Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Visit Jan 29 to Feb 8th

The resort is great good for families and couples. I loved the 25 meter pool and the gym. The resort is exceptionally maintained, staff are very friendly and helpful. ala carts were good my favourite was the Tokyo and Santa Fe restaurants.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Sub Par Experience

The resort itself was nothing spectacular, the rooms were average; we had an ocean view room where you had to hang off the balcony to actually see the ocean. There was also a VERY strong sewage smell in the bathroom a few mornings and we requested a king and ended up with two doubles instead with no chance of changing as "nothing was available" despite them not even looking through their system to verify. It's worth noting that despite this being an all inclusive resort, they put big restrictions on what you are actually allowed to consume. Alcohols are very specific and anything above average is for "VIP only". I can't tell you how many times I was told this on our short stay. Also, there isn't much to do at night at this resort, and the main bar has a number of pool tables and air hockey tables that you have to pay for, so be prepared to spend extra money while you're at this resort. The staff were the most surprising part about this vacation. 90% of the staff we interacted with were rude and arrogant and were quick to dismiss you so as not to have to do anything additional. I must say however the cleaning staff were incredibly sweet and down to earth. Lastly, this next part goes towards Sunquest Vacations and not the resort itself. I would NEVER book another trip through this travel agency again. The airport shuttle both to and from the airport were a nightmare. When we arrived, it took about 15 minutes just to locate the gentleman who was to drive us and then we waited another 30 minutes before he passed us on to another driver to take us to the resort. On the way back, we had to confirm our transportation with a representative at the resort. After having an appointment, we waited around for 25 minutes before she arrived. And after finding out our departure date and realizing she couldn't sell us any excursions she was brisk and snappy and quick to stop waisting her time. Now for the morning of our return flight home. Our shuttle NEVER even showed up to take us to the airport, despite being 30 minutes early. We waited an additional hour before deciding to take a $70 cab ride to the airport ourselves ... deciding that was cheaper than missing our flight. We continuously asked the staff at the resort if there were any delays with our shuttle and they all kept saying "it's coming, don't worry". Finally we asked another shuttle driver from a different travel agency and they told us "to promptly make other arrangements or we'd miss our flight". So much stress for such an expensive trip. I feel like there are plenty of other nicer resorts, with lovely people at a more affordable rate than this place. I can't say I would ever recommend this resort, and I guess it goes without saying I would never return.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing Resort

We stayed at the Blue Bay about 4 years ago and were impressed then and this time was even better. The food was fantastic the service was amazing they are constantly cleaning and doing whatever they can to please their guests. The resort is always clean and fresh and the ambiance is fabulous. Grand Sunset Princess: Wonderful Resort!

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The only issue we had (which is a personal choice), is that the resort was too large :) Although there were shuttles to get from our rooms to the main lobby, theater, restaurants, we did have quite a bit of walking to do in order to get to the pools and the restaurants by our rooms. We paid to be in the Platinum area of the resort, which should have been top notch, and we shouldn't have had any issues at all. The main issue we had was the fact that we had been booked into the Grand SUNSET and were sent to the Grand RIVIERA instead. There was no explanation given (even though we asked a few times), and as we stayed at the resort, we found that the Sunset area had better hours for their restaurants and buffets.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Second time even better!

Second time to this beautiful hotel and it was even better than the first . It’s the staff that makes it really outstanding . Food is really good . Blue water grill for lunch and dinner outstanding . Other a la cartes good too . Drinks good , beach good , pools good . Preferred club ocean front the way to go! Thank you Now Sapphire!!

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: 3rd Time a Charm!!!

I can't say enough about this resort and it's extraordinary staff! As it was our 3rd visit in less than 2 years, we made a few requests and the resort made sure that they were all met and exceeded! The food is fantastic and plentiful and the servers are hard workers and friendly and accommodating! After a day or 2, they all get to know you and your preferences, which is a treat as it makes you feel so welcome. Nice to see Anna still there, someone who has been at Silversands for all 3 of our visits. The addition of Alex to the poolside area, for ANYTHING you need, was a welcome addition for us this trip. Kayaking, scuba diving lessons and a huge Superbowl party on the beach were all fun things for this trip! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone that wants a fairly quiet but fun getaway, with only a 20 minute drive from the Cancun airport to this smaller resort. Canadians....they have Clamato juice here!! All you need to bring is celery salt for a perfect drink!!!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Very nice resort

The hotel was amazing. Staff waited on you hand and foot, the drinks were amazing and so is the food. If you want a tiki hut by the beach go early in the day as by afternoon they were totally gone!!!!

