Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Excellent vacation!

We have booked our family (2 adults, one 12 yo) vacation during Reading Week, and we were a bit worried it will be very noisy. This resort is the perfect place for a family: not too many very young kids, not too many (and definitely not very rowdy) college / university students, not too many older adults; just the perfect mix. The rooms are clean and well kept, the entertainment crew is friendly and they put on very nice shows (we've enjoyed all the evening shows, but if you must miss one, make  [... read more]sure you do **not** miss the Circus Night - an amazing show); the pools are beautiful; the food is good (we haven't gone to any of the a la cart restaurants in one week, just enjoyed the buffet). The beach is not as crystal clear as you might expect (they do have wave breakers throughout the length of the resort beach), but we love a bit of waves and, on the upside, we were able to treasure hunt for shells :) The shopping / disco / karaoke / casino strip is a night touch and allows for a quiet evening, while offering the young(er) ones a place to dance and be loud :) We have booked a safari trip through the neighbouring mountains / villages / laguna; I would greatly recommend it if you want to have a taste of the local life. We have enjoyed it thoroughly! There are multiple organizations you can book through, we have used Transat's own, and we would recommend it (smaller group - about 14 people), wonderful guides, beautiful trip.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful resort!

Our favorite part of the resort was our view from the room and the beach area. Not too busy where we were and lots of chairs to chose from. Variety and quality of the food and drinks in the buffet and a la carte restaurants were excellent. Service was pretty good but not outstanding. If I returned to this area I would stay at the Akumal.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Very Quiet, Clean and Relaxing

Really nothing wrong with this resort. It's approximately a one hour drive from Samana airport to the private dock and then another 10 minute boat ride to the resort. We stayed in villa 01, room 01201. Very large room and clean. Food was very good at all the restaurants and they never seemed crowded. Pools were warm and also never seemed crowded. Beaches are just great! The grounds are well kept and mature. Lots of walking/jogging trails. It was a perfect vacation!

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Great escape from the Canadian cold!

Very nice, well maintained resort. The beach was beautiful and long with fine sand and shallow water. There was a great selection of food at the buffet, but we enjoyed the Brazillian Restaurant best. We would definitely go again.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful but far from actionm

Bahia Principe San Juan is one of the most beautiful resorts I have seen in the Caribbean. All staff were very friendly with good service. The food was good. It's a great r&r resort. There are some on-resort activities but the resort is very far from everything so travel to excursions is long and far and not always comfortable.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fantastic resort

The hotel is very nice . the pools are exceptional along with the waitresses and bartenders. ala carts are the best I have had . Upgrade when you get there it is so worth it. been there twice now both times we were treated very well.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: A fantastic resort...everything was excellent.

Excellent service, good selection and quality of food, beautiful endless beaches, perfect weather every day. We met many people who had been to the resort multiple times. A very well maintained resort, you can see that the maintenance and upkeep is continual. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Awesome Adult-Only Resort

This resort is beautiful inside and out. The grounds are well-manicured and staff are constantly keeping things tidy/clean. The beach is gorgeous and plenty of chairs and palapas. The buffet and a la carte restaurants were tasty and a lot of variety. This resort is perfect whether you want a quiet/romantic holiday or have a more lively time, since there are an abundance of activities and entertainment to choose from.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: very pleased with the whole resort

especially great food at the buffet especially great service at the Gourmet Restaurant from Junior Sanchez and Ysabel. The food in all the A la Carte restaurants was amazing. all the facilities were first class.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Best Resort

This hotel is teriffic. It is actually made up of 4 resorts. The beach is clean white sand with gentle waves coming in. Lots of lounges and chairs around the 2 pools at the beach. There are 2 other pools up towards the main lobby with restaurants all around the grounds. Also, it is only 30 minutes from the airport. We could find no fault with this place.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Some good, some bad

I thought the main rooms of the hotel and the guest rooms were very nice. The lobby and the balcony around the hotel was super pretty. The beach was a bit of a walk from the main areas of the hotel which wasn't great. The pool was really nice, though. Two swim up bars and lots of chairs around. The service was adequate - no wow factor. Some of the staff were really accomodating and helpful and some acted as if we were bothering them. The food was quite good at every meal.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fun Vacation at Coba

The Coba is the lesser of the four resorts in the Bahia complex and by staying there we did not have access to the luxury Akumal. The staff was great, food good, kids activities plentiful but the Coba pool was very crowded, the beach area we were confined to was inferior, and the rooms were tired. Fun but not 5 stars.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great Family Resort!!!!

