Royalton CHIC Cancun: So proud to love this Canadian resort!

We would go back in a minute! Perhaps it’s best to first introduce the reviewer. We are in our 70's, a Canadian couple who did wilderness canoeing and camping for years- and then sought out southern sun and surf in Cuba. For me, this was my first real trip to Mexico- and I insisted that we try TripCentral.ca for booking. What a joy- intelligent and consistent follow-up, a variety of travel packages to choose from, and extra help in every aspect of the trip. The Royalton chain, we were happy [... read more] to learn, is part of the Sunwing family company- and attempt to provide extra luxury at a worthwhile price. The Cancan Suites are barely a year old- but the expertise of staff and excellence of design make the place feel well established. We did not use the Diamond Club extras except for one day- but being without that upgrade does not reduce the courtesy and attentiveness of the staff. Our junior suite on the 12th floor overlooked the ocean, had a balcony for sunset drinks and wet scuba equipment, an enormous shower with two different spray systems, a separate toilet area, two sinks, and amazing comforts throughout. (The only extra I avoided was the weight scale under the counter) And the excellent food services made weight gain the last thing on my mind. The buffet area that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner is exceptional. There's a kids' corner with their favourites, always a fresh juice and smoothie bar, a fish area with ceviche of all kinds, two hot grills with meats and fish or shellfish, a proudly Mexican section, and even a gluten-free area. The crepe-maker (who also handles gelatos and pastries) was my favourite, especially when my husband had them fill mine with chocolate and warm peanut butter. The specialty restaurants are all good as well- Agave the sophisticated Central American foods, the steak house, and the Jade Asian fusion place (no one tossing shrimps into the air and dousing them with soy sauce) Fruits, myriad salads- all fresh, scrupulously clean, and safe to eat. The hotel is a high-rise with 1 rooftop pool and deluxe bar area. To be honest- the available pool arras on the ground levels are a little small- as is the availability of beach chairs in high season. However, beach towels are big, warm, and plentiful- with no tickets or threats for returning. The beach itself is sugary, clean, and free of seaweed - no problems setting up a towel, building a sand pillow below it, and enjoying the sunshine. And I can vouch for the attentiveness of the lifeguards, Carelessly, this old lady got caught up in some deep ocean current and needed to be brought into shore by a smiling, calm lifeguard delivered by jet ski. I will be forever grateful- for the rescue and the kindness of the staff at every level. The bartenders were generous, the service double what I have experienced in personpower and courtesy-- and even the little shops in the lobby well stocked with attractive and well-priced items. My husband found the location ideal for his scuba trips- especially when the entry concierges made sure this taxi prices were understood and shared- and I found plenty to do with books and the free internet all over the property. I recommend a morning espresso from the coffee bar and a gelato on the patio every morning. I have a 75th birthday coming up. Already thinking of returning to celebrate with staff that became friends.

Temptation Resort & Spa: Third time here!

Recently returned from our third visit here in as many years which is a testament to the resort itself. Few changes this year from our previous visits. We were disappointed that our favourite breakfast restaurant Sea Flirt is now Premier members only for breakfast. Amores is the other Premier members only restaurant. No signage to indicate this and we only found out once seated. Management should consider posting signage to this effect so other guests do not have to be embarrassed by staff  [... read more]when asked to leave. No other complaints. Food is always good. Our room was a trendy garden view. Small but king bed was very comfortable and housekeeping did a great job cleaning and restocking the fridge. Entertainment was also good. Play Makers keep things lively at the sexy pool! Definitely recommend a visit to Temptations!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: We had a great time!!

