Muthu Colonial Hotel: "Horrible Run Down Resort"

This was a horrible vacation resort, run down, dirty,terrible food, the worst customer service I have ever encountered, mold on walls, broken staircases, uneven walkways, unsanitary pools,dirty beach.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort

Amazing resort, beautiful/spacious rooms, gorgeous beach strip/perfect pool. Average food, but a la carte restaurant was good. Fresh shakes in the morning were great. There is a live band in outdoor restaurant which added to the ambiance. Shows were ok. Amazing deal for a great hotel!!!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: A 3 dressed up as a 9!

The resort was itself was beautiful but was managed very poorly. The first morning we waited 40 minutes for an omlette just to be told they had no eggs on site, missed breakfeast altogether. Concierge neglected to make our reservation at the a la carte restaurant so we missed out on our dinner. We were upgraded to the VIP section but it was a 25 minute walk to the main resort. The shuttles were extemely scarce!! On the last night we called for the shuttle to take us to our resevation at the al l [... read more]a carte restaurant. The shuttle never came, so we walked there only to be denied entry to beacause of a dress code that we were not even informed of ( I was dressed in dress shorts, not pants) missed yet another meal. In a positive light the buffet staff where extremely attentive and the shuttle drivers where very friendly..

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Not a 4* resort!

This resort has potential, but sadly it seems that it is not maintained well. Mold on the outside of the buildings. Public areas seemed clean. Rooms - ok, however, mold in the bathroom. Pillows looked grey and stained; sheets stained. Only one buffet and one À la carte open. Buffet and snack bar would run out of foods on a regular basis. The food and service were well below it's claimed 4* rating. Did not go into the pool that was safe to use - did not look too inviting. Salt water pool was cl [... read more]osed off due to poor appearance and lack of proper maintenance. Beach was nice, but again, sadly, littered with plastic cups, bags and more garbage. Nobody seemed to clean the beach during my 7-day stay. This was very disappointing. Night entertainment was fine - I mostly appreciated Cuban music groups coming to the resort and playing live music. This was not my first time to Cuba, so I was not visiting with unrealistic expectations. I would most definitely choose another hotel for my next visit to Cayo Coco. An overall 3*, however in some areas I would give it less than 3*.

Blau Varadero: It's an ok get away

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) The resort itself is nice, friendly staff and clean room. One thing I don't really like is the elevator, too long to wait to go in and out of your room.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: 8 th time to Cuba

Would not return to this particular hotel perhaps low season food poor at the buffet. been to different resorts in cuba 8 times....all others were better. For me this is not a 5 star as shown in the entrance lobby.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful Resort

This hotel was very well kept they were always cleaning whether it be the floors, gardens or pools it was done 24/7. The staff were great attended to your needs immediately. The entertainment was well done and professional.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great resort!

This resort was great! We went in low season, so there weren't a lot of people. We often had the beach all to ourselves! We were upgraded to the Cayo Libertad area of the resort, which has it's own private beach/pool/a la carte restaurant and lovely suites, but the other resort facilities were available as well. The beach was just fantastic; beautiful sand that stretches way out into the ocean. The service was great, especially the shuttle guys that can take you from one end of the resort to the [... read more] other quickly. The maids always provided beautiful blanket/pillow art each day and the suite was always very clean. The food has a lot of variety, although it is bland as most people say. The bar service is fast and the drinks are good.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: ppppffff

I was expecting a nice place and good food. There was a great beach, but a ugly cuisine. Now I don't want to go again. The airport was horrible.... People was friendly and helpful. The beach was the best.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great beach resort

We are two couples who just returned from a week at the Blau and it was a great holiday! We really enjoyed snorkeling off the beach last year when we stayed next door at the Playa Costa Verde but did not like the entertainment there (can't stand these fashion shows every second night as well as the chamber music??). We decided to try the Blau as we were told the entertainment was much better there and we were not disappointed. The shows were very good. Our only complaint is that they should hav [... read more]e some dancing music after dinner until show time like they have at most resorts. It would be nice to dance under the stars as we have very little chance to do that at home! We did not upgrade our rooms but they were fine, the maid service was excellent and the location was ideal as we like to be close to everything and the VIP buildings were far from the beach and buffet. One concern though was how dark the hallway was - we could hardly read our room no. in the evening - it could be a safety issue - most of the lights were turned off (to save money??). The lobby and public bathrooms do need renovations - they are in bad disrepair - broken door locks, missing toilet seats. The food at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants was tasty varied. On the weekend though - the line-ups at the buffet were long because of the local Cuban families visiting. It was also much noisier at the shows. It must be very crowded in the winter. We would not stay there in the busy season. All in all it was a great stay and good value for our money!

