as possible.....there is no question we will be back.

The staff is what made this vacation exceptional for us. They are hardworking, friendly and always helpful. The grounds for this adult only hotel was kept immaculately. The food was always well prepared and delicious with always plenty to eat. The drinks at the bar was always stocked with my favourite type of gin 'Bombay '. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Lovely resort!
We had a few hiccups but it ended being a great vacation. They sprayed our room twice for bugs and after that we didn't see anymore. Our Jacuzzi didn't work but within 5 mins the man was there to fix it. They gave us an interview and wrote down all the areas that we thought they could improve on. They really aim to please and accept any constructive criticism. Pools were clean, lots of lounge chairs, great games around the pool and good entertainers at night.

I would have [... read more]definitely not booked this resort had I known that -I’m a beach person don’t go into pools so definitely disappointed!!!!!
Also there was a constant smell coming from the beach that made me feel ill at times One day while laying on the beach a tractor dropped a bunch of seaweed and we had to leave the smell was so overwhelming!!!!!
This resorts should not be charging this amount of money until they fix this problem!!!!
This was my first time and I’ve been to Mexico resorts all over Mexico at least 25 times that I’ve not got in the Ocean :((

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Everything You'd Want in a Resort
Secrets Akumal turned out to be as good as the reviews said;
from facilities, to food, to service, to beach and ocean's water, to entertainment, were five star!
We were an older couple (67) who prefer the more tranquil get-away-from-winter resorts and we were more than pleased to spend the week in the sun and fun of Secrets Akumal
We will definitely return! A big thank you to all the hard working staff who made our stay a pleasure.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great Resort!
The resort was modern and clean. The food was fantastic at not only the buffet but also at the variety of 'a la carte' restaurants available.
The resort as a whole was beautiful with swim out units in front and back of most of the buildings. We picked a balcony unit this time but if we were to do it again we would want a swim out unit.
They had activities each day and evening. We especially enjoyed the Reggae band on the beach one evening. Since we were at the Platimum resort we had full[... read more] access to the ajoining Grand Princess resort. Our room was modern and very clean. The staff were excellent and very friendly.
Our only disappointment was the beach. The beach in front of the resort is rocky once you enter the water. It is nice to relax on the sand beach but not for going in the water without water shoes. This was not a problem because we accessed the beach at the Grand Princess and were able to swim there - only a 5 minute walk.
Overall we were very happy to have chosen the Platinum Yucatan Princess All Suites Resort for a fun and relaxing time.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Amazing week!
Loved mostly everything about this resort. Food was amazing. Had to wait for the blue moon restaurant for about an hour, but we showed up close to 8pm so kind of expected that. The beach had a lot of seaweed but they were out all day trying to clean it up. Losing battle but they did an amazing job. Had no issues getting a lounger near the pool but we were up by 8am. Any later than that and you likely wont get an umbrella, there were still plenty available on the beach all day. Bar service aroun[... read more]d the pool was good too. I would definitely recommend this resort! We had an awesome time!