Room: The rooms were beautiful, though we didn't get a King size bed, but two full beds pushed together, which worked just fine. The door to the bathroom would stick and you would have to play with it a little to open the door. The flapper on the toilet kept getting stuck and needed a nudge so the toilet would refill after flushing. The bar fridge also had notably less stuff in it compared to other 4.5 star resorts. Things to do: Whatever short comings the room had was made up by the sheer amount of activities to do on the resort or group of resorts and how huge it is. The beach is absolutely stunning. There are these huge rocks near the shore that break the waves so the water is always calm on the beach, staff keep the beach very clean at all times, tables, disposal buckets for cigarettes everywhere if you smoke, palm shelters for shade. There is a beach bar, beach volleyball, there is buffet near the beach, and a swimming pool nearby if you prefer less sand. There are daily dolphin shows at noon, and you can pay extra to swim with the dolphins. There is beach volleyball, trivia, a pool bar, 24 hour snack bar, and the main buffet on Tulum is great. They rotate cultural themes nightly for dinner but also serve breakfast and lunch. Akumal Bar at Lobby Tulum has some of the fastest bartenders I've ever seen, it is a fantastic place for drinks and live music which varies nightly. Remember to tip your bartender! There is also an auditorium near Akumal Bar with nightly performances which are fun. There was a classic rock night, 80s night, and a Queen tribute. The shopping is pretty good on the resort, lots of souvenirs and there is a tequilaria that is decent as well. La Hacienda has some nice shopping, a casino, nightly live music and salsa dancing, and the disco is there if a club is more your scene which starts to get busy around midnight. The reservation based restaurants are all great except you need to aim to arrive before your reservation as it can take you up to 30 minutes to get from say Akumal Bar at Lobby Tulum, to one of the restaurants at Lobby Premier or Coba if you don't already know exactly where you are going. They hold a strict policy of only holding your reservation for 5 minutes and there is no option for walk-ins so if you are 10 minutes late you are turned away at the door. So you need to give yourself a good buffer as you'll be relying on catching bus carts to get around to other resorts. Also if you have any allergies you need to learn to say it in Spanish otherwise the staff might misunderstand what you are talking about. And for anything tricky like gluten, you need to speak with a manager; though we did have a server at Mediterranéo that was very knowledgeable about the menu and again at Don Pablo on our second visit. If you are in Maya Riviera you need to take a whole day in Playa Del Carmen. Best shopping and Mexican food accessible to tourists. Lots of bars with great night entertainment and very lively. Always think like everyone there is trying to gouge tourists. You need to shop around to find decent deals. We took a free bus ride out there sponsored by a private business called Tura in collaboration with BestDay tours. Tura is a jewelry company and they basically trap you in a jewelry store for an hour before bringing you to Playa for 3 hours before driving you back. It's better to spend the 36 USD each way to take a cab to Playa. We skipped on the bus ride back, and spent the evening in Playa and took a cab back that night because there was so much to see. And all the tequila to taste!! There are tours available through your agency at the hospitality desk which I would recommend sticking to, but there are all sorts of stalls throughout the resort. We did a catamaran trip with snorkeling and paddle boarding, as well as rappelling into, zip lining, and swimming in an underground cenote, then ate traditional Mayan cuisine all made from ingredients raised and grown on site. We explored the restored Mayan ruins of EkBalam. And participated in a Mayan protection ceremony. On our last night at Don Pablo they set up our table with flower pedals with a heart at the center. We had a wonderful last night. The trip was unforgettable. Would love to come back someday.

Camino Real Zaashila: So Perfect

We had a beautiful stay at Zaashila. Everything in our room worked well and the view was perfect. The grounds, pool, staff and tranquility were exactly what we needed. Some truly wonderful people make your time there effortless. Breakfasts and lunches were really enjoyable, the only downside was dinners were a little disappointing given that the other two meals were more consistent in quality. I can appreciate  [... read more]that between the quinceañera and the wedding that were back to back that resources may have been stretched a little thin, and I can appreciate that. That being said, it was very simple to take a cab to Crucecita or walk down the road across from Dreams and have a really good meal, and that should be part of the Huatulco experience regardless, so all good. Our small group excursion that we booked through our tour operator was really nice. Very environmentally conscious guide who was passionate about sharing his world with us.