Blau Varadero: Fun Resort.

Had a wonderful stay at the Blau Varadero. I traveled on my own from September 19 to the 25. All staff was friendly and kind. The selection of food varied and it was good. I especially enjoyed the paella by the pool. The pool area was fun and lively. I was lucky and had great weather with some cloudy periods. Lastly the beach is most beautiful. (I went sailing as it is included in your package. And paid 20 pesos to go snorkling...fun!) It is where I spent my time. White powdery sand and Cerulean [... read more] blue water. Wow! I was lucky to meet some wonderful people during my stay from the staff to my lovely friends from England! ...cheers to all!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: worth only once

Good resort, we checked in PLUS section, which is way better than the regular. Rocky beach. Good place for snorkeling. Food was not that great for first couple of days and then quality improved may be because of British tourist. Staff was very cooperative. Pool was in great shape. Plus section is more quieter.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach

We stayed at the Blau Costa Verde in August and the we loved it. The beach is beautiful, the staff is very helpful and happy. The food was good and the lots to choose from. This resort is good for R&R and that exactly what we needed. If you are looking for night life this is not the place to be. Paying the little extra for the upgrade was worth it - the nice pool, VIP bar and Miguel at the swim up bar made it all worth it.

Blau Varadero: Wonderful

Spend a wonderful week at the Blau.Beaches,food and staff were great. Really have no negative things about the resort other than they could use some better ventilation or AC in the fitness center. I would return to this resort again.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great time at this resort

I spent a week with my granddaughters at this resort. One granddaughter is a very picky eater, but she was able to find good pizza, pasta, eggs and chicken. The other granddaughter loves seafood so she enjoyed the food. The Fontella Restarant gave us great service and the food was well presented and very tasty. Beautiful beach, fresh water pool, and the salt water pool, which is now getting updated. The staff were very warm and friendly and went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable. The o [... read more]ne thing I enjoyed the most and can not say enough about is the tremendous talented musicians..very enjoyable. "DO NOT FORGET " to go to the piano bar...it is a hidden gem. Spanish guitars, piano, clarinet, singers, every night there was different music. I look forward to returning to this resort in October.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful Resort

Best Resort that have stayed in Varadero. The staff was very friend. The Restaurant were very good. Very Clean Resort. Good food variety to choose from. Good Drinks, Beautiful Beach you could walk for every. Just like Paradise. Great Price

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Blau Marina Varadero

We spend two weeks at the Blau Marina Veradero in February of 2014. For the most part our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The first week we spend in the family section of the resort. This is a great place for families and it is possible to find some more quiet places. For the second week the resort was overbooked and "Upgraded us to the adult area on the very tip of Varadero which is an island. This is supposed to be the luxery section of the resort. Think again. The exclusive restaurant could to say the least use a chef who can cook not one in training and more attentive waiting staff would be an asset. We ended up going to the restaurants of the family section which for the most part were excellent. We recommend the family section of this resort;the double price of the adult section is definitely not worth considering and by far overpriced. This is reflected in my rating two stars for the luxury section and three for the family area which I highly recommend.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: We will not return.

We went to Varadero in March 2014. I understand the long line up to eat because it was during March Break but we did have to also wait in line for a plate because there were no clean ones available. This was a daily occurrence. I don't agree with our room being dirty when we arrived and for the week we were there. It was like pulling teeth to get our room cleaned and receive the drinks in the fridge.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great but too many mosquitoes

Everything was great, except, there were too many mosquitoes. We only had one or two mosquitoes in our room, but, in the evenings when you were trying to enjoy the great entertainment around the resort, mosquitoes made it impossible. They really need to spray. Other than that everything was wonderful.
