Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beautiful and friendly!
This was our fourth time visiting the Princess hotels, my first at Yucatan. It's beautiful there. Quiet and friendly atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and polite - Amaury, Javier, and unfortunately I forgot the man who helped us at the front desk to change rooms. They were all great! The beach, unfortunately, had too may rocks.
This being said, we did spend almost all of our time over at Sunset - which is GORGEOUS NOW!!! The renovations are immaculate. I loved it there so much! T[... read more]he staff were not as friendly as Yucatan though.

Bahia Principe Escape Tequila: Grand Bahía Tequila
Hotel is spotless, this included rooms and grounds.
Very disappointed about the ala carte restaurants. We were only able to get one reservation during the entire week even though we had been promised three.
Pool was really nice.
Resort staff are extremely excellent.
Special shout out to Valery at the check in desk at Tequila.
A room charge had mistakenly been made to our room from the sports bar and she worked tirelessly to ensure this charge was removed before we checked out.
This is[... read more] something everyone should be aware of because you have to charge things to your room ( top shelf liquor) and if the wait staff makes an error it is difficult to fix.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Average Resort - Good for families with young children
Overall, my stay at the resort was average. While there were some positive aspects, several issues negatively affected the experience.
Check-in & Service:
The website advertised concierge check-in, a fruit basket, a bottle of wine in the room, and assistance with booking à la carte restaurants for the Select Club Adults section; however, none of these inclusions were provided. I raised this with staff during check-in, but unfortunately, no action was taken. Some front desk interactions also [... read more]felt less friendly than expected. That said, most of the wait staff throughout the resort were very friendly and helpful.
Food & Dining:
The à la carte restaurant food was underwhelming, and I ultimately preferred the buffet. Desserts across all restaurants were particularly disappointing, with very limited appealing options.
Facilities:
Some areas near the buildings had a strong and unpleasant odor. The adults-only pool area was very quiet and relaxing, which was a plus, but the restaurant service there was extremely slow, with long waits for orders. My room was clean but very dated. The balcony was quite small, with space for only one chair and no table. Two chairs were provided, but if both were used, there was very little legroom, making it uncomfortable for two people to sit at the same time.
Entertainment:
There was no engaging entertainment specifically offered for the adults-only section in the day, except a DJ on the beach from 1-4 which was not that great. The entertainment available in the family section was largely geared toward families with children.

El Dorado Royale: Amazing Resort and Staff
We just returned from a seven-night stay at El Dorado Royale. We’ve been to Mexico many times, but this was our first visit to this resort. Wanting to try somewhere new—and having heard great things—we decided to give it a chance, and we’re so glad we did.
I’m someone who loves quiet mornings with a book and a coffee, followed by more social afternoons, and this resort made that balance effortless. With so many pools to choose from, it was easy to find exactly the vibe we were looking for at[... read more] any given time.
The true hidden gem for us was the Health Bar pool. We discovered it on our first day and, for a while, felt like we had our own private oasis. As the week went on, more guests found their way there, which only made it better—we got to know people, shared laughs, and made some wonderful new friends.
A huge shout-out to Mavili, who served us lunch there every single day. She is absolutely amazing—attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful. She made us feel so welcome and truly elevated our experience. A real treasure.
In the evenings, we often visited the martini bar, and the staff there were just as amazing. A huge shout-out to Joseline, who took incredible care of us and made sure all our needs were met. Her warmth and attention truly stood out and made our evenings even more enjoyable.
Another special mention goes to Isareli, who checked on us daily at the Health Bar pool to ensure everything was perfect. That level of care and consistency did not go unnoticed and really speaks to the exceptional service at this resort.
The food throughout the resort was excellent, the rooms were cleaned in a timely manner, and room service was great. The grounds were immaculate, and I loved being only a short twenty-minute ride from the airport.
Before we even arrived, I messaged the resort to let them know it was our 35th anniversary. David Ortiz immediately responded, making sure we would be well taken care of—and we absolutely were. In celebration of our anniversary, we did the candlelight beachside dinner, which was absolutely spectacular—a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you David.
I highly recommend this resort, and honestly, the staff alone would bring us back without hesitation.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Three Star Resort ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
My wife and I have travelled quite a bit, so we know what to expect at resorts. Here is our honest review of our recent seven-night stay at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort.
The resort gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The resort is large and visually impressive, with a wide range of activities geared toward families. While it is clearly family oriented, there are several well-designed adults-only areas throughout the property, which helps balance the atmosphere.