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: Hilton Playa Del Carmen

The staff at this resort are extremely helpful,kind and grateful to their guests. The grounds are clean and beautiful. The beach which to me is so important was gorgeous ! The only thing to perhaps improve on.....is the restaurants. Some were not always open ....and as a guest a little frustrating. An itinerary in the rooms as to which is open would of been very helpful and appreciated!

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Absolutely Great Resort

We have been to cozumel 3 times before and this is by far the nicest resort we have stayed at. The 2 storey bungalow type rooms are beautiful. The resort is not too big, just right, never felt crowded. I love when you can sit by the pool and look out at the ocean and you can do this here. Food was amazing. Service top notch. Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Awesome Resort

This hotel is beautiful. From check in to check out everything was great. I had asked for connecting rooms for family members prior to arriving. We were given connecting rooms on the first floor overlooking the pool. I can honestly say I don't have any negative comments about this resort. The staff was always friendly and attentive, the room and hotel were exceptionally clean and the food and drinks were consistently awesome. We visited Cabo and had a great time. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very nice and clean

I just came back from a week in the Coba resort. I would say that everyone were very very nice except for the pharmacist. I had to consult a doctor, who was great, but his secretary and the pharmacist so not deserve a good opinion because they were very rude.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Perfect Resort!!!

This resort was perfect from the time we checked in to the moment we left! The staff are beyond friendly and always willing to help with anything. They work so hard! The rooms are incredibly clean an so spacious. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are very comfortable. The food was absolutely amazing and the A La Carte restaurants were so delicious and the food choices were incredible. No matter where you pick to eat or whether it’s breakfast lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointe [... read more]d in the selection and quality. Nightlife is so incredible for all ages! There is always something going on for everyone, from little kiddies to older mature couples like my husband and I. If I could recommend one place to eat it’s the Japanese! Even if you don’t like sushi, you need to try this sushi! Absolutely YUMMY! I wish I could name all of the staff by names, I should have written them down! But one person in particular is Jose! He was our waiter in the privilege lounge. He was FABULOUS and very attentive and friendly! Over all we LOVED THIS PERFECT RESORT!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Amazing resorts

It was the best, there was so much food and the kids never got bored the best things were the beach there was a really good view. And the nature was so Beautiful it smelt so fresh. Your service was amazing we would love to come again sometime! Thank you

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Wonderful vacation

We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were courteous and helpful, the room was clean and the food was delicious. I went to several yoga classes and found the instructors to be top notch. We talked about it but we could not find one single thing to complain About or to improve upon. We would definitely return.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: A relaxing vacation

The view was fantastic and hotel staff were very friendly. A smaller resort but still a variety of food options and great that you can see the ocean from every pool. The room service was almost always expedient except one late night order taking an hour. The room service menu was limited and I was hoping to try the asian restaurant out again but it was closed two of the seven nights we were there. Other than that our food experience was great. The gym is well equipped and also has a great view.  [... read more]We had a balcony ocean view but I would just go for ocean view next time, the rooms are the exact same. Nothing super spectacular about the rooms.

Iberostar Selection Cancun: Beautiful resort

The staff is helpful and friendly with the entertainment crew also being fun and energetic. The food at the buffet, Steak Restaurant, Japanese, Mexican and American Bistro is all excellent. The pools are beautiful - especially the main infinity pool overlooking the beach. The rooms are fine with very comfortable beds and pillows.

Grand Sunset Princess: Great vacation at grand sunset princess

Resort was very beautiful. The beach was our favourite.. beautiful white sand, shallow water and you could snorkel if you walked out a bit. We saw some interesting fish-including some sting Rays and even an octopus! There was no seaweed at all in the water or on the beach. There were plenty of chairs on the beach and shady areas. If you want a guaranteed shady area I suggest putting your towel out early, otherwise you could easily find shade around 2 pm when people start leaving. The taco cart by the pool was amazing! I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. I really don't have anything negative to say about this resort. We had a junior deluxe suite.. it was very big and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable and I was very happy to have the jacuzzi tub which I used quite a bit. The Japanese restaurant was my favourite.. we sat at the show table. The meal was delicious and show entertaining. I also enjoyed the mexican. The Italian was decent as well, which surprised me because most resorts I have been to have had horrible italian. The buffet was always fresh with a huge variety. They had different themes every day which was nice. There was always something going on for entertainment. I really enjoyed my stay at this resort and it now ranks as one of my favourites!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Best resort ever!!!

