Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A very relaxing, enjoyable stay.

This was our second time at the Paradisus Princess Del Mar. Our junior suite was located on the ground floor, and we enjoyed sitting on our patio drinking cuba libras. The room was spacious, and the shower was large enough for the two of us. It was perfect. The young woman who kept our room tidy was pleasant, and always ready to provide extra towels, glasses, etc. For a fee we could keep our room past the check-out time and enjoy the beach on that last day. Just before we left we could shower be [... read more]fore we went home. The Paradisus beach is quite wide, and we had a lot of space from the public area. This is also an adult resort, so there weren't any children . Food in at the buffet was abundant. My favorite was the ice cream, and home made bread. The best cappuccinos were made in the lobby bar, and the Rock House. The Rock house is open 24/7 and served pizza, club sandwiches as well as eggs in the morning. The staff were friendly and happy to serve us. The Club House was a 24/7 restaurant the last time we stayed at the Paradisus. now they serve Tapas,coffee and drinks. A nice place to sit and be served. The French a la carte restaurant served the best beef we had ever eaten in Cuba. We did take an excursion to the Bay of Pigs. We drove across Cuba and saw places we had not seen before. This included a tour of a crocodile farm. Lunch was included, and was excellent.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort

I really liked the layout of this resort, lots of vegetation, bungalows of 4 or 2 rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The weather was teriffic no rain. The Italian and Grill restaurants very good food and service. Great place to relax.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing vacation

The hotel is great with nice views wherever you are, and the people are simply amazing, all the employees are amazing and helpful, they were a very important part of the memorable vacation. First time ever that was kind of said to go back home. Will definitely go back!!!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Exellent Resort

I find the resort very clean and the beach and pools are looked after. The staff are hard working people and very pleasant to be around. I have tried other resorts but this one is my favourite. I will return

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful Resort!

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful resort. However the flight home from Santa Maria to Halifax on March 26, 2014 with Air Transat was absolutely terrible. Landing the plane in a snow storm that had closed down much of Nova Scotia was terrifying. We would definitely return to this resort, however we would choose another airline in the future. The resort deserves a 5 star rating.

Melody Maker Cancun: Good Resort

This is a very good resort in terms of the food, grounds and location. Very nice, clean resort!! The staff were always friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. I celebrated my birthday while we were there and the dining room team went above and beyond!! Thanks for a memorable vacation :-)

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wouldn't return

We stayed at the melia peninsula Feb'14 but we would not return. Don't get a room on the ground floor unless you are ok with the smell of mold. The place was out dated and the food was less then satisfying . Staff was great and the beach was awesome. They did send us to the melia marina for the last 2 nights which was fantastic. Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Unsatisfied to say the least

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Its the third time I've stayed at a hotel on the Cayo Santa Maria Strip- this was my least favorite. The food options were very limited, the staff were only responsive to constant tips and the strip of beach the hotel is on goes from ankle deep to underwater in two steps. My partner walked into our room in the afternoon to find our cleaner urinating in our washroom with the door open. Trust me- go to Cayo Santa Maria that's up the strip and a MUCH better experience for the same cost.

Melia Marina Varadero: Special resort

We stayed here shortly after it opened in dec2013 ... Resort is beautiful, very modern , lots of shops, friendly staff, great food, nightly entertainment and beach is so amazing overall can not wait to go back

Melia Las Dunas: Great resort

The first time I went to Las Dunas it had just opened and was amazing!! Now, I was a bit disappointed because it's not that clean anymore. The beach is one of the best in Cuba. It's worth to go with family!

Melia Buenavista: AMAZING property, beaches, rooms and staff.

This place just wows you the moment you walk into the lobby. Truly secluded with 3 very different beaches, some truly in their natural state with wildlife and vegetation. If you want crowds, this is not the place for you. The rooms are the best we've seen in Cuba and truly superb. The staff welcome you and attend to your needs, especially the servers, gardeners, and butlers. Great traditionally made drinks and bar locations. Just loved the fresh coconuts on the beach! The gym was very nice an [... read more]d stocked even though small and you have a wonderful Zen-like area just outside. Unfortunately, there was not enough variety with the food. It was fresh and delicious, but it lacked the variety from day to day as well as traditional recipes, be they Cuban or Italian. This is a small resort and it seemed to be difficult to keep 3 restaurants open at all times with a variety of food. This area needs improvement. The entertainment was very, very good. Small groups and bands that were very professional. Could use a few extra bands ; )

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

The grounds were amazing, suggest upgrading to the adults only as it is close to the beach and not crowded at all. There are a lot of different themes of food to choose from and very good. Found that there was a large language barrier. Most employees did not understand English very well. It was very rare that you would get what you ordered for a meal even if it was right off of the menu. Room service was poor, not much variety, took a longtime and the order was never understood or received right [... read more]. Otherwise the people were friendly.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: First time in Cuba and we'll be back!