Our check-in was quick due to our late arrival, alth[... read more]ough during our stay we frequently observed very long check-in lines in the lobby. Dining was mixed overall. Some options were enjoyable, while others were disappointing. The buffet by the bridge overlooking the water was particularly poor, with long food lines and unappealing conditions. In contrast, the buffet across from Nido in the red building was consistently excellent.
The adults-only KIIN beach area stood out as one of the best features of the resort. It offered beachside food service delivered by a waiter, the food quality was excellent, and it also provided an air-conditioned indoor area to relax, enjoy drinks, play pool, and have snacks, including bite-sized sandwiches, pretzels, peanuts, and cookies.
The Sandos app was functional and made it easy to book à la carte restaurants. We were able to secure five reservations during our seven-night stay. However, only the Japanese restaurant and Los Lirios were truly good. Late-night dining options were extremely limited, with Nido being the only venue open after 11 p.m. The menu there is restricted to beef and chicken tacos or burritos, and the quality was poor. On one occasion, I observed uncovered cooked chicken and beef in the kitchen sitting in stainless steel hot pans with insects buzzing about, which was very concerning.
Bar service was another weak point. Many bars appeared understaffed, often with only one bartender, resulting in long lineups. Several bartenders seemed disengaged, with little friendliness or enthusiasm. While drink quality was generally decent and some higher-end brands were available, cleanliness in the bars, restrooms, seating areas, and other common spaces could be significantly improved.
Some of the food safety and handling practices, along with the lack of cleanliness, could be why many people report getting sick. However, we never got sick, as we were careful about where and what we ate.
The beach itself was well maintained, though guests should expect frequent approaches from vendors attempting to sell items. While not aggressive, the interruptions were constant. The main pool area was very crowded, and the water was dirty, with noticeable sand accumulation on the pool floor.
Wi-Fi coverage across the resort was generally reliable, with only minor issues on parts of the beach. The live entertainment was excellent, with the Michael Jackson show being a highlight. The resort’s location is convenient, situated about ten minutes from Walmart and Fifth Avenue, with access to taxis, Uber, InDrive, or a low-cost shuttle that runs twice daily.
Our one-bedroom pool-view suite was quite worn and in need of renovation. The television was outdated, the floors were cracked, and there was broken furniture and damaged electrical outlets. Paint was peeling, and the air-conditioning filters were extremely dirty, appearing not to have been cleaned in a long time. The layout was also problematic, with no door separating the bedroom from the living room and no doors on the bathrooms. While the toilet is enclosed in a small separate room, the overall design felt impractical. This suite is not well suited for families, and housekeeping was below expectations.
The water park was clean and well maintained, but food options were very limited and of poor quality. If you plan to drink alcohol at the water park, make sure to bring a reusable cup, as alcohol is not served there.
Overall, while there were several positive aspects to our stay, the experience was not strong enough for me to consider returning or recommending to others.

Grand Riviera Princess: NICE RESORT
Riviera Princess resort side was closed for rennovation. Stayed at Princess Sunset side, which was recently updated.
ROOM; was looking nice with new lighting and temperature controls. However, there were issues; 1. shower water leaks under glass partition into the toilet area. 2. No shelving for shampoo etc so bending to the floor to pick up items. 3. Smoke detector lost a screw and was left hanging. 4. Bug found on bathroom floor remained for all 10 days. 5. No rack on balcony or bathro[... read more]om to hang swim suites to dry. 6. Ony coffee provided, had to ask for coffee mate and sugar. No tea or creamer provided. 7. Jetted spa tub was replaced with a free -standing tub in the Junior Deluxe Suite. We wanted the jetted tub.
Bed was good. Controls for light and air very good. Fridge restocked each day. Quiet room looking over pool river.
FOOD; EXCELLENT FOOD at both a la cartes and buffet.
GROUNDS; OK, could have been cleaner on some paths re tree droppings etc.
POOLS; Excellent condition and cleaned daily. No shortage of lounge chairs.
BEACH; Sand was nice and clean. Water was very warm and fairly clear. A few rocks on entry, but mostly sand allowing to walk way out. Sphagnum moss was not a big issue.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa El Beso: FANTASTIC RELAXING VACATION
This was our 3rd time at OCT, but first time in El Beso. We had a great stay (10 of us all together). We did enjoy the Adults Only aspect this time, but not necessarily a must have in the future.