My family and I (including my boys 9 & 8) loved our recent visit to the Esmeralda Feb. 25 - Mar. 4). The whole Bahia Principe resort is massive, but the trolley service allows you easy and quick access to entire resort . The Esmeralda grounds and beach are immaculate, and all staff and servers were friendly an accommodating. Buffets were good with reasonable selection and variety. I am a picky eater so that goes a long way. A-la-carte restaurants were ok, usually buffet starters and menu main co [... read more]urses. Book as soon as you can on arrival as slots fill quickly. We like the Bella Italia and Mikada Japaneese the best. You cannot reserve ahead online as you were apparently able to do in the past. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were very comfortable (best mattress I've ever had) and mini bar stocked with bottled water, beer and liquor (we tipped every day and was able to communicate that we preferred the rum and vodka). After that we got all we needed. The fridge keeps things cool at best and depending on the time your room is cleaned fridge contents may be on the warm side. A good trick is to bring a large drink container with you so you can fill up with ice at the pool bar before you head back to your room. Beach and pool were good but be warned that even though there are signs stating that you cannot reserve loungers and cabanas that everyone does and there is no enforcement. Lots of shade available so get up early (before 7am) to get something where you want. The beach has ample lounges but the ones beachside again were always "taken" early. Overall the Esmeralda section was wonderful although we can't speak for the rest of the resort as we spent most of our time at Esmeralda. Frankly, you probably wouldn't want to anyhow. Since we had our boys with us the Ambar section was off limits but adults do have access to the Ambar section if you chose. Understand that Dominicans are hard working friendly people who work long hours for very little pay. We found that giving tips (2 dollars) went a long way and tended to get quicker service and more attention but that's just our approach. Please take into consideration any reviews posted and realize everything is service and time related and individual experiences seem to differ greatly. We were shocked to see negative reviews in areas we found to be great and vice versa. Wonderful vacation and would recommend it!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Wow!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal. The Room was spacious and beautiful, the food was absolutely incredible, the grounds were impeccably kept and the service was second to none. Will go back next year.

this was our return visit in 4 years. a great resort then a better one now . the food was outstanding service second to none,a beach for young and old the only issue we had was the room cleaning was not up to standard.garbage left on floor tub not cleaned bed improperly made.but overall come on down

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: utopica

This resort did every thing well. The service was excellent, all meals were excellent, the staff set the bar high. the rooms were clean with no issues, the internet worked, the beach was amazing, the gym was excellent, the pool was clean. Lots of lounge chairs at the pool and on the beach. Lots of shade on the beach if needed.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great small resort

Easy to access all areas. Rooms very clean. Older sections need upgrading. All employees friendly and very accomodating. Resort is growing with two new buildings this year and two more planned for 2016. This makes for crowding at the pool and buffet. We are assured that they will take this into account this coming year. More chairs needed at pool and beach areas. Food is really great and lots of it.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: GRAN BAHIA PRINCIPE, RUNAWAY BAY, JAMAICA

THE RESORT ITSELF IS LARGE WHICH LEADS TO A LOT OF WALKING. THE POOLS, SWIM UP BARS AND BEACHES WERE EXCELLENT. THE NIGHT TIME ENTERTAINMENT WAS AVERAGE AT BEST. THE BUFFETS WERE AVERAGE BUT THE A LA CARTES WERE EXCELLENT. THE KARAOKE BAR WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP - GREAT FUN. THIS COULD BE A FIVE STAR RESORT WITH BETTER WINE AND WHISKEY, REFILLS OF FOOD AND BEER ON TIME NOT AFTER THEY HAD RUN OUT, AND MORE DETAILS TO SMALL THINGS.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing Vacation at Sian Ka*an

Just returned March 1 from a week at the Bahia Principe Sian Kaan. A beautiful resort with amazing food and wonderful people. A quick trolley ride to the beautiful beach every day. Access to other resorts and restaurants was a plus. The staff went beyond to assist with anything needed without question. Quiet, serene and beautiful!! There are no negatives about this group of resorts and the Sian Kaan especially!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great service and excellent restaurants.

The staff are really trying to make sure they live up to the new Don Pablo brand. Great service at all restaurants with only one exception (one dinner at the Italian Restaurant where service was very slow and inattentive) Our rooms was overlooking the beach in Akumel area and couldn't have been nicer.