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Superb hotel with exemplary staff and service

This is our 4th stay at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso and it never fails to live up to its reputation. The hotel buildings are magnificent and kept meticulously clean and repainted frequently. In the main the a la carte restaurants are excellent but it isn't always easy to reserve a table even a week in advance. Beach and beach service are excellent and quiet. JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Excellant Adults Only Resort

Everything about this resort is 5 star This was our seventh visit to the Grand Paraiso and nothing disappointed On our arrivel we are introduced to our butler who already knew our likes and dislikes from previous trips and ahd eqipped our room accordingly The food is top notch regardless of the restaurants or buffet

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Akumal Bay = Amazing

This resort is beautiful and in excellent condition. Whether you eat at the Buffet or à la carte restaurant you will be satisfied with excellent food. The beach is great with soft sand and the water so clear that you can easily see different species of fish without snorkeling or you can simply go for very long walks on the beach and enjoy the view. The rooms are great and clean but the weather so fantastic that you won't spend much time in the room. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Resort for a wonderful vacation

Was a little hesitant to stay with all the mixed reviews; however our stay was wonderful! We ended up in block 6( away from the beach) had a pool and a snack shack there, so it was quite (mostly). Large rooms, good beds, great patios, large bathrooms with huge showers. Grounds were well maintained, the staff was friendly and attentive. Spent many evenings at the swing bar on the beach (our favourite  [... read more]spot) Now the negative: Yes there is some maintenance needed on the pools as tiles are missing, and perhaps a little more attention to morning skimming. At the beach bar they don’t wash the glasses, but rather they are soaked (in what I am not sure) and you are never given a straw at this side of the resort (I get why but gross!!) Events on the beach are not alway posted if you have a pool day you don’t know what’s going on... Beach is not private so beware of venders

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beautiful resort ...

Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms and resort so clean and beautifully maintained. Food delicious. Buffet offered so much variety and food was nicely presented. A la Carte restaurants impeccable.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Mixed feelings about this resort

Staff were very friendly. The food was wonderful. I liked the privacy of the rooms. The biggest drawback was the lack of beach on site. The cenotes were nice as was the pool but I still really missed the on site beach.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fab resort

All areas were fantastic........except our room! It was in need of a makeover,so we spent another $2300.00CAD to upgrade to the Premier section The new room was great. We would have had a depressing stay had we stayed in the first room allotted. The resort was great. All staff were very helpful. I would recommend to a friend with the caveat that they book Premier as the regular class of rooms just don’t fit the bill for an expensive holiday.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcelo Beach resort

Very good overall--excellent maintenance on grounds, pools, beach. Food very good, coffee a bit of burnt taste. Many staff have very limited English skills, but most friendly and make attempts to communicate. Room very good in all features except floor cleaning--always grit left as if floor was not swept. Dirt on floor in corners, under desk, etc. Otherwise well cleaned daily.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Nice location

Thought I would let you know how unhappy we are. So far a very poor experience at our hotel. The sales pressure for future stays is very forceful. The man that approached us was very aggressive and trying to into my purse and our beach bag for the paperwork on the tours we purchased at the airport from the hotel representative who we later found out was not from Ocean Coral and Turqueta. We went for dinner at the steak house last night. Ordered Calamari for appetizer and it was horrible!!!!!! [... read more] We got 3 pieces of Heavily battered and extremely greasy Calamari! I ordered a prime rib steak (medium rare), with a baked potato and got blue rare steak, 3 small slices of cold sliced potato. Brian ordered Beef Ribs with baked potato and he too got 3 small slices of COLD potato. Our server Tony not once came by to check on our meals. When he finally came around we brought the steak and cold, hard and raw potato to his attention but there was no remorse. He offered to have the same steak put back on the grill to cook more!!! I ordered a margarita and hit it in a short plastic glass!!! Very pathetic to go to a steak house and get such awful service and food. We thought since I was still hungry we’d get dessert at the Italian Restaurant and ordered banana flambé. Excited for my dessert only to be disappointed with a very hard bite size banana tart with no taste. After our very poor dining experience we went to the lobby lounge for a drink. I ordered a Martini which arrived in a plastic margarita glass. I asked my server why he brought me a margarita and not a Martini he advised it is a Martini and they didn’t have any martini glasses!! Seriously a 4+ resort and no martini glasses?? They serve drinks in plastic glasses? Our room in situation right outside a road and traffic starts at 5 AM. I’m on vacation and definitely not interested in waking up with traffic at 5:00AM. We wanted to stay away from the traffic noise not in the have a bust road in front of our room!! So far our experience is awful. It is with your recommendation that we came here and are extremely disappointed. I am going to the front desk to see they will move us. Sorry to have to write this email but I felt you should be aware of our negative experience so far. I understand this is not your fault directly but if Trip Central is recommending this hotel then you. We’d to be aware of the hotel. On a positive the hotel was clean and the beach was not crowded. Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful, the service was very good ...the food, I found mediocre! Especially the dinner buffet! There are lots of lemurs on the property that are very amusing ...one of them actually took my Blue Hawaii cocktail when I was on the beach...very funny!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very nice resort

very clean, staff is awesome, beach and pool awesome. The rooms were very clean. The drinks were ok, but no straws available due to the fact that this is an eco friendly resort. No elevators, which was a problem.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: What no Corona extra

The Hotel is very beautiful The Lagoon needs major help it stinks and they were working on it all the time The beach salt water pool was closed just about every day and they were running the compressor while they were working on it We loved the grounds and the Pools The Rooms were big and clean The Restaurants were amazing Beautify presented Plates and great food Well done The Grill was our favourite We pretty much skipped the Buffet not good The food there was cold We went to the beach buffet  [... read more]for Breakfast We also enjoyed the Snack Bar They had chicken wings Only part of the time we could get a Corona Extra

Love the resort Great for family or couples and if traveling alone lots to see and do.