Resort was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Food at the buffet was always very good with plenty of options. The Mexican fare offered at every meal was always so good. We ate at the El Beso Breakfast restaurant one morning. Food was good, but personally I preferred the Buffet. We [... read more]also ate at the Japanese, the Italian and the Villa Marina. All wonderful meals and the booking app worked fine for us to get booked. The fact that there are not many seating spots available when you get in it at 10 am was a bit frustrating (more so for getting all 10 of us together- Guest services wasn't able to help with this either unfortunately). If we didn't get in tho, it was no big deal as the buffet was always delicious. The best lunches we had were at the Village Marina Snack bar. Their shrimp and/or pork tacos were amazing. A must try. We tried to get into the Ocean burger but unfortunately, waited 20 mins with only a menu dropped off and no further service, even after asking to place our orders. We went to the buffet instead.
The resort is impeccably clean, all the staff were very friendly and wanted you to enjoy your meals, drinks and rooms etc while you were there. Elizabeth, in the entertainment group was fantastic. She was always encouraging us to join in the activities, and we ended up having a great time doing so. Bartending, bingo, bracelets, painting and karaoke.
The beach is wonderful, always clean. There wasn't much seaweed (I do NOT like seaweed at all- honest statement) when we were there ( Nov 29-Dec 6), but the tractor was still running getting up anything it could. The beach is not your typical crystal-clear turquoise water ocean, but still clean and enjoyable.
We enjoyed most of our pool time at the El Beso pool. It was always clean and enjoyable. Ricardo always brought around great drinks for us whether at the pool or the beach. Iceburgs are my new favorite.
Our rooms were cleaned most days, and mini fridge stocked as described in offerings. Some in our group did not get the same attention tho. There was a musty smell in the room when we first got there, but that is typical when no fresh air allowed in for a time. It diminished as the week went on.
We took a cab into Puerto Morales one day for a breakup of the week. It was $44 US for four of us round trip. arranged just outside the resort, ask if the alligator is available for viewing if you stop in. This is a typical thing for us to do as it is close and something we enjoy. There is a bike tour that is offered to ride here from the resort as well. We like walking around the village, checking out the grocery store and then having fresh mango margaritas with chips and pico beside the ocean while pelican watching.
Will we be back for a 4th time?? absolutely. recommend ?? absolutely. 6 in our group had not been here before, but said they would definitely be back!
My wife and I recently stayed at Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal in the Mayan Riviera for 11 days, and the experience exceeded our expectations on nearly every level.
We stayed in a swim-out suite, which was absolutely worth it. The room was spacious, well maintained, and a perfect way to start and end each day. The resort itself is beautifully laid out, easy to navigate with passenger carts regularly shuttling guests to and from each of the adjoining resorts. The Tequila resort opened while we [... read more]were there (on Dec 1st) and it looks amazing.
The à la carte dining was a standout. We dined at 10 different restaurants, and the food quality and service were consistently excellent. Each restaurant felt distinct, the menus were well thought out, and service was attentive without being intrusive.
Overall service throughout the resort was very good, with friendly, professional staff who clearly take pride in what they do. From housekeeping to restaurants to common areas, the team created a welcoming and comfortable environment. A special shout out to Miguel at Bar 66 on the beach. He's one of the best bartenders at the resort. The only thing that could have been improved was the drink service at the pools. We often would not see a server for hours.
The evening shows were entertaining and well produced (especially the magician and the "Lumina" act), offering a nice variety and a fun way to wind down after the day. The weather was excellent throughout our stay, which only added to the enjoyment.
My wife and I both had a fantastic time and would absolutely return to this resort without hesitation. It strikes a great balance between comfort, quality dining, good entertainment, and a genuinely enjoyable atmosphere.
A special thank you to Nicolle Kirk at TripCentral, who booked this trip for us. Her recommendation was excellent, and the experience reinforced the value of working with a knowledgeable travel professional.
Highly recommended. David and Karla Melsted

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort
We loved this hidden gem of a resort. Staff were excellent and made our staff enjoyable. The food and entertainment were wonderful. The beach was clean and easy to swim in, the pool was also clean and cool to swim in. We loved the pool exercise and many drink bars throughout the resort. The only thing I would improve is the beach/ pool chair availability. We had to get chairs at 6:00 am or may not get them. I would also suggest to sell sunscreen in the gift shop. Hilton Cancun: Amazing resort
Resort was amazing. Our room was very modern. Nice and big and always clean. All the food was delicious. A la cart restaurants were very easy to book and always available. There were always chairs available around the pools, most having umbrellas.
The shows are a little too early. I think they gear them around the children. We missed most as we were eating dinner at that time.
The one thing that bothered me is we had a late check-in which resulted in a late check out. They told us if we u[... read more]sed any of the amenities after the noon checkout we had to pay $10 per hour/per person. So to sit on a lounger at the pool we had to pay. Funny thing is, we didn’t get a refund for the amenities we didn’t use when we arrived at 9:00 pm.
All in all, I would return for the many other wonderful qualities of this resort.
