If planning to stay at this resort, it is well worth the money to stay in the Privilege section! Quiet pool area, great bar service, rooms close to the ocean, excellent service. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Superlative resort!

Modern, immaculate, wonderful food and beverage selections, especially in the gourmet French restaurant, Maison Gourmet, and the Italian restaurant, Portofino, friendly staff, beautiful grounds, crystal clear water, creative maids who left towels in the shape of a swan or a heart, gardeners who gave flowers to guests or bamboo birds, bilingual customer service personnel, as well as guides. My excursion to Remedios and Santa Clara was a treat as we rode a steam powered train, toured a former sug [... read more]arcane factory and cigar factory, Che Guevara’s mausoleum and museum and dined where a pianist played songs by Edith Piaf, Leonard Cohen, the Beatles etc. Stay inside at dusk, however, to avoid mosquito bites. You will not feel them biting but will be scratching for days! The telephones did not work, but a faulty fire alarm did go off intermittently. Great selection of news channels from across the world in English, French, German, Italian etc.! You can walk to resorts on either side or straight ahead too. Bring bundles of $1. American notes for tips as staff cannot use Canadian coins and a $5. tip for every service such as a washroom at the airport is too much. I left big tips at the end of the week as I had no small notes.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: The beach

The only reason yo go to this hotel is the beach . It has one of the best beaches in cuba other than that the rooms are falling apart , the buffet is too small for the amount of people . My bed was missing a leg -5 unsuccessfull attempts to fix it,safe broken . Room keys would only work once then they were toast . Staff were great but they are great everywhere in cuba

Memories Jibacoa: Amazing and Friendly Resort

This is our 10th time to this resort. It is like going home. Amazing snorkeling from the beach. The pool is pristine, as are the rooms. The staff cannot do enough to make sure that everything is a 10. Covid protocols were in place. All staff were and guests were masked in public areas. Buffet is served by masked and gloved attendants. Will definitely return again.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Best Cuba resort yet!!

We have been to cuba 7 times and have been to cayo coco and cayo largo but have been to cayo Santa Maria the most and just keep on going back and there is reasons why. The ocean is unbeatable and is the most beautiful we have ever seen. The Paradisus de la cayos has brought Cuba hotels to the next level. The grounds are beautiful,gardeners always working hard daily to keep it beautiful, the food is great, and always something for you to select. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and we had two  [... read more]rain shower heads and had our own space in the shower which was wonderful. We always had hot water. We also had a bath in our room and that was nice after a long day to relax. The employees all exceeded our expectations. The workers go above and beyond and please tip them as the littlest tip helps them tremendously and they really appreciate whatever they get. Not everyone tips so please make sure to budget a bit for that. They also appreciate small gifts which we always tend to bring more and more every time we go back. They have a hard time getting certain items so tooth brushes tooth paste deodorant etc. Also do not forget that the maids seem to get a lot more gifts to give some to the other workers at the bar waitresses etc as they all deserve to be treated as they treat us. DO NOT exchange your money into their pesos. I exchanged $100 Canadian and received 2000 pesos so when I would tip 50 pesos I would be giving them 2.50 tip but unfortunately the government knows what their doing and the exchange rate should be almost 5000 pesos for 100 Canadian. So we get screwed exchanging to pesos and the Cubans are making less tips which is a control thing. Please bring Canadian money $5 bills are The best as loonies and too ira they will take but they cannot exchange it at their banks so the only way is to exchange it with Canadian bills with us. They also will take American 1 dollar bills and I guess euro’s are good too. Again just wanted everyone to know this as even myself I made the mistake of not bringing Canadian cash as I would always take money out at the Cuban banks but again not worth the exchange. The Cubans deserve every penny they can to help them in their difficult life but are all happy to be working and back to almost normalcy. It was sad to see some hotels still closed. I wanted also to say how honest the Cuban people are. I went to the market beside the hotel and bought cigars and some rum. There was a situation where I paid twice by accident and didn’t know till I got home as they called my hotel and sent someone to send me back as their was an issue with my transaction. I know I had paid and don’t bother going back to see. When I got home I noticed they charged me twice and actually refunded me the one transaction back which was almost 120 Canadian dollars. This shows you the honesty and safety of Cuba and Cayo Santa Maria is our favorite place to travel and now Paradisus is our favorite resort. Please take a vacation and relax and if you want the quiet side of this resort pay the bit extra and you will be on the royal side which is so paradise and peaceful. Brisas Guardalavaca: An excellent vacation after 3 year fasting.

The entire areal is very comfortable, short distance from the hotel to the beach. I don't like to complain about the facilities since it is not our priority, but the condition of the bathroom surprised us, that was a 1 star run down bathroom. Cleaning of the room is another subject I never talked about until now. The counter was obvious area and it was not touched once in the two weeks. The real shock was not that 80% of the guests were locals, but that the reason for the stay was not the be [... read more]ach, but the feeding area and all the could carry out. Every person was ordering 8 burgers and 8 pizzas at a time and that was repeated every 20 minutes. Buns were discarded and dutifully carried to the garbage by a waitress. Only the hamburger patties and pizzas were packed to plastic bags taken to a bicycle courier by the beach. Beer taken in gallon containers. After the weekend somebody must have stepped in, because these orgies were over. Next weekend 400 guests were booked, but nobody showed up they must had been warned, that the communism is over. The scenes from the dining room I am leaving out, to keep this short. It was an interesting experience. Now something positive. The staff was really pleasant, really good service. The a la carte restaurants are beautiful, with good food, specially if you like lobster. I would return to this resort without hesitation.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Beautiful Resort

Staying at the Coral Level was a great experience, the staff were the highest caliber I have seen at a Cubian resort. Very helpful, happy and their English was amazing no issues communicating with any of the staff. The rooms were clean comfortable with all amenities except one a coffee maker. The butler would bring coffee each day but 1 cup is not enough.that would honestly be my only complaint and that might ha e been because of covid.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Still needs some improvement

The resort itself was beautiful and the staff very friendly. We were alarmed at the lack of hand sanitizer throughout the resort. Soap dispensers were empty in many washrooms too. Food at the buffet was limited, but the ala carte restaurants were good. Beach was very disappointing. We had to walk a fair distance to get to the sandy part of the beach as the ocean directly behind the resort was rocky.

