VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great place for rest and relaxation!

What a wonderful place to stay! The resort is very well taken care of, the food plentiful and the drinks keep flowing. The resort is small and everything is in walking distance. Truly an enjoyable place to be!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Resort

We love the resort. Very clean and staff was very friendly. Beds in our room was very comfortable that we slept in everyday. Food was excellent and tasty, never was hungry. The Italian and Steak house were our favorites. The only downfall we had was we had our towels and chairs stolen twice on us, doesn't matter if you went to the bathroom or not, people were disrespectful and took them and than lied to your face. Also maybe the company can invest in more chairs so this doesn't happen and  [... read more]than their would be less confrontations. Other than that we did have a wonderful time on our vacation. Lots to do and so beautiful to walk around to the other resort too. We would go back to this resort again.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: loved it once again!!

This is the second time we booked at the Sunscape and loved it! There were no issues with our room, everything worked perfectly. The cleaning ladies and the staff were wonderful. We thought the food was very good, but by the end of the week it did get very repetitive. It is a good size resort so you do feel comfortable taking a daily walk, the Coco cafe was so sweet, offering plenty of sweets and fruits and small sandwiches. If you want a relaxing vacation this is the spot to go!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: A great resort, thank you for the recomendation

Thanks to Monique Kwirant for recommending the resort! We wouldn’t have booked it without her! The food was great with lots of options.t, The people were friendly and the beach was perfect. In addition to lots of sand for swimming there was large patches of rocks and coral, perfect for snorkeling with tones of reef fish.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: LOVED IT

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not my fav

The staff was very friendly and the hotel room was clean. However the coffee pot was dirty looking the plastic was peeling off inside the pot. I had the front desk replace it but it was just as bad. Water bottles were very minimal and scarce. No access to ice for the room or clean water to brush your teeth and drink. The room was initially stocked w 2 small water bottles and access to more took effort. The air worked well in my room but I woke up incredibly dry mouth. The bed was extremely stiff [... read more] to sleep on and the pillows were not soft at all. Unfortunately the buffet was not anything to boast about and the coffee machines throughout the resort did not work well. I was very surprised that I did not find a good cup of coffee at all throughout the resort. Unfortunately I will not return to the this resort.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Nice Hotel, very clean and food was good

Well, it was not a great vacation. When the bus took us to the hotel they left us away from Lobby so we had to walk. Then I was on the side walk which was not too big and decided to step on the road and fell. split my knee open and baby finger and bruised left hip and elbow. Bleeding every where. finally got to lobby and front desk rushed over and tried there best to bandage everything. Why the bus did not let us off at Lobby . No one could tell us. Next day put in a complaint to Sunwing guy. H [... read more]e made a report but would not give Bill a copy. We where on second floor so the next day they put us on First as I was pretty sore walking. Went to the doctors and he looked at knee and put stuff on it and gave me antibotics and pain killers. Put a needle in my arm and put antibotics in also. No going in water for a week. My knee is still swollen as also my ankle. Still pretty sore walking. I will not use sunwing again and it was a west Jet plane. It was just too much at airport going in a shuttle over to sunwing buiding people squeezed in. Waited nearly 2 hours for our luggage coming home. Will go out of Hamilton next time. But not sunwing.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful week at Senator Puerto Plata Spa & Resort

Had a great week, visited March 13-20th. Beautiful grounds, breathtaking views of the ocean and the mountains and watching the cruise ships coming and going. Rooms were super clean and comfortable, beds and pillows were the most comfortable of any resort I've visited. No issue with hot water, fridge was stocked daily. I stayed in building 8 and had a view of the pool and the ocean. Everything is a short walk away from the rooms. The buffet had a great variety of foods and plentiful. The pools were clean and water warm, the beach was beautiful, there was areas of broken coral but didn't stop me from enjoying walks and swimming. The drinks were good, legends had great snacks as did the snack bar. The entertainment crew were very engaging and friendly, always something going on. No complaints from our group of six, it offered everything we were looking for and more! The loungers are a small issue, but with patience you will always find a spot, go with the expectations of having a relaxing time and don't look for the negatives. I would return!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fantastic….had a wonderful time

The lobby,the beach,the pool,our room,the restaurant,everything was top notch.We were here here last year and had a great time so we decided to come back and have no regrets.Hopefully we will visit next year.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Vacation time

We really had a good time in the resort. Food, people, staff and ambience were good. Couple of things we missed: 1. No hot water to shower 2. Only 1 hour of free wifi If the above can be fixed, we will definitely come back again.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Nice resort