My wife and I just came back from PYP 2 days ago!! So it’s still very fresh in our minds. We’ve been vacationing at various all-inclusive hotels for over 11 years and this hotel was the best by far!! Their gold standard service is their forte!! Wow! The staff is so friendly, courteous and efficient. Martin our beach waiter is the best. He never writes anything down and always comes back with the correct order. The food is fantastic. Buffet is very good and restaurants are as well. Room service every morning came with a check-up call to make sure of our “delivery “. Beach is nice however find yourself a spot near the far right so you can enter the water in the sandy area instead of the rocky area which is right in front of the hotel!!! We can’t wait to go back next year!! Thank you to the management team and their staff!!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: superb resort

the grounds are perfectly groomed, I never had a bad meal but only ate at 1 a la carte, the pools were wonderful but I found the adult pool a little cool, staff were very friendly and helpful, Oscar went out of his way to make holiday special

Las Brisas Ixtapa: Good resort but....

We spent a week in this hotel in January 2020. We found all things mostly pleasing as in previous year which brought us back this year. The people are great there although communication with English was difficult outside of the reception and concierge desk. The guarded beach is great there however swimming was to tough for us due to the strong undercurrent. We were pleased with the food and rooms. However, on Wednesday, preceding our departure my cosmetic bag (size around of 8 / 6 inches) disa [... read more]ppeared from the bathroom’s counter leaving me without my beauty cosmetics. Despite reporting it to the security and front desk I did not get them back. It was one day when the room (2107) was cleaned by a different person and perhaps a bit careless. I would not like to make the life of the person difficult but such things are unacceptable and be avoided and cleaning personal instructed better. On a better side, the paramedic staff was very helpful when I needed their help with my injured big foot finger.

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Good value

We tried Castillo for our fourth visit to Huatulco and enjoyed our stay. Things we liked: clean rooms and excellent housekeeping, tasty food, great beach club and location. Things we didn't like as much - the dining area was very loud and the pools were quite crowded at certain times. Would we recommend? Absolutely

Riu Flamingos: Great Resort and Experience

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rui Jalisco. The facility is excellent with all the amenities and entertainment one could ask for. The food selection was excellent and I particularly enjoyed the themes in terms of food, events and performances. There appears to be a shortage of staff in terms of the hospitality aspect. The service provided by the staff on duty was friendly, efficient and thoughtful. They almost “ran” to keep up, hence my comment. Thank you for an excellent holiday. Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Good little resort

We were at Sunscape Sabor for two weeks and enjoyed the smaller resort experience. It is older and does not have the sleeker feel of newer resorts. The biggest plus for this resort is the staff – all were extremely helpful and pleasant. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Good curtains to keep out the light too. The bathroom could use an upgrade but was clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water and towels. The air conditioning worked well and the room had a safe, f [... read more]ridge (filled with water and soft drinks), coffee maker, and a TV with a variety of channels. The walkways around the resort are winding and have steps and ramps so they may not be easy for someone with mobility/balance issues. The pools were clean and beach towels were available at your convenience (no chits required). We enjoyed the buffet restaurant for breakfast and most lunches. We also tried the Mexican, Italian, and Grill and all had a nice selection of tasty food. The beach is small, so chairs are closer together than on larger resorts, but there was usually no problem in finding a chair by the beach, or by the pool. There are also hammocks dotted around the length of the beachfront. Swimming off the beach is ok (saw lots of fish) but beach shoes are handy as the water is very shallow and there are lots of rocks and coral underfoot. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Only downside for us were the people who played their boomboxes at the beach and pool without using earbuds (we were not as pleased with their music selections as they were)!