Melia Internacional: Nice Vacation

The hotel was nice. The rooms were spacious. The restaurants need some improvement for example: food. The Cuban restaurant the food was tasty and the service was great. The beverages at the hotel, could be more variety. The beach staff were amazing always willing to help you find umbrellas and lounge chairs.

Melia Buenavista: Very good hotel

The hotel is well suited for adult adults. It is small and well run. The staff are friendly and helpful, the place is very clean and the 3 beaches are all different, the room spacious and comfortable. This said if you’re a foodie best think again the food is unappetizing and repetitive.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Iberostar Laguna Azul

Enjoyable vacation even with covid restrictions, the Cubans are happy to see Canadians back.The hotel is running at fifty percentage capacity. Well kept resort we were in building 18,for people with mobility issues all elevators should have been operational but were not. Playa Pesquero: Amezing

Amazing beach, friendly staff, clean rooms, spacious pools and parks, great for families and kids with a lots of facilities ,I would recomend this resort, because it's safe and excellent for relaxation

Melia Costa Rey: Awesome, can’t wait to go back - Two thumbs up

Everything was amazing, food was first class, staff was perfect, Grounds were well kept. Ocean was warm. Pools were clean. Entertainment was first class. The only stain on an otherwise perfect vacation was that I dealt with Sunwing and will never do so again. I had to make two changes and was charged both times. One agent told me I had to buy more insurance and another said I didn’t. Free cancellation waiver is a joke. I paid $262 for the first cancellation and $149 for the second [... read more]. Never again will I use Sunwing and I will warn my friends and family not to use them either.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Everything we could want in a resort

We stopped doing one week all inclusive's years ago but not having been able to get away for two years we needed even just one week in the sea and sand. After reading the food reviews here on TA we decided to give the Coral a try. We requested an upper floor suite King bed and our request was granted. The adult only pool runs the length of the Coral level and even though you don't have an ocean view the balcony atmosphere is fantastic. We found out that some of the nearby resorts had no fish at all on the menu where as we had various white fish & lobster and various lobster dishes daily. The breakfasts at the Buffet restaurant was terrific. Even though my wife and I enjoyed the food immensely we found all the staff to be even more exceptional and always went the extra mile to please. I noticed many reviews named certain staff as being great but we found there were too many great staff to name them all individually. The staff wore their masks all the time which made for a great comfort level. Tourists were expected to wear their covid masks indoors until seating. We loved walking the pedestrian bridge to the beach and to the end of all the nearby resorts. It made for great people and activity watching. The included Hobie Cat half hour ride was a great addition. We did the Paradise Island Excursion on day. It was an eleven hour day but was one of the best excursions we've ever taken in the Caribbean. We definitely will go back again but this time for longer than seven days.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Great Spot

We just came back from a week's vacation at this new resort. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. This resort is a great size if you're looking for an adults only quiet vacation on a small resort. The layout is perfect with all buildings within a short stroll to each other and to the beach. Most of the staff are quite young and are still learning some of the intricacies of the hospitality industry but are VERY polite and eager to please. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort

I have been to Varadero 4 times and this one has probably the best design for the outdoor and indoor areas. Misinformation about the room having an ocean view was troublesome at the beginning because in actuality you could only see the ocean from the balcony if you looked in a very sharp angle. So I think it would have been better if we would have known in advance. Overall the hotel is clean but our room was ok and always after cleaning we found lots of long hair on the floor( my hair is short [... read more]) then, I saw the mop that they were using, which was really dirty. Also the staff did not check the shampoo or soap and we have to ask twice to fill the empty bottles. I have to mention that this hotel has very good mannered service people. I want to name Tony who served at the dinner buffet, Joanna and Gavier who served at the breakfast and lunch buffet; and very pleasant Daysolet, who was helping with drinks in the bar close to reception. Overall, I recommend this resort.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort and beaches!!

This resort was fantastic! The beaches were pristine and immaculate. The staff was friendly, and the rooms and grounds were clean and well-kept. The highlight fixture is the infinity pool in the lobby, just simply spectacular especially during sunsets. Every night in the lobby there were various entertainment, and then followed by nightly shows at the theatre. Melia Peninsula Varadero: Worst experience ever! DO NOT stay here

Looks can be deceiving! What looks like a beautiful newer resort on the outside, was an absolute nightmare to stay in. From the resort running out of food daily to feed guests, to having to wait up to 45 minutes to receive food. Fire alarms going off almost nightly. Air conditioners in rooms no working, cockroaches' in room! 6 a la cart restaurants closed. Miserable staff and no communication between staff & customer service. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Fantastic vacation

We stayed at the Royalton Cayo Santa Maria after not being to Cuba for 13 years. The reason we had not returned to Cuba was primarily lack of comfortable accommodation and good food.