Just returned from our first trip to Cuba. To frame my review a little: this was our second all inclusive (first being Mexico, at a 5 star). And as mentioned in the title first time to Cuba. We are not very fussy people. I read a ton of reviews for various hotels and lots on this one, so I knew what to expect. FOOD: The good: We went into this trip with pretty low expectations of what the food would taste like and were pleasantly surprised. Yes, there are line ups - but totally worth it and sometimes you just have to pick the right times and there is hardly a wait! Go see Frank in the buffet and he'll make you a delicious omelet. Fried rice/stir fry at dinner was delicious too. A few days in we got a little tired of the same old.. but this would happen anywhere and was the same on our last resort. You get tired of buffet food after awhile. The beach snack bar makes good pizza! You might have to wait during peak times but it's worth it.. beware of adorable resort cats who may want a taste of your pizza too! (Didn't bother me at all, I am a cat person and there were lots here). The not so good: The beef. I stayed away from it, but my boyfriend said it was quite chewy and tough. He got sick both times he ate it, thinking the second time might be different but it wasn't. ROOM: The good: We upgraded to ocean view when we arrived and it was totally worth it. Building 11 was very central and had a great view of the ocean, yet still close to the pool as well. Beds were comfortable, room was clean. Always had hot water and great water pressure. The not so good: Ants. This is a common problem at this hotel I think, we had a few randoms around the room but having them in the bathroom did bother me. After a few days of the room not being sprayed as requested - we sprayed some of our bug spray and that seemed to get rid of them after a couple of times. Wasn't a fan, but again it wasn't the end of the world and we dealt with it. Another note - something that others have mentioned and others might care more than we did - some of the sheets and towels had stains. It was obvious they were clean and that's all that mattered to us but I know this may be off putting for some. POOL/BEACH: The good: The pool was always immaculate and the pool bar service was great, always friendly and would remember your drink orders. The beach was stunning, that is a given for this location I think! We were disappointed we had a lot of "Red flag" days (too windy) but that is no ones fault, and we still enjoyed it anyway. The not so good: The towel game... after 3 days we realized if we wanted shade it was up at 6am to save ourselves a spot then back to bed again. I hate this and I hated taking part in it but not much choice if you wanted shade! SERVICE: No negatives here. The people are 100% what will bring us back to Cuba and this resort. What wonderful, warm, sweet people we came across. If nothing else sells you on Cuba this will. We tipped a lot and I'm not sure it was that it was expected for service or that we just wanted to because everyone was so great. It's so nice to walk by and have people recognize you, smile, wave, and always be so pleasant. Very few people were not like this... Cubans really stole our hearts! Other things worth mentioning: The Spa -- very relaxing atmosphere however both the pool and the jacuzzi needed a desperate cleaning when we went, lots of floating stuff and I was a little grossed out when while I was in the pool saw a bunch of dead floating ants around me! Ew! We got out quick. Don't know if that was just a bad moment, but I would recommend management look into it as none of the other pools were ever anything but pristine. Overall I think this is a good resort and would go back if we got another good deal.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Resort needs updating

We loved our stay. The food, grounds and staff were wonderful. The only undesirable thing that we noticed was the outdated rooms. They were clean but in disrepair. That didn't stop us from having a great time. We walked for miles and didn't see a soul. It was like we had the island to ourselves. The island is absoloutley stunning.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing time in Cuba the Melia was perfect

We upgraded to a bungalow and really enjoyed the privacy. The staff are soooooo friendly and eager to please and the resort itself was beautiful. We like it so much that we tried to extend our stay for another week but we were unable to arrange flights.

Starfish Cayo Largo: very nice , very clean

decent food , great beach , 5 minutes from the airport, bugs just in the evening for an hour or so. went on a snorkel excursion , it was excellent...tenth time to Cuba , it is great in terms of location , no town , no peddlers , no locals, friendly staff , resort was half full , it was end of November ....rained once at night for about an hour .....I recommend this resort for all age groups as well as handicapped.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Resort

Great Hotel very relaxing staff very nice and very helpful. Beaches are nice and the entertainment shows at night are excellent. You can go for a walk or literally just dance the nice away. You will definately enjoy your stay.

Sol Varadero Beach: Not so amazing resort

:This was our first trip to Cuba and we weren't quite sure what to expect. The food was better than adequate comparing to the Domincan.....bar drinks were quite good.....the whole resort was very dated and in need of MUCH repair....rooms were in poor shape and the washrooms were laughable....I decided to pretend we were in shabby sheik for the stay....no point in getting too worked up, as this side of the resort was at least lively....if we had complained they put you in the other side which see [... read more]med like a retirement villa!! LOL We travelled with our Daughter, Son in Law , adult son ( who shared our room on a cot!! He however moved it out on to our balcony and had an amazing alfresco room for the week!) and 2 small grandchildren. The service on the resort was hit and miss...basically ignored until a large tip was put on the bar (that was for ice!!) All in all it was a terrific holiday....car rentals directly across from the resort....Havana an hour trip .....a very interesting hour trip away!! Sand flees were ATTROCIOS.....Beach closed most of the week due to waves...pools were clean....large parts of the resort were actually abandoned or closed up......

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Service, Infastructure in need of repairs

I had a great say at the SOL Cayo Santa Maria. The hotel was old (oldest in the cayo) and in need of repairs for the service was five star the whole way. I asked for a wheelchair accessible room. It was in good repair everything was functional. A handle fell of the dresser but when reported to management it was promptly repaired. The service was awesome. I was traveling with my daughter (9 months) and everyone was so helpful. Both in the mini club Jeny was great but also at the restaurants. The  [... read more]chefs (Marbelio in particular) were so accomodating with helping find food she could eat. The serving staff was there to make sure we had all we needed and at quiet times, they would even hold and talk to the baby so I could eat. I will definitely be returning!!!