I have to say that the review that had us decided to try this hotel was very on point. It is very clean, the staff are all very friendly and the food was good without being 'wow'. The system for reserving your 'à la carte' is not very good. You can only reserve for two days at a time, in advance and need to wait in line to do it. I am on Vacay, no I don't want to spend my time in a line! Please change this. The problems we mostly had was with the sound level. Why scream to be heard when you [... read more] are using a microphone? Your voice does not have to be heard a mile away! At the pool, the guy was talking loud in the mike. At the show, they were not talking, they we talking loud, in an incessant tone, of 'I want to get you excited'. I can hear very well thank you, and if I am at the show, you don't have to yell to have me interested in the show. Also, the music was too loud for the children, especially at the kid's show. The 'boom.boom.boom: music is not needed. At the Japanese restaurant, I could have thought myself in a Greek restaurant. Hoopa there, and hoopa here, and screaming sentences from Greek movies, what was that? Not a single Japanese reference in there except for the décor. Please, add dividers between the four shows, as it gets VERY loud in there. Food was ok but burnt. Pool was always too busy for me, beach was a nice place, but water is very weedy. Not enough to deter me from going in the water. So as you can see, the place was nice, the staff very nice but some parts need improvement if I go back.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. It was hard to get loungers after 8 am. (March break) The room was nice, bed comfortable, bring your own shampoo and conditioner and lotions, we only had bar soap and a half bottle of conditioning shampoo (not sure if this was due to March break) The resort is kept very clean and the staff are very nice. The sports bar was a great spot and the food was good there as well, if you are an early riser they are 24hrs and you can get coffee there too. We saw a magic show while we were there and that was very good. The beach was a good size and was wavy but very little sea weed to speak off , lots of shade was a plus as well. I swam in one pool and they are kept clean but hard to get shade. The drive to the resort was about 45 minutes. Thank you Louise Endean for suggesting this resort and doing all the work for us, we had a great time and we will return for sure.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: The VH Gran Ventana was a great experience

Our family had a great vacation. The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make you feel at home and welcome. The food was very good, the rooms were very comfortable and clean and the beach and pool atmosphere were perfect. The hotel had great amenities but still felt small and quiet. I can’t say e ouch good things an out this place. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

Beautiful resort however there are limited umbrellas at the pool so not much shade. We sat at the beach and it was beautiful and shady? food was ok always lots to choose from. Ala carte restaurant where very hard to reserve unless you had VIP

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: March 2 wk. vacation

This was our 4th time at the Tangerine. They made a lot of positive renovations since our last visit. It’s a good place for couples and families, a nice pool for all ages, beautiful beach to walk, walking distance to Cabarete. The ocean waves are big, fun for teenagers and adults to body surf. You must keep an eye on kids playing in the ocean. Staff kept close watch on the surf. The buffet was very busy during Spring Break. The food was good. They have 3 restaurants available for dining with r [... read more]eservations. The rooms were comfortable. We walked to Cabarete several times for lunch on the beach or a beverage and shopping. There’s a lot of kite surfers and plenty of places to take lessons. The plus for me was the beach walking, relaxing at the beach and proximity to Cabarete on the beach. I also recommend checking out the Cabarete Coffee Company near the resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good

The resort was a lot smaller than the pictures showed. Also it said adults only and there were a few kids. The food was ok. It was very clean. The serves were kind. The grounds were clean but the plants did not look healthy.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Charming Resort

Charming resort on a beautiful beach! This was the perfect spot to enjoy our March Break. The staff were friendly and the resort was clean and quiet. I would return again as we felt safe and comfortable!

Select Sosua Adults Only, Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Enjoyable

Upon checking in on Feb 27th, our room had a leaky ceiling. Water was dripping on the bed. We were told someone would be up to push the bed aside! We refused that service. We were given a new room but upon using the key we walked into an occupied room! We eventually settled into Room # 127 was acceptable. Maid service was good. Restaurants were great. Staff: Not overly friendly. Actually, the least friendly I encountered in my many visitations down South.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Not a 4 1/2 * Resort

Mini bar only has 1 SMALL bottle of water per person per day. So it’s a mini fridge not a mini bar. We asked for more water but were told NO outright. We ended up buying our water. Very very small resort. Food tasted good but selection was very limited. Desserts were awful. Only 3 kinds of fruits offered. Same ones everyday. Toiletries are a luxury I guess so bring your own. Rooms are spacious but outdated. AC was loud and constantly acting up. Beach was small and full of seaweed so we went to n [... read more]eighbouring resorts and used their beach. A la carte restaurants were good. Service staff were great. Pool needs chlorine and a good clean.

The hotel had a nice entrance when arriving. The staff at the lobby were nice and polite to me. Now the room we’re in were cleaned when we arrived. But the 2 days we were there had no hot water in the bathroom. After having the hot water, cannot control it properly and sometimes it can get really scalding at times. We really enjoyed it very much. The staffs were great. The Sapore di Mare and the main buffet where everyone else eats, the staffs were no joy at all. Totally lacking in service. The food at the main buffet was good though. Different dishes every day but they tend to bring back some dishes after 2 days. The amenities of the resort was good. There was 1 day that had power outage for few hours. The wifi only works best if we’re in the lobby. Some areas were spotty and some no wifi at all. The main pool was nice. We could get drinks without leaving the pool. But I enjoyed the quiet pool near our building. The beach was great! Enjoyed walking around. The water was amazing too love every day that we were there. I personally enjoyed the city tour. All in all I had a positive experience compared to the negative experience we had.
